Just joined this team and I have a question about this weeks challenge. Am I understanding it correctly to mean 5 servings of fruit PLUS 5 servings of veggie to equal 10 servings for the day?
I have no problem with that amount of veggie, but the fruit is trickier since I have to watch my blood sugar. I'll do what I can though.

Looking forward to this week's goal to reduce tummy bloat. I confess, I am a sugar addict…if it is in the house. So I need to replace a craving for sugar with a piece of healthy fruit. It wasn't mentioned in the article link mentioned in the exercise for this week, but I find that wheat/bread has a huge effect on my tummy bloating. I will attempt to cut it in half at first and then give it up as I go along.

I can do this, I'm sure. I do not feel overwhelmed with too many things to track or games to play. Love the simplicity of the team.

I was going to wait for the next mini-challenge to start, but there are 3 days remaining for this one, so I am going to jump in. Seems like I am always postponing my weight loss journey, so time to "start over" with you.

I totally understand about the evenings-sometimes they just stretch ahead and if I don't stay focused I can easily slip into the mindless wandering through the cupboards and refrigerator-I keep referring to my list of "what to do instead of" --getting better at referring to the list before the wandering/boredom steps in-I hope that the "doing something else" habit will take the place of the snacking-one can only practice until it becomes the preferred way of getting throught the evening hours.

Evening, all-

Had a pretty good day-adding more cardio every week as my ankle gets stronger and I am not do tentative when putting my weight on it. I know it is pretty much healed and I just need to get more flexibility but I still shy away from using it completely-I know it is more psychological than physical-working on being braver and not so fearful of stairs and curbs. emoticon

There is a drink called nudie green drink and it has passionflower and green tea with wheat grass in it. I have this once a week and it is really nice.

Keep out of snacks instead have a meal if u really feel u need one...

I too am adding dancing to my excersize routines. Made myself giggle a lot today when I followed a "how to twerk" video on youtube. My daughter said " I don't think mom's are supposed to do that" and the look on her face! It was a great workout for the bottom half though!

I recently starting juicing veggies and fruits to increase my intake of vegetables and fruits since I lack it. yesterday 3/19/14 was my Day 3. I plan on continuing and keep at it. I know it has only been three days but i do feel a bit better and I don't feel down.

Another thing that i started was dancing for part of my exercising. I was getting bored with just walking on treadmill, squats and sit-ups. So I wanted to do something new and so far it's going good and I am finding new dance videos on YouTube that are pretty good. :)

This week my challenge is eat more "greens" in honour of St. Patrick emoticon . It's also weigh-in week. but, I have noticed my clothes are looser and I have more energy. Terrific!

wow, this has not been a very good attitude week for me-I have short periods of getting things done but then kinda slump and feel out of sorts. Hopefully, I will have a better week coming up-need to work a little harder at practicing the restating of thoughts from negatives to positives. Will keep working on it-

Going to take the next couple of days to regroup and refocus on my goals for this coming week's challenge. I won't see the doctor until Thursday to see if I can put any weight on my foot to start doing a little more around the house. Getting better with the walker and wheelchair but would like to have a little more stamina. I feel like I tire so quickly and I need to remind myself that I am using a whole different set of muscle groups to propel me about as well as carrying this big huge, heavy boot around on my left leg. Trying to keep that elevated and still move around is certainly a challenge in itself. I am determined to come off this recovery with as little weight change as possible and as much muscle tone retained as I can manage. I find I lapse into a "poor me" syndrome more often than I like to admit. There are things I can do like hand weights and leg lifts that may not be burning mega calories but it certainly can help keep up some muscle tone and strength. I really need to think outside the box to keep in shape and not just be a slug for the next 6-8 weeks.

Thanks, Minnie and Sableness!

Saw the Doctor today and I have 2 more weeks of the "no weight on the foot" phase. Thanks for the info on Sit and Be Fit. Will be checking that out to keep in some sort of shape until I can get back on my feet for complete workouts. I have moved my exercise bands and hand weights next to the bed and have been doing a little upper body stuff but would like to expand to much more. Leg exercises are limited but I am determined to do all I can within my limited scope. I have 6-8 weeks to go and would really like to at least maintain my weight and not lose all my muscle tone during that time. I am determined to log my calories and not just feel sorry for myself and just lay around and eat-

MUAVEBEAR, follow orders and heal well. Don't give up on fitness. After my foot surgery, I discovered Sit and Be Fit. It was lots of fun and kept me from getting discouraged.

I have a confession to make. Yesterday was super busy and I didn't really weigh in. I just assumed I hadn't lost anything. I was wrong. I lost 2 lbs! WOOHOO! I'm going back and editing my weigh-in!

Just got home from the hospital-managed to dislocate and fracture my ankle in 3 places. Needed surgery to put things back together. Am currently in the "absolutely no weight on the foot" phase. I don't have a conventional cast but do have a huge, heavy, big ol' boot. Also the proud owner of a walker and wheelchair that I am learning to use so I can be more mobile. emoticon emoticon I am checking for exercises that I can start incorporating in my new daily routine so I wanted to check in with the team to see what challenges I can keep. It will help me keep focused while I recover and I really don't want to start from scratch when I can finally get back to my usual exercise and back to work. So just wanted to check in and let y'all know what is going on here in my life.

Hope everyone is doing well and remembering to be as good to yourselves as you are to your friends. emoticon

Over and over again it seems I keep rolling between 268 to 273 I just cant seem to keep it going when I get on a roll. I been stressed lately my husband has copd and cant seem to keep steady with some of his meds and I stress and eat so back up to 273 I need to realize its all in God's hands and there isn't anything I can do for him except be there. So once again I am starting over I have to use my exercise bands cause I cant get to the gym until my hubby is able to be left alone again so I'm looking thru the videos for a good band work out.

Thanks for the motivational email LABRYANT. I will be cleaning out and starting over...yet again. I have about 20 pounds to lose too. My son just got engaged so I want to look great for his wedding in late April - early May. I've always been super active, but my knees have become super painful. I will need to do more with diet modification and will need to choose exercises that are less weight bearing. I will post my response to this week's mini challenge by clicking on that challenge and replying to it. emoticon

I personally like this team as the mini-challenges are great for keeping me focused on my goals. I do understand that it may not be very rewarding as a team leader to have just a few of us posting and participating. I would really miss this team but would understand if you feel it is time to disband-

First day of crunches-the video really helped me with form and variation-Looking forward to learning more about crunches and seeing improvement. Maybe I will stop avoiding them in my workouts! emoticon

hi, Nomosugar-every Monday there is a mini-challenge posted. The week that the challenge is for has the date range-like this challenge is from 9/2-9/8. You choose if you want to do the challenge and then follow the guidelines to completing it. Each challenge is different and geared to different aspects of our journey to a healthy lifestyle.

If you have more questions and would like clarification, just click on LABRYANT and send a personal inquiry. She is great on getting back to you.

I think really like that you can accept or reject the mini-challenge and it helps me to stay focused one week at a time. Hope this helps. emoticon

I like the idea of these mini-challenges. It really is great to have a new focus each week-sometimes it seems like I do the same thing, eat the same thing, walk the same route, do the same motivation nudges to get me going, etc. I like getting something new to focus on and working it into my everyday approach of reaching my goals and keeping something new to learn or incorporate. This should be fun! emoticon
