FIRECOM (Frank): Congratulations! Way to go! You are so right to be cautious of the pronouncement that you are diabetes free, as am I cautious of that when my own Dr. said that. If we are lax, it will come back and this a fact! No slip sliding' for me either! HEE HEE Love that song as well.
Betsy: Good luck. I found that removing the "whites" from my diet really helped my body bet better, because I didn't have that constant state of "HUNGRY . . . EAT!" as the blood sugar would crash yet again from the load of carbs! good luck to you. I know it really helped me.

to both of you... my A1c stayed 11-12 for years... i finally changed doctors learned alot of new stuff.. things i was doing wrong and it dropped to 9.2 i am down to 7.6 last two times... this next one should be lower... another doctor took me off all whites bread.. rice... potato and pasta... the doc says that any improvement is good... doing it with diet alone is great... try to keep it that way...

Your excitement and enthusiasm is wonderful and well deserved. I have felt those same emotions. At my worst, my A1c was over 12 and my weight over 335 lb.
Now, with full credit to SP, our members and plain good old fashiond hard work on my part, I am down to 166 lb with an A1c of 5.4.
The realy great news from me is that as of last Monday, my endo has taken me off insulin (not more meds) and told me that I am diebetic free. Now you and I know that diabetes cnnot be cured so I call tihs a state of remission. It can come roaring back if I fall into the old habits. I will go out of a limb and tell you and anyone who will listen that I will not fall victim of the great song, SLIP SLIDING AWAY. No more.
I am very happy for you. You are on the way to real success and better health.

I am totally stoked!!! In April, my A1c was 9.0%+. I just found out that through diet ALONE (cuz finances have been so bad that I couldn't afford my meds, testing supplies etc...), my A1c has dropped to 7.4%...as of Aug 22. The goal for people with diabetes is a hemoglobin A1c less than 7%. A low carb, vegetarian diet works like nobody's business!!! Haha! PRAISE GOD!!!!!!
When you're down and discouraged, NOTHING motivates ya to keep going like seeing your efforts start to pay off...in one way or another!!!
