Gosh no, I did it with hard work and patience, very slowly. I have had a gym membership on and off for years so I do use it. But I like to change up things so my body doesn't get use to the same workouts, and everybody's body does do that and it makes it harder to lose. I swim, hike, walk, do different eliptical machines at the gym, strenght training, kayak and sometimes bike ride just to lose 1-2 pounds a week, if I am lucky. There has been week when I haven't lost anything. emoticon

Yeah that is hiking. I use to love living out in TO when I was a kid because of all the hiking areas. Simi is like that too. I use have 2 dogs but my old girl Lucy had to be put to sleep after her diabetes got so bad that she had a stroke. I really miss her.
Now I walk the hubby's dog, Phred. I still have a lot of friends out there that I grew up with. I belong to OCHiking now and do hike some, I do more kayakying with the club than hikes at this time.

Xena - I walk with the fur babies (I have three) too. They LOVE to walk too. Where we live here in Simi Valley, there are a lot of hills and so I get a real good workout in the morning - I sweat a lot.

When I get bored of a certain walk, I just change my walk. There are so many places I can walk. I'm actually trying to work up to taking some of the hiking trails that I see on my current walk. These are trails that go up into the hillside and mountains.

Need a little more strength (and a lot less weight) before I attempt that kind of "walking" (I think they actually call it "hiking").

Walking is great. I feel like you do, no one walks a lot here in Anaheim either but I still get out with my dog. A couple of times a month I walk along the SA River Bike/Walk path and that is nice.
When visiting my Aunt out in Simi a couple of years ago I got early with her and we walked 7 miles. She has done that everyday for years, until recently when her cancer came back.
I belong to 24Hr right now, I don't use it as much I use to but I like it for my strength training and to change up my program every few months. emoticon emoticon

I don't do gyms - been there, done that. I have wasted way too much money on gym memberships that I didn't use properly. So, no more gyms for me.

I like to walk. Let me rephrase that, I LOVE to walk. One of the things that I've envied about New Yorkers is that so many of them walk EVERYWHERE! I wish I lived in that type of environment.

I live in SoCA, specifically Ventura county. Very few people walk around here. Everyone drives EVERYWHERE. In the morning, when I go on my morning walk, I've noticed some of my neighbors (the ones not on their way to work) driving their kids to the neighborhood school - WE LIVE FOUR BLOCKS AWAY!

Anyways, I love to walk. I don't do gyms, I don't lift weights and I don't do boot camps. I walk (and sweat). So, I am so glad that I found a group just for me.
