Shelly , yes it was a bit long, but you needed that time to share what you learned and wanted to pass onto us all. This is what we do and besides once you get into the Word and it sends you a message, you have to take it to where ever you can. You did good!
You didn't lose me, you made perfect sense and spoke from your heart, which was feed and lead.
I am into James this week and he is another that just lays it right out there, no cutting to the chase with him ;-) Paul I always seen him as such a teacher. I have a vision of him as the old school instructor or the man that greets everyone at church, but stops to share and pat a child on the head. The leader of a man's group, but also trying to pop in and maybe see if the women might need a few words of encouragement as well, but always making sure they get the whole message and also the directions to the assemble and checking on their time schedule. Always faithful and yes striving for perfection, making sure nothing was missed. Every i dotted, every t crossed...he didn't want to lose a soul. Yes a great leader and teacher...you are in good company Shelly, real good company.

The word of God tells us to pray and ask daily for our needs and wants and hopes and desires and dreams to be full filled and then the next new morning when His mercies are again new and tender ask for more of what is desired. Just keep asking and thanking Him for all the provision daily in the name of Jesus and sealed in the shed blood of the Lamb Christ Jesus, yes, Shelly you are right on.
I have written in previous posts that I am determined to live the life God died to give me. God wants us to experience all if life’s riches. He wants us to receive abundantly all things which are good. Now this does not mean a life of perfect circumstances, but it does mean we can endure anything and be at peace, and receive joy!
So, this takes some time, discipline, lots of studying, and practice to make it work in our life. I have just started to study it out for myself a few weeks ago, and I thought as part of my study I would write about things I have learned as I read, or write about things I feel are important. I am studying all the books which Paul wrote since he is the one who talks about The Life in the bible.
I am basically dissecting verses. It is not about the mass amount I absorb, rather the quality of my understanding of what I have read. It is through that kind of quality of understanding & revelation from God that will change me. I read to incorporate change, not for head knowledge. I am just sharing all this with you so that we are on the same page. There may be times when I will only write about 1-5 verses, and that is because I am taking 1-3 days just reading and re reading these verses and incorporating them into my life. I encourage you to follow along with me. Read what I am reading and share your ideas with me. I am on 2 Corinthians 6. I take my time but you can go at whatever pace you chose. This is what I read yesterday:
2 Corinthians 6:1-3
LABORING TOGETHER with Him then, we beg of you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, in the time of favor I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance. Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance behold, now is the day of salvation!
Have you been praying for God to help you with something? Have you been telling God you want to lose weight, but are not exercising, and eating better than you used to? Are you praying to God to take a situation away from your life but are not doing your part in trying to make it better? Is there sin in your life that you are asking God to remove, and yet you are not doing anything to actually remove it from your life?
Hey, I can write about these things because I have done them all. I figure if I have done them then there is a pretty good chance you have as well. I am happy to say that I have prayed and asked God to help me die to an area of my flesh and I have died and buried it! I give God ALL the credit because it was only through Him that I could have done it. It was a stronghold (a stronghold is anything that keeps you in sin. It is bondage) and it was causing a partial spiritual death. A spiritual leader cannot die inside, for if they do they are ineffective. I refuse to be your leader and not have a good effect on you. I have to live a certain way or I cannot write about the things I share with you. Almost everything I write about represents my own life. As a result I live a certain way. Now, I stumble, and I fall. I am not perfect...don't get the wrong idea! But, I strive for perfection, I use what God gives me and I try my best each day, and at times I fall sort, and sometimes I get lazy and don't try as hard as I should. However those lazy days are few and far in between.
Paul wrote, “LABORING TOGETHER with Him then, we beg of you not to receive the grace of God in vain." What does he mean by that? Paul was writing to a church and they needed some instruction. He says laboring together because he had been praying for them and asking God to help them. Have you ever prayed for someone and you wanted their life to change MORE than they did? It can be a little or more than a little frustrating huh? Think about how God feels. You pray, you plead, or you ask God to please take this away from you. Then you do nothing to correct the situation. Just as Paul wrote to his church so now I write to this team and I stress upon this, don’t receive the grace of God and turn you back on Him. Don't ask for His help and not try to help yourself in the process of the days which follow your prayers.
Now, maybe some of you are saying,"Hey, I prayed and prayed, and I have even cried, no grace has come my way." But, I say this to you; do you feel nothing at all? Have you read about your problem somewhere in a post, blog, or an article? Was there a solution given? Has a friend or a coworker said something that gave you hope? Have you heard a song, or seen a movie which shed some light onto your situation? Come on, that IS God giving you grace. Don't ask God to send a lightning bolt to get your attention... He helps us in many ways and through many people, but we have to be looking, we have to be listening, we have to be in tune with God to receive His grace. And more than that we have to want, and be willing to change.
Why did Paul ask them not to receive God's grace in vain? He explained that, in the time of favor God has listened to them and acted on their requests, or in other words, answered their prayers. Therefore God has helped them and delivered them. Hey, I will be the first to tell you in order to receive you first have to believe. Do you think you are praying empty prayers? No, your heart is in your words correct? God hears each one of your prayers and He takes them to heart. He not only hears them He in His perfect timing starts to help you do just as you need to do. In other words, he starts to give you His grace. When God gives us His grace He helps you to do what you need to do.
In conclusion Paul says, “Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance behold, now is the day of salvation!" If you gave someone a present and they threw it away wouldn’t you think that person was being ungrateful, and did not appreciate your kindness? Well, Paul is saying now is the time for a gracious welcome. Now is the time to act. You have prayed God has given you His grace. It is now time to say thank you God and DO YOUR PART. God has not only given you the grace you need He has in fact delivered you from it. He has run ahead and has done it for you spatially. Can you wrap your head around that? He has run ahead and covered the pot holes so when you start to run you won't fall into those big holes....understand?
Now, it came to my attention that there are some of you who are reading this who do not regularly pray for yourself. Well, I believe there are a few reasons for this, and now is not the time to address them in my post (it is getting long enough don't you agree? I have already lost a few due to its length) All I can say is that if you want more help and more of your needs met you HAVE to start praying. There is NOTHING spiritual about NOT praying for yourself. And that is just the simple truth; I don't care what anyone has told you, I know this from God Himself!
