I love George too. I came here from Port Elizabeth 20 yrs ago after a bad divorce and loved it on sight. Loved the people I met and have been here ever since. Interestingly enough, the very first guy I made friends with moved to Durban 10 yrs ago and we are still best friends. George was good for my soul repair and especially as I met my husband of 18 yrs here. Its grown a lot bigger since I came 20 yrs ago, but I still love it. When you come to SA in 2012, we should try to link up and have a cuppu coffee somewhere.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

The weather here is just too cold! I really miss the warmness of back home but I am not so sure I can handle the heat of Jan and Feb!
As for the people, South Africans are more friendly and accepting of foreign people. I have been in Ireland for 5 years and am still struggling to make true friends, not just people that say they are your friend but then talk behind your back. Saying that not all the poeple here are bad but the general mentality of the people are they same, it has only been in the last 20 years that foreigners came to settle in Ireland.
The social system is loads better here and the government will help you financially if you can't cope. Something which I count my lucky stars is in place as being a single mother is very hard, financially and other wise.
I am hoping to come for a visit in 2012 as flights and things are so expensive!
Love George, had a friend whose parents had a farm there, not sure if they still do...

Hi there, I've always thought I would love Ireland with its cold moors??? I live in George and generally prefer the cool weather, not necessarily the cold weather. I don't think I have the courage to move countries...but you never know.
Sounds like Ireland is better financially than SA cos in SA its almost impossible for a single mom to travel to another country, but you say you'll be back in 2012...is it better or just sounds better?

hi there,

I am originally from Cape Town but am now living in cold Ireland! I was home in march/april this year and realised how much I miss home and how much my children are missing out on growing up in a warm country like South Africa.
As I am now single I can't afford to go again next year but I will be there again in 2012!!!!!!
Might even try and fit in a vortex party!!!
Anybody else missing home?????
