Thought about all of you this morning when I was boxing and my RIGHT punch wasn't working! It's always something isn't it?

The only "receiver" is the Wii console--the sensor bar does NO sensing...it' just gives off infrared light.

The nunchuck does have less sensitivity, so that can be part of it. The main thing might be to have both running across the palm below all the fingers, so that when you punch, it's parallel to the floor (or horizontal). That will probably help with the "flick" at the end. A "jab" (where you stick your fist straight out and don't rotate it), resulting in the controllers being vertical, probably doesn't cause that "flick" that you need.

The times that my left one didn't register I noticed I didn't have it in my hand straight. As long as it is in my hand inline with the receiver it seems to work fine.

Mommy-T got it spot on there. Gerry struggled to get it to register properly until I watched him. Too much like real boxing. Now he does like I do, Punch forward and pretend it connected with something solid by stopping dead and pulling back. You do have to make sure you don't over-extend your arm doing that though. It could cause RSI if you allow the elbow to stop it. Use muscles, punch forward with force, stop dead before the arm is fully extended and snatch your arm back. I get every punch to read like that and it gets my heart pumping well.

First, all the sensor bar does is emit (infrared) light. The controller is what takes that data and transmits it directly to the Wii. (you can actually use two candles instead of the bar.)

As for the controllers reading, don't try real boxing so much as "cardio" boxing--more like aerobic kickboxing stuff. When you "real" punch, you make it stick, or drive through the target. But when you "cardio" punch it's more of a hit and bounce back motion.

What the controller actually reads isn't the motion of the arm, but the flick at the end of the punch. You could actually just flick your wrist at the right time to get it to read a punch--but then, that's not a workout.

Yepp... it's frustrating not to get credit when you should. I've found that a downward flick while pointed at the punching bag seems to work well. Not much connection to real boxing though.

My left nunchuck doesn't pick up my moves sometimes either. I really would like the points but it is what it is!

Mine does the same thing. The connected one is better than the cordless but they both still don't move right sometimes.

I find that I try to emulate "real" boxing too much. Like, in the right/left/right I might try an upper cut. I think you just need to make sure you are boxing forward instead of "around". If that makes sense.

That's what I've found anyway :-)

I love the boxing on the wii fit the only trouble is sometimes when I swing my right hand ( the one with the wii controller in it) it doesn't read and says I missed. Could I be too close to the sensor bar or do I have to adjust my timing?
