I too power walk with Leslie Sansonne DVD "Walk away the pounds". I can keep my FBS down if I exercise in the evening, I know I miss TV but for me there is not very much to miss.
Strength training with resistance bands builds muscle and muscle burns calories and tones the muscles too so you can look thinner without losing weight. I know that for sure I am still stuck on a plateau but I know I had to buy new jeans and smaller underwear so try not to go by the scale,
I always do my small night time snack right after my walk and it helps with my Dawn phenonemon,.
I am so glad you were able to get the diabetes testing. Almost all if these companies have websites. My accucheck site is open 24/7 so any time I have questions I can go to them Perhaps if you call the American Diabetes Association or go to their website they can send you publications from the NIH,
It was my understanding that once Diabetes is diagnosed by a physician the person should be given the diabetes education most insurances pay but alas not all do. It does depend on the states too.
If I did not have it I would call the hospitals in your area and ask about education. When you call you can ask for their education department if they have one ours do. We have round table discussions and some support groups too.
Some times you have to look for these things. Try not to say you do not have access to them till you have tried to find them in your area.
Diabetes education for diabetics is an essential part of the diagnosis. Get on to your Drs or Endos to help you with this important information.
If I did not have access i would be calling our State health offices to find out about how you can be educated and where in your area. Hope any of this helps it is such a great help to know about your condition especially since WE are expected to manage it on our own.
