The Wii Console is totally worth the money. It is way less than a gym membership and a lot more fun. The balance board and game that comes with that is also very worth the $80.00.
I know I've said before, but I also like the new Active Life, Outdoor Challenge. It sells for about $60.00 at Fry's and other retailers, and comes with the controller mat and game. It really gets you moving and is good cardio.

Make it a good day,

Gini

I love the ddr2 and wii fit. I sweat with the ddr and use the fit for balance and yoga. I am not strong enuf for the other exercises yet! My husband compete on the wii sports boxing. We are so sore! I think it was well worth the price. Our whole family loves it and we use it at parties!

Nonnie52...I bought my wii fit from circuit city online as well and I didn't have to buy the extra things. I have now put the cover for the board on my christmas list though.

COURTI7 I like the Wii fit. But we were also discussing getting a DDR for my son and daughter, my son loves DDR and they even play it at church.

Both give you a terrific workout, it depends what you desire for yourself and family.

I got my console on line at Sears and my wii fit at game stop. Some of them sells the console in a bundle which will shoot the price up, and you will get some games that you really don't want. Try and find the one that's not a bundle. It is well worth it.

You can always justify purchasing the console as an investment. It is less expensive then a year at the gym and it is your to keep. It is convenient because it is at your house and always available. And lastly,it is SOOO much more fun. I love it!

BOTH!! (Wii Fit and DDR)

I say pick one and the work towards the other, but both are good choices, so just pick the one that interests you more right now.

you should be able to get just the system, if you're at a Wal-Mart store (online usually bundles things up, but I've never heard of the local stores doing that). If not at Wal-Mart, then you should be able to try another local store (since most online retailers do the bundles) to get just the system.

When I called around they all said the Wii unit cost $250 but when I went to Wal-Mart, I found one for a little over $300, but it had 2 remotes and 2 nunchuk and another CD with an additional 9 games. Now I have to save up for the Wii fit. What do you think is more fun and get in shape...Wii Fit or the DDR?

Well, I was really in the dark about this new exercise unit. If I had known it would be over $300, I probably would have not even considered it. Even know, since I don't have the $250 unit, I probably won't purchase the Wii Fit.

I will keep doing my Leslie Sanone Tapes!!!

I think that the base price is set no matter what store you buy it in, it just depends on what they're bundling it with. But it should be 250 for the console, 1 controller, 1 nunchuk, and Wii Sports. 89.99 for Wii fit. If they're selling it for more in the store, then they must have other things in the bundle which is too bad because the Wii is very fun! I haven't gotten around to buying Wii Fit, but I know I'll enjoy it once I own it! Online is a rip off no matter what site you go to!

The Wii console with the basic sports package is 250.00. Wii fit is 90.00. You basically should not pay any more than these prices. You might do a little better at a place like Sams but it moves off the shelf fast so if you really want the system snap it up if you see in the stores. I got my stuff at Target. As far as games that are a good workout I find tennis and boxing to be very good.

She's right about that, the online prices are ridiculous and most places don't even have them in stock the next time you check.

I'm wondering if anyone has played the Ratatouille (disney movie) game (Gamecube or wii) and if it was any good. The description says it has minigames and regular mission type games.

Let me check it out....

Also--you're talking about IN the store, NOT online--because I know the online Wal-Mart (and I think Toys R Us, too) bundles it up with some other games.

In the store it should be JUST the Wii system.

(Just making sure we're on the same page.)

Also, you did check that that was the right price--that wasn't just some random tag stuck there?

I'm looking around, Amazon has sellers that are jacking up the price, Wal-Mart has super-expensive bundles...Toys R Us has it bundled with Mario Kart (which is super fun) for the price of the console and the game (you just have to buy them together)...but they're sold out right now....still looking.

Doesn't look like I can find any better online...but you should be able to get it locally (from a store that sells game systems) for $250 plus tax. Then the Wii Fit is $90 plus tax. (actually slightly under those, as people like to do the xx9.9x thing...but it's basically those prices.)

The counsole you speak of , at Wal Mart is $338 . I have no idea of anything for $250. I am not so sure I want to invest that much money for myself. The game itself is $89 at Walmart, quite reasonable, but the REST is unbelievable!

It's not a $400 console---it's a $250 console. And yes, the Wii Fit requires the Wii console. But the MSRP is set at $249.9? (just a few cents under 250)--anything more is a ripoff.

However it's a LOT of fun and well worth it. And there are lots of other games to exercise with as well, including the "Wii Sports" that is included in with the system.

Feel free to check around the team and see what else the Wii has to offer.

Hi , joined this team just to ask you guys a question.... Today I almost bought the Wii Fit, UNTIL they told me I needed the $400 dollar Wii console!!!!

This knocked me for a loop.

Does everyone here who uses this game have the $400 game in order to use it?????

I will NOT be getting one of these if this is a fact!

I can just WALK for alot less money!!!!

It does take a bit to really learn to play DDR (or at least be "good" at it). But it also makes you sweat!! And you actually work HARDER when you're learning to play than when you already know how to. (you don't take as many steps trying to get it if you know what's going on.)

As for Elebits, I wouldn't count it as exercise. It works one arm a bit because you have to point at the screen, but nothing that big. It is fun, though. lol.

But is Elebits good for exercise value while playing? I read somewhere that it was, but seeing the video of it on youtube made me question that. I also read that it gave people motion sensitivity, that's really weird. It looked cute but the video I saw made it seem like there was only really one thing to do, like you could probably do all of it sitting down.

I've played DDR before, and there are a few reasons. I am NOT coordinated in that way for one, although I do appreciate the exercise value of it. I think it's a good party game, but for just me and my boyfriend I don't think we'd be that into it. It's a little more expensive than we want to spend right now, and we didn't want the extra equipment (the mat thing) which is also why I kind of don't want that active life outdoor game either because we just don't have room to keep things like that.

I think we are going to try to rent this raymans raving rabbids game today. we watched the youtube videos and it looks like fun and it looks like it'd keep you active. There's a dance part to it too but you follow the moves on the screen with your arms and the controllers.

Has anyone played the Simpsons Game??

have you tried the DDR? I really enjoy it...was just curious why it doesn't interest you. (it's okay if it doesn't--it just surprised me.)

I think I've heard the Star Wars game "Force Unleashed" is supposed to be great for the arms too.

Elebits is fun, although I can only play a level or two at a time without feeling sick (the motion gets to me, even though I'm usually not prone to it), however Hubby doesn't have a problem with it. Think of it as a first-person shooter that is kid-friendly.

Hi everybody!

We just got a Wii! We will probably get a wii fit at some point in the near future, and i also want to get the new Jillian Michaels (biggest loser trainer) game for the fit.

Right now we just have the sprots it comes with, which I have played before so I KNOW it's a killer workout.

I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions on games that are just regular games that give a good workout?

I have read other threads on spark and other websites and found some that I wondered if any of you had tried any of these?

*Rayman's Raving Rabbids - supposed to be a good workout

*Elebits - Saw a video and it looked kind of dumb to me, just shooting at little things with the remote but people said it was very active.

*Death Jr. - Looks like fun, but I don't know if it would be very active.

ALSO:
I've heard about this active life outdoor challenge, but heard that's it's only really fun for kids. And i'm not interested in the DDR games (dance revolution)
Any suggestions are appreciated!!

I just got the outdoor adventure game in the mail a few days ago. It is a lot of fun and a good workout, but it doesn't have a lot of variety. Once you've played a game that's all there really is to it. If you are playing by yourself it may get old, but if you can get someone to play with you it is a lot of fun. Most of the games involve running and jumping on the mat, but a few involve balance and reflexes. My favorites are the kayak attack (you swing the wii remote from side to side to paddle) and the waterfall game, a 2 player game where once person jumps on the mat (climbing the waterfall), while at the same time a second player lifts up the wii remote (pulling the rope up). It's a great game to get your whole body moving, and a fair alternative to the wii fit if you can not find one or can not afford one.

Glad everyone seems to enjoy their Wii Fit, I was playing tennis the other day and was pure wiped out when I was done. Those computer Miis can hit that ball so quick on the serve.

Anyway, I'm off to get my daughter from college and have a busy weekend planned, not sure how much computer time I will be getting. So everyone be safe and keep on Wii--ing.

I think the game is actually called "Outdoor Challenge" Sorry, I was calling it the wrong name. It also comes with a mat and has several games to play. It is intended for all ages. It is selling for about $60 (mat included).

I ma going to get one this week.

Enjoy your Wii's everyone,

Shelly

The outdoor adventure is listed under the games review section (I'll add the link here).

DDR is "Dance Dance Revolution"--it has games for all systems (and mats to match the system that you're playing--they can't be changed around from system to system)...anyway, it's the game with the 4 arrows--up, down, left, and right and you have to "dance" on the mat.

I also change left to right to get an even work out...good to know others do the same. Now both side of my cheeks hurt, LOL...Vi

Good morning Gang! I've never heard of the Outdoor Adventure game. Can anyone give me a quick synopsis of what type of games it has??? I guess I can go look it up online but I'm trying to keep the chat going LOL!!!

Thanks for the info. everyone. I want to have the whole family get involved and I know they won't participate in the DDR (I do not have the DDR 1). But I am concerned the Outdoor Adventure is more geared toward children. Am I wrong about that? The local Wal-mart has both games in stock and both looked like alot of fun. I think I am leaning toward the Outdoor Adventure for now. Thanks again for the tips.

I don't have outdoor adventure so I can't give you a fair opinion. I love my DDR tho. I think it may depend if you have smaller children. I'm not sure how the outdoor adventure is for kids exactly, but I know that DDR is difficult for my 5 year old. She still likes it, but I don't think OA is as hard.

I just got notification that my Outdoor Adventure has been shipped and will be delivered on Wednesday. I'm really excited, from what everyone has said it should be a lot of fun! This will also help to ease the pain and embarrassment when I get eliminated from the "So You Think You Can Dance" challenge after the first couple of songs (lol)!

GettingFit...do you have DDR 1? If so, I'd say try out the Outdoor Adventure. Otherwise, probably go for a DDR game, so that you can possible get hooked up on a DDR challenge next time we have one. (all I have is DDR 1 and some DDR games for other systems, so I haven't actually done Outdoor Adventure--but it sounds fun from what I've heard around here.)

After we first got our Wii I made a Mii for left hand and one for right hand. I wanted to give both arms an equal opportunity to get sore...

I love my Wii fit too. The Walmart in my town actually had some in stock yesterday.........Shocking.

Here is my question to you all: I am torn between purchasing the "Outdoor Adventure" or the DDR 2. Does anyone have suggestions or think one is better than the other? They both look like alot of fun and plenty of movement involved. Help please.

The old Wii Talk was getting a bit long and was spread over 2 years time...so I figured I'd start up another general chat and see how long we can make it!

So, chat away!!
