Hi There ~ emoticon For some reason I cannot get into SP from work right now. We are in the path of the ice storm. It is supposed to start as I am coming home from work tonight. They are saying we could get up to 1/4" of ice & a possiblility of pwer outages. I am so ready for spring. I had already taken tomorrow off so at least I won't have to go out. I am still struggling with my cold hopefully in a few more days it will be better. Be safe everyone!

Hi Everyone ~ Went to the Dr for a new presciption to anti-depressant yesterday & Benadryl. He wants to do some tests to see if the psoriasis is the only reason for my itching (as I do itch often where there is no psoriasis). I hate getting blood drawn but will get it done next week. I think I have a cold coming on so it is going to be a funf weekend at work. On the plus side I am off Tuesday. The kitties are still squabbling. Not as often but still. Shadow is too stubborn to leave the others alone when they are upset & right now is trying to start something with one of the gargoyles (our nickname for 2 of the rescues they just kind of looked gargoyle like when they were kittens). Have a good day everyone and take care of yourselves! And think spring!

I am sorry to hear about your father & that you are not able to go see him due to the weather. I am glad he is headed home. They can be frightening I know. I had a mini-stroke myself a little over a hear ago.

Here they are expecting snow later tonight only about an inch right now. It has been such a horrible winter for everyone. I had checked what the "Old Farmer's Almanac" said about this area before the winter & it had said colder than normal but little precipitation. Had it right about the temp but lied lied lied about the snow.

Good morning,
We have about 8-10 inches of fresh ole snow this morning. It is pretty to look at but not be out in it and of all times my father had another mini stroke yesterday right in the middle of the storm. I am 2 hours away anyways and with this snow storm I couldn't get home but thankfully he is ok and headed back home.
Hows the weather where you guys are all at???

~~**Climb The Mountain*~~
I tried to climb the mountain today. As I inched my way up the path, I felt out of breath and had to turn back.

I tried to climb the mountain today. But, It was so hot outside, I thought I had better stay in my nice air-conditioned house and rest up for tomorrow's attempt.

I tried to climb the mountain today. On my journey, darkness started to fall and I was full of fear, so I had to return to a safe place.

I was ready to climb the mountain today. But I had so may other things to do, so instead of climbing the mountain I took care of the much more important tasks; I washed my car, mowed the grass and watched the big game. Today the mountain will have to wait.
I was going to climb the mountain today. But as I stared at the mountain in all it's majestic beauty, I knew I had no chance of making it to the top, so I figured why even begin trying.

I had forgotten about climbing the mountain today, until an old friend came by and asked what I was up to lately. I told him about all my plans to climb that mountain someday. I went on and on about how I was going to accomplish the task.

He stopped me and said, "I just got back from climbing that mountain. for the longest time I told myself I was going to try to climb it but never made any progress."

"I almost let the dream of making it to the top die. I came up with every excuse of why I could not make it up the mountain, but never once did I give myself a reason why I could. One day as I stared at the mountain and pondered, I realized that if I didn't make an attempt at this dream all my dreams would eventually die."

" The next morning, I started my climb. It was not easy, and at times I wanted to quit. But no matter what I faced, I placed one foot in front of the other, keeping a steady pace. When the wind tried to blow me over the edge, I kept walking. When the voices inside my head screamed, stop! I focused on my goal, never letting it out of sight. I kept moving forward. I could not quit because I knew I had come too far to stop now. Time and time again, I reassured myself that I was going to finish this journey. I struggled mightily to make it to the top, but I CLIMBED THE MOUNTAIN."

"I have to be going," my friend said. "Tomorrow is a new day to accomplish more dreams. By the way what are you going to do tomorrow?"

I looked at him, with intensity and confidence in my eyes, and said, "I HAVE A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB."

Hi Everyone ~ It is Wednesday & I am so tired after my "work week" - hopefully later today I will feel more energetic. Someone is here servicing the furnace right now (or I would have kitties on my lap & it would be hard to type). They are scaredy cats - can't blame em - plus he is running the vacuum. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow to get a new script for my anti-depressant and possibly something a little stronger for pain for those times it is blinding. They are starting a new biggest loser-type competition at work again this year - not sure if I will try again or not. Last year yes a lot of people had success but I ended up feeling left out in so many ways. There was no real one on one contact at all with anyone. Plus the challenges they had - at least the first few I could not compete in - one was a walking one & right now with my knees cannot do that very much & the next was about fast/restaurant food - and the places they listed I have never eaten at and in most cases never heard of. I will wait & see what changes they have made this year. I hope everyone is having a good week.

Good Morning Everyone ~ Snowy & yucky here today. Passed 2 accidents on the way into work. I will call the Dr. this week to see about a prescription for depressions meds - I am bad about taking them tho - I forget so easy. But, hopefully they will help in more than one way. Especially, being a better leader here for everyone.

Rosie has her moods. She does not like Lucy or Daisy at all (well they were little bullies until they were spayed & both have mellowed a lot) & Minnie I think was just trying to play with her not bully. Hopefully, it will continue to get better.

That sounds great that Minnie and Rosie were in the same area and no growls etc. Slow and steady!

I hope that you will feel better yourself. Depression is a terrible thing. Been down that road myself a time or two. I got a better handle on things last year and was able to drop 40 lbs. This year I have a goal for 50 plus. Having a tough time getting back into the routine from the holidays etc. I've got to get my tush in gear soon otherwise I won't make my goal.

No foods with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, rice syrup, corn syrup, fructose, sucrose etc. in the first three ingredients.

No foods that have more than 3 ingredients that I can not pronounce.

If an item has more than 10 ingredients it is too processed, I will not eat or buy the item.

Happy Sunday Everyone ~ Cats are indeed "special" mine all are. Right now we have 7 litter boxes in the house. Rosie pooped in the sink again last night. The thing is I do not think Minnie was trying to bully her when Rosie made it to the kitchen a couple weeks ago - I think she was trying to play - but I can understand how Rosie can see it as bullying. Plus, I know it does not help that Rosie is blind in one eye. I will keep working with her and hope she starts feeling more secure. Minnie was in the bathroom near her this morning & Rosie did not growl at her as she had a couple days ago so that may be progress.

Speaking of progress - sigh.... I am making none at all. I have got to figure out how to get my mind set on making progress - I know part of it is depression but I need to get over that I truly do.

Have a good day everyone! Stay warm & safe.

Yes cats are "very special".

I heard a funny thing just the other day on the tv. The person was saying a dog will lay beside their dead owner and mourn them for the rest of their lives.
A cat will play with the dead owners toe tag as the owner is wheeled out the door and then meows to be fed!!!

I use to work for a vet and he had a huge soft spot for cats. I hope the spray helps, it does seem too, we used it in the office. Plus we had cat rooms the vet never allowed any other animals in there because he believed it stressed them to smell dogs etc.

Sounds like Rosie is being bullied, but here is another idea. We had some success with doubling the amount of cat boxes to the number of animals, but you could also see if you changed the litter brand. Some cats don't like the smell of some of the brands. Perhaps a special box for her in a quiet area might help too.

Our sweet puss died in 2008 after a battle with cancer. She was a princess, she had four litter boxes would not pee or poop in the same box. If they were not cleaned daily she too would poop beside the box. Because of our life style right now it is not possible to have animals, I miss having a cat curled up beside me!

I wish you the very best with Rosie and the rest of your fur babies.

Long story about Rosie. Took her to the vet in May emoticon she had a urinary tract infection at that time. Well, when we brought her home she went into the bathroom & rarely ventures out now. It is her "safe zone". She did venture out a couple weeks ago & made it to the kitchen before her fur-sister started to pester her & right back to the bathroom she went. Shortly there after she stated pooping outside of the litter box - most of the time in the bathroom sink. There are 3 litter boxes in the bathroom. I did not connect the 2 events of her coming out to the living area & being pestered to the pooping. But, the vet says nothing else is really wrong with her & it sounds like that triggered her behavior. Not sure if the Feliway is helping any - may be too early to tell. The vet also suggested classical music so I will set the stereo up with classical music tomorrow. And may try to find some lavender too (when te weather gets better) I have read that can help (keeping it out of their reach though). I just have a house full of kitties with issues. At one point the vet trimmed her claws (need to put a scratching post in the bathroom area for her) & he paws and ears turned bright pink - she was a MAD kitty. And Casper my white kitty has pouted all day because he didn't get to go to the vet. I does this every time one of the other cats goes to the vet & does not get to go. CATS!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Took Rosie to the vet this morning. The vet says she is fairly healthy & believes it to be a behavioral issue. I got one of the Feliway dispenders at the vet & hopefully it will help her. It is an icy day out today & tomorrow snowy & more snow. How is everyone doing?

Hi Everyone ~ I am ready for spring! Scools are all closed around here - rain last night turned icy. And Thursday more snow. Snow is a 4 letter word in my dictionary! Rosie (kitty) gas a vet appointment at 10AM. Putting Rosie in a carrier is akin to putting the Tasmanian Devil in a carrier. I may not come out alive. Have good & safe day everyone!

I made better choices yesterday stayed in my calorie range and did 30 minutes of exercise. I am feeling so much better today.

Deb I know what you mean about making better choices sometimes it is hard but I am the same way I don't say I can't have if It fits into my calories.

Karen did you stay in your calorie range? Did you exercise?

I challenge both of you today to 30 minutes of exercise and staying in your calorie range. Have a great day

Jackie

HOw are you two doing? I stayed in my calorie range, but my choices could have been healthier ones yesterday. Oh well, had to grab on the run yesterday will prepare better today though. I dont count anything as off limits, I just count my calories if I indulge. I think my biggest thing that I need to watch closer is my sodium intake. I am always over the range on that seems like.

Karen I challenge you today to stay in your calories and get 20 minutes of exerice in. I know how stress can affect the eating but we really need to find a different way to deal with it. Go for a walk, take deep breaths I did the sparkpeople stress challenge last year it is four weeks long you should check it out found they gave good ideas to use.

Deb your doing a great job keep it up.

I ate in my calorie range but could have made better choices I did do 30 minutes of exercise. Today better choices I have been at the top end of the calories need to work my way down a bit more.

Hi Everyone! The last 2 days at work were very bad. The past 2 days calls have been backed up & most of the callers grumpy (I work in a credit card call center). Yesterday seemed like it would never end. But, here I am to my day off. My calories have not been good the last couple days. I will try better but I am struggling. The stress of work plus not feeling well in general plus that time of the month = emoticon I just wish there was a different job out there for me that is not quite as much stress - but job are still scarece here like everywhere.

Jackie emoticon on staying under your calorie count!!!

And Deb you are doing super this week as well emoticon !!!!

Well, for me today is a new day - I am going to make an effort this afternoon to get up and move rather than sit ont he sofa all day like I usually do on my days off (I am really bad about that). I want to get soem laundry & cleaning done. Plus I am going to make a real effort to put my Dance Revolution game in and sit and exercise to it for 20 - 30 minutes.

Have a fantastic day everyone - Lucy is here demanding attention.

Hello Team. I am doing good staying in my calorie range this week. Just think, if we can maintain an average of 2 lb weight loss per week, in 6 months time that is 52lbs. Wow!!! Something to work towards, right? That is my new goal. To do that in the next 6 months. Hope I am 52 lbs lighter by July 4th.

If you don't want to keep starting over, don't give up in the first place.

Today I didn't do that I had a doctors appt. ran out the door came home and just grabbed food because I was hungry my portions was to big will go calculate my calories and see if I can manage to save myself today or if I will be over my calorie range.

Good Morning, January is off to a good start so far for me, calorie wise. I got to get back into exercise though. I think will check out some online today to do at home also. I got the new issue of weight watchers mag yesterday. It has some really good and simple recipes in it. I think am gonna try out the honey mustard pork chops this week. Will let you know how it turns out. Something different that I have been doing the past two days is this. I have been having a snack right before I go to bed around 300 calories. I have not been in the frig during the nights, since I been doing this either. Seems like I ate all day yesterday, yet I was still under my calorie range by a little. I had my two fruits as in between meal snacks also. So I ended up eating 6 times yesterday. Eating every 3 hours seems to work the best for me. What is working the best for you ladies?

Good Afternoon ~ So far for the past 2 days I have not kept in calorie range - will try to do better today. Though today is that time of the month and I feel like crud. I am glad you are back on track Deb. Jackie I know we can keep within calorie range today! Have a great day!

Good morning team. Sorry I have been away, have just been so busy during December. I was making a lot of crafts, shopping etc. All my grandkids took turns spending the holidays with us too. I am ready for fresh start and a break too, lol. I got a plane to catch this summer, so I want to lose 40 more pounds at least by then. Wish me luck , and good luck to all of you also. Let the challenges begin.

Hi Everyone ~ I stayed on track until I got home from work last night - ugh! Will try again today. I admit sometimes when it comes to eating I have absolutely no self control at all. If it is there I will eat it no matter if it is one of something or a dozen. I know a lot of it is stress. I did get some St. John's Wort today & see if that will help with my depression any. I know I cannot keep up the way I am. I hope everyone has a great day!

Happy New Year!!!!!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Finally 2011 - I am hoping & praying for a better 2011 for everyone! I stepped on the scale this morning to get my starting weight for the year & I am back up to 327 (326.9) emoticon I would say my resolve to get back on track is not full-steam yet. Maybe about 60%. I did pack my lunch today with healthier foods. I did try a bit of my husbands low fat salad dressing last week & it is ok (not my favorite but ok). So I have that with a salad. Today is going to be a long day. I did not sleep well last night at all. I just got here & cannot wait for 9PM to get here.

How was your Christmas? Your New Year's Eve? Our New Year's Eve was just a quiet one at home - we are not party types.

Hi Everyone - thought I would get this started early. I am going to give this a couple more weeks and if I am still the only one replying - I give up. I realize I slipped a while back. But, I am trying. There has been no repsonse to wither challenge or to the chat since before Christmas. It is hard to know what to post activity or article-wise if no one is replying. Sorry I have been such a failure at this so far.
