Going camping. The camp sight celebrates Halloween this weekend. There are games at the pool and a costume contest for the children. Trick or treat and a haunted trail after dark. Then a DJ on the beach. Healthy snacks and long walks. Have a good week end every one

I'll be sticking with my regular eating plan and using my food journal most of the weekend. Saturday I'll be following my regular eating and exercise plan. Sunday night thru lunch Monday I'll be eating off plan but in moderation. We're doing two cookouts, Sunday dinner and Monday lunch. I plan to enjoy both but eat in moderation.
I'll get some cardio in Sunday morning and take Monday as my rest day since I won't have time to fit in exercise.
I can't believe the summer is over , there was so much I wanted to do, and could not find the time or money, LOL, to do it with!! So, this weekend is and has always been a big weekend in my family!! Between August 25th up to September 5th we have 7 birthdays to celebrate, and that is in my immediate family!!
This weekend we are all going down the shore, Sea Isle City, NJ, my son has a camper right outside of there, and I don't know how we do it but we manage to find sleeping room for everyone and we just have a great time being together!!
Food choices shouldn't be so hard for me, since I have the Type 2 Diabetes, I know what I am allowed to eat, what is good for me and what is a complete no-no. I plan on bringing plenty of fruit, veggies, hummus, and Special K Cracker Chips for dipping. We always eat well, chicken, steak, extra lean ground beef, and of course hot dogs for the kids. Okay, maybe I will have a sliver of birthday cake, but I will exercise plenty to get my blood sugar down after that, LOL!!! I will get plenty of exercise swimming, walking, playing with my grandkids, and walking along the beach early in the morning!!

We're having my son, DIL, and her family for dinner tomorrow. I'm making brisket, potato salad with fat-free Miracle whip. I have a watermelon and cantaloupe too. I will probably have a veggie tray too.
Looking forward to the long weekend and some time to relax. Saturday morning is Farmer's market (with lots of walking), Saturday afternoon is tubing on the Racoon River...relaxing and enjoying the sun (I hope...chance of rain). Simple supper at home. Sunday's are always busy and usually end up eating out for lunch and just having a light snack for supper. Monday is potluck with the family which will be the toughest. I wont measure, but will "eyeball" portions and try to make good choices and track as best I can. Hoping to get in a walk around the lake as well.

My weekend is going to be a normal everyday type weekend. Work schedules and such will keep us from doing anything. The upside to that, it will be easier to not be derailed. :)

No, I can't believe August is gone, but I'm soooo looking forward to Fall. I'm thankful for a long weekend and a break from work. We are planning a balance of fun, activity, with relaxation and time together.
Of course we love to eat too, and we have a plan for simple foods that won't be time consuming. We will grill mostly and enjoy steak, cedar planked salmon and scallops, and grilled chicken, with extra for the week ahead. We have a nice variety of veggies on hand between greens, asparagus, corn, carrots, onions and squash. We may even indulge in an ice cream cone for a treat.
I look forward to am walks in cooler weather and spending time together. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Can you believe that August is over? I sure can't, it feels like it was only last week that we welcomed the month in! So my question to you is, what do you do this long weekend? Have you planned your eating, how to avoid difficulties at the BBQ, picnics and other gatherings that seem to center around food?
There certainly is nothing wrong with going to a picnic and enjoying some of your long time favorite things; life is, after all, about moderation and balance. But are you planning on keeping track of what you eat, measuring it, or just enjoying and get back to your plan after the weekend?
I ask all this because I think it is important that we plan our days as best we can on this journey. That does not mean there is only one way to make your plan, you can be the person who brings your own measuring cups and spoons so you can accurately record your potato salad or fresh cut vegetables; or you can be the person that has decided this is the weekend to reward all your work and just enjoy it and get back to the measuring and weighing on Tuesday. The point here is to make that plan, so that no matter how you approach the weekend, there are no guilty feelings Monday night and certainly no beating up on yourself because you didn't plan or feel prepared.
Now don't forget that those games of baseball, beach volleyball, frisbee, playing catch with the kids, or long walks in the park all add up to exercise...yes even if you are having fun!! So don't get mad because you didn't make it to the gym, pool or get your favorite video done...because the fun stuff counts!
So make a plan, enjoy the weekend however you choose to enjoy it and if I can make one suggestion...Enjoy the family and friends, let these times of gathering become more about the people and the relationships than the food.
