Yes I have at times wished that things were like they used to be. I miss my friends back in Chicago, I have lived in Ohio for ten years and yet to meet anyone who comes close to any of them. I miss being able to see in a normal way, due to serious eye problems. I also miss not having nero pa thy, which affects my feet almost daily. I miss having daily contact with people other than my husband. I will always miss not living close to my mom and sisters like I used to. Last but not least I miss not having to think about my weight- trying to lose or maintain it never entered my mind until I was twenty-eight. Yet I would not change a thing about my life or go back to the past. All the things that have happened to me in my life has been the end result of the person I am today. I love the person that I have become. During the hard times in my life I grew even closer to God. Many wonderful things happened to me due to my pain, and relying on God and waiting on him. I miss all my friends but 'am grateful for the memories I have, and also that we still see each other. I have been able to help other people in ways that were never possible if I had not had uvietis (my eye problems.) Because I know what it feels like to live with chronic pain I can talk and help people because I know what it feels like. Although I miss my family, I keep them close with phone calls and visits, I know what it is like to be without them now. I have gained weight since this picture due to medicine I had to take (before and after having sugary on my eye) It would be nice not having to track my food, feel guilty at times because the food I ate, and be able to have as much fun buying clothes as I used to have. But the truth is, I have a family history of diabetes. I don't have it now. But I love sweets, I struggle sometimes not eating them, and trying to create a healthy balance. I know that if I did not have to lose weight and try to maintain my weight when I lose it, that I would live differently. I know that I would not exercise as much, I would not be aware of how much sweets I ate. I might think that it was possible that I could get diabetes, but I would feel like I was healthy because I was thin. When I was thin I felt heathly no matter what I ate or even if I didn't exercise. (I didn't have health problems then.) If I didn't have to think about my weight I wouldn't try so hard eat healthy food. I now realize that I have to control my carbs and keep track of them. For me it is not if I get diabetes, it's when I get diabetes. If I keep on track of things and control my carbs in a healthy matter, I will not get diabetes though. It is good if you realize that if you continually wish and yearn for the past, you will never fully appreciate the present. You will go through life in a constant state of visual rewind. Before you know it your life is over and you realize that you were happy you just didn't realize it. Much like being thin, but feeling fat until you have gained weight. Although I have done this with my weight I am grateful that I have NOT done this with my life. I am thirty- nine and my biggest gripe is feeling isolated at times, due to not working. However, I do volunteer work and I am improving my life by finding new ways to volunteer. I thank God that he has given me wisdom and his strength to live the best life that I can- no matter what has happened in the past.

The only thing that I would want to change in my past is to be raised in a good christian home and to be saved at an early age instead of at the age of 20. Then my life would have been guided by the Father, not by my blind self.

Amen sister, It doesn't matter what kind of sin one repents of as long as it is true repentance. When he saved me, he had to reach way down low.

Ps. 5:11,12
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

It's amazing how our Lord despite our past God treats us like His Children. Reverend David Wilkerson home base for many years was in NY. I lived in Staten Island where his mother resided. She attended our church. Many time Reverend Wilkerson would hold meeting and have special guests speak. Surprisingly this guest were not your typical evangelist. The men and women who spoke were former gang members. The told of their life and what horrors they saw. But God's grace and love for them, gave them a new life. He forgave their sins and their name is written in His book. Sin is sin, no matter what we have done. If we as Christ to take over and ask Him to forgive us of our sins He will. To many time satan says NO GOD WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU. But Christ say YES! JUST ASK!

“My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
1 John 2:1

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
Acts 3:19

“Come now and let us reason together," says the Lord,
"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow."
Isaiah 1:18

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace."
Ephesians 1:7

“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him."
Daniel 9:9

I don't Know Why I wrote this but the Lord Knows there is someone who needed to read this.

Dear Lord,
Open this person's heart, may they come to know you as their PERSONAL SAVIOR. May you fill their heart with peace, that they will know you have heard their prayer and forgave their sins.

Amen

The Lord Is My Strength

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalms 94:18-19, 22

That's all good stuff I just read. I don't think I would go back. Growing up in my house was not so good and some of the things I went through were very difficult times. I know that God was always calling me and I too knew in my heart that there was more to a relationship with God than what I was taught. I grew up catholic and not even from a devout catholic home. Not that it would have been better but what I saw at home and how my Mother expected me to live was hypocritical to say the least. I am glad that I was taught that there is a God and this man called Jesus whom is now my Lord and saviour. Although before I got saved I was in better shape and smaller, I wouldn't go back there. I spent lots of time on me, exercising the body and I was smaller because I smoked and it helped me not to eat so much and I was a drunk who drank natural light beer. I regret those days and am so glad I have Jesus now. As one said here, I am looking forward to heaven, it will be so much better than any good past event. I also liked Kris saying that she is glad that her salvation was not dependant on her but that it was all Jesus work. Praise Him. For I know who holds tomorrow, and he's forgiven me my past, and I know who holds my hand.

That is a good one. Letting go of the things that keep us down.. Pressing forward to newness in Christ. Whenever I look back would of could of should of I paralize my self to the future. We will still have tests and trials. Jesus said " Why worry about tomorrow sufficent for today is the evil thereof.." So by worrying about the past or present keeps us from getting excited for today. One day at a time Lord Jesus. Thank you for your mercies. I love what you guys said about this. It made me think.

But, I realized that I must go forward, in spite of all abstacles, realizing that , since God is for me, He's more than the whole world against me. Amen!

More then once I have wanted to be able to use a time machine and show me what I would be, thinking I just might have started walking long ago and be in better shape.

That verse has long been one of my favorites, maybe I should post it on my frig so I don't have so many times I forget.

True, true, sucess and life is a journey, not a destination. Thank God that if we are saved, we have a destination. We cannot reget where we have been, or the things that we have to go through, God provides us with ALL these things! all these things make us who we are, and hopefully by the grace of God, it is a little more like Him everyday! Sometime He has to put us through trials and break us down only to build us back up if we will have the faith to do so. I can do ALL things through Christ who strenghtens me! If we could always keep focus! We would not complain about where we are in life, but keep our focus on Him and move forward where He wants us to be. I pray for faith and strength from Him everyday and for all of you! Life is busy, it is easy to remove our focus, Thank the Lord the He is a graceful God and my salvation is not dependent on me!!

Oh my, how many of us do that!!! BUT, I would not want to go through everything again UNLESS I could do it with knowledge! ALAS, that could not happen.

There was a Christmas movie out a couple years ago where this girl got transported to her past, and could RE-LIVE it and make changes to better her life.
it turned out the way it should have for her. BUT this WAS a dream, and well dreams do NOT come true like that. We do have to accept what God has given us at this point and be THANKFUL!!!

I am in the sunset years of my life, and am looking forward to heaven one day, THAT is so much better than reliving your past!!!

God Bless.

Living In The Past?????

Have you every wished that you could turn back the clock and lived in the past. You were happier then, you maybe didn’t weight as much., you were active. Whatever reason you wished it wasn’t the present but the past. I too have found myself yearning for the things of the past. The home I was raised in, my friends whom I haven’t seen for over 40 years, not having to worry about my weight, being able to walk and go anywhere I wanted. But alas it’s the present and I have to live in it.

In the Bible it talks about Moses and his people. The Israelites were now free from slavery and they were bound for the PROMISE LAND! How they had to get there wasn’t going to be easy. God however provided for them. Unfortunately the Israelites complained every step they took. Many times they had wished that they did not leave Egypt. They wanted to go back even though they would have to be slaves again. Even at the risk of more hardships on them.

Then Lord has reminded me many times that I can’t go back to the way it was. Times have changed, people have changed, I’m not in my 20’s anymore.

OK LORD I GET THE PICTURE!

Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
