I think each hoop counts in the rotations--so you can get 4-5 rotations at once (assuming the hoops are perfectly synced with each other)--that's how you get the high numbers.

Great job on your working out!

That's what I'm thinking too, that it makes up steps. I do understand that it gives you a pace for a reason, to keep the person exercising safe. But I feel the need to step it up a notch for the calorie burn.

I did the advanced hula hoop today and made it up to 1924! I still don't see how it justifies that many, even though we have to work harder to keep 4 hoops up. But to me it doesn't make sense lol! But you know what? I'm gonna take 'em where I can get 'em!

I also did the advanced boxing, I think it's a 10 minutes program? Got over 950 points on that one. Only messed up twice and finally realized that the "better punches" registers as 2 points.

I am up to almost 1200 steps on the free step now and then I do the Island Lap for the run. I try to do the hula hoop, boxing, free step and one of the runs in each workout when I have time. If I don't have the time I do at least 3. I also do a few yoga poses as well for my warm up and cool down.

I'm staying away from too many strength exercises because I bulk up pretty quickly and I want to lose a few more pounds first. With that I'm concentrating on the jack knives and the tricep extension.

That's where I'm at right now. Once I lose a few more pounds, I'll only do 2 aerobics per workout and fill the rest of the time up with the strength exercises.

Okay, that was just me checking in! lol Thanks for reading...

might be why you're supposed to keep pace--it can't register it when you go fast, since it's sensing the weight changes. That's my guess, anyway.

Although, you say the counter moves fast when it "stalls out"...so maybe it makes the steps up?

Yes, it does miss steps! I always add a few steps at the end...although I sometimes see the "counter" move up very quickly after it stalls out on me. What really aggravates me is the fact that it has no was to count kick steps lol!!! oh well.

Yes, she does often say "keep up with me". Well, I don't WANT to! How am I supposed to break a sweat at her slow place...even when I kick the pace option up to the fastest possible. I just pick "no sound" so the rhythyn doesn't throw me off.

I'm up to about 1150 on the 10 minute selection. I could do so many more but I'm afraid if I go too fast it'll constantly miss steps. Anyone figure out how to counter that??? Maybe it's because it's on the carpet? Although the carpet in the room I'm doing this is pretty thin. hmmmmm.....

It sometimes "misses" my steps too. I have gotten up to 1326 steps. It tells me t oslow down. Someone is going to be tired tonight!

If I dont do anything else I always do the free step. I can do that and watch something on tv or my hubby can watch what he wants and I can still work out.

The most basic way to of putting it is: change the channel from Wii to whatever you want to watch (whatever procedure you use), whether it's live TV or recorded or DVD, whatever. Just let the Wii run (and turn up the volume on the Wiimote so you can hear it if you wish).

Yes that should work! Mine is on AV2 and I have to push the TV button to go back to live TV and then the AV button twice to go back to the Wii.

My issue with the Step is that sometimes it does not register my steps. I have had it tell me I missed one while I was standing on it with both feet!! That messes with my score! I am bound and determined that one day, Yes ONE day I will get a perfect score on Advanced Step.

Well, with my TV I have to use the "source" button on my remote. I can have several things hooked up to my tv at once and flip through the source button to get to them. With my Wii I use "component 1". Now I haven't tried it yet but I would assume that if I go back to "live", which takes me back to my tv, I'll be able to watch and step at the same time. I'll have to test it.

You have unlocked it?
Pretty much what I do is start it up except for the last time you press A. I then switch the TV back to TV (because with our TV the Wii is on a Video Input thing), find the channel I want to watch and then hit A.

It all depends on how your Wii is hooked up to your TV.

Do you know how to watch the tv while doing the free step? That part I have not figured out.

I absolutely LOVE the Free Step. I was getting a little agitated with the other step aerobics. That "bing" throws me off!! It drowns everything else out and I can never get the "perfect". lol Plus you have to stay at their pace.

Anyway, the free step is so much better. I use the fastest pace (which I always go faster then anyway) and get to steppin'. Today I got to 1065 in 10 minutes. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!
