Going out for my anniversary dinner tonight with my boyfriend :D My blood sugar was 6.9 before lunch and will check blood before dinner and will do my insulin also so. Keep you all posted what I had for dinner and how it goes and what my blood sugar is after dinner before bed ok :D

I see my DT at the beginning of March so will talk to them about it then. I am sure everything is fine but if they have any issues with my blood sugars or my insulin dosages they will let me know I am sure :D

My VerioIQ meter does give me my blood sugar reading and a 7 day and 30 day and 90 day A1C so I know and I like that. But bolus insulin dosages are just insulin and then I take apidra fast acting insulin before meals also.

Lastnights blood sugar before bed was 7,4/133.2 so I gave myself 30 units of bolus insulin before bed where I normally give myself more so I think 5.4/133 is a good number to wake up with this morning keep you posted how the rest of the day goes.

I don't know who may use the website PINTEREST on here. But you can get any recipe on there for any plan. It's my go to for Raw. And clean eating recipes. But you can get all of them on there, including mediterranean and paleo, and South Beach just some of the ones I know of. Even Fuhrmans Eat to Live recipes.

Thank You for all the info you guys and will defently for sure check it out :D Thank You
The first step for clean eating I will do is check out any challenges on Sparkpeople and see if theres any groups on here I can join and go from there thank you. I think clean eating is good for a diabetic so not gonna worry about and just eat my fruits and veggies and not yet do a raw diet but start slowly with it and when I do start ill talk to my dr about it :D

Look for Tosca Reno's books on the eat-clean diet. She is the one that introduced me to how to begin. Also a member of the eat clean team here. She also has a website. www.toscareno.com/
As far as raw eating, you do need to make sure you let your Physician know mainly because your on medication and insulin. I never was, so I could just dive into it. Actually any plan that you may be partnering with a nutritionist with should advise as to whether you should or not. I haven't partaken in any of the challenges. I probably should, will have to see.

And I can see that it is a little tougher when there is someone else at home as well. But in order to support the one that is affected by D2 I would hope they would try to comply. Good luck with that.

My diet is just whole foods. Nothing special. I do like recipes from the South Beach Diet Cook Book. I always modify recipes, though to suit me.

I am not part of any clean eating challenges but it could be helpful starting out!

Thanks you guys for the advice and input and etc :D Nice to know. I don't eat nearly enough vegitables as I should and would like to try to the raw food diet sometime. Best for diabetics I agree. And as for clean eating I would love to do that but I live with someone who wont stop stuff coming into the house with a ingredients list you know? I can try to bring the clean eating stuff into the house on my own.
What do you guys think would be the first step to do clean eating and raw food diet?
Do you guys do any of the clean diet challenges on Sparkpeople?

Tuesday – Another cold day in Paradise. Hope you are all staying warm. At least no precip this time. But we are supposed to get snow Tues. night thru Friday. UGH But on the hand, not supposed to be a lot. So, for that I am grateful.

Waiting patiently (well, maybe not so much) for Spring!

MJ: Yes! I do clean eating too. Feel so much better for it. Haven’t tried raw, but heading that way.

FBS 75 @ 5 am. My diagnostic FBS initially 2as 313! OMG And my A1C 12 or 13. Totally unhealthy! Turned it around with diet, exercise, medication, monitoring food and blood sugar to find out what worked, or not. Took time, but well worth it.

Clean eating mainly means no processed. Anything with the ingredient listing hydrogenated was not allowed in my house, still isn't. But now It's mainly poultry, fish, greens, all vegetables except corn (GMO) I try to stay with mostly organic, but sometimes have to give the regular veges and fruits a vinegar soak. I ate 4 fruits a day, mostly berries. But threw a banana into my green smoothie (Nutri Blast) to sweeten it and give me more potassium. I ate more grains and legumes as well, reason why my carbs were at 120. Now I limit it to 1 cup a day of either oats or legumes, so I can keep my carbs lower than 50. I eat seeds and nuts, occasional dairy, my organic half and half for my Sunday coffee, yes I limit it to 1 cup a week, makes it become a special treat! I eat a raw salad everyday, and have at least 8 oz of poultry or fish, with my lunch and dinner. I don't crave snacks and sweets anymore. And no need to reward with a nibble of this or that. Doesn't work for me, it opens the gate for a binge, and that is a thing of the past.
Raw is just that, no cooked food. Just vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds. No meat. I take a Vegan vitamin. I use PINTEREST for raw food recipes. It's amazing what you can do with raw food to make it a joy to eat. I have a favorite taco salad, which I make with cashew nuts (meat) I have blogs with recipes for raw. I did it for 30 days last November, and I want to try 60 days this March/April. I make my own hummus and butters, no additives like in the market.

You wouldn't believe what raw does for diabetics. I viewed the DVD "Simply Raw reversing Diebetes in 30 days" That made me try the raw for 30 days last November. Had my tests in December, and WOW brilliant numbers. It's not easy to do, you really have to want to do it. And you do need to take your caretaker (Doctor) as a partner. My Doctor knows me too well. I will fight to not have to take medication for D2.

Actually my 30 day raw was mid Oct - Nov. I enjoyed the Holidays (too much) and did my 10 day detox and had my blood tests then. This year, the Holidays will be just for the company not for the food.

Your A1Cs sound great and all is good. Glad your Drs keep track of that.

see what that has done for you? wtg and loosing 46 pounds wow.

Please keep us posted on what your A1C is in June ok? And keep us posted on how raw food goes in March and April ok?

When you are doing Clean eating what do you mean? And when your going to do raw what will that involve? What will you do?

I was diagnosed as a diabetic because my blood work showed 275 glucose, didn't know what my A1C was, because 3 months later my glucose was at 153, and the A1C was 8.5. I shudder to think what the initial one was. 6 months later and 46 lbs down, my glucose was 115 and A1C was 6.5 I did this all with clean eating and carbs were still at 120. Plus walking every day. Now I am doing low carb, and can see an even bigger difference in all things, energy, clear mind etc. I will be doing another test probably in June or earlier, and plan to stay with low carb most of the time. I will be doing raw March and April.

MJLUVSANIMALS I was put on insulin because my blood sugars weren't where they should be and my pancreas and kidneys were still in trouble so I had to be put on insulin, Its been fine ever since.

Sounds like your not a full blown diabetic MJLUVSANIMALS so you don't have to worry. But yes keep care of yourself still ok? We are here if you want to chat ok :D

Why were you put on insulin when you were eating healthy and exercising? That is what I am not understanding about diabetes. Since I was diagnosed I have been clean eating and walking everyday, up to 3 miles a day. My Doctor said the meter wasn't necessary with my not being on medication or insulin. He said at this point according to my numbers, he wouldn't be diagnosing me with diabetes. Over the Holidays, I ate some things not uncontrollably because I know it's not for me anymore but it doesn't take much for those blood sugars to increase. So this year I opted for the fact that none of that will be in my future. I am working hard to rid myself of this disease. I know it will always be there lurking. So now it's just adjusting to a life style that is best for me, and it will have to be for the rest of my life. I think excessive exercise is not any healthier than excessive eating. Most Doctors will tell their patients that walking is the best form of exercise, and getting up off the couch or computer chair and taking a stroll is what we all need. The key is to move!

Hello MJLUVSANIMALS I was diagnosed back in 2000 with diabetes and changed my lifestyle with eating healthy and exercise :D I lost 20 pounds cause of it and once I found Sparkpeople :D nothing could stop me then it has helped me out so much. I was told by my Dr to go on medication for my diabetes and etc and it has helped so much I honestly don't think I would be alive today if I didn't take my meds along with eating healthy and exercising and then 2 years ago I was put on insulin and it has changed my life and feel so much better and has changed a lot. I don't wake up with high blood sugars in the morning or experience highs during the day. Either then that that's about it. My form of exercise I love for being a diabetic and etc is walking I love it keeps my weight down and where it should be. And its not stressful on my joints as running and etc you know?

And as far as the blood sugar meter I believe its good for a diabetic to have one cause it gives you a idea of where your at with your sugars all the time and you can base a lot of things on what your sugars are. Especially with me being on insulin my blood sugars determine how much insulin to give myself. And my medication helps my blood sugars everyday.

FBS was 3.8/68.4 this morning and gave myself dosage of 80 bolus bedtime insulin lastnight cause my sugar was 12.2/219 what do you guys think? any suggestions to change what I am doing or does it look all good?

Are the most of you, on medication? Reason for the blood glucose counts? With my diet (low carb) and exercise, my Dr. never issued me a blood glucose counter. I just go in every 3 to 6 months to see how the numbers are. How long have the most of you had this disease? I have decided to join and see how others are doing. So far I have seen that low carb has been the best for keeping it away. No counter needed here. And I refused to take the medication.
