Looking forward to this week's goal to reduce tummy bloat. I confess, I am a sugar addict…if it is in the house. So I need to replace a craving for sugar with a piece of healthy fruit. It wasn't mentioned in the article link mentioned in the exercise for this week, but I find that wheat/bread has a huge effect on my tummy bloating. I will attempt to cut it in half at first and then give it up as I go along.

Wishing everyone flat tummies this week!

I can do this, I'm sure. I do not feel overwhelmed with too many things to track or games to play. Love the simplicity of the team.

I was going to wait for the next mini-challenge to start, but there are 3 days remaining for this one, so I am going to jump in. Seems like I am always postponing my weight loss journey, so time to "start over" with you.

I totally understand about the evenings-sometimes they just stretch ahead and if I don't stay focused I can easily slip into the mindless wandering through the cupboards and refrigerator-I keep referring to my list of "what to do instead of" --getting better at referring to the list before the wandering/boredom steps in-I hope that the "doing something else" habit will take the place of the snacking-one can only practice until it becomes the preferred way of getting throught the evening hours.

Evening, all-

Had a pretty good day-adding more cardio every week as my ankle gets stronger and I am not do tentative when putting my weight on it. I know it is pretty much healed and I just need to get more flexibility but I still shy away from using it completely-I know it is more psychological than physical-working on being braver and not so fearful of stairs and curbs. emoticon

I too am adding dancing to my excersize routines. Made myself giggle a lot today when I followed a "how to twerk" video on youtube. My daughter said " I don't think mom's are supposed to do that" and the look on her face! It was a great workout for the bottom half though!

I recently starting juicing veggies and fruits to increase my intake of vegetables and fruits since I lack it. yesterday 3/19/14 was my Day 3. I plan on continuing and keep at it. I know it has only been three days but i do feel a bit better and I don't feel down.
emoticon emoticon

Another thing that i started was dancing for part of my exercising. I was getting bored with just walking on treadmill, squats and sit-ups. So I wanted to do something new and so far it's going good and I am finding new dance videos on YouTube that are pretty good. :)

I am hoping for better results on the scale this month. I lost a couple at the beginning of Feb and then got stuck around the same lb or two. I wanna be a loser this month!

wow, this has not been a very good attitude week for me-I have short periods of getting things done but then kinda slump and feel out of sorts. Hopefully, I will have a better week coming up-need to work a little harder at practicing the restating of thoughts from negatives to positives. Will keep working on it-

Still can't weigh in since I can't stand on the scale but looking forward to seeing if I can adapt the challenge for this week. I see the doctor on Thursday and hope he lets me start doing a few more things to get my ankle back to normal.

Going to take the next couple of days to regroup and refocus on my goals for this coming week's challenge. I won't see the doctor until Thursday to see if I can put any weight on my foot to start doing a little more around the house. Getting better with the walker and wheelchair but would like to have a little more stamina. I feel like I tire so quickly and I need to remind myself that I am using a whole different set of muscle groups to propel me about as well as carrying this big huge, heavy boot around on my left leg. Trying to keep that elevated and still move around is certainly a challenge in itself. I am determined to come off this recovery with as little weight change as possible and as much muscle tone retained as I can manage. I find I lapse into a "poor me" syndrome more often than I like to admit. There are things I can do like hand weights and leg lifts that may not be burning mega calories but it certainly can help keep up some muscle tone and strength. I really need to think outside the box to keep in shape and not just be a slug for the next 6-8 weeks.

Thanks, Minnie and Sableness!

Saw the Doctor today and I have 2 more weeks of the "no weight on the foot" phase. Thanks for the info on Sit and Be Fit. Will be checking that out to keep in some sort of shape until I can get back on my feet for complete workouts. I have moved my exercise bands and hand weights next to the bed and have been doing a little upper body stuff but would like to expand to much more. Leg exercises are limited but I am determined to do all I can within my limited scope. I have 6-8 weeks to go and would really like to at least maintain my weight and not lose all my muscle tone during that time. I am determined to log my calories and not just feel sorry for myself and just lay around and eat-

Sableness-Congrats on the loss!! What a pleasant and unexpected surprise-Great way to boost your spirits and renew your focus. Keep up the good work!

Minnie-I will follow the doctor's orders as I want to get back to 100% and get back to my dog-walking as soon as possible and in the best possible shape I can be after all of this mends.

Take care and have a beautiful day! Take time to be good to yourselves-Hugs!

MUAVEBEAR, follow orders and heal well. Don't give up on fitness. After my foot surgery, I discovered Sit and Be Fit. It was lots of fun and kept me from getting discouraged.

I have a confession to make. Yesterday was super busy and I didn't really weigh in. I just assumed I hadn't lost anything. I was wrong. I lost 2 lbs! WOOHOO! I'm going back and editing my weigh-in!

Just got home from the hospital-managed to dislocate and fracture my ankle in 3 places. Needed surgery to put things back together. Am currently in the "absolutely no weight on the foot" phase. I don't have a conventional cast but do have a huge, heavy, big ol' boot. Also the proud owner of a walker and wheelchair that I am learning to use so I can be more mobile. emoticon emoticon I am checking for exercises that I can start incorporating in my new daily routine so I wanted to check in with the team to see what challenges I can keep. It will help me keep focused while I recover and I really don't want to start from scratch when I can finally get back to my usual exercise and back to work. So just wanted to check in and let y'all know what is going on here in my life.

Hope everyone is doing well and remembering to be as good to yourselves as you are to your friends. emoticon

Over and over again it seems I keep rolling between 268 to 273 I just cant seem to keep it going when I get on a roll. I been stressed lately my husband has copd and cant seem to keep steady with some of his meds and I stress and eat so back up to 273 I need to realize its all in God's hands and there isn't anything I can do for him except be there. So once again I am starting over I have to use my exercise bands cause I cant get to the gym until my hubby is able to be left alone again so I'm looking thru the videos for a good band work out.

Thanks for the motivational email LABRYANT. I will be cleaning out and starting over...yet again. I have about 20 pounds to lose too. My son just got engaged so I want to look great for his wedding in late April - early May. I've always been super active, but my knees have become super painful. I will need to do more with diet modification and will need to choose exercises that are less weight bearing. I will post my response to this week's mini challenge by clicking on that challenge and replying to it. emoticon

Giving thanks by serving and loving others.as well as myself.

DO the PLAN
WATCH it happen.

HUGS!

I personally like this team as the mini-challenges are great for keeping me focused on my goals. I do understand that it may not be very rewarding as a team leader to have just a few of us posting and participating. I would really miss this team but would understand if you feel it is time to disband-

Well to be honest, I have not been true to myself in consistence with the program. And anyone could see that. 2014 is going to be different my health is not getting any better.
So, I'm not a good one to ask..... If you are still here. I will be here. Best Wishes to you and all your hard work.

Hi, thought I would check in. Need some variety. I like the idea of eating move veggies and fruit. Will try to get in 3 each this week.

hi, Nomosugar-every Monday there is a mini-challenge posted. The week that the challenge is for has the date range-like this challenge is from 9/2-9/8. You choose if you want to do the challenge and then follow the guidelines to completing it. Each challenge is different and geared to different aspects of our journey to a healthy lifestyle.

If you have more questions and would like clarification, just click on LABRYANT and send a personal inquiry. She is great on getting back to you.

I think really like that you can accept or reject the mini-challenge and it helps me to stay focused one week at a time. Hope this helps. emoticon

I like the idea of these mini-challenges. It really is great to have a new focus each week-sometimes it seems like I do the same thing, eat the same thing, walk the same route, do the same motivation nudges to get me going, etc. I like getting something new to focus on and working it into my everyday approach of reaching my goals and keeping something new to learn or incorporate. This should be fun! emoticon

I so need this start over. I've been with spark for five years but I seem to have lost and gained over that time. Gaining and losing the same weight is no fun. It just makes me want to give up and say what the heck it isn't working. But it does work I just have to work it.

Hi everyone! I'm Anastasia and I'm also starting over. I joinedSparkPeople almost three years ago now, and had great success at first, something like 25 pounds. But then one thing led to another and I gained it all back and then some. I started over a couple of weeks ago, and I've lost almost five pounds! I'm a part of multiple long term challenges, but I really like the idea of having a mini-challenge for myself every week! Good luck to us all!

I came back a few days ago, after being away since Dec. 28. I'm nicknaming myself the "Start-Over Lady." Believe me, I'm much too old to be a "Comeback Kid."

I'm "Starting Over" for the umpteenth time, but at least I didn't gain any weight while I was gone.

After taking a 6 month break from spark I have come to the conclusion that I need the external motivation and support sparkteams provide. So I'm back, looking to kick these 10 new pounds to the curb.

I had a very tiring day today and I went way overboard with my calories intake, But thinking that I started successfully the "make some magic" challenge, and the idea that I can still start over my day, istead of crying over spilled milk all day, kept my spirits up!!!

So even though I did not reach my intake goal today, I can still reach my 8 cups of water, I did exercise, and I completed the mini challenge! I can feel good about myself with this :)

It sounded just like me when RITAROSE talked about her mindless eating in the evening that blows it for the whole day! That's me since around the holidays and I've gained weight and I'm not a happy camper and I have to get a jump-start on changing or I'll really be up a creek!! So I will be disciplined and CHANGE the mindless eating in the evening to be MINDFUL and will be eating good, healthy foods. Starting March 14th. I'm writing it on the calendar! Wish me luck!!

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

I love the feeling of a fresh start! Today I'm on day 3 of my current streak of no mindless eating at night that blows all the hard work of my eating plan! Sometimes just knowing that if you mess up you can start anew makes all the difference in the world. Now that I've been successful for 2 whole days/nights I surely don't want to wreck that with a booboo, but if I do I will begin anew.

Sadly, I was informed this morning of the passing of one of our team members: WINNINGBATTLE (Aithley). She was only 25 years old and hailed from London. Her brother knew about her Spark Page and wrote a blog about Aithley, informing us of her passing. Should you wish to read it and send your condolences, it is here:

www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
ur
nal_individual.asp?blog_id=5148849

The funeral has passed but her brother posted a link in the following blog for anyone who wishes to, to light a virtual candle in Aithley's behalf:

www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
ur
nal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154119

And there is a follow up blog regarding Aithley's roommate:

nal_individual.asp?blog_id=5162479

This is tragic news and she will be missed by this Team. She was obviously working very hard on her Spark journey before her passing.

I am in my second week of Starting Over. I have tried many many diets in my life time. But I am determined to make this time work. I am definitely working hard and watching my portions. Portion distortion is my disorder. I will beat this affliction. Gave a great day all of you. emoticon me.

This was my most inspiring team before i got hurt, it helped me stay focused and ready to take on a new challenge each wk. I had to stop sparkin for awhile I got injured and it just hurt my arm to bad to type, when coming back I couldn't even think about a challenge, I was just trying to get myself to spark at all, so i picked one spark friend and only logged in a sparked to her for abit until i was ready to venture out again. I was also face first in food, today am on fire again, ready to push off the rest of my extra pds. So glad you are still here, mini challenging away!

I think I am finally ready again to take on wkly challenges again! cya on the huddle! emoticon emoticon

Feeling so much better. Again, I have to make sure I stay on track over the weekend. But weighted in today. Woo Hoo. Almost back to where I was before I feel off the wagon.

another epic fail this weekend for me. I guess if I'm tying to stay positive, I could say it was better than most have been the last several months. trying a jar idea now, I'll pay myself for being good, and have to pay if I'm bad. :)

I would love a weekend challenge, especially this weekend. I am really determinded to stay on track this weekend. Today is my normal weigh in day, and I am .6 lbs over what I was last week. Good news is I finally lost all I gained over the weekend, BUT I am not working my butt off (literally this week, lol), to gain weight, no matter how low in a week. Today while walking I started to cry thinking that IF I hadn't been so bad this weekend my goal would be that much closer.
OK, enough moaning about the would of, could ofs. Time to get butt busting. :)

Maybe we should do a weekend Mini-Challenge....of some sort. The number of posts each weekend drops considerably and I'm to blame as well. I get derailed and a little bit lazy, you might say. Hmmmmm....I'll be thinking about it!

My biggest challenge is staying focused on the weekends. I seem to do well all week, then binge on the weekends. I really thought I'd do good this last weekend when I got up and went for a 5+ mile walk/jog Saturday morning. Stayed on track with food all day too, Until the after dinner munchies hit. Ended up having over 2000 calories AFTER dinner. Didn't even bother tracking Sunday after going to movies and grazing through the store, trying bread pudding and risotto balls. Oh yeah, don't forget the chocolate eclairs.
So, any advice on how to stick to the program on the weekends?

Like in my signature i have " Together we Achieve More"

It is true, we can not do this alone, i have almost no support at home, majority almost all my support come from my spark friends and spark groups. I really like the challenges i finally got back into habit of doing them after a long haul of being away from groups, i see that i needed them and am here to stay i really enjoy this group.

QUEEN, I'm right there with you, no support. That is why I joined this team. Not only do I need support right now, I need accountability. We can all help each other, and be each others support system. :)

I too use the metric system, kg x 2.2 = pounds . If you need the formula to work it out. It is funny sometimes, because i have not lost 5 kg yet but i have lost 10 pounds. i count in both now since the pounds make it feel like i have made a change whilst in kilos i may have not made such a big change in my weight. But with measurements cm are the bigger number as you work it out as cm / 2.54 = inches. But with me i have a Total loss so far: 29 cm / 11.42 inches and Weight loss: 4.6 kg /10.12 lbs

I'm not sure how much 2 kilos is....in the US, so I'm used to pounds but I understand what you're going through. Get involved and begin posting everything you eat into the tracker...it helps!

And here I am starting over again. I have lost track of the times I started over, but either way, it's a new start again. Less than 2 weeks to the beach and have 5 kilos to lose. Or 10 cm from belly. This time frame makes me want to quit again! I am not going to make it, unless I realllly starve myself....Few times I almost cancelled my holiday as the thought of showing my body on the beach horrified me. For years I have been the fattest of my friends and it really affects my self-esteem. My boyfriend doesn't like my daily depression and low self-esteem outburst, so I better do something about it! Starting now! But with a new, more realistic goal. 2 kilos to lose. In two weeks. Easy, right?
