Sadly, I'm not sure if Barb or Crystal will ever come back to us. It makes me sad that they have been gone for so long. I'm not even sure if they use this site anymore. Their Sparkpages have been dormant for so very long. Hopefully with the New Year upon us they will start popping in again. I really hope they do. We'll surely be here for them when/if they return!

Jan I agee with what you said about diets and some work and some don't and it is different for different people and know one thing to be true is you need support from people so I will be back on about February 7th or so and don't lose me but we can start a new thread ., I sent Barb a message to her page but haven't heard from her it will be okay we have a lot in common like you said earlier. our same size. Any way I have my granddaughter tomorrow and then have to work Sat. and off Sunday and work Monday and then off to our vacation. lol.
Have a great time over the month and best of luck to your plan. I am going to at least try to watch what I eat I am going to enjoydiffer kind of foods though.

I read the same about the grains and yogurt & beans and had decreased my meat intake and was eating more grains & bean dishes for the past year and a half but have continued to struggle with my weight and I feel tired all the time.

I think some plans work for some people and other plans are better for other people. I'm more lactose intolerant than ever so I take my probiotics in pill form. I also get tired after eating grains and beans so I'm thinking that reducing those foods and upping my vegetable and meat intake might work better for me. I have to keep my fat intake low as well so the Paleo diet is no Atkins plan.

I'm on Day 3 and I already feel fantastic! I've been juicing or blending 1x per day and eating a huge salad at lunch every day too. all those veggies & fruits can't be bad for me. LOL!

I'm giving the new plan 30 days and then I'll see how I feel and decide if I will continue or bring grains back in small amounts. I'm already gluten intolerant so I can't eat most of the traditional grain foods anyway and really shouldn't be buying all the replacement foods because of the processing so I may as well cut the rice, quinoa and millet breads/pastas etc and see if I feel better than last year.

Well, I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time, don't worry about food while your on vacation. Enjoy! We'll see about starting a new thread when you get back for the new year.

Thanks Jan yes we are looking so forward to it we have everything pretty ready to go . we are ready!!! You plan for the new year sounds great Jan I am starting to eat more veggies and fruits I will admit being on vacation I will more likely have a drink whether it be a bud lite or a glass of wine but I am going to try to limit myself . I found a great diet to great health in AARP magazine we get it only because well we are senior citizens and we belong to AARP it say to eat the right kind of grain and the right kind of dairy most beans are good for the digestive system .
nuts and seeds are also good and as far as dairy greek yogurt or a very low fat yogurt but look at the package but you should have all what you said.I am drinking lots of water also I don't know how much exercise we will get at first because we will be in snow covered mountains and cold we may not get out much. but San Fran weather is looking good and we will do some walking at least. We will stay on target Jan and I will check back in later and hopefully we will have some of it under control in 30 days. emoticon take care best of luck with you plan and exercise program .Rita

Just a quick outline of my new plan for 2013.

Eat more lean-free range meats & eggs
Eat more raw fruits and vegetables
Drink smoothies on crossfit days
Drink Juices on all other days
Omit grains, beans & dairy
Omit alcohol
Cardio Tue & Thur
Crossfit Wed & Fri


Now...this doesn't mean I can NEVER have ice cream again or NEVER have another glass of wine ever because I can't live with conditions that never allow deviation but my focus these past few years has been a quest for better health so in this quest I will be eating and drinking much, much less of the things that make me feel yucky and much, much more of the things that make me feel good.

Good Morning Jan well we (jerry & I ) got a lot more accomplished yesterday than we thought we were very energertic ! I am completely packed just a few last minutes things like my makeup and the last hings I will use the day of but other than that we have all clothes, sho camera and that - done!! So I am sitting here watching good morning show and writing to you wishing you and you, your hubby & June and very Hppy Healthy New Year Day!!!

oh Jan ! Thanks and I am actually Jerry & I are looking soooo forward to this vacation even if we are going to places that have snow at least we won't have to shovel it. We are starting to count the days.
If I don't get on before I leave but I will try you have a great time bringing in the New Year and be safe. We will have a good time and will be safe . We have a lot it planned .
I think I told you that we are taking a greyhound bus and getting off at a few spots , Denver CO stop there and spend time with friends,,then on to Reno/Lake Tahoe NV we are staying there 4 days at hotel for sight seeing and shows. Then on to his brother's home in San Francisco for a week leave there and take the southern route back onto Phoenix, AZ , Grand Canyon, and lots of places in AZ for a week . then we will finished the trip last stop in Albuquerque NM for 4 days

The diet is a great one! That sounds pretty much what I was on when I lost my first 50 lbs and started Spark people I was 178 and first lost 50 then gradually got down to 112 in 2007. but I am at 130 and holding with all the Christmas eating and drinking now we go on vacation in 10 days I am really going to try to get some exercise and eat salads some of the time. Your life sounds crazy like mine and it is really tough to stay on target to losing weight. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and definitely have a Healthy New Year. I had a great Christmas with my two grandchildren ( Teagan & Paddy) when you have little ones that are so innocent and believe in Santa it is super!!! Had bunches of fun. I am getting another little grandbaby boy due in May; Teags will be 21 months excitiing.My son and daughter in law are having their second . I am loving it I love being a grandma it is the best part of my life.
Jan just to give you an update I will be gone from January 8th til February 7th and I will probably need a few days to recoup. sowhen you don't hear from me it is because we are not on the internet and we are not planning on taking our lap top either. the best we will have is our phones. So hang in there and have a great New Year and when I get back I will let you know how things went.

Hey Rita!

Sorry I've been missing for the past few weeks. Life has been a craze. Between the apartment rental and orders coming in on my etsy site and all the Christmas activities and prep I hardly had a moment to breath.

We've been working hard at the gym still. I've been fighting off a headcold for over a week now. I think it's turning into a sinus infection. Total bummer.

So despite working out so hard the scale hasn't budged. I know it a combination of holiday eating and drinking holding me back. I'm much stronger and feel less jiggly so I'm assuming I've traded some fat for muscle. I feel a little thinner at the waist but my pants aren't fitting any different through the hips and thighs.

Last week we decided to start the paleo diet. It's a way of eating that mimics a cavemen diet (sounds like a gimmick but...) my niece, her boy friend and my step sister are all on it and all 3 of them look great and say they feel great too. My niece has almost the same exact body type as mine (granted she's half my age) but I think there is hope for me if this plan works coupled with exercise. My step sister has lost a great deal of weight since last Christmas. Granted she's working out hard (as is my niece and her boyfriend) but I'm working out hard too and not getting desired results. The plan relies heavily on veggies and fruits, meat, fish and eggs with nuts in moderation and eliminates all sugar, grains, beans and dairy. We just started easing into on the 23rd and are still having some grains since we still have some in the fridge and I refuse to throw away food just because. Hubby has continued to have some dairy but said he already feels a little thinner. I'm not going to go full boat until after the new year.

I hope that everything is okay with you and your family. I haven't been on lately because I have been working and getting ready for the holidays. I finally have everything as much done as I can. I have to go to work tomorrow 12/24 at 5 am and hope to get off about 11am. then I am off until12/27. thank goodness.!!

Hope you made it through the weekend so far I did pretty good I didn't get much exercise Saturday we drove 70 mile one way to get two christmas tree and then home again put it up that is all we had time for then had to get ready for my high school friends Christmas party it started at 5 pm. but you could whenever and we got there a little late there were about 40 again but it was great to see them - I lan o having next year I told everyone God wllling.
I did pretty good with the eating only had one dessert and it was a heavenly hash thingy I was very pick lost of cookie pies and candy stuff But I did succeed in staying away and I took very small portion of the food has small sandwich, and potatoe salad, cole slaw and a couple of other dishes veggie sort of things .

We all bring a dish usually homemade and whatever we want to drink and the hostess furnish the main dish or whatever most people brings dips and the like . It was good and I ate small. I did have two beers. But I think I did okay.
Todayit is raining we need it badly so I am not complaining at all we want to get out to hang some lights but that may be another day, oh well., WEll I will let you go have a great rest of the weekend.

Happy Friday to you Jan
And I hope that everyone is doing a okay!!! Hope the training and workouts are going good for you I got to the gym what a workout wow it was great I workout for 2 1/2 hours today is my day I went to the gym at 7am swam an hour workout with the machines for 1/2 hr and walk in the gym 1/2 hr and did 20 minutes of yoga wooo!!!! I am happyas can be I also got on the scale that I wweigh on all the time say 128 I just might have lost some weight wewill see next week I am being very careful what I put in my mouth lately may be it is paying off.

Well I have to run I am getting my hair cut and pick a few things up for tonight Have a great weekend Jan. I hope I can ---we are to go to a christmas party tomorrow night I just have to remember not to eat too much huh?? yea right but I am going to try. Then Sunday we are cutting down our christmas tree take care.

hey Jan well we are over the hump day it is Thursday and I am doing pretty good for eating I had a salad for dinner we didn't have time to eat lunch though we were so busy we rake 3 lawns yesterday and we wanted to get it done I did eat a breakfast at least Today we will be the same way we have at least 2 lawns but on is pretty big. I had an apple for this morning and plan on another salad with some turkey tonight. I will work out tomorrow at the gym so this week will be pretty good. We did some of our christmas shopping Tuesday took that day off the ground was too wet from rain so it was good day to try and get all the shopping down which I pretty much did. i do feel good ran with the dog a little more than yesterday each is longer to run I am getting back in shape she loves to run and she big enough to pull me if I don't run. well got to go time is ticking and we need to get out there beat the day light. It starts to get dark at 5 so we only have about 7 to 8 hours of work. chat later Jan take care. hang in there.

Hey Rita,

Sounds like you had a really nice visit with your friends.

I thought about you all day yesterday as I was cleaning up the rental property yard. I raked and bagged leaves for 3 hours...13 bags of leaves and there's still more!! I decided to leave the leaves that are covering the garden beds alone until spring. That's what I do at our house anyway. I'm just going to head over today and tidy up the front of the house a little prob no more than 3 bags. Hopefully I won't spend more than an hour today.

Tomorrow is more personal training. He killed us on Friday I was still feeling it yesterday. Legs and Butt were pretty sore. I could feel muscles I didn't know I had.

Food has been OK, but this weekend...Ouch! When I weighed in on Friday I was still down the 3 lbs. We devoured a bag of fancy chocolate covered popcorn on Fri while watching tv and then we visited friends on Sat. I ate 2 brownies there and came home and split a bottle of wine and ordered out Chinese with Hubby. Then on Sunday we ate the Chinese leftovers for lunch and went out to dinner with friends before a concert where I had 2 beers....sigh....at least I didn't have dessert. LOL! And there's currently there's a glitch with the sparkrecipes site. It might just be the browser I'm using but I haven't been able to add in the soup I'm making for dinner this week. Grrrrrrr so I haven't been able to track my food properly. I'm just winging it with similar things I ate last week for most meals.

I am actually almost done Christmas shopping. We don't have many people to buy for and I do a good portion in November before Thanksgiving. I don't care for those black Friday sales but I do order a lot of stuff on line so I generally take advantage of cyber sales when I can. I just have a gift card, some wine, and new socks and undies for our stocking stuffers left to get. June could prob use a couple new pairs of stretch leggings. I have to try KMart this week as I'm currently boycotting Walmart. I could also try Old Navy...

Happy Monday morning well my company left this morning at 5am to get a start on the road to go back home to Tampa FL We had a wonderful fun filled weekend and I was really good ate mostly salad for lunch time and try to eat smaller portions at night we did eat home two of the 5 nights which was good I did the cooking so I could control no weight lost yet that I can see and yesterday though we went to the wineries her in Missouri oh did we do some wine tasting good but talk about empty cals!!! oh well I did get to the gym for 2 hours today after my company left swam weightmachines and walk the track got home at 9:30 and mop a floor and vacuum play 15 minute with the dog outside another beautiful day!! doing laundry and at 2:30 will go to my son's and daughter in law to watch Teagan so my daughter in law Brandy can catch a few ZZZs before she has to go to work at 7PM she is a labor and delivery nurse she work the night shift 7pm to 7am oh well Hope things are going good for you Jan are you getting ready for Christmas I haven't even been out yet I hope to get out this week and next. oh well have a great Monday!!!

thanks Jan for the encouragement I got out there today and it was cold BRRRRR and we did run it was the only way to stay warm I ran about 3/4 of the walk we take. it was invigorating and I mean invigorating I hope to get out again.lateer my company are going out with some ol' friends for lunch today so I am free up again today. :) Thanks for all your help again. chat later

Thanks Jan for reminding me of the diet wow !!! you are kicking butt girl!!! I definitely would have been wore out well I 1/2 walk 1/2 run for 30 minute with the pup her name is Jazz and she is a Jazz like a razor she is jazzy high energy I just don't know about keeping up with her. I get so winded I really need to step up the pace in losing and thanks again for reminding me 80% is diet well I had cereal for breakfast I just had a couple of bites of ham off the bone left over still from Thanksgiving :( I threw the other left over down the drain all the casserole dishes they are just sooo fatty and Jer won't eat them any longer I of course would pick on them. so down the garbage disposal. I just had a handful of small crackers and threw the box out too they didn't even taste good - stale - so I decided to get on the computer and you had wrote this about diet thank goodness the rest of my day will be much better I don't plan on eating any more til dinner - I am planning a big dinner pork loin in a lemon pepper sauce it is light sauce - also mashed potato mostly for the guys I will go light on those taters as much as I loved mashed potatoes I put a lot of butter with them talk about fat , I am also stir frying with olive oil zucchini and yellow squash and onion also we will have green beans too
no deserts the guys don't miss it and Lori and I don't need it. Well Jan you are doing a great job keep up the great work and we have to remember that food is our culprit I know it but I just don't listen hehehe:) I will miss get on here also when I am on vaction I just hope I get enough exercise to out weight the eating out food deal. We will be eating out a lot I am going to try to stick to veggies and salads who knows I amy lose weight on vacation hahahaha I don't know who I am kidding . Have a great day and best of luck Jan.

Wow Rita, that trip sounds fabulous! You are going to have such a great time! I sure will miss you while you're away. We've been the only two in here for quite a while now. I hope Barb & Crystal are doing well.

The PT kicked my flippin butt today. He had me do these one legged glute raises that put my hamstrings to the test. Got charlie horses while I was doing them to boot. We did a bunch of non traditional exercises today.

It was a tough hour and I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow. Day 3 on eating plan going well. I accidentally only ate 900 cals yesterday and it showed in my performance today. I was super tired during my workout right after the first set.

Keep up the great work Rita, loosing weight is 80% diet. We will reach our goals!!!

AGREED!!! Who care where the 3 lbs come from as long as the weight is gone I weigh in this morning I am weighing 134 I got to the gym and was able to work out on the machines for 20 minutes and 40 minute of swimming . I plan on getting out to take the dog for a run here in little while
My company came in last night late 1:30 I stuck out to the gym this am before they took off for a trip with his brother they are going to do some researching on the family history all day so I free up for today may be even tomorrow sound like they are meeting up with some long lost friends so I may make it to the gym tomorrow hurray!!! Any who we are going to the art museum one day and the science center I am working at it thought Jan you are giving motivation so far to day I had a bowl of cereal - oats and almonds which are healthy with milk and I have had 2 big glasses of water.
Yes the trip Jer and I are taking will be very adventuresome and fun also We are leaving on a grey hound bus stopping at Denver and spending time with friends for about 4 days then get back on the greyhound bus and get off in Reno /Lake Tahoe which is really beautiful hope there will be snow . Then we head on to San Fran CA for a week with Jerry's brother after that we are taking the greyhound back but the southern route and stopping in Arizona for about a week - Grand canyon, Petrified forest and Painted desert and my nephew lives there in the Navajo Nation he is a pharmacist for the Indian
Reservation - then onward to Albuquerque New Mexico for a few days then a month or so will have arrived and we will be home. If we like this way of transportation we are thinking of doing it again and leaving the driving to them when you stop and think about gas , wear and tear on your car . It by far is a cheaper way to go and you can see everything you want we plan on renting cars in some of the locations still cheaper than have our own driving thousands of miles. Any how enough for now Jan. Best of luck this week and knock 'em dead!!! I plan on staying close to eating right.

Wow a whole month? Nice vacation! We leave Jan 24th so I've got a little more time to be bathing suit ready. We'll do it! I think the 3 lbs was just water weight but it feels good to have it off. Water or fat my clothes were pretty tight.

Way to go Jan 3 LBS WOW!!!!! I am going to get with it I am trying to do good I did get out earlier today and walk and 1/2 run with her for 45 minutes we will do it this little dog needs lots of exercise she is high energy so may I can get with it need to exercise and you would think all the blowing of leaves would lose weight carry a 10 lb back pack on you I believe that is what this blower weighs and then walking all over blowing leaves you would think??!!
oh well we will hang in there I really need to be able to get into some of my clothes a little better before vacation which is by the way for me Jan.8th and we will be gone til Feb 5th .

Hey Rita, You can do it! Getting out with your dog is good too. That's some exercise and sounds like you did a lot of moving working in the yards. This is a hard time of year too with all the visiting and it being cold. It's so cold here today. Raining/snowing so it feels so much colder in the house than what the thermostat says.

Today was day 2 tracking my food and sticking to the plan. I already dropped 3 lbs from yesterday. Obviously I was pretty bloated. Ugh!

Today was a n off day, lucky too cause June stayed home from school today. She's got a head cold, no fever but telling her she could stay home was the only way I could get her to take the children's sudafed. Hope she takes it tonight because she has to go to school tomorrow. We've got the physical trainer tomorrow.

We gonna do this Rita!! We've got 8 full weeks till vacation. It's gonna be here before we know it! emoticon

oh Jan I feel your pain :( I haven't got on a scale since thanksgiving I haven't been to the gym and that is the one I used so to keep some what accurate weight I know I have gain weight because some of my pants aren't fitting the same I think it is more flab I need to tone up again. Well Jerry's sister and brother in law are to arrived tonight and stay til Monday or Tuesday it is not the eating problem it is the no exercising I have problems with I can't get to the gym and I won't be able to do it this week either :( this is really a bummer emoticon I feel just like this little guy. bloated I need to get out today and do some walking. oh well sounds like you have a plan best of luck you can do it Jan!! I am thinking of you every time I take a bite of food and so far so good I just need to kick butt in exercising. Have a great day and week.

Got to the gym for 20 min cardio this morning. PT said he's upping the intensity of our Wed workouts. Eeeek! Today is Day 1 fully on new food plan. I expect sugar withdrawals today. Scale had me at 134.8 this morning. 135 is my personal max (I can get bigger but my pants can't handle more than 135). I've got to get rid of this weight gain!!!!

Gotta fly, lots to do!

Hello Everyone!!! Happy Monday after Thanksgiving so here is a chance to lose some of that turkey and stuffing we have at least 4 weeks til Christmas we can get to exercise at least 3 times come on everyone we can do it . Jan How is the training doing I like when you said you are going to do cardio that is the best . Well I ran today with the pup she is getting older soon to be 5 months old and she what to run so we did this morning . I was winded didn;'t realized how out of shape I am I am working with Jerry todayand we will work for at least 8 hours blowing leaves we have 3 big lawns and a huge mediam in this subdivision these are big houses and yards. It will take at least two hours or a little more for each yard . talking about waking today and carry a pack on my back what hoot. I should lose some weight we will see I am curving my appetite I am trying to stay away from the sweets so far it is work 2 days without sweets the bread I cut to one meal but today I am not going to eat any cracker either. It is all these carbs or starch. we will see. well Jan I hope things are going great for you.

Happy weekend it is cold here the bottom fell out we are in the 20 already!!! Please bring back warmer weather . I walk the dog darn near ran it was a fast and I mean fast walk we get out later brrrrr!!! I was pretty good on the thanksgiving food but on on the booze Thanksgiving too much 3 or 4 lime a ritas a couple of scotch on the rocks had to have with a good friend and then a champagne toast for dinner whoo !! but I ate pretty much the cassrole dishes green beans and my brocolli some cranberry relish a little stuffing and that was it no desserts but I did have a slice of pumpkin pie yesterday and we don't have much turkey but ham so I ate a ham sandwich that was about it for yesterday my stomach was a little queazy to say the least :) I am going easy on the food today also I know we YOU and Me Jan can do this for January we have a month !! starting to day it will be veggies and fruits for a while no starch (breads, crackers and no deserts not til Christmas at least :) Great going on your training . Have a great weekend. I plan to get out and do some heavy fast walking with the pup she has so much energy she soesn';t like to be coop up in the house. so may be I can walk some of this off Monday I plan to make the gym scene again and I am not working much the rest of this year so I made help Jerry with leaf pick up and get to the gym . Happy day after Thanksgiving! We've been eating leftovers today. We didn't really have much leftover this year. We had 3 extra family members that usually go to the other side of the family and they chowed down. It's all good. I'm glad they enjoyed it so much. I had 2 beers yesterday and 2 today. I didn't eat any desserts yesterday. I was too stuffed on food and cheese. No desserts today either. The beer was enough.

The personal trainer kicked our butts today! I pushed really hard too. I am determined to wear shorts this summer. I haven't worn a pair of shorts in 6 years and this past summer was so hot and I wore capris the entire time, I don't want to do that again next year.

Starting Monday I'll be logging my food. We'll also be adding in cardio starting Monday. January is going to be here in a blink of an eye.

Stay strong Rita. Don't let the food win. You're stronger than that. You can do it!!

Oh Jan I have been off the charts with the eating program eating everything and I MEAN EVERYTHING!!! in sight! Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiviing also . We will have a great on we have invited a few extra people a couple of them are house bound so we will pick them up and bring them to our house for Thanksgiving. Also I asked a few other that have no family to celebrate withto come and they have accepted since some of our children are not coming for on reason or another we will have plenty of food to go around and we need lots of people to make the season and to be thankful that we can still be able to shared. I need to get to the gym next week and also watch the food but I am so out of control. I have been eating everything that is junk candy, cake pie sweet sweet junk and even some chips terrible lately and as for as the booze oh yea I have at least one or two beers a night last night went out with the girls my daughter and Jerry's daughter and a few friends we had more than enough to drink I had at least 5 beers wow and you don't think I am bloated ??? whoa and I haven't evengot to Thanksgiving yet oh me. Hey Rita!! Hope all is well with you. I worked out with the trainer 2x's last week. He's great. We're doing lot's of unconventional exercises using medicine balls, stretch bands, kettle bells. He usually works the exercises in groups of 3 and we do 2 to 3 sets of each exercise and then a short rest. I think he's still getting to see what we are capable of and this week coming (wed/fri) should prove more difficult than the last. We'll be talking about adding in cardio this week as well, which I think is going to be critical to my weight loss..I haven't gotten my food in line enough to see any loss on the scale either. I'm not eating sweets and I even cut out the booze but I think I'm still taking in too many calories. I just might have to start counting calories again. Not looking forward to that but I think it probably needs to be done.

Well, If I don't get back on before Thursday Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Yes that puppy does keep me moving and on my toes she is a good dog though she is smart.
I know what you mean a bout how you say kids are on a schedule and they don't care when you went to bed. Hope you had a wonderful weekend with you friends and did get some sleep but it is good to get away and have a little fun sometimes you might have to pay for it the next day but you will be okay. Jan you are not old 40 come on give me a break I am 62 soon too be 63 . Talk about a weekend . yesterday which was absolutely beautiful 74 degrees and sunny. Got together with my high school friends about 10 of them and we went to one of my high school friend's parent home that they bought several years ago it is a mansion and it was just awesome they don't lived there it is more for tours and It is historic ,we had a tour of it . They claim there is ghosts and all that some of things were creepy but I just thought it was amazing so after that we thought lets have some early dinner so being that we was in area that is upcoming and lots of pubs, bars and restaurants we ate down there. Then decided we should go to our favorite place in south city a bar with reasonable price drinks and y must have a band with a great big dance floor. so first Jerry and I had to come home and let the dog out and feed her ( she was coup up since 1 pm. it is not 6 pm after that we went out drinking and dancing the whole night got home at 2:30am the puppy must have thought we were nuts letting her out at 3am oh well didn't work on her sleeping in she woke me up at 7am and talk about old wow I think I aged another decade. :)

Any way all the liquid and empty calories I hope I burn them off dancing. because I never stop dancing for the most part and I am tired today. Well tomorrow I hit the gym and get Teagan for about 5 hours and Tuesday is lots of walking with puppy and taking care of Teags all day Wednesday is the gym for 2 to 3 hours and Thursday and Friday is work at Sam's full week again and loving it keeping me busy for a retiree!!!
J an sound like you are doing great and hope the trainer will work you sound like he might start out slow and keep increasing which can be a good thing., Good Luck. have great rest of weekend chat later.

Hi Rita,

The trainer went really easy on us Friday. I think he was still under the weather so mostly he had us stretching and using the roller to help work out our stiff points. Then we did a 15 min workout using ropes, medicine balls, and stair steppers. It was fun, got my heart rate up and didn't leave me unable to move today. I think he's going to go harder on us come Wednesday.

I hear ya on the food. Luckily we don't have any candy or treats in the house that will tempt me and we did have a couple beers last night but I'm ok with having a couple on the weekend. I can't call anything off limits or I'll go crazy and crave it.

It's going to be beautiful tomorrow and Monday as well so I'll be able to plant my garlic and maybe take June to the zoo.

Tonight I'm headed up to Boston to hang out with my girl friend from college. We're going out for sushi and then out dancing. I'll be up late and pray that I get some sleep this time. If they are going to party all night like last time I went up to visit then this might be the last time I go up to visit for a while. I'm too old to be pulling allnighters and they don't have kids so they don't fully understand the need for sleep. Kids don't care what time you went to bed. Kids need food and a schedule and will make you stick to it even if you're too tired.

wish me luck, I should hopefully burn some calories dancing tonight and then we're going to the gym Monday morning and have the trainer Wed & Fri as well so I think we'll be able to get to the gym 3x's this week. I'm already down from 134.4 to 132.2 as of Friday morning...yha, don't know why the sale went in the wrong direction there last week. Grrrr

Well it is Saturday and so far theeating is not totally lost I had a bowl of cheerios and coffee but the we have chocolates in the house I had to eat a few of those oh well no more~!! been for a 30 minute walk plan to take another one here in a little while with puppy it is gorgous today in the 70's and tomorrow the bottom will fall out again :( down in the 30's this up and down is soooo crazy you just don't know how to dress and what to expect. that is the St Louis weather though at least I will enjoy today. thhinking of all you on the east coast and hope you all are doing a okay hang in there and Jan hope the trainer is doing something for you and your hubby. let me know how it is going -- I am trying at least to make it to the gym a few times a week. Mondays and Wednesday are my best days right now. I just have to curved this eating. yikes!!! At least Jerry is okay with my weight I would just like to lose some of it before our trip . OHHHHHH !!!!!Jan I can relate so much the food the cold the empty calories the fatty calories ohhhhhhhhhhh
I have been getting to the gym and walking 2 3 times a day with our new puppy 20 to 30 minutes each time and I am still stuck on 132 it just don't move but I know it is my eating chips, snacks, in between meals and I made a homemade apple pie the other day and I am the only one eating Jerry ate one peice I have been eating one piece every night for the last four nites. I need to curve my eating again. I feel good but I know I need to stop eating if I want to lose some of this wight by January. Best of luck with your trainer let know how it goes. I am soo glad Jan that you all are doing okay I will still keep you in my prayers and feel for all the people that storm had effected and the snow and all the cold coming. chat later I am working the next couple days if I don't get on have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks so much Rita, you are a doll.

We actually made it through the storm with no damage and no power loss. We were much more fortunate than last year with Irene and much more fortunate than many people in RI along the coast. So many people are still without power or are in shelters here and in NY & NJ and everywhere Sandy touched. It is snowing now. Been so very cold. I have friends in NY still without power or heat and now this cold and snow. I thank my lucky starts we have been so fortunate.

Hubby and I actually signed up for a personal trainer. He's doing a "Tough Mudder" in April with the guys at his DC office and needs to train so I of course want to train too. It's cheaper to get the group training anyway so it will be both of us twice a week and sometimes another person or two. We were supposed to train today but the personal trainer had to cancel so we went to the gym and did some cardio for a little bit.

We've been packing the wood stove with wood to heat the house. I've been trying to clean out the basement of things I don't want to absorb the smell of oil when we have to turn on the oil burner.

My weight is still stuck up at 133. It's a bummer. I hope the trainer can help me shake off some of this fat. I still need to get better with my food too. Hard when it's cold. All I want is cheese and wine and hot carbohydrates like pasta and mashed potatoes. LOL! emoticon

Jan I have been thinking of you and your family and all the rest of the people on the East coast. I hope you are doing okay and everything is not lost . I have been awful busy lately but you are in my prayers and on my mind a lot, esp[ecially when I am working out which I am lucky to be able to make it to the gym 3 x at least and I have been walking our puppy a few times 15 minutes minimum and mostly 30 minutes a few time a day. still at 132 though but my body seem slender I thinkit is finally getting toned a little what ever . jan I have been praying and I will keep my fingers crosed for all of you on the east coast I hope the storm is not too bad I know about a tree also Jan we have one and every time we have a storm I pray that it doesn't fall down I know how that is I hope your basement doesn't get flooded there is something about it when it does there seem like there is a smell that never goes away. no matter what you do to clean.it.
I had a so much fun with Teagan todayI had her for about 5 hours and I will have have her on Tuesday also I did get a lot of my cleaning down yesterday all the base board and the hardwood floors on the first floor and all the window blinds. Tomorrow I plan to work with Jerry we are going to finished up about 14 lawns this will be heir last cut for the year probably then Turesday I will watch Teagan and Wednesday I will get to the gym for sure Thursday and Friday will be Sam club. I may go to the gym for an hour may be before I go out with Jerry. But believe it is work out all day any way. Well tonight I am having a few glasses of wine oh well we had to drink it once it open you have to finished it right ??? :) it goes bad at least that is what I heard hehehe. so here to you!!! I haven't ate much and went on two lone walks today. one pushing a stroller and holding a puppy. that in it self was feat. I love the cooler weather myself. I spent the morning getting everything off the basement floor by about a foot just in case we get flooding. We haven't flooded before but I don't want to take any chances. I'm mostly worried about the huge tree behind our house. The winds will be coming from the East which means if that tree comes down it will either crush the back of our house or demolish our garage. I've got my fingers crossed the tree holds it's ground. When Irene came through the tree had no leaves and many trees on our street came down roots and all but this time of year the leaves haven't dropped yet. Those leaves are going to act like a sail. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

I think things are going to start getting bad sometime tomorrow morning and last through Tuesday...School for June was already cancelled this afternoon for tomorrow not sure if she'll be going to school on Tuesday...we're just waiting now...

Have lots of fun with little Teagan and don't clean too hard!

I understand perfectly I know how it can be and you are a busy woman!!Wow you didn't need to worry with some of the workouts with carrying wood and pulling vegetables whoa!! Girl!!
I will stay in touch as much as possible and I hope that your power doesn't go out. but I know how that can be we get it here from time to time. Well I have been down on my hands and knees for about 3 hours scrubbing the baseboard and window sills and whatever hardwood floors . I am taking a break from it now and I have clothes to fold from yesterday.tomorrow I have my little Teagan so she will be a handful to keep up with but I have to admit I love every minute of it. I have lately had a little more energy than before I am hoping it is the exercise that is helping me with having more energy and that eventually the weight will start to drop as well I feel great really great lately it could be the weather too it is lot cooler actually the temps drop to the 50's . Hey Rita,

This week started out strong but dropped a bit at the end. I got in my challenges MT&W with no walk on Wed because I had a mammogram appt right after I dropped June off at school. Thur I volunteered for June's field trip to the farm so that took up most of the day. I did get in a quick walk to the post office before meeting back up at the school but no abs challenge that day. Friday June stayed home sick from school and we had people over for dinner so no walk and only 1 set of bi's tris challenge. I was running around cleaning the house and then found out we might be getting a bad storm so I dropped everything ran out to the store to buy bottled water and then ripped out my vegetable garden. It was all done anyway. This afternoon we're taking June on a Halloween trick or treat parade which works out just in case the storm is here on Halloween and we can't go trick or treating. Then we have a costume party at our friends house up in MA. We just got a wood delivery that has to get moved before the rains come so I'll be out there moving wood a few times today. Then tomorrow we hope to make it to the corn maze. It's the last weekend for that but we can't go if it's raining...I have no idea when it's supposed to start raining. We're supposed to start making frozen water bags in the freezer today. We got 2 whole extra days out of our fridge from the frozen ziplocks when we lost power for 4 days during the last big storm that ripped through here.

This upcoming week will be better time wise. Monday is free, Tuesday we've got a school play at 10am then I have to drive up to the vet to pick up my ferret's ashes so I may as well hit the craft store and get more yarn. Wednesday is free, as is Thursday. Friday June has an eye Dr apt at 3:30 so we don't even have to pull her out of school early for it and have the day to walk and workout. So it looks like Tuesday is going to be the only day that is a complete wash. Walking and errands this week of course depend on the storm and if we loose power and all that. Fingers crossed this one blows out to sea.

If I don't check back it's because we lost power but I'll check in as often as I can this week. I weigh in Monday morning...with 2 parties this weekend I don't know how much of a loss I'll have, if any but I'll do what I can to be good.

Good morning Jan well I did make it to the gym 3 times this week and yesterday was super not only did I get in my whole routine which is swimming for 30 min. and I did 45 instead and walk the track for 40 min and did weight machines 20 min whoa! then I came home and walk my puppy dog for an hour she is 3 months old and I wore her out she is a Australian cattle dog mix and we think with beagle.cute dog good dog so far. For the next two week I will be working at Sam club Thursday and Friday so I am going to try to make it Mon, Tues and Wed to the gym plus I do a lot of walking of the dog through out the day I also am trying to do some cleaning fall cleaning and getting ready for Thanksgiving we are having a crew over that day. I am eating pretty decent I haven't had any beers lately or lime a ritas either . I just took and 1/2 hour walk with the pup and I am drinking my coffee and going to get started cleaning the windows and blinds scrubbing the wood work and the like - feeling pretty good lately I feel like the body is shaping up I still am at 1232 I weight myself yesterday but I llook thinner probably toner I am guessing. any how keep plugging away I do want to look good for our trip in Jan. have a great weekend Jan and best of luck for next week!

Yes we cant do it!!!! We are alike and YES I DO NOT want to weight 132 in January we are going to so many places and I really like to look good. I didn't get to the gym but I took a run with the puppy this morning for 20 minute it is raining now but should be gone by noon so I plan to do lots of walking I am doing also some yoga . My biggest challenge is drinking more water I do more coffee so I have to remember to do water first the a cup of coffe and yes you are right about the acholol I had a couple of lime a ritas they are good made by Budweiser I love marquaritas and these really taste like it with no fuss. Jan we can do this we can support each other and keep us on track my eating has to be curved too we have soo many chips in this house Jerry is a chip man and I have to just say no and it is hard but I will do it. I know how it is with the wrong foods in the ouse and trying to stay control but we have to stay in touch to keep us remembering what counts. Thanks for the encouragement!!! Chat later
Oh yes we got another doggie. Last year Jerry had to put down his 15 yr old dog. so he has been wanted another one so 3 weeks ago we got a mutt at the Humane Society she is a cutie and so smart she pretty much house broke already and and sit she is 3 months and now going through the chewing stage but so far she has enough chew toys so we are doing pretty good with her. She is the mix between a Beagle and Australian cattle dog her latest is the digging and that is from the beagle but the smartest and running is the cattle dog. any way enough need to run chat later. We are both 5 feet tall
We are both very busy
We both weigh about 132 lbs
We both have vacations in January...

WE CAN TOTALLY DO THIS! We should totally be able to help motivate each
other to loose weight. Let me tell you, I do NOT want to go to Disney at the end of January weighing 132 lbs!!!

Yesterday was great but I had a few glasses of wine at dinner. At least all the alcohol is out of the house now so no more drinking during the week. I'm one of those people that just can't have it in the house. I'm not good with food or beverage temptations once I put them off limits. Just can't have them around.

Yesterday I did my 2 mile brisk walk and got in 3 sets for my shoulder and back challenge for a total of 36 shoulder presses and 36 bent over reverse flys.

Today is more water challenge and abs. I think I got in 5 glasses of water yesterday. Maybe a little more. Getting better!

Yes that is my little Teagan she is growing up fast who didn't know that she will be 14 months old already that was taken at about her year old birthday she doesn't have much hair

Jan, she is such a joy always a happy little girl I just love watching her and if I don't see her for a week or so I really miss her she is learning so much so fast.

I am making it to the gym at least 3 times a week Mon Tues and Wed so far this month I am only working Thursday but as last week went I work Thur Fri and Sat. oh well but I my eating has to get better I lost a pount I am down to 131 from last week I weight in at 132 so we will start with that I have to eat right more often and the drinking too I swam for 50 minute today and 1/2 hour walk 1/2 hour of weight machines tomorrow is just weight machines and walking for an hour. I am feeling good. I did a lot cleaning Fall cleaning a couple of rooms and closets and I am tired also I plan to do more tomorrow after I get back from the gym I am going to lose some of this weight before we go on our vaction in January.
Jan You are doing great and congrats on the pound lost andall the challenges you have and I am trying to get on that wagon too especially the water I got in 16 oz today not much but better than before I hardly been drinking any water.

Hey Rita, Love your new profile picture. Is that Teagan? How CUTE!

This week was pretty good for me. I'm down almost 1 lb. I think the loss would have been better if I ate better. I'm still working on that. It's going to be a life long battle. All Uphill...hahaha

I got in a walk (2 to 3 miles depending on the day) 5x's this week. Yhay!

I drank more water than usual but still never made it to 8 cups on any day. Going to focus on that this week.

Food, I started to track but didn't have time most days. I was however more mindful of eating stuff I shouldn't be and thinking about the foods I should be eating more often (fruits & veggies). This week I planned out some meals so hopefully food is coming back in line for good.

I also started some side challenges in addition to my brisk walks.

thur I did 60 lunges
sat I did 32 bicep curls with 12 pound weights.

This week I'm going to be a little more focused with the body part challenges.

Mon back shoulders
tue abs
wed lunges front & back
thur abs
fri bis & tris

I pretty much just go down to the basement every hour or 2 and do as many as I can with the heaviest weight I can manage while maintaining proper form...it's a start.

I've got to work this morning so I don't know if I'll get in a walk today...I'll have to figure something out. I've got to get over to the rental property for the carpet installation at 9am. I'll fit something in.

how did this week go for you I made it to the gym 3 times this week swim for 1/2 hour on Mon & Wed and on tues walk 40 minute and weight machine on Monday I also walk 1/2 hr and 20 min of weight machine. ate so so I am getting better also with the water but not there yet I worked Thursday and Friday so no exercise.

Barb and Crystal also Candice hope you all are doing fine and still hanging in there with exercise and eating moderate hope you all are getting the support you need to stay healthy.

Hello Ladies!!

Whew, I have been CRAZY BUSY! We had our Halloween party Saturday night so life is going to settle down a bit for me and I can once again focus again on my health.

I let my food get way out of control. My stress levels sky rocketed and exercise has become non existent. I haven't been drinking my water, paying attention to what I'm shoving in my mouth and I feel like crap. I am tired all the time and most of my clothes don't fit me anymore.

Today is my day to start over.

I will focus on:

water intake (min 8 sups)
exercise (1x a day 5 days a week)
food choices (track it)

I hope all of you are well and working towards your goals. If anyone is still around I'd love to get some mini challenges going. Right now my main goals are in the focus list above, feel free to join me for any or all 3 focus challenges.

hi everyone well it is Sunday and I haven't really done much just cleaning out the kitchen cabinet and getting rid of a lot of unused stuff sending to goodwill. Not doing much exercise but I work hard yesterday at Sams and watch my 1 yr old grand daughter last evening she kept me on my feet. tired today. I have to work tomorrow will try to get in a walk later maybe to day but definitely tomorrow. Tuesday will try the gym and Wednesday Thursday a workday so Friday will get to the gym again I hope to make it 3 times this week. We will see. Hi everyone hope that everyone is doing a okay it has been a while sine you have been on hope that you are still plugging away with exercise and that .
Jan I hope you workout is doing great and you are doing a lot of walking I get out to walk the weather here is great for walking it has definitely cool down some.
I made it to the gym today for one swam an hour and walk for 45 minutes and did weight machines for 20 minutes I got a great work out I just wished I could do that every day . :( I am down to 130 though not really trying I have lost 4 lbs in a month or so in August I was 134 so I am getting there I am not really watching too much of eating but trying to get better with it and I have done the walking lately. so we will see I like to lose at least another 5 or so lbs before January we will see. that sound like a winner with the new cap and even a walk or two helps I know I been do some drinking too lately those marquaritas rreally get me. love 'em. my eating has been soso though haven't got the gym may wednesday at this point I a watching my grand daughter at 8am tomorrow and not sure about Tuesday could go but can't swim so I usually don't get to excted about going to the gym but Wednesday I will go to swim and work out.Thursday a work day and don;'t know about Friday yet Saturday another work day at least I am only working a couple f days again. Jan I am so sorry about your pet,ferret I know it can be rough to lose or have a pet put down I have had to do that several time in my years with dogs. It is very hard they become like family for you . So sorry for your loss. Hey Rita, I just got back from the vet. I had to have my ferret put to sleep today. I'm pretty sad. He was only 3 1/2 years old and a great pet. He was such a good boy and never ever bit. He recently got very sick and his medication wasn't helping him. I think this hot summer was too stressful for him so he got sick.

I was able to get out for a few walks but I've been bad with food and booze. I did buy a new cap at the Salvation Army yesterday to throw over my bed head so I can go out for early morning walks a couple times a week before Hubby and June wake up for school.

Gotta get dinner on the stove.

Well it has been a while again and I am working working tomorrow I am finallt off and I plan on making it to the gym I haven't been eating too much we will see the weight justdoesn't want to come off but I have to admit I haven't been too faithful witht the gym at least not this week working too much you would think though all the work I do lifting and that I would but I guess it just isn't the same. And don't I know it thanks Jan what a day I worked until 2 again!!!:( I was exhausted but I am off the next two day whoa !!! then do it again on Thursday and I only hope I don't get ask to work either firday or saturday.. I do relxed though I did tonight I been on the computer checking out traveling schedules we are planning a trip in the winter January and possibly February Jerry is off those two months the ground is frozen and he doesn't do too much none at all heheh ** landscaping in those months. so we are planning on going to San Fran CA to see his brother the on to Tampa FL to see his sister and stop in between there to some sightseeing of course like the grand canyon , hoover dam may be New Orleans who knows we will do lots of relaxing and enjoy the ride this time we will leave the driving to the bus driver .Grey hound. Planning on working out tomorrow at the gym And wednesday for sure I can swim on Wed. Goodness, my head would be spinning. I thought I was busy. I'm just so thankful I don't have to report to a job too. I don't know how you get up that early. The earliest I can get up and function properly is 6am. Any earlier and I'm a zombie just going through the motions.

Still haven't gotten in a proper workout but I have gone on a few walks which have been nice.

I know I have days like that Jan some of the time. It is like what did I do when I work a full time and a part time job whew!!! I made it to the gym and swam Friday dor 1/2 hour and walk for an hour then donated blodd at red cross went to get my hair cut pick iup my grand daughter fed her lunch and put her down for a nap straighten up a little while she slept and the it was close to dinner time she got pick up by her daddy and ate some kind of dinner went to bed to only get up at 4 am to go to work Saturday and work until 2 had my daughter over for dinner a bbq at 6 and were also was babysitting Paddy Jerry's grand son mine too really. and here it is Sunday night 8pm and I am checking my emails for the first time this weekend. I also have to go to bed I have to get up tomorrow to go to work yes 4 am. I work 5 to 1:30 usually Saturday was 2 though:(. Planning on getting to the gym the rest of the week I don't have to work until Thursday after tomorrow. .We will see. Take care Jan and best of luck in getting some exercise in this week!!

I haven't gotten to do any workouts yet myself. Yesterday we spent 3 hours at the vet and $400 we still don't know exactly what is wrong with my ferret. He's very ill. They put him on a bunch of medication. Has to have it administered 4x's a day.

Today, I just don't know where it went...got up at 6am got June's lunch together, next thing I knew it was 7:30 time to get in the shower, brought June to school, made breakfast for Hubby and I, took care of the ferret, picked up the house, sorted the laundry (which I have yet to put in the machine) made lunch, knitted for a half hour, took care of the ferret, picked up June from school, got a snack together and now here I am 3:15. As soon as June finishes her snack we're off to the grocery store and then it will be time to make dinner. Whew, I don't know how people with full time jobs get it all done.

I'm going to sit down and figure out exercise routine so I can put it in place for next week.

Jan Great going on losing th 2 lbs and I know the drinking over the summer hasn't help me either I started to cut back and great idea on going to Washington first and stopping at his brother's I may suggest that it just that he just want to go to San Fran I am the one that really wants to see Seattle again.I have been on the West coast and the southwest several times and yes it is beautiful but it wasn't really vacation time more for business and that sort of thiing. this time I am taking my time. we are expected to get more rain it wouldn't hurt with all the rain we got from Hurricane Isaac because we were in such a drought it really did help but we are so dry we need more rain at least this year we won't have the flooding the rivers still are not fill . I am wotking a lot right now and baby sitting haven't got to the gym this week but look like I may next. Just finished cutting the lawn this morning back and front took 45 minutes so that will probably be the best workout I will get .
babysitting my grand daughter til 5 tonight so I may take a walk with her if it doesn't rain. Well check in later . Take care everyone . Holding my own feeling good. eating pretty decet. too many sweets lately at work need to have more self control., but other than that I am doing good.

That trip sounds wonderful! When I was in my 20's a couple of friends of mine rented a mini van and drove from SanFran all the way down to Tiguanna and then across the dessert to Las Vegas. Did we see some amazing stuff. The drive along the west coast was beautiful. I think it was route 1. Maybe you could start in Seattle and drive the length down with a stop at his brothers as a break.

I've never driven the east coast down. You'll have to let me know how that trip is. Are you going to rent a camper? If your vehicle was a place to sleep and you had a portable grill then you'd save a lot of cash and calories.

My detox is going well. It is the one I did with the holistic guide so I get to eat food on this one. I'm already down 2 lbs. Not boozing alone is a great help. My poor liver needs a rest, I drink too much in the summer.

It just started raining so it looks like I won't have to water the lawn today. Lucky us we got all of the wood deliver stacked and covered. I sure slept great last night. I was going to go for a walk today but it looks like I'll have to figure something else out for exercise. I'm staying away from that Jillian Michaels for a while.

hi jan I think of you and all the ladies too I am glad June like her teacher ands that it is great thing When they are young like that it is good to reinforce great study habit and hope that the teacher are a number one sometimes you just have to reinforce by what ever it takes . they have to succeed and that even if the teacher is not that great They the student have to and go far above the teacher. My two are a success and I am so proud of them but you will hear them say MOM we couldn't have done it without you!! You were the force.!! I still push them to do their best and love their job if they don't love their job move on!!! For real even with the economy the way it is find the job that is fulfilling to you!!! keep looking to you do. Both of my kids are happy in their jobsand their lives and that is what counts. I am doing great getting to the gym 2 to 3 day this week with the holiday I will not may Friday. Over the weekend had a few beers and marquaritas eat okay some junk.bi t too much I am getting toned up though I haven't lose much maybe a pound or two;. I am getting back into this.

We are planning a trip in the winter for a month or more all of January pretty much and some of February may be. We are going to drive we are headed to the West coast spend time with Jerry's brother and then drive the West coast up and down . His brother lives in San Fransico and I would like to also so drive up to Seattle WA.
then go the Grand Canyon then drive the south to Tampa FL to see his sister. We would spend about a week with his brother and then his sister and the rest of the time would be a day or so of sigfght seeing when ever. but we would probably be gone about a month or so. can't hardly wait. I like to lose some of this weight now because a lot of this traveling means eating out a lot and you all know how fast food is . oh well.

Hey Rita,

Great job keeping active and less jiggly! I've been crazy busy. I threw out my back after just 2 Jillian workouts so I never got to do her program. Was pretty much couch confined. My back is better and Hubby just had his birthday so we've been celebrating and snacking and not having enough time to prepare healthy meals. Just grabbing what we can and drinking too much. I'm up to 132.8 again. Started the holistic detox and will be moving wood today and will also start walking after we drop June off at school. She loves her new teacher and the new school. It' such a relief!

I'm thinking about you ladies all the time.

Hello everyone well it is Wednesday Aug 29th and get ready for the Labor day weekend. I have been working out at the gym swimming and weight machines and getting back into shape I have noticed that my body is not as flabby :) haven't lose weight to speak of may a pound or two feel good. Have been mowing greass and working at Sam's lifting boxes ans the like So I have been staying active. Have a safe Holiday weekend and I hope you all are doing a okay!!!

Happy Monday !!
Well got a workout saturday and Sunday we work in the yard over the weekend cutting trees down and digging to China *haha* to get the roots then we dug some trees out also to China to put the some where else we have Rose of Sharon trees on the side of the house no one see so we are going to put the in the back along the back so we can enjoy the we had a bunch of just junkie looking trees so today we are going to lay sod that will be another work getting a whole pallet of sod I did make it to the gym though and swam for 1/2 hour and 20 minute on the weight machines so I feel great but I need to get to work before the sun gets too hot. have a great day my eating is so so I am starting to cut back on the junk food it isn't in the house so that helps. chat later.

Jan I can relate to the chips i have to get in line on my eating since vacation but I am making it to the gym and I am going to get on the stick in losing this weight I need some motivation help!!!as aI drink another bud light .work all day at sam's and now I am winding down who know what I plan on eating and that is the bad part it will more likely be some junk especially when I am drinking beer. just munch on some chips or what ever.tomorrow another day ugh!!! that is my problem.but I did have a fabulouse time and I really am going to get going on losing some of this weightl.Stay in touch love you all.

Hi Barb, nice to hear from you! I hear you on the busy front.

Hey Rita, so glad you had an awesome vacation. I knew you would. Don't you fret over your vacation weight I have no doubt with all your activity at Sams you'll take it right off.

I have packed on a bunch of weight the past couple weeks. I don't know how much yet because I haven't gotten on the scale but it feels bad. I did 2 of those Jillian workouts. After the first workout I couldn't walk or sit for 3 days. Boy, I am out of shape. Then the day after the 2nd video I threw out my back. If I wasn't drinking to kill the pain I was popping pain killers. My back is better today but I'm still not 100%. I did start light walking this week and hope to start doing some of my old firm videos on Monday. Fingers crossed I don't hurt myself again. I've really got to get my food back in line. I've ben eating too many chips. Salty Crunchy is my nemisis.

Other than that just very busy with June and lots of side craft projects for my etsy shop.

HELLOOOOO everyone where are you all I been gone on vacation but it looks like I am the last post hey hope you are all doing okay hellloooo!!!!!
Well I am going to need all you support guys I put on about 2 to 3 lbs while I was on vacation we did a lot of walking but not enough considering all the food and sweets I put in my mouth we had homade ice cream about every night mmmm but calories ugh!!!
I am back at it eating rabbit food veggies and more veggies and I have made it to the gym yesterday and today. Have to work tomorrow at Sam's but I may get out Saturday in the yard and do some laboring hard work in the yard . The weather is finally cooling down we show have a cold front come into tonight and cool off to the 80's that will be a break. Had a wonderful trip to Bald Head Island very relaxing and enjoyable lots of quality time with Jerry's sister, brother and brother in law and nephew who is 10 years old. fun times. great weather. Rain one day but not bad over all. the sun came out in the afternoon. Check in later doing and feeling good have to lose this weight though need HELP

Rita, Have a wonderful vacation in NC!!! I hope the weather is fabulous the whole time for you.

Did my dvd this morning n lvl 1. It was tough, no weights, but I didn't have to stop once so it was nice to see I haven't lost all my endurance. Tomorrow I'll add light weights. I plan on doing the dvd 6x's per week.

Well the weather at least cool down a little it will only be in the hi 90's tomorrow though is to be 103 but this humidity is a killer. I can't get to the gym it is close this week I am going to be pretty busy any way getting ready for the trip.
I work Tomorrow and Wednesday. Wednesday night we have Teagan - they are going to a concert, Thursday we are taking Paddy he will be 4 yrs. on Saturday 8/4 and we will be leaving early that morning to head to North Carolina or we may be already gone we may leave Friday it just depends if we get everything done. Today we have lawns to cut it has been two weeks since they been cut but nothing is growing fast. The temps are to be 98 or 99 today. I have beend doing good on the eating this weekend eating smaller portions. I have lost any thing weigh myself and I am still at 129 or 128 somewhere in there I am not crazy about the scale we have here at home can't wait to get to the gym when I get back from N.C. hope I do okay on the eating there.
We are all doing fine though.
Jan we had a little rain yesterday for about two hours just a drizzly day drop drop nothing like a storm we need one they have put signs up on the highway about to be caution because everything is so dry it could start a fire . A person through out a cigarette about a few weeks ago and got arrested because he actually start a fire that spread to a neighbor hood no one hurts but there highway strip of land and people yards and got close to burn some of their homes.
Yes I can't believe a year has came and went too I don't feel any older but she is a year and what a blessed year it has been with her she is such a joy --every stage is great she is just a little monkey.
Good luck Jan on your new dvd.

Been busy. Mostly cold and stormy with bouts of humidity here. My 30 Day Shred showed up on Sat so I'm going to start it tomorrow. Food was somewhat off the charts this weekend as we were visiting friends in NH. Just got back a little bit ago. I'm looking forward to getting back on the exercise wagon tomorrow.

Happy B-Day to your GrandBaby Rita, gosh, the time sure does fly. I can't believe a whole year just passed us.

I'll check back tomorrow and let you know what I thought of my new exercise dvd.

Another blistering day I have my granddaughter today she is napping right now so I have a little bit of a break eating well and took an 1/2 hour walk pushing a stroller I was a ball of sweat this morning then walk all over Target til lunch time fed my little one and now I am resting . I have her til about 4 then her mommy will pick her up. Any way I hope you all are doing okay and eating well and exercise stay on track one day at a time is going to get to our goals. take care everyone stay cool.

hi everyone another day of 105 and it looks like tomorrow will be about the same ugh!!!!!
Well today I went to the gym only to find out that it is close for two weeks before school opens I still go to Washington University gym and I haven't been there for quite sometime and I remember that it closes for remodeling or cleaning oh well so I decided to take a walk in this heat for 1/2 hour I was soaked wet to say the least after that I went to get a haircut and hi lite on my hair I love it too it looks good I need to get a pic out there may be my daughter could help me with that. well hope you all are a okay!! hang in there. ?Chat later I get my little grand daughter tomorrow to watch and I can't believe she will be 1 on Saturday already the time has really flown by super fast It really seems like she was just born --- and here she will be 1 yr July 28th.!!!WOW !!!! They do grow up too tooo fast.

Thanks Barb the heat is still here and there is no relief in sight Chicago did get some storms last night which help cool them off but it didn't make it down as far as us. in St Louis it is has been 106 and 107 since Saturday and we may get to 99 by the end of the week just may be no rain though it is horrible. This has been some summer the hottest since 1934 and I lost count how many days in has be in the hundreds it is double digits probably close to 20 days now and also the last time we have had rain at least in St louis county is May.1/2 inch. something like that.
Well I am doing fine not eating much maintaining is about it. no exercise haven't made it to the gym yet hopefully soon though I need to get into the swing of it it just that it is so hot it just takes a lot out of you. I will say that the last couple of days we (jerry & I ) worked out in the yard lay pavers for our patio in the 106degree we did sweat drank plenty of fluids water included. did that for 2 of the 3 days that I was off. I work today and now I am off until next week. only working finally 2 days a week again. Tomorrow we plan on finishing the project so we will work in the heat again it is to get to 106 tomorrow also. but we should have it done hopefully by tomorrow we laid over 1000 pavers . the two patio are huge (16x15 and 20x12) plus the sidewalk that connect the two of them and in front of the stair that lead to the back of the house. Good Afternoon Ladies,
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Yes this heat ahs been awful. I am doing well. I am hanging in around 158 but hopefully now that I have started eating better and exercising that will start to move again. Things have been busy. Still having issues with Brian, he is not liking the fact that he has to go to summer school so he has had several not so good days. So much so the counselor is ready to violate him to try and get him into a residential home program which at this point he is in need of or he will end up in the wrong system.
I went to Chicago last week for a Ceramics conference (first conference in my 12 yrs at corning and first time that I was totally away from the kids for that long) it was a great exerperience but I came down with Strep Throat the second day I was there so I was very sick the entire trip. I honestly think I became sick because i was finally stress free so my body just broke down. I also was grabbed (in the butt) byt some creepy dude when I walked to the store to get medicine. But all in all it was a good experience. I did not gain any weight maybe because of being sick even though I did eat I guess it was not over eating.
Rita- I hope the weather has cooled a bit there. I also hope you enjoy your trip when you go. We all need time away.
Jan- I am sure you will get totally on track you always do. Hope all is well with June?
Candance hope everything is going well.

I am not leaving for Bald Head Island, NC until August 3rd to august 14th can't be sooner enough we have had 3 days of over 100 actually it today was actuaaly 106 and tomorrow will be the same the first day of relief with be Thursday and it will be 99. whoa!!! Any how we are doing okay and getting use to the weather but thanks. not eating much just need to work out but it just is too hot to work out. even in a/c. chat later.take care every one and stay cool

I love your new profile pic too Crystal. So great to hear from you and know your job is going great! I've heard wonders about the Jillian dvd's. A friend on another team is doing the body revolution. It's really expensive but would actually be cheaper than a year membership at my gym so I'm considering cancelling the gym and buying the dvd set. Maybe I'll see if I can get the 30 day shred for cheap and see if I stick to it before I buy her big set.

Have a wonderful trip Rita, drive safe and enjoy the cooler weather. We had a terrible storm rip through her the other day and we dropped 20+ degrees. Hope the storm didn't interfere with your beach vacation.

Eating has been sporadic but mostly all salads, exercise is where I've been bad, it's not even happening but I'm getting ready to start back up and get back on the wagon. The heat has taken a lot of my umph away but I've got to stay focused as best I can. Thanks for the 30 day shred idea.

Crystal it is great to hear from you . But hey I think we are all so busy with summer sounds like you are doing great though gosh I wish I could get to the gym I have been working so much and when I get off after a 9 or 10 hour day I am tired and it is so hot to even go for a walk in the afternoon lately today it is to get to 108 again it was 105 or 6 yesterday we have had 13 day of 100 degree weather no rain since May there is such a drought it is just horrid!!!
I am doing okay eating decent the last two days we will see how the rest of the week will go.
Starting next week I will be only working one or two days hooraY!! Maybe I will make it to the gym I WILL make it to the gym I am looking forward to it.
Agust 3rd thru to Aug 14 I will not be on Jerry and I are going to Bald Head Island NC for a week this is close to Myrtle beach white sands !!! Yea!!! His sister rented a beach house and invited us to come for a week and we are taking her up on it and hopefully get away from the heat for a little while if nothing else we can go in the ocean to cool off huh? It will be good for us to get away from work too. We are driving. Hope I will be able to exercise and eat right but hey after all I am on vacation I just have to not overindulged too much huh?

Hi ladies!

How are you all doing?

I am doing well. Been BUSY BUSY BUSY! I have been trying to eat right, exercising everyday and trying to keep up with the new 5% challenge I joined.

I'm having a hard time with my eating. Not so much staying in my ranges but how to track it now that I work overnights. If I track according to date my tracking day changes in the middle of my actual day (night). But I have a hard time figuring out how to track any other way, unless I count from the time I wake up until I go back to sleep as a day and just have my tracker be slightly off.... any suggestions?

Exercise has gotten easier now that I've gotten my mind and body convinced that exercising after 9pm is ok. I have started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I'm loving it and it is challenging so far. It has 3 levels of intensity, each one is a 20 minute workout that has 3- 6 min circuits that incorporate 3 mins of strength, 2 mins cardio and 1 min abs. Plus a 2 min warm up & 2 min cool down. It sounds easy but it is very intense and I can feel it working! So far I'm doing level 1 without the weights. I plan to buy some with my next paycheck (friday) and do level one for a few extra days before moving on to level 2. Today was my 3rd day and I can already feel a difference. For example, the pushup segment feels a lot easier, I still struggle towards the end but I NEVER used to be able to even do girlie push ups, so being able to do 30 seconds of them without stopping makes me happy! If you are interested in my progress, thoughts and results I've been posting in my sparkblog everyday :)

I've finally adjusted to my new schedule and hubby & I stay on that schedule on the weekends as well. It makes my life so much easier. I'm really loving my new job and my co-workers are awesome! They help make what can be a high-stress job a lot easier and more fun.

Well, I'm going to make a point to catch up on posts asap. I hope you are all doing well. Have a great night ladies.
