NASFKAB,

Thank you about the insulin, I am greatly encouraged by the insulin drop. Just dropped it again yesterday. I was at 60 units am & 60 Pm four weeks ago and now I am at 45 am & 40pm. Also I take a short acting insulin before meals three times a day when sugars are over 100. I have been able to nock off at least one shot per day and now for two days I have not had to take any. Whoo Hoo I think that is as good as the weight loss. It is amazing how much a change in eating can make such a difference in you meds.

Jersygrl & Nasfkab & Jackie you are so right..Just do it. This week I have learned how to let go of goals that I set that are not the point to what I am doing this all for. So now the goal is get up and move, if it is a walk or more let the number go and just do it. Loved my walk last night and today I blew the roof off walking so I am slow but sure, me and turtle! Started my day at BS 91 and I havn't gotten over 107 all day. I only had to take my short acting insulin once today out of three a day. Lovin it all, ya'll are so good to me!

Susan we all have good days and then there are those "other" days. Nothing to do but forget the "other" day and jump right back onto the walk plan the next day. I find my problem to be in the thinking about the exercise. Nike's right - Just Do It!!

Thanks guys I had a really bad day yesterday and I did not walk and could have kicked myself when I went to bed. We had some bad news and it threw me off yesterday. At least I did not eat badly to make up for it, and today is a new day and I will try to get two walks in today to bring me back to the place I was yesterday. I still have 5 days more to drop some weight and get some walking in before my weigh in on Monday. I just have been frustrated over the recipe tool. I will not give up I will spend some time on it today to try to figure it out better. Have a good day all.

Thanks guys. I am starting to like this walking thing. Usually I don't but I have been enjoying getting out and seeing my neighborhood. I love to look at all the things people do with their yards and homes. I love going out after dark now when it is not so hot and enjoying the night air. Me and my son's dog hit the pavement tonight and it was almost a flight keeping that dog in control. But doing that I forgot about all my aches and pains. I just kept thinking, I can do this. Day 6 one step more a day! Thanks for all the encouragement!

Thank you Ioeinc,

I didn't have time to get my new walking shoes set up but I did get my new croc's (pretty blue & sporty) on and slowly trotted around my quiet little suburb neighborhood, just me and my walking stick. Sun shining but not too much and a nice not too warm day. Every step after about 10 hurt but I took stop and go's along the way. This time going up the hill instead of avoiding it and then I enjoyed it being downhill on the way back home. I always hurt when I walk because of the weight strain on my thigh joints, but when I get done I am glad I did it. My legs feel like one of those "they weeble they wabble but they don't fall down"....no maybe that is they weeble they wabble but they don't get up? Hmm I think I fit the second one better lol. Anyway totally met my goal for the day alreaady and I still have hours of moving around my house to go, so look out neighborhood here I come again tomorrow. O and a ps.. I passed a couple of neighbors I did not know and one loved my walking stick (not a cain) and the other my shoes! Ha it was a good day! Sue

I think you have had really good advice for getting started. Starting out slow and adding time each day really does work and Jerzygirl gave you very good advice to break it up into segments. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. I too love this site and believe that if I didn't have it I wouldn't have stuck with my goals.

I believe it too. I am a sparker for life such a great site. I am following the diet 99% still working on eating leaner. My BS has come right down to normal numbers and even lower, so I have had to cut back on the Insulin which is great. I have already in just two weeks dropped my long acting insulin 20 units and my short acting before meals almost to not needing them. I went in to doc for girl problems yesterday and they were shocked at how well my Blood pressure was. I told them it is Spark, I am sure God led me to Spark and now I will sing it's praises when ever possible. I think all docs should have this web address on all their paperwork. I weigh in on Monday and I hope the work shows but if it does not all the rest of my body knows it is showing inside.

Yes I think you are right, I need to do more of my steps earlier in the day so I am not caught of gaurd in the evening. I even bought me some walking shoes the other day, I have not put them on yet because I have not had any type of shoe like that for years and years. My diabetes has taken most of my feeling away in my feet and so I cannot tell if a pair of shoes is fitting correctly until I damage my feet from them being too tight. I was covered with blisters once for doing that with a pair of boots. But I think I may have found the shoe that will work and I am excited to get them on and go for a trot! You are doing all the right things for all the right reasons. May I also suggest that you might want to try to start with your 10 minutes in the morning and a second 10 minutes later in the day if you can. Most important is to push yourself without overdoing. I started the same way many years ago, but I didn't have any health issues. You can do this. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Take baby steps. Try 10 minutes a day, for a week to you can do it feeling comfortable, Then we you can do that increase to 15 minutes etc to you reach the goal you want to set. Love and light Carol

Thanks Mojo & BPPP, I know at first it is alot but looking at you guys and your losses I am so encouraged. My biggest reason for losing is to get my health good again. I don't want to spend one more day at the ER or Hospital. I refuse to let myself fall apart. Bppp I can't believe you do pilatte's. Wow that is really doing good. I do not know too much about them other than they are very physical and hard..Now if I can just get my step calculator to start working again I am off for a busy day! Kisses all!! Susan

You can do it. I am now up to 50-60 minutes of walking on the treadmill at a time. It took a while to get there. Just give it time.

Okay today I am on second day of adding a step counter to my list and wow I can't believe I am so low conpared to the daily goal. But my goal is to do one more step than the day before. So If I will get used to moving more and more but gradually. If I have a very active day that will jump me up fast enough and I will have to keep up with that. So if I am having a lazy day per say I still will have to fit taking steps in (walking) to keep up with my own goal.

The pulmonary rehab people said I wil start out with 45 min of walking on the machine. LOL I thought are you crazy 10 min of continual walking for me wipes me out. So I really have a way to go.
