I was able to maintain my weight for several months, but now I have to get serious again as much of my hard work I let go of, putting my focus on another issue. I will keep on, until I get back to my goal.

The process of Losing Weight: Conclusion

REVIEW

I believe that we need to bring prayer into our healthy lifestyle. We need to bring everything we are trying to accomplish in our lives into our prayer life. As we depend on God He will help us with not only losing weight but all things in life.

I have talked to you about supplication, which is going to God with your needs and requests and asking God for help. I talked about the great love which God has for us. Earlier I wrote that when we understand, recognize, are conscious of, & except God's love this love fills us in a new way when begin to rely on His love more. We will love and accept ourselves more when we fully and completely receive this abundant love from God. We will lose weight, begin to lose weight, or maintain the weight you have lost as we begin to love and accept ourselves more. In John 17:18-20 Amplified Bible is says Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth. Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, and rely on) Me through their word and teaching...

As I continued on with this study I explained more in detail how to use supplication. Most recently I shared the Armor of God with you and explained what it meant. The armor of God is a prayer found in the bible which protects us. I have used the armor of God to help me do things and for protection from the devil as well. I explained what it meant to be strong in the Lord. We become strong in the Lord by trusting God. We must know, remember, and we must pray for help and realize our help comes from Him. We have to believe that nothing that we say or do, in ourselves, will fix our problems, and give us the strength we need. Our problems are fixed through God. Often our problems remain or return when we kinda forget about God and or stop trusting Him. We must remember and believe God is faithful, He will never abandon us. As we struggle through our circumstance use this time to learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

Now it is time to out all the things you have learned from this study together. I am suggesting for you to say the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) every day, but it is up to you to decide how often you want to do this, if you even want to do this at all. When I began to say the armor of God every day my whole life began to change. God gave me His strength in a whole new way. Throughout the years of leading this team those who know me well have taken my advice and began to say the armor of God every day & they have shared with me that their life has been changed too.

As well as saying the armor of God I am suggesting for you to say the Armor of God when you need it the most in your life. You will be using supplication when you read the Armor of God right when you need to exercise, or when you are tempted to eat something.

I hope you have enjoyed this bible study. I have enjoyed teaching you.

Love,

Shelly

Dear God help my team to use all of the things you have helped me teach them. God help them to remember that the things I covered in this bible study can be used in all areas of their lives. I ask you to protect them and guard their thoughts and lead their prayer life. Help us to succeed in our weight lose. In Jesus name I pray amen.

Thank you GLEORIA for your comment. I try very hard to always keep this team a priority in my life. The past week and a half I was without my lap top. It was being repaired. I had another computer to use but for various reasons it was a head ache to use and deal with. However, I dealt with the mess because I wanted to get this study out for everyone without delay. My commitment to God is what keeps me doing what I need to do. Your other team leader picked up my slack and posted some things for you guys, as well as your team member
DEFIANTVEGAN. I am grateful to God that He helps me do certain things here. I give all the credit to God, it is not me who deserves any praise. I give any and all the praise to God. God thank you for helping me type this weeks study. I appreciate you helping me find the web site which a is portion of this weeks study came from.

The process of losing weight: Be strong in the Lord

Last week I reviewed what supplication meant. I shared a prayer in the bible which is used to seek protection and strength from the Lord. This prayer is called, the Armor of God. We will be remaining on this subject for the remainder of this study.

As I already stated I sent you a prayer called the Armor of God. Let me refresh your memory of this prayer:

THE ARMOR OF GOD

Ephesians 6:10-18

Be strong in the Lord and in his mightily power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of the dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places. Therefore put on the full armor of God. So, when the evil day comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after having done everything to stand. Stand firm then with the belt of truth tightened around your waist, with the breast plate of righteousness in place, and your feet fitted with the gospel of peace stand firm. In addition to all this take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers & requests.

In Ephesians 6:10 it says,"Be strong in the Lord and in his mightily power." As we read the armor of God we can in fact be protected by the devil and his spirits. We can be strong in God. I have used this prayer by quoting it out loud. I will tell you through this prayer God protected me while I was under attack by the devil countless times. He not only protected me, but He gave me strength to do things through Him. *The following potion of this part of our bible study will come from SeekGod.ca and Vicky Dillen.

*"...When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, He leads us step by step on a narrow path. We learn to understand His love for us, and how He willingly teaches and protects us."

"As we grow in faith and trust in Him we are often challenged to the depths of our spirit, and are called to stand firm in that faith and trust. We are told to "Be strong in the Lord and in his mightily power." But, what does that mean to be strong in the Lord? Many times we fall because we really haven't learned that to be strong means to be aware of how weak we are. That the battles that are fought are battles that we in ourselves cannot fight, but rather, by clinging to the Word of God, and resting in Him, we know that the battle is already won. His Word has so many promises, and we know God will never break a promise."

DO YOU TRUST GOD?

"We must learn to trust Him completely, because He knows and understands all that will befall us. He has promised to be our refuge and we are not to be afraid, no matter the circumstances or those involved." Vicky Dillen continues saying, “God deals with the spiritual battles that rage around us. Nothing that we say or do, in ourselves, will remedy what takes place. It must come from Him.

WHERE DID GOD GO? WAIT A MINUTE, DID YOU WALK AWAY?

“Often the circumstances of the day can overwhelm us, because we may momentarily take our eyes and trust off Him. He is faithful, and will never abandon us. He allows us to struggle at times so that we may learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives."

(the following was written by me)

HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO LOSING WEIGHT?

I ask you now, how many times do we become weak and don't exercise, or give in to a piece of pie, or cookies? When I was preparing to write this week’s bible study update I thought of the first few words of the armor of God:"Be strong in the Lord and in his mightily power." I took some time and thought, how do you be strong in the Lord? What does that mean anyway?

Vicky Dillen said, “God deals with the spiritual battles that rage around us. Nothing that we say or do, in ourselves, will remedy what takes place. It must come from Him. Often the circumstances of the day can overwhelm us, because we may momentarily take our eyes and trust off Him. He is faithful, and will never abandon us. He allows us to struggle at times so that we may learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives."

I prayed for God to guide me and teach me what it meant to be strong in Him and I believe the above paragraph explains it quite well. Vicky Dillen explains that our help must come from God. When we are weak, or when we have had a bad day it is then when we must not struggle with our weakness and push our way through a workout. When we are tempted to eat in order to cover our pain we must instead go to God for our comfort and strength. It says in Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint." I believe God wants us to know that during the times in our lives when we are weak and weary we are to come to Him. God is telling us that all we have to do is ask for help and He will renew our strength. In the verse above God is reminding us that when stress has come down on us and we feel we cannot exercise all we have to do is ask for His help.

HOW DOES GOD HELP US WITH OUR WEIGHT LOSE?

Through God we will not only be able to complete our exercises we will have strength, and not be weary. We will be able to do all that we need to do and not faint. There have been times when I needed to exercise, but it was the last thing I wanted to do. In fact, I waited so long to go to they gym that day I completely talked myself out of it. But then I prayed & asked God to get me out of the house, and into the gym. Know what happened? I kid you not; it was like a breath of fresh air! I had renewed interest in working out that day. God indeed gave me interest and encouraged me to get out of the house. I mean I was excited to leave and get to the gym! When we believe the power of God, when we put God in our prayers for our personal goals He will be there to help us see them to completion. But we must seek God, persue His strength and then we will receive it. Remember, know, and believe our help must come from Him at all times, when we are weary, and when we are strong. I will state this again and repeat what Vicky Dillen wrote, “Often the circumstances of the day can overwhelm us, because we may momentarily take our eyes and trust off Him. He is faithful, and will never abandon us. He allows us to struggle at times so that we may learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives."

REAL LIFE MOMENT- WALK THIS OUT

I tell you what, through injuring myself I needed to rely only on God to help me not to gain back all the weight I lost after recovering for 1.5 years from two major injuries a few years ago. Now recently after falling down 13 stairs much dependence on God kept me from all kinds of suffering & depression from two months of continuous pain. We learn how to be strong in Christ when we seek God during our times of weakness. I have learned that we receive God's strength through HIs grace. It was God's grace which manifested Him in me during so much time in pain. This is illustrated so well in 2 Corinthians 12:9 "... My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

SO HOW CAN WE BE STRONG IN THE LORD?

1) We must trust God.

Psalm 71:1-2
In you O Lord I do put my trust and confidently take refuge, let me never be put to shame or confusion!

2) We must know, remember, and believe that nothing that we say or do, in ourselves, will fix our problems, and give us the strength we need. Our problems are fixed through God.

Psalm 71"3-4
Deliver me in your righteousness & cause me to escape, bow down your ear to me & save me! Be to me a rock of refuge in which to dwell & a sheltering stronghold which I may constantly restart.."

3) We must pray for help and realize our help comes from Him.

Psalm 125:4-5
Show me your ways O Lord, teach me your paths, and guide me in your savior. My hope is in you all day long.

4) Often our problems remain or return when we kinda forget about God and or stop trusting Him. We must remember and believe God is faithful, He will never abandon us.

2 Timothy 1:7
..Being one of grace, the Lord will hear us when we ask His presence in it. Now, the Spirit is not the Sprit of fear, but it is the Spirit of love, and of power, and of sound mind.

5) As we struggle through our circumstance use this time to learn to lean on Him with complete trust and acceptance of what He is allowing in our lives.

Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my strength, my rock, my fortress, & my deliverer, my God is my rock in whom I take refuge.

My friends I have done what I wrote about above. I have learned how to be strong in God, yet I still need practice. I believe I will spend the rest of my life always finding new ways, and learning how to grow strong in God. It takes time and practice to complete. However, as you live with God and rely on Him alone I will tell you this: you will walk victoriously with God through your circumstances! I am sharing this with you because I know from my own experience being strong in God will not only change your circumstances, it will change your life!!!

I have mediated upon this verse below, and I have asked God to complete this within my life. God renews my body, He enriches my spirit as I seek these things which this verse below states. Dear Jesus give my team a renewal through you. Give my team members your strength as this verse below illustrates. In Jesus name I pray amen.
Ephesians 1:17-18 Amplified Bible
[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how His glorious inheritance.

The Process Of losing weight: Using Supplication

Uing Supplication has alot to do with bible study.ew what supplication means. Supplication is defined as an act or instance of supplicating; humble prayer, entreaty, or petition. Supplication simply means praying to God making your needs and requests known to God through faith. It is waiting upon God to supply your need/s. At times it is worked out by creating a path of actions to walk though (that is, praying, changing things within your life) and then receiving the outcome of your efforts though God. But what does supplication mean to us in our lives?

I am going to share with you a very powerful prayer which is in the bible. Saying this one prayer has changed my life in a very real and permanent way.

WHAT DOES THE ARMOR OF GOD MEAN, AND HOW DOES IT PROTECT US?

As you say the words in the armor of God remember:

THE BELT OF TRUTH

A belt is used to hold something up, or keep it in place. We use the Belt of truth to keep all things which are true inside of us. The belt of truth represents what is true in God's word (the bible) all the things that God gives us that the bible talks about. Tighten the belt of truth means, believing what is really true, not the lies the devil tells you about a situation, or when the devil tries to make you feel bad.

THE BREAT PLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The breast plate of righteousness protects our heart, our being, our identity. The devil loves to attack who we are. Think about it, doesn't the devil sometimes tell you that; you are a bad mom, daughter, and or wife/husband? He knows that it hurts us so much. He has been doing it for so long we think they are our own thoughts. God has told me that they are the devil’s thoughts that he whispers them to us. When you are attacked God wants you to remember the real way God sees you. He wants you to remember the truth. He loves you, and has already forgiven you, healed you, and redeemed you.

FEET FITTED WITH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE

Don't lose the peace God gives you each day. Most times it is stolen before we realize it was there. The devil tries to kill, steal, and destroy all that we love, all the things we need to live a happy life. One of the things the devil tries harder than anything else is to take away our peace. You know how a fighter gets into a stance before a fight? Visualize this as you say these words, and your feet fitted with the gospel of peace.

Take up the SHIELD OF FAITH, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

The devil uses people to hurt us. Words, hurtful actions, anger from other people, anything that pierces your heart, just like an arrow- when you take up (hold up) the shield of faith, you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows that come out of a person's mouth, and body as the result of from their actions.

THE HELMET OF SALVTION

Hamlets are used for your head. God tells us to put on the helmet of salvation to protect our thoughts. It is our thoughts that lead us to sin. We think about something or someone who has hurt us and we do or say mean things. The devil attacks our thoughts so that we will sin against God. When we sin against God we tend to remove ourselves from Him.

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT

When you visualize yourself lifting up this sword, as you say these words know that God's words contain POWER, so feel that spiritual power you now possess from God's protection. The sword of the spirit is the words in the bible. The meaning of the bible, God's spoken words in it, it has the ability the cut straight through the devil and destroy HIM!!!!

PRAY in the SPIRT on all occasions with all kinds of Prayers & Requests

It says with all occasions with all kinds of prayers & requests. It doesn't say; pray when you think your life is threatened. It doesn't say, pray only when you might get fired. It says, with ALL kinds of prayers & requests. That means God wants you to pray about that bad hair day after you get out of the shower, the traffic jam on your way to work, and that vending machine that keeps calling your name throughout your work day. When you get home and your kid has gotten on your last nerve.... and then during the night you realize that your husband/wife or kid still has not done.... yet, even though they have told you 20 times they would do it. Ya, that IS what, pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers & requests, means.

Saying this prayer has changed my life. The devil used to attack me so bad it was truly unbelievable at times. My mom was the one who told me to start saying it. I started to say it, but not all the time. Sometimes 6-8 months would pass and I had not said it. I was still being attacked by the devil in a bad way. My mom told me I had to say it every day. I asked her, “God knows that I want protection, why do I have to keep asking him?

Revelation 21:4,

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more..."

God IS with us more than any other time when we are suffering. When we are in pain. When we have no one else to comfort us, no one else to hug us, it is He who fills us up with His Holy Spirit. It is within the times we are the weakest that God is there helping us. Yet, It is easier for us to think and believe just the opposite is true. Well, I am here to tell you that even during the days when I was just a baby learning and growing in Christ, even though there were times I did not feel God while I was in pain, there were these other times when God wiped my tears from my checks while I was crying. He is there wiping your tears away too! Now, all things in the Spirit we can not see with our eyes. But within, in my spirit there was God and through His love and mercy for me the tears were dried though they still remained upon my check. Now, I might be your team leader, but I tell you I am no more special to God than you are to Him. He loves all of his children a like, He is there for me and He is always there for you. In Psalm 119: 132 it states, "Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name." God looks upon us every day and in every way.

Note:

Ther above is a portion of this week's bible study. I posted this here to highlight this portion for you. While I was writing this study a few days ago I was looking for a verse which showed you that it talked about God wiping our tears away. Well, I just found that verse today. Thank you God for showing me this verse!

Below I supplied a lnk to which reflects what was in the most current update of our study. I decided to just copy and past the portion I want you to read of this article written by J. C. Philpot.

The Lord LOOKS upon His people, and is MERCIFUL unto them. There were two things which David specially saw that God bestowed upon this people; one was God’s look, and the other, the manifestation of God’s mercy: "Look upon me, and be merciful unto me, as you did unto those who love your name."

1. But how does God LOOK upon his people? Does not the Lord see all things? Are not his eyes running to and fro through the earth, to see the evil and the good. And are not all secrets open before his heart searching eyes? Do not his eyelids try the children of men? They do! But still there is a favored people that the Lord looks upon in a peculiar way, in a way in which David desired the Lord to look upon him.

1. He looks upon them in Christ. He does not look upon them as standing in self. If he looked upon them as they stand in self, his anger, wrath, and indignation must blaze out against them. But he views them as having an eternal and vital union with the Son of his love; as the apostle says, "Complete in him." (Col.2:10) And viewing them as having an eternal standing in Christ, viewing them as bought with atoning blood, and washed in the fountain which was opened in one day for all sin and for all uncleanness, as clothed in his glorious righteousness, and loved with dying love, he looks upon them not as they are in themselves, wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; but he looks upon them as without spot, without blemish, in the Son of his love; as the apostle expresses it in few words, "Accepted in the Beloved." (Eph.1:6) David saw what a blessed state this was to be in; that when the Lord looked upon his people, he did not look upon them as poor, guilty, miserable sinners, but looked upon them as having that standing in Christ, that union to Christ, that interest in Christ, whereby he could look upon them with acceptance in his dear Son.

2. But this is not the only way in which God looks upon his people. He looks upon them with affection and love. Thus, when he looks upon his people, he looks upon them with all that love and affection that ever dwells in the bosom of the Three-One God, and is perpetually flowing forth to the objects of his love, choice, and mercy. We know something of this naturally. Does not the fond wife look sometimes upon her husband with eyes of tender affection? Does not the mother sometimes look upon her infant, lying in the cradle or sleeping in her lap, with eyes of tender love? Wherever there is love in our hearts, our eyes at times rest upon the objects of our affections. So it is with the Three-One God. There is that love in the bosom of God towards the objects of his eternal favor, that when he looks down upon them from the heights of his sanctuary, he looks upon them with the tenderest affection. As we read, "He rests in his love;" (cf. Zeph.3:17) and again, "As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you" (Isa.62:5).

3. But besides this, he looks upon them in pity. "As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust" (Psalm.103:13,14). Just as when, after the flood, he looked down from the height of his sanctuary upon Noah, and those with him in the ark, and his heart went forth in tender pity, so, from the heights of his sanctuary, he looks down upon all poor, laboring, struggling pilgrims here below, and views them with an eye of pity and compassion, out of his merciful and compassionate heart. I was bringing forward just now the figure of a mother loving her children, or a wife loving her husband. But let a sickness fall upon the husband, let some affliction befall the child, and then, there is not merely a look of love as before, but a look of pity and compassion also. And if a wife could remove her husband’s illness, or a mother cure the child’s ailment, how pity and love would each flow forth to remove that which causes pity to be felt.

In the same way spiritually. The God of heaven looks down upon his poor, tried family. Some he sees buffeted with sore temptations; others he sees plagued with an evil heart of unbelief; others he sees afflicted in circumstances; others wading amid deep temporal and providential trials; others mourning his absence; others persecuted, cast out by men. Each heart knows its own bitterness, each has a tender spot that the eye of the Lord sees; and the Lord, as a God of grace, looks down upon them and pities them. When he sees them entangled in a snare, he pities them as being so entangled; when he sees them drawn aside by the idolatry and evil of their fallen nature, he pities them as wandering; when he views them assaulted and harassed by Satan, he looks upon them with compassion under his attacks.

4. Besides that, he looks down upon them in power, with a determination to render them help. Reverting a moment to the figure I have used before, a mother looking upon her sickly child, there was pity painted upon her features, compassion beamed from her eye. Could she help, as well as pity, would she hesitate to do so? But the Lord has not only a mother’s pity and a wife’s love, for he himself challenges the comparison; he says, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yes, they may forget, yet will I not forget you" (Isa.49:15); but [he has] power for his family. He has almighty power to relieve his poor suffering children, toiling and struggling through this vast howling wilderness; for "help is laid upon One that is mighty;" (cf. Psalm.89:19) who is "able to save unto the uttermost" (Heb.7:25).

2. But, besides this, he is MERCIFUL unto them: "Look upon me, and be merciful unto me, as you did unto those who love your name." David saw how merciful the Lord was to those who needed mercy. They were guilty criminals; they were fallen creatures; they were sinning continually against the God of all their mercies. And, therefore, they needed mercy. And that not once, when the Lord was first pleased to pardon their sins and deliver their souls. They need mercy not once, nor twice, but they need mercy every day that they live, every hour that they breathe upon earth; as Deer sweetly expresses it: "Begging mercy every hour"

David, then, saw the Lord was merciful to his people. He knew that upon the footing of righteousness alone, none could be saved; he knew by painful experience what hearts they carried in their bosoms; he knew what temptations beset their path; he knew what snares Satan was laying for their feet; he knew their weakness, and he knew their wickedness; yet he saw how merciful the Lord was to them; how he bore with their manners in the wilderness; how he "multiplied pardons" as the Scripture expresses it; how he forgave their iniquities; how he blotted out their sins; how he showed mercy and compassion upon those who were by nature the vilest of the vile.

He saw there was that in their hearts which justly provoked God’s condemnation. But then he saw mercy in the bosom of the Redeemer more than proportionate. He saw their hearts were full of evil, full of wickedness, full of unbelief, full of everything that God hates; yet he saw how the mercy of God abounded, how his grace super-abounded over all their sins. He saw how the mercy of God was from everlasting to everlasting. As the cloud sometimes covers the face of the earth, so he saw the Lord covering all the iniquities, transgressions, and backslidings of those who love his name.

III. The breathing of the Psalmist’s heart, that God would look upon HIM, and be merciful unto him, in the same way he looks upon and is merciful unto them. I believe I may honestly say, thousands of times have these words gone out of my lips, "Look upon me." Rarely do I bend my knee in prayer before the Lord of hosts without the words, "Look upon me." How expressive it is! As though the desire of the soul was that the Lord would not pass him by; would not consider him unworthy of his notice; and would not banish him as from his presence, but would cast an eye of pity, love, and compassion upon him.

1. But mingling with this desire, that the Lord would "LOOK upon him" was a distinct feeling of his helplessness, sinfulness, and unworthiness. It is as though David was lying at the footstool of mercy clothed with humility, sensible of his sins, feeling the inward vileness of his heart, and judging himself unworthy of the least smile of God’s countenance, or the least whisper, of God’s love. But still he could not but see that the Lord had a people who loved his name; no, he himself felt a measure of this same love. He might not have the full assurance of it. His heart might be desolate and afflicted. Doubts and fears worked in his mind; but still, amid it all, he felt the tender goings forth of affection to the name of the Lord, which was precious to his soul; he felt nearness of access unto his sacred presence; and there was that in his heart which was melted down into love and tenderness at the very name of the Lord. "Because your name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love you." (Song of Sol.1:6)

But mingled with this tender affection, blended with this secret and sacred love to the name of the Lord, was a deep sense of his own worthlessness. And these two feelings always go together. Far from my heart, and far from yours who desire to fear God’s name, be that bold presumptuous confidence that claims God’s mercies, unmingled, with any movement of godly fear in a sinner’s bosom, unmingled with a sense of worthlessness, weakness, and wickedness, that ever lives in a regenerated breast. No; wherever there is any true love to the name of the Lord, wherever there is any breathing of affection after the name of Jesus, depend upon it there always will be mixed with it the deepest sense of our own worthlessness. David could not but feel that there was love in his heart toward the Lord’s name. David could not but feel there was a people that, like himself, loved that name. David could not but see that the Lord looked upon that people with an eye of love and pity. David could not but see that the Lord was specially and peculiarly merciful unto them. He himself experienced these tender sensations of love in his bosom. He was deeply penetrated; he was inwardly possessed with a sense of his own worthlessness; but he dare not intrude. He stood at a distance, and could not go boldly and presumptuously forward. He drew back, as being one of the most worthless of those who sighed after the Lord’s manifested favors. Thus, the very expression, "Look upon me," not merely implies that David had a love to the name of the Lord, but also, mingled with it, a sense of his own undeservedness that the Lord should bestow upon him one single blessing.

2. Again, "Look upon me" implies that his soul was in that state and case which specially needed a look from the Lord. If your heart is hard, you need but one look from the Lord to dissolve it. Was it not so with Peter? When Peter had sinned so grievously, when he had denied his Lord and Master, do we not read that Jesus turned and looked upon him? What was the effect? The stony heart gave way; the obduracy of his mind was melted; and we read, "Peter went out, and wept bitterly." (Luke 22:62) We often feel a sense of our obduracy and impenitence; but, if the Lord does but look upon us, he can melt them away in a moment. There is also a sense of our vileness, our sinfulness, our wickedness; a feeling of this nature: "O that the Lord would but look upon me, though I am so utterly undeserving of the least notice, or least favor from his hands. O that he would cast an eye of pity and compassion upon me, for I cannot do without him."

3. It also implies that the soul desires some special, personal manifestation of God’s mercy and favor. David could not be satisfied with hearing about God’s mercy, nor reading about God’s mercy, nor knowing there was a people to whom the Lord did show mercy. He desired that the Lord would look upon him, visit him, bless him, and manifest himself to him, come down into his heart, visit his soul, bless him with sweet manifestations of his dying love. And is not this the language of the brokenhearted sinner at the footstool of mercy? Does not this express simply the feeling that he has at the throne of grace? "Look upon me;" here I lie at your feet, all helplessness, all weakness, all wretchedness, all inability. I deserve not the least smile from your countenance; I deserve not the least whisper from your mouth; I deserve to be trampled under your feet into everlasting perdition. Yet, Lord, I cannot do without you. "Look upon me." Give me one look of mercy; give me one look of love; give me one look to bring into my soul that which my heart longs to feel.

To see, it may be at a distance, but still to see, the people that the Lord looked upon with such peculiar looks of pity, compassion, and love, he could not but covet a measure of the same blessing; and his heart burned within him that the Lord would bestow on him similar favors.

Has this ever been the experience of your soul? What do you pray to God for? I suppose many of you fall upon your knees before the footstool of mercy. What do you pray to God for? Is it for some special blessing to your soul? Is it for some manifestation of Jesus to your heart? Is it that the Lord himself would look down upon a guilty worm, and speak to your soul in the soft whispers of his mercy and his love? These are true prayers, these are spiritual breathings; this is the intercession of the Spirit in the sinner’s bosom with groanings which cannot be uttered. Do you know what it is in soul experience thus to lie in humility, in simplicity, in sincerity, in brokenness of heart, in contrition of spirit, before the footstool of mercy, crying, "Look upon me."? "Me," who am utterly unworthy of your mercy. "Me," who have continually backslidden from you. "Me," who am the vilest of the vile, and the guiltiest of the guilty, yet, "Look upon me;" for I cannot bear that you should pass me by unnoticed, that you should not look upon my soul, as you look upon your children. This is a cry which, most surely will be answered.

"And be MERCIFUL unto me." When shall you and I get beyond the reach of mercy? Shall we ever get beyond feeling a desire after it as long as we breathe here below? God keep us, who desire to fear his name, from ever living a single day without breathing, more or less, after the sensible manifestation of mercy. "But," say you, "you have had mercy; what do you want it for again? Will it not do once in your life?" The man that makes that speech knows nothing of his own heart, knows nothing of the manifested mercy of God to a sinner’s soul. As sins abound, as guilt is felt, as corruption works, as the conscience is burdened, as the iniquities of the heart are laid bare, as our hearts are opened up in the Spirit’s light, do we not feel our need of mercy continually? Mercy for every adulterous look; mercy for every covetous thought; mercy for every light and trifling word; mercy for every wicked movement of our depraved hearts; mercy while we live; and mercy when we die; mercy to accompany us every moment, to go with us down to the portals of the grave, to carry us safely through the swellings of Jordan, and to land us safe before the Redeemer’s throne? "Be merciful unto me" Why me? Because I am so vile a sinner; so base a backslider; such a daring transgressor; because I sin against you with every breath that I draw; because the evils of my heart are perpetually manifesting themselves; because nothing but your mercy can blot out such iniquities as I feel working in my carnal mind. David saw that this mercy was peculiar mercy. He says, "Look upon me, and be merciful unto me, as you used do unto those who love your name." He knew it was not common mercy that the Lord bestowed upon those that love his name; but inexhaustible mercy, everlasting mercy, super abounding mercy. For he knew that nothing but such mercy as this could suit such guilty sinners as those who love the Lord’s name.

David was too well instructed in the mysteries of his sinful nature to expect that that nature would ever be anything but vile. David knew too much of the weakness and wickedness of his heart to dream for a single moment of perfection in the flesh. David never expected to be in a spot where the mercy of God should not be needed every hour. But he saw the people of God were dealt with in a different way from other men. He saw that they were of that blessed generation upon whom the dew of heaven fell, and his heart longed after a measure of that dew to fall upon his soul.

Has not that been the case with you sometimes? You have gone among God’s people; your heart has been oppressed, cold, and dead; but you have gone and conversed with some of God’s saints; you have seen grace shine in them, and your heart has been sweetly warmed in your bosom; you have felt your soul melted and dissolved under the unction and grace of their words; and you have longed to experience some of the things that they have been speaking of, and that the same power and dew that rested upon them might rest upon you. Well, you have said nothing, but have gone away, hastened away before the time, put on your hat, or your bonnet, and gone away. But when you got away, O what a going up of your soul towards the Lord, "O that you would be pleased to look upon me! That you would give me some sweet manifestation; that you would grant me a blessing that will satisfy my heart!" So that, seeing grace shining in the person with whom you were conversing, there was a communication of life and feeling whereby you longed after a similar manifestation of mercy and love to your heart; after the same divine dew and blessed unction to water your soul.

It is something like, in nature, two farms or gardens, upon one of which the rain has fallen plenteously, while the other is dry and parched. The owner of the latter, while he looks only on his own ground, thinks it may do. But let him go a little distance from home, and see a farm richly watered with the rain of heaven, and covered with verdure; when he returns to his own patch, and sees no such crop there, does he not long for the same fertilizing rain to fall upon his land? So spiritually. If you go among the people of God, and see grace shining in them; the image of Christ in them; the blessed Spirit carrying on his work in them; their souls clothed with beauty and verdure, while you are cold, dead, and dry; does not your soul long to experience some of the same blessings, and be watered with the same dew and rain that have fallen upon their hearts? When the soul is here, we can say, "Look upon me, and be merciful upon me, as you did to those who love your name." "Lord, give my soul a portion of that blessing which springs from the operations of your Spirit in the hearts of your children." When the child of God sees clearly the operations of the Spirit in the bosom of another, his own heart longs after a measure of that same power to rest upon him, that the same fruit of the Spirit may be brought forth in his heart, in his lips, and in his life.

Sweet spot to be in! Safe spot to be acquainted with! Far better than that vain confidence and presumptuous assurance which many make their boast of, who never doubt, or fear; always see their interest, and claim God’s covenant mercies; can say, "My Father, My Jesus," with unwavering breath, while, perhaps, they have been wallowing, half an hour before, in all manner of uncleanness; while their hearts are as covetous as the devil can make them, and their hands polluted with everything that this world can soil them with. God’s people cannot walk in this path. They cannot get upon these mountains, where there is neither dew nor rain. This is their spot, when they are in their right mind, to lie at the footstool of mercy, waiting upon God to shine away their fears whether they shall ever get to heaven; to have low thoughts of themselves, as the vilest of the vile, and the weakest of the weak; to put in no claim, but simply breathe forth their desires to the Lord, that he would show mercy, favor, and kindness to them.

There may be some here who are in this spot. Perhaps they have been writing bitter things against themselves, because they cannot tower to the same height of assurance as some speak of; because they cannot sing those hymns which are sung in some chapels; because they cannot use that bold language they hear fall from the lips of others; and thus they are sometimes tried, condemned, and cut up in their feelings, as to whether they have the love of God in their souls at all. Now, if there be such a one here, can you not find some of the feelings I have been describing, some of the experience I have been endeavoring to trace out in your heart?

"Look upon me." Is not that the desire of your soul? You could not utter that prayer before the Lord quickened you. Before you can utter that prayer you must have faith to believe that the Lord does look down upon his people. You must have a desire in your heart that the Lord would specially bless and favor you. You must he weaned from all creature righteousness, creature wisdom, and creature strength, and be looking to the Lord to bless you with that blessing which makes rich. Do you not see how kind and tender the Lord is to his people? Do you not see that they are the only people on the face of the world whose lot is worth envying? Does not sometimes this petition, if not in words, at least in substance, steal out of your heart, "O that you would look upon me." Though I am a vile wretch, though I am a guilty sinner, though I am a base backslider, though I am a filthy idolater, though I deserve to be banished from your presence, though I merit to be trampled under foot, yet look upon me! It is what my soul desires, that you would bless me, that you would show me your mercy, that you would shed abroad your love in my heart, that you would speak with your own lips, and whisper into my heart, "Fear not, for you are mine."

And when you read in the Word of God, or hear from the lips of some experimental man of truth, the feelings of God’s people, those whom the Lord has really blessed; when you hear of the rain and dew of heaven falling upon their souls, and the secret of the Lord resting upon their tabernacle, is there not in some of your bosoms a longing desire that the Lord would so bless you, so manifest himself unto you, that you may enjoy the very same things in your own heart, by an application of them with power to your conscience?

Now you who know something of these things in your soul may, and indeed certainly will, be despised by heady professors; you may be ridden over by them, trampled under foot, cast out as knowing nothing; but, depend upon it, you have true religion, more vital godliness in your hearts, that know some of these feelings, desires, and exercises by divine teaching, than all these high and heady professors. Yes, there is more true religion, more vital godliness in a sigh, cry, and groan, in a simple petition put up out of a laboring bosom at the foot-stool of mercy, than in the presumptuous language of all the hypocrites in the world put together. There is more of the Holy Spirit’s work in the conscience of a sinner that goes burdened, exercised, tried, and distressed to the throne of grace, and there looks up to a bleeding Jesus, and longs after an application of his atoning blood to his conscience, than in all the presumptuous claims that thousands have made with presumptuous lips. Here we have it in the Word of truth, here we have before our eyes the experience of a saint of God, drawn by the hand of the Spirit; here we have the breathings of a tender conscience, the sighings of a broken spirit, the utterance of a feeling heart.

Now, can you find yours there? Look and see whether you can find anything of the experience of the 119th Psalm in your soul. Never mind what people say about you, nor what they say against you; no, nor even what your own heart may say in your own bosom. But can you in honesty, simplicity, and godly sincerity, find David’s feelings in your bosom? David’s prayer in your heart? David’s breathings in your breast? If so, God has made you a believer. If so, you are under divine teaching. If so, David’s God is your God; and as sure as David is in glory, so surely will you be in glory too.

But as to a religion that knows nothing of these things, neither sighs, nor cries, nor breathings, nor groans, nor longings, nor languishings, nor meltings, nor softenings, that feels no contrition, no tenderness, no godly sorrow, no desire to please God, no fear to offend him, away with it! Throw it into the river! Bury it in the first ash-heap you come to! The sooner it is got rid of, the better. Religion without heavenly teaching and the Spirit’s secret operations; without a conscience made tender in the fear of the Lord; without the spirit of prayer in the bosom; without breathings after the Lord; without desires to experience his love, and enjoy a sense of his mercy and goodness; all such religion is a deception and a delusion. It begins in the flesh, and it will end in the flesh. It is all that man can produce; and as the Lord says, "Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God," (1 Cor.15:50) so fleshly religion cannot. "The flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you," said the Lord, "they are spirit, and they are life." (Jno.6:63)

But if there be within these walls any who know something of these fruits in your souls, something of this experience traced out by the Spirit of God in your hearts, you are safe, though perhaps you cannot see it yourselves; you are secure, though your hearts may sometimes quake and fear. For the Lord, who has begun the work, will carry it on, and bring it to full perfection, satisfy you with a sweet discovery of his grace and love here, and eventually and eternally bless you with a weight of glory.

The Process Of Losing Weight: God Watches Over You

We have already established that Jesus prayed for us while He lived on this earth, and that He has never stopped praying for us. So, I hope that you realize just how important your prayer life is, and how Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit work as one concerning our prayerS, needs, and requests.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRAY FOR YOURSELF?

Before I started this study God He told me that I was not praying to Him when I needed the most help. It was God who brought me to this study and helped me prepare it for the team, and it is God who wants me to tell you to rethink the way you pray. Think about why you pray. Spend some time remembering who you pray for. Where does your prayer requests for yourself fall between the people you pray for? You see, God wants us to pray for those we know and don't know, but it is imperative to pray for yourself as well. Our spiritual well being depends in part of the prayers we say for yourself as well as others.

YOUR PRAYER LIFE NEEDS YOU IN IT

I will share with you that if I did not spend time praying for myself I would be a bit of a mess! God helps me to be strong and He protects me, however, He protects me and helps me even more when I pray for myself. There is nothing spiritual about NOT PRAYING for yourself.

GOD IS WATCHING OVER YOU

God looks upon us every day. We can't begin to completely wrap our heads around the fact that God looks upon His children not once a year, not twice a year, no not even every other month. The truth is God has His eyes on us every day. Many people think and believe that more often than not God does not look upon them. They believe that because of their circumstances, due to how they feel, and what their mind tells them that God is not even near let alone watching over them. People think God many times is ANY THING but NEAR. Earlier in my spiritual journey while I was suffering it did not feel like God cared about me much less was looking with love and compassion towards me. My brain told me, if God is here , if He is noticing me then why WHY am I suffering, why doesn't He help me? No, more than anything else, WHY is He not taking this circumstance away from me? God does not care, He is not here with me, and God wants me to suffer through this! But you see, those things are all just lies from the devil. He is preying upon us feeding us hurtful misconceptions conceived by himself to trick and fool us. You see, the simple truth is God IS with us more than any other time when we are suffering. In Psalm 119: 132 it states,
"Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name." God looks upon us every day and in every way. To see the truth behind this read, The Lord’s Merciful Look Upon His People. You will find a link of this topic below in your suggested home work.

Spark People Team Leader, GLITTERGIRL, from Team, "I Can't Do This On My Own", helped me reach my goal in 2012. I was able to maintain my weight for several months, but now I have to get serious again as much of my hard work I let go of, putting my focus on another issue. I will keep on, until I get back to my goal.

1) Spend some time thinking about your life and ALL the areas you need help in.

2) Then on a piece of paper write out the things you need help with.

3) After you have written down a few things you need help with or at least one thing, write it out and form a prayer. (If you have a hard time with prayers look below I wrote one for you if you need help with this. Just fill in the blanks so it applies to your circumstance)

4) At least once a day find some time to be alone and sit and talk to God. After you are done talking to God get the piece of paper with your prayer written on it (see # 3) and read the prayer. After reading the prayer closes your eyes and wait for God's presence. Give Him enough time to settle within your spirit.

3) I created a prayer for you if you have a hard time creating one for yourself. Fill in the blanks for your personal need/request)

Dear God I come to you with____________. I need your help. Please__________________. Help me to _____________. In Jesus name I pray amen.

Week four Part Two: Asking God to Meet Your needs Through Supplication

Asking God to Meet Your needs Through Supplication

What Is Supplication?

As I stated last week supplication is defined as an act or instance of supplicating; humble prayer, entreaty, or petition.

Supplication Should Be Worked Into Your Life
Going to God to Meet Your Requests

We will never see a marketable commercial for this one, yet with our every need this world tells us there is a cure, a product, and money pays for it all! And, listen sometimes it does! God works through doctors, products, people, movies, or a song. There are no limits to God's power and God does not discriminate who and what He works through, so let Him work through YOU!!!! Let Him do a good and thoural work through YOU!

Let God In

God wants you to come to Him for your every need, and He wants you to talk to Him about your life. I mean, He wants you to ask Him for help in ways that you may not think to have used Him before. He wants us to use Him in areas of your life that your mind tells you, “Oh God isn't interested in THAT part of my life; it doesn’t have anything to do with religion or being a good person.” That is one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves. I tell you the truth, God wants to be involved in ALL of our thoughts, ALL of our feelings, ALL of our actions, and in ALL of our needs: The big, the bad, and the ugly. The simple need like, God help me with my hair, my clothes, & my cooking. The desperate needs, God help me with my marriage, I need help with sex, and I need help with my sexual issues. God wants it all, and only when you use God for ALL areas in your life will you begin to see the power of God through your life. How will you ever know the strength of God, the help of God, the miraculous ways of God & how He works if you only pray," God help me," and leave just at that?

THIS WEEKS PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear God thank you for helping me with this study this week. Please God help my friends find you within their problems. God I ask you to help them become closer to you. Help them with their homework this week. God as they spend time talking & praying to you I ask that you fill their hearts with your Holt Spirit. In Jesus name I pray amen.

1) Write this verse on a piece of paper: Psalm 14:10 Teach me to do your will for you are my God. Let your good spirit guide me into a level country & into a land of unrightness.

2) Using the same piece of paper you wrote the verse above on also write the prayer below which I created. Stick this in your purse, & put it on your frigate:

God I pray that you will teach me to eat in a healthy manner. God please help me with my exercise routine. I believe that your Spirit will help & guide me because you are my God. God as you guide me into a better way of eating and exercising I will get off the roller coaster which I have been on. I believe God that through your Spirit you will guide me and teach me a better way to live. Then I will live in a balanced way which is right through your teaching. In Jesus name I pry amen.

3) Throughout this week say this verse and prayer (above). Do it as many times as you need help throughout the day and the week.

I will answer the question I typed out above:

What does supplication mean to us in our lives? I can only truly speak for myself. But I believe the same answer can and will be applied in your own life if you use supplication in your daily life. As the result of using prayer to meet your needs in your life you are creating a stronger relationship, a better bond between you and God. If you spend more time talking to God and praying to God I believe you will get to know Him better. As the result of getting to know God better you will feel peace in a better way than you may have experienced peace in the past. By spending more time with God I believe you will receive grace on a more intimate way because you are abiding in God. Put simply, praying to God more will help you in unlimited ways, in every aspect of your life.

The process of Loving Weight

The Process of Losing Weight: Asking God to meet your needs and requests through supplication.

Do you want to change your life? Then change your process, and you will change the outcome. Change your process of thinking and you will reach the desired effect, the most rewarding fulfillment, the prize which you are seeking- Gods answered prayer: Change your life, by changing what you seek, and it all starts with God.

To reach a desired result of a circumstance we must go to God for our every need. Seeking every answer from God, in the big things in our life, and in the small areas of our life, we must talk to God about it. We must share with God our feelings, and we must wait for His answers regarding our prayers.

YOUR NEEDS ARE MEET THROUGH PRAYER

Our needs are met through prayer. In Philippians it tells us, "Do not fret about anything, but in every circumstance & by prayer & petition [definite prayer requests] with thanksgiving (this just means thanking God while you pray) continue to make your wants known to God. Then Mark 11:24 completes it by explaining"...Whatever you ask in payer believe that it is granted to you & you will [get it]".

ASKING GOD TO MEET YOUR NEEDS & REQUESTS THROUGH SUPPLICATION

What Is Supplication?

Supplication is defined as an act or instance of supplicating; humble prayer, entreaty, or petition. &gr;link&lr;dictionary.reference.com/brows
e/supplication&gr;/link&lr; Supplication simply means praying to God making your needs and requests known to God through faith. It is waiting upon God to supply your need/s. At times it is worked out by creating a path of actions to walk though (that is, praying, changing things within your life) and then receiving the outcome of your efforts though God. But what does supplication mean to us in our lives?

What Does Supplication Mean To Us?
God told me that I was failing to reach my goals NOT because I was not trying hard enough, not because I was not praying enough, and not because I was not disciplined enough. I was not meeting my goals with losing weight because I was not going to Him when I needed the most help. Friends this can be applied in every circumstance, in every situation in your life, but today I am applying it to losing weight.

ASKING GOD TO MEET OUR NEEDS & REQUESTS THROUGH SUPPLICATION

All of my life I have been turning to food for comfort. I have used food to lead me to a certain feeling, but in the end eating lacked the sufficient emotion & result. Food did not result in comforting me in the end because I traveled down the wrong path. Traveling down the wrong path can lead us to destruction. In Proverbs. 16:25 it states, "In our minds eye there is a way which seems direct, but it is a road of death." You see I turned to food for comfort , but I should have turned to God instead.

Do you struggle at times with staying within your plan to lose weight? Many times I think we feel like we are on a rollercoaster with our eating and exercising. We eat really well for a while but then we are not up to par with exercising, or vice versa. In Palm 14:10 it says, teach me to do your will for you are my God. Let your good Spirit guide me into a level country & into a land of unrighteousness. This verse can be applied to our behavior relating with people, as well as our thoughts. Today I am applying to your diet. You see I will break it down for you:

Using Supplication to Meet Your Needs:

Psalm 14:10 Teach me to do your will for you are my God. Let your good spirit guide me into a level country & into a land of uprightness.

“Teach me to do your will for you are my God. Let your good spirit guide me...”
In this situation it can be applied as- God teach me to eat in a healthy manner. I believe that your Spirit will guide me because you are my God.

"Let your good spirit guide me into a level country..."

In this situation it can be applied as- God I believe you will help me and teach me,& through your Spirit you will guide me.

"Let your good spirit guide me into a level country & into a land of uprightness."

In this situation it can be applied as- God as you guide me into a better way of eating and exercising I will get off the rollercoaster which I have been on. I will stop having periods of eating well, or exercising well, and then dip into period when I exercise much less often, or eat all kinds of things I should not. God through your Spirit you will guide me and teach me a better way to live. Then I will live in a balanced way which is right through your teaching.

Lets look at this verse again: Palm 14:10 Teach me to do your will for you are my God. Let your good spirit guide me into a level country & into a land of uprightness.

How can you apply this verse to help you lose weight?: Create a prayer out of this verse-

God I pray that you will teach me to eat in a healthy manner. God please help me with my exercise routine. I believe that your Spirit will help & guide me because you are my God. God as you guide me into a better way of eating and exercising I will get off the rollercoaster which I have been on. I believe God that through your Spirit you will guide me and teach me a better way to live. Then I will live in a balanced way which is right through your teaching. In Jesus name I pry amen.

As I typed above we can use supplication to meet your needs, which means praying to God, making your needs and requests known to God and through faith. It is waiting upon God to supply your need/s. At times it is worked out by creating a path of actions to walk though (that is, praying, changing things within your life) and then receiving the outcome of your efforts though God.

So what does supplication mean to us in our lives? If you do this exercise you will find out.

I am asking you to...

This weeks home work is explained above.

My prayer for you:

Dear God I thank you for all that you do for me each day. I ask you to bring this truth which you have revealed to me to my team members as well. God I ask you to penetrate this through your Holy Spirit. I ask you to magnify yourself in them. God please help us to become closer to you through spending mote time with you. God please help my friends on this team lose weight. I come to you and ask that you are glorified through my words, this study, and as the result of this prayer. In Jesus name I pray amen.

SANDRALEE thank you for sharing. Yout reply made e think of something.

Jesus answers our prayers and helps us even when we just sigh. He knows our thoughts before we can even complete them in our own minds and feel them. Many years ago I was taking a test. I was afraid I was going to fail it. Comfort came to me right after I sighed. I was thinking, God help me, yet was so disturbed I was not even completely aware of my own thoughts. It was only after I had completed the test, and the person who graded the first stood before me.... I am not writing this very well. What i am trying to say is, I was so very frightened I was going to fail that test. While completing it I struggled toward the end of the test. I sighed as my fears came before me. I thought, oh I think I am going to fail this test! It was just at that very moment God stood in my place and helped me. You see, I did not know the answer, and yet somehow I answered all the questions correctly. God helped me in my distress, when I had asked for help through my sigh. I thanked God and was quite amazed in fact. This is how God works, yet we don't always see it, don't really feel it. But God made it clear to me that day. His love, His devotion to me, His tender loving care was wrapped around me, and He helped me.

My friends nor matter how bad your day is there is someone on this earth who is having a worse day than you. Now, I am not saying, feel good because someone else is worse off than you. I AM SAYING don't feel sorry for yourself because it could be much worse. I am encouraging you to never forget that God is here for you. He is in you, and He is always next to you. Never forget that.

The Process Of Losing Weight: Jesus Prays For Us

JESUS PRAYS FOR US

ALL of your needs will not be met without prayers. You may not even know who has prayed, yet through each prayer at some point in our lives we will be helped in some way or another as the result of those prayers through God. Jesus prays for us. In John 17 it records some of the most extensive interaction of prayer from Jesus. Jesus prayed for His disciples (verses 6-19), and for us (verses 20-26). Jesus prayed for His disciples in: John 17:6-19.

John 17:6, 9
I have manifested Your Name [I have revealed Your very Self, Your real Self] to the people whom You have given Me out of the world. I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they belong to You. To read John 17:6-19 in it's completion click the provided link:

Jesus prays for us today. Jesus has prayed for us & it was written in the bible too. In the book of John 17:18-26.

John 17:18-20 Amplified Bible

Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth. Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching...

read these verses in John 17; 18-26 in completion by clicking this link:

Jesus has shown you His love last week and throughout all of the weeks within your life before last week. He will continue sharing and showing you His love for the rest of your life. One of the many ways Jesus demonstrates His deep love for us is through praying for us, yet how often do we even think of His prayers while we live out our lives? I learned long ago that Jesus prays for us & defends us while talking to God and the devil (this is written in the bible) but I for one don't think of God praying for me at all. I thank God for bringing this fact to my attention through this study. Make this study count in your lives! Don't waste my time by just reading these words. I do it with love, but I am taking my time because I want your lives to be changed. It can all begin with your time, prayers, thoughts, and result through your actions. Establish and create your relationship with God. Give Him your time, make him #1 in your life. I encourage you to do the suggested home work which comes to you through my prayers. I believe with all my heart God whispers in my ear and gives me home work for you to complete.

emoticon HOME WORK:

You may wish to get a note book & record your prayers to Jesus.

Jesus's prayers are ever present because He has never stopped loving us. Spend time this week thanking God for praying for you.

1. Write out prayers ot verbally spend time saying prayers to God thanking Him for praying for you.

2. At some point this week you will need help doing something. You may be help with styling your hair, cooking, or doing something at work. You may need patience while you are in a traffic jam, or with your kids or husband or boyfriend. Whatever the need, whatever the situation, practice asking for God's help this week.

In a note book write down what you needed help with. Then underneath your sentence stating what you needed help with. Leave space & explain how God helped you. This help may work into your life within a period of time not within this current week. Be sure to come back to this exercise if needed.

My Replies to Alenjoshep & LIVINGSIMPLY and anyone else who wants to read along:

I really appreciate those of you who left replies. I hope that everyone continues to take some time and write out comments, prayer, and advice for your team members, as well as ask for prayer requests.

Janis You can do it! There is a way! I truly understand how you are feeling. Every time I go to PA to visit my mom, sisters, and in laws I too face this the same delima. No one in my family eats healthy like I do. I am faced with all kinds of sweets, especially at my in laws, and it is very hard. I have to pray and rely on God extra duty when I go for to visit EVERY time (and we go there at least three times a year). I have learned to take my own food, and my family accepts this. When I go there for more than two days I just go to the store and buy the food I need to eat to not gain weight, and stay on target with my goals. Most times I make my own meals too. We eat together but I eat something different. If the meal which is cooked is healthy I eat with them and watch my portions.

Now, this may not work for you. However, it is critical that you learn how to maintain your weight, and learn how to eat while on vacation or visiting family, it is all part if your new healthy lifestyle.

First of all you still have access to Sparkpeople as long as wherever you go has internet service. All you have to do is get on the computer and log in as you normally do. I am a bit confused about why you think you can not access your nutrition page.

I suggest taking a set of measuring spoons, and measuring cups. This way you know for sure how much you are eating. I have done this and it works well for me. Or you can learn how to judge how much you are eating by eye balling serving sizes. I do this too, but I normally just use measuring cups.

As years pass you will learn what works for you, this takes time. I am at the point that I don't even care what a server thinks about me, whether it is Applebee’s, or a fine restaurant. Recently I was at a very fine restaurant and when I ordered my salad I told them I brought my own salad dressing while I was ordering my salad. I refuse to let a restaurant mess up my daily calorie goal just because their salad dressings have too many calories!

I will be including a link which will help you eye ball one serving size of various foods.

Have fun at your sister’s house. Pray to God for self-control, and help. Most times I take some index cards and write out verses which will help me while I am visiting my family. I put them in my purse and read them daily. Although I am very close to y family and love the very much, it is extremely stressful while I visit them (those who live in PA) they just live very differently than me.
1 Corinthians10-13
No temptation has over taken you that is uncommon to man. God is faithful & He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability to escape, that you may be able to endure it.

As far as exercise if you really want to exercise you will. Pack your video exercise tapes you have told me about. If your sister does not have a VHS player, but has a blue- ray player, or a DVD player buy a cheap workout DVD. Take warmer clothes or cooler clothes, can't remember where she lives...TX? One nice thing about using walking as a form of exercise is that you can walk most anywhere. Walk at least 20 minutes per day while you are there. If your sister loves & supports you as much as it seems she does she will understand how important it is for you to eat correctly and exercise while you are staying with her. She may even decide to exercise with you. Once she realizes that this new you and it is not just a fad, she will realize that the way you act during this visit is the way your life is. It is you and your new healthy lifestyle. Now all of the things I wrote about are just suggestions. Do whatever you feel comfortable, ok.

God I ask that you give Janis extra love and support while she is visiting her sister. Help her to stay within her calories limits. Help her to remember to exercise. I also ask that you work within her sister and help her to respect and support Janis's lifestyle. In Jesus name I pray amen.

LIVINGSIMPLY

I am so glad that you are here. I have missed you, although I know it was me who was too busy to write and keep in touch like I wanted to. Sometimes I get too busy being a leader, and I need to be a member a little more. I believe that it is God's will for you to be here. When I read your email I felt that this study would help you, and the funny thing was that you had changed your user name, so I thought you were someone else. So, I must have discerned in my spirit that God wanted you here even though I did not know who He was talking about since I had forgotten your new user name... funny huh? Thank you for your kind words about the things I do for God. I love the people on this team so much, many of them I do not know too well. However, I have been blessed because there are a lot of team members I have developed a very close relationship with. But, I know that God has given me a kind of love for people that was not there before I become a leader the for this team. It is my devotion to God that keeps my priorities straight. God is #1 in my life. I wake up and make Him first in my thoughts and prayers before I get out of bed. Then when I do get of bed I make my time surround Him and abide in Him. Doing such things each day is the only way that I can serve Hi as I do. It all is about God through. Nothing that I do I can fully take any credit for. For it is God which gives me the ability to be obedient to Him and this team. I thank God, and I praise God for your comments. God receives all the glory for what you and Janis said about me. I thank you both through for your kind and loving words. Dear God I thank you the most.

Dear Jesus I ask you for keep my dear friend sheltered while you are healing her back. Dear God I know that within your time all this will come to pass. Dear Lord I ask in prayer again that you heal y friend's back. Please god continue to do your will with regard to her health and well being. Also God help her to remember to go to you daily for your direction for her life. In Jesus name I pray amen.

I love you both!

Hi Shelly,
I thank God for you. You have been so willing to do His work in your life and in the lives of those on this team. Thank you for your notes of encouragement.
I just want you to know that I have decided to join this study and have copied off the first two lessons. I look forward to seeing what God is doing in the days and weeks ahead.

I would like prayer for my back, that God would heal it and help me to continue to do His will with regard to my health and well being. That I would remember to go to Him daily for His direction for my life.

Janis,
I am sooo blessed by your testimony as to what God is doing in your life. I pray that as you continue to seek Him and to do His will as He reveals it to you, that He will draw you closer to Him. Also that your life will be a blessing and encouragement to others around you.

God bless you all,
Sue

Our Dear Shelly, do you ever get any rest? Wow! You have written alot these past couple of days. I truely appreciate all you do for us. In what you gift us with, it is so obvious to feel God's part in this.
Well Shelly, I'm getting anxious & somewhat nervous about my vacation to my Sister's next Thursday. I don't think I will have an opportunity to exercise for possibly the first four days. I'll be too tired the first night, and then their will be other company at my Sister's I'm concerned a little on food too, but as I told my sister if it is food that may be a bit more fattening than what I normally eat, I will eat smaller portions. It may be food that I might not be able to record as I won't have a nutrient chart to follow. I'm also concerned that I won't be able to do as much on the computer like I do now. How do people on Spark People deal with this? I'm sure I'm not the first, but I would appreciate some suggestions. I told me Sister that I'm not about to put the weight back on that I have lost. I'm going to miss a number of days recording my nutrition, fitness & message board. Is there anything I shouls do before I go?
I love your studies Shelly! God is good! emoticon

The process of Losing Weight: Love & acceptance Part Two- GOD'S LOVE FOR US

Just like so any other things we struggle to obtain within ourselves I have learned that this progression of loving myself can only be done the best way, the most complete way through God. As I was praying for guidance for this study a few days ago He told me to add this to our study:

John 4:16-17 Amplified Bible version

And we know of, and believe the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.

My thoughts on this and how it relates to this study:

GOD'S LOVE FOR US

When we:
Understand
Recognize
are conscious of
except God's love

When we understand, recognize, are conscious of, & except God's love, this love fills us in a new way. We begin to rely on His love more. We will love and accept ourselves more when we fully and completely receive this abundant love from God. We will _______ (fill in whatever applies to you: lose weight, begin to lose weight, maintain the weight you have lost) as we begin to love and accept ourselves more.

emoticon HOME WORK:

Ask God To Show You His Love For you On A Daily Basis

1) Ask God to never allow one time to go by without you being aware of it when He is revealing his love for you.

2) When you receive this in your spirit make a big deal about it. Let your joy flow through you and receive it completely.

3) Then thank God.

God shows up in our lives every day OPEN YOUR EYES magnify your EMOTIONS to become sensitive to His love in your life. There is no such thing as a coincidence, or accident. God's love is brought in our lives through events, & big and little things which happen in your life most times through people. Don't make the mistake of thinking a person did it, God did it THROUGH that PERSON.

Dear God I pray that each person on my team and in this study is helped through you as the result of this study God. Oh God, how I thank you for helping me teaching me this through you. I thank you and praise you for all of your help. Dear God as this week- end starts I ask you to take my friends hands in this study Lord. Give them your help in all areas of their lives. God show them ways that they have never thought of, ways which they have never known of, and ways they have never seen before, of your love. Wrap your love around them God and magnify it within them. Your precious love completes us, surrounds us, and is in us. Let this love be known, found, and never depleted within us. Help us to continue to know of you. Help us to think of you, and help us to be of you. In Jesus name I pray amen.

I'm just loving so much about these discussions, Shelly. They really make you think...and God is so good! I'm tired right now but I will be doing my half hour of exercise shortly, and I already recorded all my food for the day in my nutrition tracker. I didn't eat my supper yet, and I will after I exercise. These last two days I have been gone for the day. My appointment with my Family Doctor went so well yesterday. He was so pleased with all my bloodwork and my weight loss, and my blood pressure too. I'm so grateful that God brought you into my life to lead me even into a deeper relationship with Him. I was thinking this morning, as I was driving to a meeting where I meet with a group of recovering women. I was thinking of a past hurt when I was at one of these meetings, probably about 3 years ago, or more. A woman younger than myself was speaking, and I asked her a question in a kind way out of concern as to what she was telling us. I really wasn't being rude, but she treated me as though that I was rude. I even apologized but she did not acknowledge my apology. I said I was sorry more than once and she would not say anything. She's a working person so she would come from time to time and we always got along until that morning. She came back about 3 or so weeks later and brought up how some friend had told her she needed to face this as it had I guess upset her. I actually don't know why she made a big thing about this, but I felt belittled & humiliated in front of my lady friends. I have not liked her since because I again apologized when she had returned and she still did not acknowledge my words. I do not treat people that way. It was very hurtful and I felt I was being treated like someone who had done something so wrong. She had not liked the fact that I had said something before she was done speaking. I thought I was being kind. I was not in her eyes. Shelly, you have helped me see that I need to surrender this to God and humble myself. I read that about how badly you've been treated at times. I now understand surrender much better. I need to bring these kind of things to Gods feet and rise above these hurts and say why not. Our Lord suffered so very much and died a horrible death for all of us. My hurts are so small. I feel through your studies being brought closer to God. I want to be all I can possibly be for Him. I have alot of work to do, and your beautiful studies are such a blessing.
May God continue to inspire you and use you as one of His Shepherds. May you feel Him pouring Grace upon you as you do all these things to help bring people into a more intimate relationship with Him. emoticon
Sending love & prayers your way, Janis emoticon

Oh Janis tears filled my eyes as I read your entry! emoticon emoticon When you started writing on my Spark page I never thought in a million years I would actually ever get to know you! As I read you comments I realized that you had so many things to learn about this web site, so as I wrote & explained how to do things on this site our friendship grew as I explained things to you, but to me it was all about being a good team leader, but I was blessed as the result of my effort through you!. Although as we exchanged emails and become friends as a result from teaching you how to do more and more things, I never thought I would actually talk to you on the phone. Although, as I tried to help you with more details it become clear to me that the best way to help you was through talking to you on the phone as I taught you how to use the food tracker (nutrition page). I was remeber being so happy to be able to really help you Janis. It was such a joy to my heart to know that the time I spent on the phone with you was truly going to help you!

What started out as a desire to help one of my team members has resulted in a beautiful friendship! I am grateful that God has brought people on this team into my life in such a way so many times in the past. God is good, and He works in ways we know not. Thank you for the things you wrote about me. It is God who helps me be dedicated to this team. Janis you have blessed my life. I thank God for you! emoticon

I am loving this new way of life, and I realize it's a lifetime journey. On February 4th, Shelly, who isGLITTERGIRL69, a very outgoing and encouraging Team Leader, wanted to teach me how to use the nutrition tracker. Thanks be to God for her help and encouragement, I've lost 13 pounds. I exercise every day now, and love doing it. My body fells better. I record my food every day and I do know it's a lifetime journey. I go to see my Family Doctor later this morning. I am according to my scale, 10 pounds lighter since my last visit. Shelly has helped me change my attitude about diet & exercise. I love my diet and my new outlook on life.
I hope you can feel it in your heart how grateful I am for you and for all your help. This is the Team that turned my life & attitude around. God has blest me with you, for your Leadership.
God bless you Shelly. May you always feel Him at your side giving you strength & courage.
Love you, Janis emoticon

The process of Losng Weight

The Process of Losing Weight: Asking God to meet your needs and requests through supplication.

In this portion of the study we will be learning about supplication, and what it means for our lives, today right now, within your current circumstance. Do you need help? God is using this study to fulfill your prayer/s, your request, the very thing you asked your friend, your mother. What has been nagging you, the one thing you can't escape from your thoughts. The answer to your thoughts… what is the answer to your question? Supply your needs through supplication. Use the act of prayer (which is presenting your needs and requests) to receive help from God.

The process of Losng Weight: Love & acceptance

You can look in any fitness magazine and find all kinds of information on eating healthy, and all kinds of exercise routines to follow, but if you don't have the right mind set all this knowledge goes to waste & the outcome suffers as well.

Listen I know what I am about to write about because I have lived through this for more time than I would like to admit. You have to accept yourself enough not to hate yourself as you are changing your habits and doing all that hard work to lose the weight, (and that takes a lot of love). But you have to love yourself enough to make the changes. You have to accept yourself enough to be content with yourself but love yourself enough to make enough changes to lose weight and be healthy. I feel this is worth repeating so I am going to write this again: You have to accept yourself enough not to hate yourself as you are changing your habits and doing all that hard work to lose the weight. But you have to love yourself enough to make the changes. You have to accept yourself enough to be content with yourself but love yourself enough to make enough changes so that you will lose weight & be healthy.

Let me tell you I know what I used to look like, and I want that back! I was practically near my weight loss goal three years ago. In that time frame I had three serious injuries. I managed through hard work and discipline, and much time spent with God, to not gain back the 35 pounds I lost- kept it off for almost two years after the weight was gone. However, after the first injury although I did not gain weight during those eight months it took to recover, the next eight months it took to recover again I started to gain some of the weight back. Now falling down 13 stairs in Feb of this year, even more weight has been gained. It is more than a little overwhelming at times when I think about what I have been through.

These last two years well, maybe closer to one year I have been praying and asking God to help me find beauty in myself through Him and nothing else. In short I asked God to help me to receive myself worth through Him. Although I thought that God would lead me to bible verses, or a bible study, or a spiritual book, it happened through something else. What resulted was a love experience. I have learned how to be able to look at the reflection in the mirror while naked and seeing beauty within my bare body. I looked past a full belly, hips which had widened, and thighs which have tuned into flab. To be honest there are times I do not like the way I look or feel, but this is a process which has both good and bad days.

As long as it took, and as hard as it has been I know and understand that through love and acceptance losing weight can be obtained in a much healthier and successful way once you accomplish this. And much more your weight once lost can be maintained as you continue to lose weight! How can you hate something that you are trying to change? How can you feel good about yourself when all the things your mind hears is hatred coming from the most hurtful words which are destroying any real and lasting progress? I am being real when I say it can become a vicious circle? You work out and eat less while trying to eat healthier to lose weight. You are not losing enough weight and or it isn't coming off your body fast enough. Between that and all the negative things you tell yourself at some point you eat whatever it takes to temporally feel better about yourself. Within a matter of time after you completed eating the verbal attack fires within you mind and the self-hate talk begins again.

It seems like forever I have been waiting to do the things I used to be able to do which helped me lose weight and keep it off. (I am talking about exercising, and although I am still not able to do a lot of some of the things I used to do because my last injury- falling down 13 stairs just happened 2 months ago. I am still recovering from that) but these last one and a half weeks I have felt totally defeated and my eating was out of control for two weeks now. I have been trying to make myself feel better, mask that physical pain I have been suffering from with food. Guys, I KNOW better than that! God is the only real thing I can put inside of myself to make myself feel better, so what the hell is wrong with me?

You guys, some days last week and part of this week it was like I needed all the help I could get from God and what help I was receiving many times it felt like it was not enough! Now I started to feel empowered again like I was a few weeks ago & it came from remembering all the times God has helped me before. It helped to share with my mom and sister how I was feeling. After I got off the phone I know they prayed for me. Besides that I have been praying for myself at times several times a day in fact. Yesterday morning I was in a bad place. I pleaded with God for additional help. I knew I needed His help, but I also knew I was in a battle. It was time to roll up my sleeves and tell myself to shake off the defeat, get in a better frame of mind.

I got myself out side and into the sunshine. I went shopping and bought a birthday present for a friend. I started planning different ways I would make her birthday special, and as the hours passed, and different things were bought for her I began to feel better and better. Now, let me make this important point. It was not the money I spent which made me feel better, it was the fact I had gotten my mind off MYSELF, and began thinking about SOMEONE else, and how I could make that person feel good.

After the shopping had been done even though my feet were hurting I was able to get a really good workout completed. The remainder of y day was full of joy, and happiness!

I will be real honest with you. I am not all the way there yet with eating the way I know I should, but I eat much better than I did even a year ago. I am very close to eating a protein, a vegetable and complex carb with every meal and just eating those things each day except once a week. But I still crave sweets throughout my week. Last night I wanted so badly to go to the store and get some ice cream to eat, and I already had my sweet treat for the week. I had to tell myself to wait and my craving would pass, but moments later I was visualizing myself riding in my car & buying anything that I liked that was sweet. I asked God to help me. I told myself if I allowed enough time to pass I would beat this strong desire to eat my sweet. You know what; it did pass, just like I knew it would.

I know with time I will be able to love myself better. Some days are so easy. I know I am pretty, I just want more than what I am right now some days. I have come to realize that even if I don't lose weight I am enough the way I am. I acceptance myself enough to love myself. But I love myself to encourage and push myself to change. I will in the future write you again & tell you about the weight I have lost. How I used God to fight all of my battles including food. I will explain how I believed that God would help me lose weight again & how He has empowered me. And when that day comes I will praise God and bring Him and give Him all of the glory!

But, since all of those things have not happened that day has not come yet, however I will share this with you. God I give you much praise for the help which you have given me thus far. I know in the past you took away my desire to eat the things which caused me to gain weight. I know God as I continue to resist those foods your power will be worked through me again. Dear God you are my refuge, my shield, you are my strength, my deliverer. God you not only helped me to resist sweet foods which helped me to lose weight, I stopped being able to eat those things because they tasted bad to me! God only you could have done that. And although those foods I still cannot eat I have allowed myself to eat two things which I have been struggling with now. But God I ask for your renewed strength. I know you will fulfill my need!!! God through my injuries of falling down those stairs I have learned how to use the fruit of joy and peace while I have been in so much pain. God, although my days have not been perfect because at times I did use food instead of you for comfort, the positive out weights the negative. God I thank you for helping me to grow during this time. Lord thank you for continuing to heal my body. God in your perfect timing I will lose the weight, and complete my weight loss goal. I thank you and praise you in advance dear God. I thank you, and I will never stop praising you!
