I'm trying to stay on track with a healthy eating plan. I had heard of the Mediterranean Diet before, but never looked into what it was all about until today. Pretty much, it sounds almost perfect, but do you guys drink the wine? I wouldn't even know what kind tastes good, along with being affordable, so are any of you able to recommend one or two?

Before you judge me, make sure you're perfect.

I did not do so well this week. I know why. I did not exercise due to my left leg swelling up daily. I am aiming to exercise today for at least 30 minutes. I think I will go swimming as it is suppose to be 90 degrees here in Arizona. I really need to get this weight off.

Thank you for the tip, Louise, I buy a lot from ChristianBooks.com, so will look for it.
I seem to be in a rut right now and not feeling very good about it.
This is a new week starting, and as you said, it is Resurrection Sunday...so what better day to start fresh and new?

If we saw all the difference even the tiniest of our prayers make, and all the people those...prayers were destined to affect...we would be so paralyzed with awe...that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest of our lives.

I did not do as well this past week! However, this is a Brand New Week and what better day to get restarted than Resurrection Sunday! I want to get healthy for the LORD!

I also want to recommend a Book I have been reading and going to re-read it. It is "Nutrition & Health In The Bible" by Kathleen O'Bannon, CNC and Larry Richards, Ph.D. It is based on
The Mediterranean Diet/The Bible Diet. It is an excellent book! I think you can get it from Christianbook.com but I got it a few years back so I cannot remember. Scripture is taken from the New King James Version.

GOD BLESS!
Louise

I have been really struggling lately. I put about 8 pounds on this winter, and need to get them off. I had belonged to different teams that like to play games and things but are not as serious about getting healthy. I want to do this right!!

I feel good about this past week. My attitude is changing and I am determined to get healthy for The LORD! I did Leslie Sansone's 1 Mile Walk The Walk this morning and I feel GREAT!
I am ready for the day!

We will see what next week brings! I will post next Saturday.

Hi Sue,

I'm not very well versed in diabetes itself but I'd say the fact you are praying your way through it is the key. The Lord is your healer and best "personal trainer/nutritionist" we can ask for. Ask him to guide you each day and He will keep you on track.

Blessings,
Judy

This week was a challenge! I started the 8-week diabetes weight loss challenge and my weight increased instead of decreasing. I'm guarding those 5 pounds off, though. They are still off.

I did get more exercise this week than in previous weeks so I am thankful for that blessing. I believe going back to the lower count of carbs with more vegetables will help me offset the weight gain. I'm praying my way through and I am optimistic that things will get better although I'm still not really sure what happened.

Any insight?
Sue

This week has been pretty good, not the best, but it will do. Next week is another week for a great week.

I spent time with the Lord, not as much as I would have liked, but better than no time.
I did my yoga 2 times this week

Favorite verses:
John 3:16; Isaiah 40:31; Psalm 119:50; John 8:32; I Corinthians 13

Life is precious . . don't take anything for granted.
Life is made for living, decide what you want and go for it!

Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moment, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

Yep, know what you mean, I always pray to lose the weight without getting sick.

I went completely off my diet, the past two weeks as I have been moving. Started back Sunday, so, it's going to take me a couple of weeks to get back to my new starting point. Don't you hate it when it takes a month to lose 2lbs, yet takes a week to gain 5. Gotta love God's sense of humor sometimes.

Have a great week and God bless

Ok I am starting again... Be careful what you ask God for (Ha-Ha) I asked for help with my weight and wasn't specific and he allowed me to get stomach flu last weekend. Yes, I lost 5 lbs but I would really rather not loose it that way!

"Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. ...Trust in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

3rd week in the program. Did pretty well on food tracker, so-so on water but working on it. Not so good on exercising (only twice this week) but plan to do better next week . One day, one week at a time; that's about the best I can do.

Hi Team and happy Thursday, how's everyone? I am doing well, I celebrated my 35th bday on Monday October 25th, 2010, and although I wasn’t able to meet my goal of wearing a size 20 on my bday, I still celebrated it in style in my almost too big size 22’s (woohoo).
The status of my other goals are as follows:
emoticon emoticon - at least 10 glasses daily
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon - healthy
emoticon emoticon - 3 miles a week
emoticon emoticon - at least 7 hours a night
Eventhough weight/health-wise I am doing well ….. for the past few days I have been feeling a bit reflective emotionally, not quite sad, depressed or cynical but not my usual extroverted happy self either. Maybe it’s TOM, or the disappointment that there is no new job/relocation for me yet, or, maybe it’s the fact that a few of my very close relationships have transitioned and I wasn’t expecting it. It might even be the fact that last year this time my fiancée and I were celebrating together and planning our wedding and now, one year later, I am celebrating alone while he is in Barbados with his new wife of 6 months. (sigh) Whatever it is, I feel BLAH, in fact, I wanted to eat LOTS of fatty ice cream and pizza (my comfort foods), but I didn’t feel like getting dressed to go for them so I did without.
Hopefully, it’s just one of those weeks, and the feeling will soon pass, but, if any of you teammates are so inclined to whisper a word or two of prayer for me, I’ll take that too.

Way to go! I am maintaining...a few days I had some caramel apples and fat free puddings, and a little too much dark chocolate but I am losing again and staying faithful again with no white flour, sugar or preservatives.

I had a busy week, I did try to stay away from white flour products and did good for the most part.

I did eat some bread that gave me some problems and found out that it had enriched wheat flour (I try to find only 100% wheat) in it so I think that gave me a problem.

Also I found out something else I was eating had barley in it which also gives me a problem. So, I am bloated and did not show a loss this week. The good news is that I did not show a gain either so once I get all this garbage flushed out of me I should be back to normal in a couple of days.

I had some fish crackers that hubby brought home from Sunday School but I resisted temptation not to eat the chocolate ice cream my family was eating that hubby brought home from the store over the weekend. It is gone now so no temptation, there. I overate yesterday probably because the day before I was nauseous from pain medication that I took after having surgery on my toe and was making up for not eating enough calories. I will check out one of your recipes on the team and see if I should make one this week. Hubby made lasagna with whole wheat noodles over the weekend so we are eating that this week.

I had a couple of days where I ate something with white flour in it, but at least it was not in big amounts like I use to do. Of course, it did cause some bloat, but I was still able to have a 3lb. loss this week. Praise God!

I stocked up on lots of whole grains this week so it should be a good one.

I think some part of us always says, "I do not want to burden God with this since I can do it on my own" but God knows better, that is why He comes to us and says, "Now let me take care of it" Praise God for His grace! emoticon with God

I tried two weeks of 4 vegs/3 fruits and 2 meats a day with lots of water and last weekend I stopped and pigged out and I felt terrible. I could hardly finish the ice cream I bought! I don't know why I have to prove to myself all the time that God knows better than I do!!

I had been doing well the past week with no white sugar or flour until the last couple of late afternoon days of sweets. I feel better when I cut out the sweets.

Hi Pam,

Yes, I just learned that a couple of months ago. I knew for a while that I needed to cut it out of my diet, but it's been hard trying to get my family to go without. But last week I said, I have got to stop eating it.

Did you know that white flour goes through a 20-step process that burns out 90% of its nutrients to refine it, then is bleached to make it white using chemicals? I learned these facts from the book, "What the Bible Says about Healthy Living". My spark team is named the same name as the book and we are learning SO much! Praise the Lord that you found the cause of your bloating!

I had a very successful week, last Sunday I made a vow to stay away from anything with white flour in it. I went an entire week without, I am feeling a lot better, sleeping better, and not as bloated. Praise God!

I stayed away from white flour and white sugar and exercised on an average of every other day.
