me too i count carbs like a religion for sure as for calories i have a hard time getting the 1200-1600 i'm supoosed to get with the diabetes and the kidney diets and low sodium and low potassium and low phosphorous and low protein..i doubt if grass is even on the menu and the things i miss most are milk and oatmeal and those walnuts that i could always depend on 400 calories for everyday
such is life

if they take one thing out they add more of something else . some of that other is not what you want to eat much of . .give up some fat and you gain a lot of sugar . so you can not fill up on any of it .

I use single serving nut packs or trail mix packs from Trader Joe's - portion is snack size and they really keep me "full" until my scheduled meal. They are easy to carry with me when I am out and about.

I have the Fiber One 90 calorie chewy peanut butter/chocolate bars when I am craving sweets desperately. Carb count is low and it does fill me up. Most of the time I eat a lite yogurt or a carbmaster yogurt from Kroger - only 3 grams of carbs and 80 calories.

Y'know, sometimes I need to take my time chewing to get the satisfaction... it gives my body time to get that brain chemistry to trigger satiety. Those are the times soft stuff doesn't hack it for me! LOL

Try raw veggies like carrots and celery, and dip them into that tuna or egg salad instead of the peanut butter... mmm!

You can also make popcorn and sprinkle it with parmesan...

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called

LOL I was going to say eggs too. or tuna salad. protein fills you esp if you have a little bit of fat with it.

I can only eat the crackers when my blood sugar is doing well. I have to count them even then and I do better when they are a whole grain.

I love eggs, string cheese, or nut butters.

You might check out the South Beach Diet. It works well for me.

Basically think about Complex carbs, veggies and protein.

Sorry I messed up that post - I made devilled eggs. Even 1/2 is a good treat and seems to fill the void.

I like string cheese with a few whole grain crackers.

Apples and peanut butter or cheese work well for me too.

Occasionally cottage cheese and fruit.

In the evening I love to have slow churn ice cream and 15 almonds.

you could add some protein with your fruit. Choose a fruit that has a low glycemic number maybe an apple with a few nuts, or unsweetened applesauce with low fat cottage cheese, or low fat string cheese with strawberries emoticon

Any hints would be greatly appreciated. I have tried veggies and fruit (sugars start getting high in fruits to fill full) but neither is very filling (or maybe not satisfying) - any hints that are not too time consuming to make? Thanks to all my new SP friends!
