Thanks for sharing this- I would have never known. Though that does put a damper on seeing all those calories burn! I think for jogging and boxing I will track as I did before, but switch to the Wii option for the other workouts.

Is that using your HRM or using a different SP estimate?

Mommy-T, To answer your question:
I only saw it yesterday, after I'd entered my fitness with HRM cals, so I went comparing. By changing the aerobics bit to SP's Wii high intensity I lost 6 cals for the 41 minutes, so that pretty close for me. For the yoga bit to Sp's Wii low intensity I lost 10 cals for just 15 minutes done (but I find some of the yoga quite a strain).

It would be interesting to see how it compares for others?

The F6 seems to be fine with other stuff around...mine is a Momentum (off brand) an was about 1/2 the price of his....which is probably why it picks up lots of other stuff.

Is his affected by yours?...maybe the f6 is more shield FROM others, but can still cause interference TO others.

As for the HRM thing--I realize that it will differ from person to person, but was just wondering if anyone was coming close to the SP numbers or if they were completely crazy off---especially since SP is supposed to be using "average" numbers (that's probably more accurated for those closer to "normal" weight).

MJHughes--thanks for the feedback!!

With an HRM...do beware of "cross contamination" (my words)....when I get too close to Jaymurz my pulse rate goes WAY up (not just 'cuz he's my sexy hubby) like to 196 when I'm walking slowly. It does the same thing close to my computer, or in the car or when there is any electrical field.

His is a Polar6 and is suppose to be shielded from other HRM's, so just be aware.....

This really makes me want to go get a HRM - I've been toying with the idea of getting the Body Bugg - anyone else have it? They use it on the Biggest Loser and at 24 Hour Fitness; it isn't cheap so I really want to find out what people think of it first....

I really had to adjust my numbers using SP's Wii Fit numbers...

Hey I just thought that I would pass on that now in the fitness tracker under the cardio there is a spot now to put in your Wii minutes.
Go under the browse and click on Other Exercise.
It is at the bottom of the list. They have one for beginner and one for advanced.
Everyone have a great weekend.

Actually, any estimates for calories burned is meant to be for a person of some sort of "average" weight. I read about this years ago, & I'll bet if you do a particular working with a HRM, then have someone else you know do the same thing with the same HRM (but their personal info used by the HRM), the calories burned will be different. If you have a HRM & know the calories YOU actually burn, you can manually enter this yourself, rather than take the Spark estimates.

Dawn, I was going to post this information on our other team, but I see you're here! It's a neat team, huh?

Now if I could only find that elusive Wii Fit...

Here's my $0.02...

From what I remember to what my HRM says, I think the SP numbers are closer to reality with 2 exceptions...running on Wii Fit and boxing on Wii Sports (if you are really punching away). All the others I think fall into the two categories they provided, with most falling into the lower range. The Wii Fit Yoga barely burns 2 calories/minute, so I would use the SP Yoga category for that.

I think it's great they added these categories since so many people are using the Wii & Wii Fit to exercise now.

The Biggest Loser has "Trainer Tips" on its YouTube page...and one of them, Jullian says that you can burn 10 calories a minute doing vigorous jumping jacks--that would be 100 calories in 10 minutes.

I'd almost say that I would be closer to the 88 for doing the 10 minute boxing on Wii Fit.

I did 30 minutes tonight of the step and the rythm boxing and walked away sweating & I only burned 120 calories? Come on. Plus stretching does not burn as many calories as stop or jogging. I can't see it as being real accurate.

That was added today! I have been looking all over all week for WiiFit. I am so glad it is on there. However, I was really disappointed with my calories burned.

Interesting!! Maybe they added over December--when they were doing all that reviewing/giving away of Wii Fit and stuff?

Hummm...wonder how that compares to those that have HRM? anyone want to weigh-in on that?

let's see, this is what I know so far, according to the SP tracker for 10 minutes each, this is what is burned:

88 calories burned for "Aerobics:General:Low Impact" (what I've been using for myself)

56 calories burned for "Wii Fit exercise (advanced or high intensity)"

40 calories burned for "Wii Fit exercise (beginner or low intensity)"

anybody know what you burn based on a HRM for 10 minutes?

Thanks for the news. That is a new entry. Will have to go check it out & see how close it is to how I had been recording Wii Fit time previously.

I was just logging my minutes in the Fitness tracker and noticed that they now have Wii Fitness (high and low intensity) in the tracker. Click on Browse and then other exercises and go to the bottom and there is Wii Fit. Not sure if it has always been there or not but I just noticed it.
