Used the Glucerna Hunger Shakes over the past three weeks as breakfast while driving to early doctors appointments and 7am surgeries. Worked great and held me over for lunch. the Bars though I have not tried yet but, do intend to do so.

I have only tried the bars and they were introduced to me by my nutritionist. I guess if you are willing to give up carbs for something that is not that satisfying is the question.
Thanks everyone, Coach Tanya I have found the new stuff out and try the chocolate shake is alittle better but not the bars yet. They are affordable, I will still get fresh veggies and fruit just these items are good for quick breakfast or snacks.

I don't like anything resembling a milkshake. Yuck. As a child, I wouldn't even eat ice cream--I'd stir it around in the bowl until it melted, and then pour it down the sink. LOL My dad would get SO upset with me, "wasting" food like that!... hm...
As for the bars... I don't like granola bars, protein bars, any of that stuff, anyway--with or without the diabetes, or weight issues, I wouldn't eat them. Just not for me and my tastebuds...
I too much prefer the taste and texture of fresh foods, and do cook most of my own meals...

I am not impressed with those items. I'd rather make my own shakes and foods.

I have to be extremely careful with supplements. I think they have a place in a plan, but personally I must watch the ingredients. For example, I can tolerate the boost glucose control, although not specifically for diabetics the ensure will upset my stomach. I believe I looked at the glucernna, but it had alcohol sugar in it. That, I found, really shoots my sugar up. We are all different, so it is a matter of personal preference.

I never use those kinds of things. Me too nothing from a box or can and no kinds of sugar water either. i love fruits and vegetables and I cook almost every meal. I love to cook and play with food. Too many recipes call for way too much sugar . I replace it with cooked bananas for baking and bananas are full of nutrients, Way to go for me. I do find the health bars way too expensive for our retired lifestyle anyway. I like to eat at a leisurly pace and savour every bite,HUGS Pat in Maine.

My dietician recommended the bars to me as a snack and gave me samples. I haven't tried them or the shakes so it would be nice to know if they are any good. .

The big benefit to Glucerna compared to other fitness or meal replacement shakes is the absence of a sharp spike in BS. They are designed that way. They were recommended for my Dad as a "snack" but at ca 300 calories that's more like a meal.
As an occasional item, I find them ok but I prefer whole foods, nothing out of a box or a can,
Cheers, Catherine

I use it OCCASIONALLY. I do not make a steady habit of it, though. As long as it's built into my calories for the day, it's alright. It does not make my blood sugar whacky, so IF I am going to use a shake, that's my choice.

Glucerna is the sponsor of our Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge Team. This blog will provide a little information about it.
Sometimes dietitians are leary of shakes and bars because they replace foods that are rich in key nutrients. There is a place for them in a well balanced diet usually.

Don't know if this is the right forum or it's come up alot here but anyone every tried any of the Glucerna products? I like some of it like the shakes, but guess my real question is to this has any one been told by the dietitian no. Mine kind of turn her nose up at the suggestion of them. Maybe not a healthy thing or what? i don't buy it all the time but occasionally when i need a quick of breakfast on weekends and can afford. Any advice here?
