How did everyone do??? I have a whole shelf full of Crowns waiting to give out! I realize this one was a hard one....great job, everyone who even attempted it!
I was sick with sinuses last week and missed some work, in favor of laying on the sofa and feeling sorry for myself a bit, BUT, all the Crowns have been given out for the last couple of weeks so if I missed you, give me a shout and I'll get you Crowned ASAP!

well this week was an eye-opener! I tried to get some good numbers and didn't do too well. I improved a bit, but never met the goal. Just glad I take a supplement or I'd really be in trouble!

Oh my. I didn't even get close on this challenge. I learned that my favorite Multivitamin does NOT include Calcium and that I really do need to take my Magnesium pills daily as well. So even though I really had a horrible time getting my calcium in, I know how to fix it. So for now, I have to take supplements until I figure out a better way.
Thanks for the challenge!!

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting to this group. This challenge caught my eye. I can't believe how many days in the last week I DIDN'T make it by diet alone. I thought I was doing much better than that.
I do take a multivitamin most days and I get about 108 mg with that daily thankfully. The only days that I've been able to do it with diet was when I had lasagna or the days that I had two glasses of milk during the day. I TRY to have milk with breakfast and dinner but we have been painting our backdrops for our next kids church series this week and have been very busy. I have been packing dinner to bring with us (so we aren't eating out!) but I'm not bringing my milk. I'm dealing with water instead.
I'll have to start keeping track of this one!

I FINALLY got in range! Almost went over in fats in the process, though. I ended up having an omelette with cheese and spinach last night for dinner, along with a cup of milk. This is in addition to my daily vitamin.

Not doing well at all with the calcium intake. The numbers are about a third of what I should be having each day. Good thing I take a calcium supplement each day.

Even with having a green smoothie (spinach, milk, frozen fruit) last night, I am way under. It's kind of infuriating for me. I even take a multivitamin every day! How am I so low??

Yesterday was my first day to track in a long time. I ate less than I usually do, but I snacked more than usual last night at well. (I was weak and binge snacked last night!). Even with the 4 weight watchers ice cream bars I binge ate on I didn't even hit 50 for my calcium! I'm totally in on this challenge, and going to try the rest of the week to hit it! I'm in the medical field so I definitely know the importance of calcium, and did not realize how calcium deficit my diet was!

I'm with you Schnootie, I tend to not check off the calcium either and keep track of things like cholesterol, protein and sodium. But I just went to see the doctor and I'm not as tall as I used to be, Calcium is very important to protect against osteoporosis and other bone diseases.
So I am going to try and see how I can do on this one this week. I take a calcium supplement each day, but I still need to get in those dairy foods and other calcium rich foods.

When I looked back at my nutrition reports from the last 2 weeks, I really never got enough calcium! I was looking at other things, cholesterol and fiber and sodium, so I really need to learn how to get more calcium and not more cholesterol. I love this challenge. I will learn a lot. I also wanted to say that I did gain 2 pounds last week, but I learned so much stuff that will come in handy in the years to come. I was consistent in a lot of ways, did my stretching, my 10 minutes of exercise, tracked my food each and every day and was mindful what went into my body. All that gave me more energy and a feeling of success and strength. And hey, who's to say that those 2 pounds aren't a combination of muscle and brain growth? :) To all a successful week!!!

I can jump in this one. Most of my days include a calcium supplement, yogurt and fruit, frozen cream, and cheese. I should be calcium set.

The Mini-Challenge for next week is something we've done a few times and something that I still struggle with, though I'm trying to weed out some of the dairy from my diet because of digestion issues....but anyway....did you know that 85% of the population does not get enough calcium? And for women, it's SO important that we do. In fact, my doctor has told me that at my age (which I'm not telling :), I need to make SURE I get my RDA.
This weeks MC is to get within the daily recommended range (100-150) of calcium intake for 4 of the 7 days this challenge is in effect...oh yeah, and post about it, too. Sound simple? It's not. Well, it's harder to be consistent with this for ME, than almost any other challenge I've found.
BUT, here is a super great SP article about Calcium and it gives you some ways to meet the daily recommendation for intake, too....plus, you get 3 points for reading it (bonus!)!
