It's harder to get anything from my forearm than from my fingers, so those "alternative site" meters are useless to me... even the phlebotomists around here have problems drawing blood!

The thing is...
...the only time I have trouble with getting enough for my one-touch is when my neuropathy is acting up. My hands go numb--if there's no blood in your fingertips, it doesn't matter what meter or lancet device you're using! LOL

But I know all the tricks, and I manage. Six times a day or more... emoticon

Thanks! I will check that out. You are right, the one touch does require more of a blood drop which is difficult at times.

a little behind in some mail... but i did not forget you...
i use to use the one touch products for about 18yrs. but got so i was having difficulty drawing enough blood for the test... about a year ago i changed to freestyle lite... and recently i purchased a seccond meter one for work and one for home.... the one i use at home has an alarm [freestyle freedom lite] to remind me to take my bs again... its very similar to the one touch ultra....
i got my first meter free.. but paid for the freestyle freedom lite at walgreens for less than 20$

good luck

I agree, it would be a great feature. My doc gave me a meter that does have an icon of a half eaten apple. It starts to flash at the 2 hour point (if set up correctly) but flasing only works if one is lookiing at it, it doesn't help if you are in the laundry room or somewhere other than right where the meter is......

It WOULD be a neat thing to have as part of your meter setup... I use my cell phone, I can set as many permanent alarms as I want, and since I eat at the same times every day (should be the same for any diabetic, it's really helpful) I gave myself 10 minutes to pull over or whatever and test first... and I eat every three hours, so testing before the next "mini-meal" covers my post-prandial readings for my doctor's purposes...

My accucheck meter has a lot of features, I just do not use them I set the reminder on the microwave.
If you go to the accucheck site you can look at what they have.I have found their people to be very helpful, hope you can find it.

Mine is an Accucheck-Aviva and I have a wireless reader to down load and fornt my numbers to take to the DRs. office she loves to see them.Pat in Maine.

I really like my One Touch Ultra Smart because of all the tracking features but here is something I'd really like my meter to do...

I want a blood sugar meeting that after taking your pre meal number you can push a button and have an alarm that reminds you to do a post meal check at the appropriate time. Yes, I know I can use my cellphone, oven timer, etc... But wouldn't it be a great feature for a meter?
