I have never taken cinnamon supplements but I do sprinkle ground cinnamon on my gluten-free oatmeal in the morning at breakfast. Sometimes when I eat applesauce I sprinkle cinnamon on that also. I really do not know anything about cinnamon supplements.
I do know that ground cinnamon helps lower my blood sugar or at least it seems to.
I use cinnammon supplements when I do not use cinnamon in my food. I also noticed that when I do not use the supplements my BS does go up about ten points. I have used the supplement since a month after becoming a diabetic in 2010. My Dr is a supporter of it. I take 1,000mg three times a day with my meals unless my food has cinnamon in it. It seems to work for me, Love and Light Carol
I started to take Cinnamon capsule every night with my nighttime meds. Did it for about 18 months. Didn't really notice any great improvement...but my Blood Glucose is in tight control. I stopped taking them, and noticed that my morning FBG seemed to be a few points higher. So I started taking cinnamon again after about 8 months. And my averages of just my FBG, are running low 90's...compared with the 8 months without the cinnamon, of FBG averages in the high 90's. So I think, for me they work. Not a huge difference...but a wee bit better on the cinnamon.
Doesn't hurt to give them a try. But don't expect a vast difference.

I've tried them, but I can't say how well they work. I have read from people who have used them and had them work well and others who said they didn't work at all. I think it is a YMMV thing. Of course, most of diabetes is.
