...my daughter and I were just speaking of this, this morning.
God loves us all...ALL! ALL!! Equally!
Man loves who he sees fit to, like likes likeness.
I am so strong on name calling, placing others in a "category", putting someone in a "group" ,"tagging", what we do or allow in our society is shameful. The hatred out there is not only out there, it is in our schools, our neighborhoods and sometimes even in our homes.
Young people and their slang and thinking it is OK to tag, tear another down to build themselves up.
I ck my daughter's FB often, this morning she actually brought it up to me. One of her "friends" called another friend a horrible name and was really mean to one of her friends and others chimed in and added to the hatefulness. I asked her what she wanted to do. She unfriended 2 of them and the other she messenged and simple asked why?
The power of words. Empty mean words, come from an empty heart, filled by a sinful world. She also added a prayer; to the hearts of hurtfulness. She then messenged the friend that they attacked.
Yes these are kids and words, but guess what they have learned behaviors, and much comes from their environments and homes. What example are we setting when we turn a deaf ear to the young people and do not want to get involved, with them or with others that need our love and help. I say bring your kids with, when you do reach out, and perhaps they can also learn for themselves, but also could pass on better love traits to another kid who they hang with.
Clean out around our circle, set example in our own circle, and continue to make the circle bigger including more and more. All the hot air does nothing unless applied, be a doer not just a mouth. Walk the walk, get guts and stand up and stand for something. Declare today enough is enough.
Psalms 23...the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want...
wanting only, is not enough, He wants us to go above and beyond in all we can!
The Lord will protect you, the Lord will guide you, the Lord will lead you, He has and will meet all of my needs to reach out and make a difference for all!
What better way is there to show Him my love than to be a doer. All the words do not feed a hungry man, but true food will.

Blessings,
~+~

Shelly, Jesus' blood was shed for all, not only for those we consider acceptable, those we do not fear, those who appear clean or proper or friendly. He went out of His way to seek out those who were UNacceptable, the hated tax collectors who betrayed their Hebrew brethren, the prostitutes, the lepers. He leads us by example. We, too, should express love and compassion to those who make us reach outside our comfort zone, who look different, sound different, ARE different. God safe us from spiritual snobbery and elitism. His love and grace are so much bigger, broader, more vast than we could ever fathom. We are so prone to pigeonholing our efforts, restricting them to certain areas in which we feel safe. We should take caution, lest we get gobbled up by a whale and spat out to the places God has called us to share his love and truth!

well said Shelly,
Amen!
I have always reached out to the less fortunate to find out that they were some of the most blessed.
I have such issue with even verbal abuse of others. The words on used in this world drive me crazy. The slang, rude remarks. Using words to reference another from someone who has no clue of the hurt effects it can cause or do not care. I speak out and get in situations when I see this, but have learned never to attack the one doing it, but reach out to their victim instead. The world has many!
I heard a man yesterday say a horrible racist remark about the people in Japan. I had to walk away I was so angry. But the devil loves to take a whole crowd with, if he can with his hatred. I always pray for God to lead me in this area. I have been on a receiving end of hatred and it is by far one of the worst thing possible to live through and beyond.

God Bless all of His children.

Missy I was not here on the team page this past week end, so I pulled my thread out to read the new comments. I started with yours since I had read the comments below yours before. I love what you shared. So many people, including Christians really believe things which are not true about guy people. Although there are many shows on TV about their lifestyle, in everyday life most guy people still feel shunned from main stream life. It is a shame. Anyone who rejects God's children should have a burden placed to their hearts to correct their behavior and show Godís love to everyone. We can open this up to many different types of people. The handicap, people from different ethnic groups, those who have mental problems. Jokes are made, a stare is given, and their lives are affected by who they are or how they have been treated. If the love of God resides in each of us that love MUST be shown to EVERYONE! God doesn't pick and choose who and how He loves He just loves. The man who rapes that little girl, He cradles him in His arms and weeps. The mother who abuses her little children, Jesus prays for the woman and tries to help her with patience. The gang bangers on the streets God holds their hands and tries to hold them back. Team, I know our God and my precious Jesus. Yes, they do judge us all, and yes they hate sin, but they love the sinner. That love which so clearly and easily flows from them is to flow from us as well.

There are some people who will read my words, and it will be you who does have a problem with judgment, hatred, or shame. Let my words penetrate you, and let God in deeper. Change your heart, and change the way you treat others. The new way you show your love to others - It will change your life

Applehead,
There was a point in my life that I seemed to be where you are at.
If I may, I can tell you what has worked for me, not saying this is what you need to do or just should do. But I can tell you that it worked for me, even when it seemed like it wasn't working and I wasn't getting what I needed in a spiritual walk in Him (Jesus Christ).

I read and read and studied Mark 1st, and also when to Psalms for peace. Until I understood His Word I could not move on to understanding, even when I wanted so badly to. I had to look at His Word, slowly, calmly, then absorbing it to understanding. It has taken me time in the Word to move on and into what He offers each of us. Yes differently, in different ways and in our time He alone chooses for our own walk in and with Him.

There were times, I wanted my instant spiritual connection to get me going into a walk like everyone else seemed to be enjoying and also benefiting from, with an eased heart, His filling love. Until I got to a good consistent place of study, I was not receiving. Now that I have a consistent study and sharing time in His Word, with a personal connection in spiritual prayer, I am being filled with His grace and spiritual gifts of Love.

Missy, What a beautiful testimony in your grace gifts from the Holy Spirit. How awesome He has touched you, so you can touch others for Him.
Victory!

Blessings,
~+~

Spiritual?.. Huh. That's a good question. Spirtually I am not where I want to be. Due to the past and issues with family that often question not my faith so much as my self esteem. I love myself, sometimes other times not as much.. It depends on the day. But, when I feel espeicaly sad about something anything. Even if I'm not feeling sad I'm just feeling confused or, stressed, anything I pray. Praying is a very spiritual thing obviously and, doing so makes me feel much better at those times of my life.

Praying is, believing and... trusting that God knows what's right. :)

Foremost, God has poured forth of His love into my life and enabled me to share it with others. As a young Christian on my way to a season of full time ministry, I well remember standing on Bourbon Street with our street witnessing team, mostly listening to what the other, older Christians in our youth group were doing. I was 18 at the time. A young Latino man was standing across the street. As my eyes fell upon him, I was overtaken with the most incredible, profound awareness, assured knowledge of love for him. I'd never experienced anything like it. I could feel the love of God toward Raul, literally. I had no idea what I was doing but I rushed across the street and told him hello, introduced myself, then told him what I'd just experienced, how very much God loved him, not just the whole world, but HIM. He shook his head no and told me that could not be possible. I insisted that it was true, that God had revealed that outrageous and powerful love for him to me. He asked me if I knew what a homosexual was. Keep in mind, this was in 1978 so homosexuality was not as mainstream then as it is today. I told him very honestly that I thought I did but I didn't think I knew anyone who was homosexual. He said, well, then you know that God can't love a homosexual. My jaw dropped. I couldn't begin to believe that he could doubt such a precious and personal love. I did my best to make that clear to him. He would not allow me to pray with him there on that quiet end of Bourbon Street, but I have carried that young man in my heart all these many years and have often prayed that at some point, somehow he did come to accept the love of God and surrender himself to it. I knew that night that the revelation of God's love for the lost was a gift He'd given me and it is one I've asked Him to continue to cultivate within my life, helping me to never doubt God's love for anyone, anywhere, no matter who they are or are not, what they've done or not done, and to give me opportunities to express that love to them in practical ways that they can accept. After years of working with addicts and alcoholics and prisoners, it finally dawned on me that God had given me a desire to love the unlovely, a hunger to love the unlovable, and it is a gift I cherish beyond measure. Glory to His name!

Gee I don't know I was majoring in the Arts while in College. Always had a passion for it in H.S. so went to college but didn't finished started up 10 years later but while going through my divorce it was difficult and I couldnt focus or continue. emoticon Was a sad time for me.

I do have that skill maybe I should start up for fun and see where it goes but I was told I am a giver from my H.S. BF's mother who I reconnected with it was 26 years I contacted my HS Sweetheart who had sent me an email back in 2008 but at the time I was with someone so I didn't respond we broke up last June 2010. So I felt I owed him a response so I said Hi and we were able to meet and discuss many things that were sad moments and we sorted them out it was an emotional time for me but I made my peace and we forgave each other for all the hurts and pains we caused each other.

I spoke to his mom to and I got emotional just hearing her voice in over 26 years. Wow she asked me about how my life has been we shared a lot, we brought up some good and bad times and how much I have grown since then.

She told me that I was a very giving person I was shocked then I started to think about it and I can really say that I am. So it was a good feeling to hear it form someone else many times we don't see our worth, I don't mind that I like to think of others first before myself.

I truly believe He can and does all things for us each as He sees fit and for our time in our walk of learning through Him.

I also believe that fruit and spirit gifts can cross and get woven together in His journey for us.
Cooking for example; I watched a priest the other day on His cooking show, teaching at the same time.

I also believe we have seasons were our gifts change. I use to be a gifted gourmet cook, now I am a gifted healthy cook :-)

I have been given a spiritual gift of discernment today. In my development in Him, He has lead me to and also leads me away from things, such as simple things like not reading a certain book and reading a different one. Or simply ,shutting the TV off. More serious things like stopping a certain church and leading me to another. Not listening to certain things. Even telling me in dreams, things He wants for me to look up or into and find a message He wants me to study. Many of my dreams are very clear and He is there with me. His hand on my shoulder.

People do not always want to share things like this because of fear. Fear of rejection, fear of being pegged, judged, laughed at or sneered at. It is not always comfortable to walk in His Light in our faith and spiritual beliefs. Due to they are personal, and He gives us as He sees fit, not another person, church or group, sees fit. We are accepted by Him, loved by Him and how He alone leads us...in our obedience to Him.

I love when gifts are woven into a beautiful pattern of His Love, for us all to appreciate and perhaps even learn from.

Blessings,
~+~

My life is his the day I got saved and asked him into my life. So whatever he leads me to do. I am there and I have done it..
My first priority each day for the people pray for them. Talk on phone and share Gods word. Once a week or more.
I made scrapbooks for people that God has put in my path the last years. Also who I have met on the Christian site I belonged too as well. Two years ago. I try to be a help on here and encourage others in their Spark page and also make comments on pictures in the albums of theirs.
I make occasional cards and have sent cards to the sick children in hospitals. Cards for the lonely.
I was a warrior for many years and I was asked to sent my home made cards to help out my friend who is a lady Pastor and she was in a car mishap and nearly died . She asked if I could help that ways as she was an American Preacher. She was so weak to answer all her prayer requests and send cards out to the sick at that time. . I did for years to help her till she became strong for us to do it to-gether. She took more then two years to heal. The Lord does say. When you do something it is better not always tell but do it and be thankful I can. Amen.
Sometimes to others it may seem boastful so I lay low on telling all that I do.. He says be Boastful of nothing you do. Just do it in love. Give the Lord the Glory!

Margaret How is your husband doing? I hope things are still going well.

I know we are given all the FRUITS of the spirit. Please make sure you are not mixing up the fruits of the Spirit with the GIFTS of the spirit. Getting the two mixed up is sometimes easy to do. The fruits of the spirit are: love, joy, patience, peace, faithfulness, self-control, goodness, kindness, and gentleness.

However the Gifts of the spirit are, as in Corinthians 12:8-10 : To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

Although I was talking about talents, in my post God certainly has given all of us spiritual gifts and or talents. Yes, you may a gift/s of the Spirit, or talents, or both. But, my main point is God gives us all something to use to bring Him glory and praise. Whatever things you do well are talents, and I believe God wants us to serve and glorify Him through these things. I was just saying that both spiritual gifts & talents which God gives us are through His will, can be spiritual gift you use them to bring glory to God.

I appreciate you bringing this area up though. It is a joy to read any view and even things which donít relate bring about interesting conversations between us.

Bobbie, the Holy Spirit is strong within you. Ask God and you know he WILL share tis this you, in whatever way he feels you will receive the answer. There are so many ways to glorify God through our gifts, which was what I was trying to get across in my post. Which is why I am very glad you wrote, ďI will do whatever is needed to be done at whatever time or place He needs it done." We can use our spiritual gifts each day in a different way doing different things. The Holy Spirit is strong within you, I know because I felt it so strongly when we met each other last summer. I believe you try your best to do whatever God tells you to do each day. One thing I know for certain, as we seek God and try our best to serve Him, He will make available to you whatever He wants you to do in your life. The important thing is to be aware of it, and ask God, is this what you want me to do to serve and glorify you?

Shelly, this is really a most power packed question. To this day I still do not know the answer to lthat. I command myself daily to walk in love and peace. I will do what ever is needed to be done at what ever time or place He needs it done. My life is His life because He gave me this life. I am here for Him to use me for many different purposes not just one. but, no, I do not know what my gifting is.

I have studied the Fruits of the Spirit and have tried to figure out what gift I was given (some religions believe that all people are given all gifts)...I still do not know, but i just ask God to lead me.
As my paying job, I am a Paraprofessional at an Alternative School /Learning Center, but I donate time and buy the children little gifts when they have done well.
I was a CASA volunteer for 2 years and a hospice volunteer for almost 3 years. I volunteer for anything I am capable of doing at church. My husband gives the sermon at a little church twice a month, when he does that I give the children`s sermon. I like doing things for the church, I feel in a way that i am trying to repay God for all things He has done in my life.
I am still looking for my niche in life (need to find it quick, I turned 55 in Jan!)....but i just ask God everyday to lead me and i will follow....He has never let me down.

and renew a steadfast spirit within me..."

(A) What spiritual gift has God given you?
(b) What way/s are you sharing them with others?

So, what are they? Please share with us, and if you want, answer both questions. We were put on this earth to be a light to the world and this can be accomplished by the gifts which God has given us.

I hesitated in answering this question myself. I don't want to list the things I did/do and not have you see God through it. I try my best to stay humble in all that I do. My intention is to be an example for Christ by sharing how I serve God, but in telling you what I do, will God get lost somewhere, I hope not.

It is through God that I can do anything at all. I am blessed by not having to work, so I have extra time to do many things for God, and I try to put my time in good use. God has given me talent, and I took what my mom taught me early in life seriously as I grew up.

These are some ways I have served God in the past:

volunteered at a school as a teacher's aid for the blind and low vision children
volunteered at a homeless shelter
made jewelery and gave it away at a shelter for Christmas presents
wrote a few letters to an inmate in prison
taught Sunday school (children)
Helped a needy single woman who was blind (had a family)

There are a few more things, but I just can't go on. I am sorry I could not type eveything. I am sharing this as an example, and it is just a way to give you ideas. I do stuff here as your team leader, and I volunteer as a big sister through the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. I do everything I do for God and to bring Him glory. I believe that you guys do understand, It was hard to type it, it really was. However, I am putting aside what some may think and know I listed the things above to help bring ideas to other people.

(A) What spiritual gift has God given you?
(b) What way/s are you sharing them with others?

One of the things my mom taught me as I was growing up was that God made each one of us special. She told me that he gave each one of us our own special beauty. She also taught me that God gives each of us special talent or gifts. Later in my life in my life I learned these gifts, or talent God has given us are spiritual gifts.

The list and kind of spiritual gifts are endless, and I believe they have no limitations used through God's will.

How does a talent or gift grow into something beautiful in God's eyes? I believe our gifts grow and become more beautiful in God's eyes, and therefore become spiritual gifts when we share them with other people to glorify God. We are put on this earth mainly to serve God and to glorify Him. There are many ways we can glorify Him, but I will share two of them, obedience and that is sharing our talents with other people, BUT by glorifying God in the PROCESS. the last part of that sentence is KEY. many people are talent, and they do share it with their family, friends, and the public, but they fail to GLORIFY God in the process of doing so.

Here are some talents you may process:

emoticon Seeing God's beauty
Some people may disagree, and that's ok, but I believe this is a gift. How is God glorified by it? By bringing God into the beauty around them. By telling others this is what God gave us, the tress, the ocean, & the sky, and the world around us. Sharing it on this team by writing about it, writing a book and publishing it, and God's word is filled in your words. Writing about God and sharing your thoughts about nature, and it's beauty.

emoticon emoticon Play an instrument/singing
There are numerous ways to use the type of talent to bring glory to God. Singing at church in your choir. Producing a christian CD, there are many ways the question is how does God want you to use this gift which He has given you?

emoticon Drawing, painting, sculpting, creating
You could make things for your church service. You could make things and give them any during Christmas to needy kids at a shelter, you could paint, draw, whatever and give it way to a struggling family you know or don't know. As I said before serving God through your gift can become a spiritual gift as you involve God and ask what He wants you to do. He has a plan which is why He gave it to you in the first place.
emoticon emoticon Acting/Producing movies
You can bring glory to God through becoming involved in a play at your church, or producing christian movies. The limitations are only through a closed mind, and a heart which does not pray and ask for God's guidance. You could get involved with a christian youth group and put your talent to work there also.
emoticon Working with kids
Again, there are more possibilities than I have space and time to write about. You can help high risk kids, you can teach Sunday school, or you could glorify God through helping one of your kids friends who is going through a problem. While you are listening to them you bring God into the solution.
emoticon God's Word
Has God blessed you with revelation of God's word? You could preach it in public, at church, anywhere. Write about it on FB (facebook) on this team page, and anywhere else. You could teach Sunday school. Giving back to God by sharing with others in a christian way is endless. We just need to do it God's way.
emoticon Prayer warrior
Do you have a special gift of praying for people? Team, this one really needs our attention, and yes, I believe more than all the others, this one can be applied in abundant ways! You can glorify God right here on the I need prayer chain on this them, located in the general discussion forum. You could go to a team members page and type out a prayer. You could get involved in a prayer group at your church. You can stay at home and pray for all the people you know and don't know.
emoticon Peace maker
I know that God has created peace makers. Again this gift from God can be applied throughout our world and the possibilities are endless. You could bring peace at work by talking about God and how he relates to the situation while your friends talk about your boss. You could serve in countless ways in hundreds of christian ministries organizations that work to bring peace.

emoticon Cooking
Why not cook up a spiritual meal and serve it at a shelter? This is putting the gift of your talent of cooking and feeding God's people in the process. Any charity shelter which serves food you can volunteer at, and most times help them cook.

I don't claim to have all the ideas or all the answers. Yes, I admit, sometimes we have to get creative to serve God through our talents. But when we go to God in prayer and ask HI how do you want me to serve you through my talents, I know he will give you the answer in SOME way. Just keep asking, and keep looking for the answer in any way possible. He has given each and everyone one of us talent, That talent can produce spiritual fruit. However, it is our job to grow it, water it, maintain it, and then cultivate it.
