CARRIE - Congrats on getting your exercising in and staying in your ranges!! Keep up the good work!! Lived in MI most of my life (lots of heavy, wet snow) and then in N. Dakota for 4 years (50 below regular tempt with 95 below wind chills. A lot of the time it was too cold to snow!! Told my DH that if I saw 1 snow flake we were leaving for the south where it was warm/hot! We got about a cople of miles out of Fargo, ND heading west and I saw 2 snow flakes. We moved down here to the Rio Grande Valley. Love it down here!!!!

We had a high today of 59 - - way, way too cold for down here!! Come on summer!!! Heat is much better on the two sisters (osteo and rheumatoid arthritis) than the cold is!! No baking again today but did some running around town with my DH. Feels good to pretty much do nothing for a day or two, but I feel the oven calling my name within the next couple of days.

Have a great day everyone.

I had a wonderful day today. The weather was nice. I exercised for the first time in a week and it added up to over 60 minutes l. Also, I met my calorie ranges for four out of five meals. I hope that you all had a great day as well! Talk to you tomorrow and have a good night..

Hi Judy, the weather here in NY is going to be in the 30s and the 40s this week. The temperature is going to be about 50 on Christmas Eve which is great for me. Have a great weekend!

emoticon everyone!!! Another day down - no baking again today!! Got some cleaning and laundry done today. Misting quite a bit down here in the RGV. Tomorrow and Sunday are suppose to be cold - 65 degrees for us - - way too cold!!! DH and I were cold today as well even in the 70's.

PAM - I was there at your house (I thought anyway) and you evidently weren't home when I got there. Now I'll have to go to MX to get some Gabapentin for myself. Darn!!! Here I thought maybe we'd have a "Us" day together so stay home once in a while, will ya??? It's a long ways from the bottom tip of TX to your house!!

Well, I'm going to hit the sack soon so I'm cutting this one short. Get some sleep now everyone!! C U tomorrow, the good Lord willing!!

Good Evening team,

I have been slacking on my workouts and nutrition lately. So today I spent the day planning part of a workout to do tomorrow and the rest of the workout I'll figure out as I go. I want my workout to be at least 60 minutes warm up and cool down included. As far as my nutrition goes I already have a healthly breakfast planned and one of my nutritional goals is to drank a lot of water. Good bye for now I will try to come back soon.

Hi team,
Well today was a day of conversion. First I spoke with mom about the stress in the house and got her take on things. Then I took John out to lunch and had a very long conversation with him. I let him know that Shawn was invited but John just showed up. From the time he got there he just took over without a word. Shawn and Mom already had everything worked out and now the house is filled with stress and tension and it has to stop. We talked about all the issues. I told him he needed to back off. He has no business repeating things about Shawn with anybody including me. If mom wants me to know something she will tell me. He gave me excuses and I just stuck to its not his business. He says but he came out and told everybody xxx. That's fine he can tell anybody anything. It's his right. You have no right to repeat his business. There is very little going on in moms house that I don't know about. I didn't accept anything he said. I said things need changing. He comes back with and I'm going to have to do 90% of the changing. I told him yes. We were told that while he was visiting the facility where he was at closed down. That the he had a place to move into and while he was down here they rejected him. I don't believe any of it. I believe that he got kicked out because of his hygiene. The only reason I haven't kicked him out already is because mom enjoys talking with him. He is company for her that is close to her age, but on the other hand she is dealing with being told what to do in her own home and picking up after him. It's hard to know what to do. If his hygiene gets bad again then he has to go. Well the next person I spoke to was Shawn so that he knew that I took him seriously and that I was taking action. I'm just waiting for John to give me a good reason to get rid of him. If he ticks off my DH then he will take care of it for me. I secretly wish that that is what will happen because I really hate being the bad guy. I hated doing what I did today. Other than that the day was just great. I actually did some exercing today. A whole half hour. Pretty good considering what a funk I've been in.

JUDY, I'm on Gabapentin also. I can give you some. Come on out to California, I'm the second house on the right. I didn't know how expensive they are. I'm so glad you are taking the time off of the kitchen. I've been trying to take one day a week just for me. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. The weather has been icky here too.

INITFORLIFE, So sorry you missed your pictures. Maybe you can take some soon and post it to our main page. I would love to see your point of view.

SUCCESS, Glad you had a great day, but doesn't the mammogram negate the great in day? I hate those things.

I got up in time to drive 20 minutes to my favorite photography spot for sunrise - only to discover I'd forgotten to put the memory card back in the camera! Went home to get it thinking, "It's cloudy - I can still get in a few shots." Needless to say, by the time I got home the light mist had become rain. emoticon

So, I took a walk and ran some errands to get in my 10,000 steps. It will stop raining long enough to take pictures at some point. (Although all day it was just a uniform gray everywhere you looked. The only way to tell the water from the sky, was that it reflected.)

Not a great day - but I met all my fitness goals and got in some other stuff too.

Everyone have a great evening!

Well, it's been 2 days now and no baking for me yet!!! I am going to try to finish up my baking by Monday so I can get rid of all the extra "goodie presents" out of my house. The neighbors should be happy campers!!!! My DH and I cleaned the kitchen and have that back in order - just don't let anyone look in my pantry!!! All those goodies had to be stored somewhere!!

PAM - Yes, I think I have to agree with you and my "oven" needed a "me day" also. I know I needed one and maybe another day as well!!! You "honey" looks like he'd be a cuddly teddy bear!!! PLEASE don't let the depression get too deep by waiting too long!! I've been there and done that and it's not a pretty OR healthy thing to do or place to be at!! I'm sure all the snacking on "crap" all night long is your comfort food. I, too, think that 3 months with "John" is too long!! Adult diapers today but what about tomorrow - - or will he even change them regularly and place them in a garbage bag or even take a bath?

Well, I think maybe its time I set up a dr's appointment for myself. My DH and I were doing a little bit of shopping at Lowe's for stain etc (he's making himself a headboard for his bed) and I started having sharp stabbing pains at the top of my head. I know the headaches have been more prominent the past few days as well. I'm also out of my Gabapentin for my fibromyalgia but I'm in the "donut hole" and they are about $200 otherwise. Can't wait for January to get here. I just might have to go to MX to see how much they are over there.

Well, it's been misting here all day - just enough to make it nasty out. I think I'm going to finish up here and then maybe go to bed for the night with a nice muscle relaxer. Have a great evening everyone!!

Hi team,
Nobody posts for days and then I take a day off and the whole team posts. emoticon Isn't that always the way.

I went over to moms to tell her what I want to say but John and her are joined at the hip and I couldn't get her alone. I finally called her on the phone to discuss what I wanted to say. She said "do what you got to do. Just bring your honey". She was concerned that he might get angry and we both know that no one crosses my husband and gets away with it. I was especially angry because I had told him that my DH was going to the VA hospital and he should give him a call so he could go with him to see a doctor about his issue. He never called. I started the conversion with that. I told him he was making his problem every bodies problem and I wasn't having it. I was actually mistaken and my DH was going the next day and he could still go. Either way the next time I see a wet spot on his pants he's out of here. He says he doesn't know what to tell them. After much banter back and forth I wrote it down. Funny thing he has adult diapers today. Why do I need to get mean? So unnecessary. If he hadn't done so much for my sister over the last twenty years of her life I wouldn't be so forgiving. My patience is thin and he can't ride on what he did forever. He is causing issues with Shawn and John is being very passive aggressive and my mom isn't seeing it. Future sagas to insue later.

My diet has been doing ok. I really blew it yesterday. I snacked on crap all night long. I did good today but I reserve judgement until I make it through the night. My exercise is still in a slump. I know I'm suffering from depression and I haven't contacted my psych yet. Not good.

1TOBFIT. It's great news that they figured out what is wrong. You can start movin' and groovin'

SUCCESS, Glad you had such a great day and I look forward to tomorrows report.

NANCY, Congratulations on your success!!

DEBBIE, emoticon emoticon On your weight loss!!

INITFORLIFE, I love hearing about your success. Each step forward is great!!

RACHEL, You sure have had a busy life lately. As a matter of fact you are always busy. Your just a tad busier than normal. Most of us are this time of year.

JUDY, It's about time you take a day off of baking, after all I'm sure your oven needs a me day too. Actually John does take his meds, but before he showed up on moms door step he was n an assisted living place. They shut the place down and just showed up. He never looked for another place. I can understand why. I wouldn't want to leave such a cushy place to live either but it's been three months and I think after Christmas I'm going to start looking for him.

Well, I dropped off a big platter of home made cookies, bars, chocolate covered nuts, and muffins as well as a little bit of bought candy as well for color. We can now sit down at our kitchen table without having to look at all kinds of goodies staring us in the face!!!

I've been getting out of breath quite a bit while walking around our park 2-3 times a day (1 mile each time), cold sweats along with very cool skin to the touch. Headaches and very tired also. I think maybe I might be having a good old fashioned sinus infection brewing. Today I did absolutely NO BAKING!!! I do, however, have a few more things I want to bake up to go in with the the other stuff I've already made for a few neighbors - maybe tomorrow if I'm feeling better but more likely sometime this weekend and then get them delivered here in the park.

PAM - If things get any worse, you can also get a hold of people for the elderly in aging seeing as how the older gentleman isn't able to take care of himself or his own needs. He probably isn't taking his medications either. It sounds like it might be time for him to move in to an Adult Foster Care Home. It's something you might want to check into.

Well, I'm about ready to head for bed and get some sleep. I'll try to check back in with everyone tomorrow. Have a great evening everyone.

Just a quick check in, I know I have missed a lot of posts.
It is very busy at my house right now. Cooking, Cleaning, and Christmas Activities.
It is so busy it is 7am and I have not went to bed yet. I plan on laying down for a few hours after I get my kids off to school.
I need to wrap presents still, have lots of baking to do, I am reading my book to some kids at school tomorrow, Our Christmas play is Sat. and our church dinner is Sunday, I am going to my moms Friday eve and next week I plan to relax but will still be baking. I only have to go out one more time to shop to pick up a few groceries and stocking stuffers, going to do that on Sunday.
I am trying to eat without over indulging. Some days I do good others not so much.
Life is good though, I am enjoying most of the hustle and bustle.
Have a great day!

Hello everyone! Yes, its been incredibly busy for me in my neck of the woods. Getting ready for Christmas and all.

WOW Pam! I can see why you'd be frustrated! I got frustrated just reading it. It sounds like you've been patient and graceful (much more than I ) with this man. Some people take kindness for weakness and giving a helping hand UP is different than giving a hand OUT. Through the years, I've helped people try to get on their feet. I've noticed for some reason, some seem to get indignant if you tell them a time frame in which to get their $#%# together.
Some are genuine, some are just moochers and always a victim. From my experience.

In between my holiday business with family and friends I got into the doc to get some blood work done. It seems I am developing a sluggish thyroid. oddly, I'm a little "relieved" to know why I lose 4 lbs and gain 5, lose 4, gain 3 etc...its driving me freaking nuts ! Hopefully the medication I'm now taking will help me get my hormones in check..

Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy week ahead!

-Jackie-

Pam - I do t blame you for wanting to kick him out of your mom's house. We recently had problems with my nusband's step brother. He hadn't worked in over 8 years and his girlfriend kicked him out. He ended up at my MIL's house and then my BIL took him in and tried to help him get on his feet. It took 9 months but he is finally gone. We hired him to work I our rental property but we had to keep pushing him to get busy. He got a job as a maintenance man at an apartment complex and part of his pay is reduced rent on a apartment. He finally moved out last week or maybe two weeks ago. I understand they things get hard, and we all need help, but you also have to be willing to help yourself. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi Team,
Where is everybody? I think we need to reach out to some members to make sure they are ok? I guess that's my job. Oh well, yesterday was a me day. I was completely lazy. I stayed in bed all day and watched TV. This must be what a cat feels like. I am tired though. I haven't slept in two nights because my mind won't turn off. My mom has two men staying with her. My nephew Shawn. He is a grown man but is trying to make something of himself and going back to school. He is moms godson and she is supporting him in this decision. He trades his rent for cleaning her home and doing whatever needs doing around her home. Then there's John. He's 75 and just showed up on moms doorstep with no where else to go. He's a friend of the family and was my sisters significant other. John has medical issues and is incontinent. ever since he has been there the house smells like piss. I spoke with him once very gently and a second time more firmly threatening to kick him out. I have given him suggestions on how to take care of this and all he does is come up with excuses. He is a vet and can get supplies free or he can go to the store and buy them. It's been about two month and I still see fresh marks on his pants. He doesn't drink much water and doesn't take care of his diabetes and the smell is very strong. On top of that he wears the same clothes several days in a row. I was over there the day before yesterday and I made him change his clothes so that's three times I have spoken to him. I want to talk to mom and kick him out if I see one more stain on his pants. He has made his problem every bodies problem and I don't like my moms house smelling like this. It's to the point that I don't like visiting my mom because of the smell. I'm going to have the b?!?h and I don't like that. It's not part of my general makeup but I will be if I'm forced into it. I guess I'm just blowing off and I thank you all for putting up with me today.

Otherwise I'm off to a new start today. I've had chocolate cake in the house which has made my life extremely difficult. It went into the trash this morning. It's raining again but we need it and I like the sound of it and it makes the air smell so clean. We don't get a lot of rain so I guess I appreciate it when it comes. I'm changing TV/Internet/phone services today. We just changed less than 30 days ago but the Internet was so slow that I couldn't watch a 4 minute video without it stopping in the middle to buffer more data. I'm on the Internet to much to have that kind of download speed. I have high hopes for this package since it's the only one I haven't tried yet. They are a bigger company so hopefully it will workout better.

JUDY, I bet you won't want to bake again for a very long time. So sorry about your sleepless night. I know exactly what your talking about but when I do that I can't seem to take a nap either. I sometimes try but I just lay there. I'm so tired today and I had to get up so I would be up and dressed for these installation people. So glad you got your rest the next night. Your doing really good with walking those other members of your family. I'm sure they enjoy it too.

NANCY, I'm glad you finally got your TV issues resolved. I depend on my tv for both exercise (WII Fit) and entertainment so I would be really frustrated if it weren't working properly. Glad your almost finished with your shopping. I was out Saturday day to exchange a gift and it was a mad house out there. On the main rode on the peninsula that isn't a freeway I got stopped at every light (and there are a lot of them) because there were so many people out that not enough cars could get through before the light would turn red again. Then there was the parking lot, even the disabled spaces were full. I almost went right bake home except one space right next to the door was available. No more going out to any stores on the weekend until after Christmas for me. My DH and I always know what we are getting from each other. We tend to want very specific things and my DH shops for himself and never gives anyone a chance to buy anything for him. He has everything a person could want and is very hard to shop for. Over the years I have just given up.

We had a nice weekend. Saturday we had to wait for the tv repairman to show up. We bought a tv from Best Buy in October and having been having trouble for a while. I was on the phone with then for over an hour on Friday. Once the girl kept putting me I. Hold and after 30 minutes finally told me she was the wrong department! I called the store and asked for a manager. I was finally out right in touch with someone who understood my frustrations and arranged for repairs the next day. On Saturday no less! We were given the noon - 4:00 window but he showed up around 2. We had to return the tv to the store and get a new one. Luckily the new Tis are pretty light and easy to carry. While we were in town we finished up most of our Christmas shopping. I need to get some give cards and one ore gift for our daughter. We aren't doing much for each other this year, but I'm picking up a few things for my hubby tonight. Yesterday we spent the day relaxing. I made a pot roast for dinner and a pot of veggie soup with the leftovers, I now have no excuse not to pack lunch this week. I will have. Ore than enough soup to last all week!

Today was another busy day for me. I did a little laundry, swept floors, went for 2 walks (1 mile each) so far today and pretty soon we will be going for our 3rd walk - - 3 days in a row!!!!!!!!!! The 3rd walk seems to feel the best!! I also made approximately 800 chocolate covered nuts to go with the cookies, bars, and brownies for Christmas. Right now I don't care if I ever look at another chocolate covered nut!!!! Tomorrow will be brownie making time to put with all the other goodies for our 4 pastors (I'll just leave it at the church office for all of them) and a few of our neighbors. Last night we went to the Christmas cantata at church. It was a very nice evening. This morning was church and then our usual breakfast out at our favorite restaurant - Ham and Cheese omelette with egg beaters and bell peppers and salsa, wheat toast and tomatoes (Not bad for $10.28 for the two of us including coffee and taxes).

PAM - I know that it has to feel awful good to be able to share food with your family and neighbors. To me it is such a good feeling when I can do something like that for people. Looks like you had quite a good time with your mom - - making memories!!

I must confess, night before last I got to bed on time but come midnight I was still lying there in bed wide awake so I got up and did a little on the laptop and finally got tired about 4:30 A.M. and then up again at 7 A.M. I did, however, take a 1-1/2 hour nap the next morning after breakfast and our first walk with the dogs. Slept good last night, however.

Well, it's getting near that time already - last walk and then bedtime (my plan anyway). Hope everyone has a great evening and get plenty of sleep.

Hi Team,
Yesterday was a great day. It kept raining. When I went to go pick up my food the guy just kept giving me stuff because there was lots of food and not that many people will come out in the rain. I got it all before the start time which was great too. The second week of the month I get lots of food. I go wednesday, Thursday and two places on Friday. I took what I needed and took 2 boxes to mom, 1 box to J and 6 boxes to my neighbor that runs a daycare, takes what she needs and then disperses the rest to. The children's families. Nothing goes to waste.

Mom and I went to see the penguin movie and then went to Red Lobster for dinner. Red Lobster is about a 20 minute drive with no traffic. We left for dinner at 5:00, quitting time. It took us over an hour to get there. Maybe that's why we don't go there to often. It looks like I'm going to have another talk with John about his hygiene. I hate that. I hate being mean but he is forcing my hand and I. Don't want to make him leave my mothers home, but I can't have him smelling up the entire house plus ruining her furniture. It's really hard when you have to take on the parent roll to your elders. At least it is for me. Enough of that. All in all I had a great day with mom.

BARBARA, That's so great. I remember those times. I hope you took pictures. If you did maybe you can post one on your page that we can look at. I would love that.

NANCY, That sounds great helping in such a way. I read some great tips for holiday parties. Carry a bottle of water with you at all times and bring something healthy to the gathering like a vegetable tray so you know you will have something to eat. If you do indulge then make sure you workout to make up for the extra calories. The last one is what I do. I'm planning a long workout session with my WII today to make up for my dinner yesterday.

JUDY, Your staying pretty consistent on getting to bed on time. That's great. It's super that you managed to get extravagant with your eating and still manage not to go over. That's what a little more exercise will do for you. I depend of exercise to keep me in check because I love to eat and if it's something that I know doesn't come around very often I will indulge.

NANCY - I ended up not getting anymore baked today but will be finishing up tomorrow, hopefully, other than the last minute muffins for the neighbors. I know how you felt when you went shopping to help others. We did the "Angel Tree" this year - I had a Pre-K little girl and I felt like a child in a candy factory! I enjoyed it thoroughly and definitely makes a person feel good to be able to do that for someone else.

PAM - I've been to a black church several times years ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself!! It's an experience you never forget. Of course, I went to school with lots of blacks - actually, I had more black friends in high school than whites. I never cook with canned yams either - I used to but it just doesn't taste as good. I do eat a lot of sweet potatoes in the microwave however - love it!! Frozen veggies we do eat. Just not crazy about the taste of those in a can. My brother lives in the same park as we do. He loves the southern sweet potato pie but can't seem to find a real recipe for it. He's all by himself so I thought maybe I'd make him one. My DH doesn't like sweet potatoes at all, but oddly enough he loves sweet potato pie!!! I have a tendency to doctor recipes up so they aren't as fattening as the original recipe calls for and yet still doesn't change the taste of things. So, let me know how it goes for you and YES, I'd like a recipe of real old fashioned, southern cooking sweet potato pie. Thanks.

BRENDA - Gee, you should have told me before I finished baking all those batches of cookies!! emoticon . But, then again I wouldn't want to be the one to put your new lifestyle into the shape of the old lifestyle!! emoticon .

Well, I didn't do very good on my eating today; however, I did stay within my goal for everything except calories and I went over them by 58 points or so. I didn't get any ST in but did take an extra 1-mile walk today (3 walks total) to try to help for my over eating and bad choices (chinese food). But, I'll admit it sure tasted good for a change.

Now, it's time for me to get some sleep!! (I just checked my calorie count and steps again before I signed off of here the first time and I'm now 10 calories BELOW my calorie range and I've gone OVER my 10,000 steps!!!!!! Yea for me!!! OK, I'm going to bed now!!

Pam -I'm glad the restart is working for you. I'm still struggling. I just need to get my head straight. I updated my minutes for the fitness challenge. I actually had more than I thought. There were a couple of days that I had minutes but they weren't from a formal workout, I counted them though. Moving step brother, moving the boxes for the shelter, things like that.

Judy - That's lot of cookies! I made a batch if 7 layer cookies and chow mein noodle candy the other night. I'll probably only bake two or three more batches of cookies and be done. I want to bake each of my kids favorites in Christmas Eve to give them. Thanks for the prayers for the job. I really need to get out of where I currently work.

Brenda - I bet you are a proud mama! Enjoy them while they're little, they grow so fast.

I'm trying to get back on track today. We had our Harley group meeting/Christmas party. We packed boxes of food for a local battered women's shelter. We went shopping Tuesday to pick up the food. We had enough to make 7 or 8 boxes each for 24 women/families. It felt good to be able to help out. After we did the work we ate and none if it was healthy.

Mmmmm Judy the cookies sound amazing! Are you sending all 105 to me??? How sweet! LOL. I bet that took some time to do.

Pam - I know what you mean about Midwestern cooking. I never use spice or salt/pepper in my food. My mom never did and that is what I learned I guess.

last night was Jordans first Christmas program and he did amazing! I am so proud of him!!!! Happy I was able to watch. last year he was sick!

Well happy Friday all! Lets hope the work day goes fast!!!

JUDY, I think it's the southern kind. My church is almost entirely black and so is my husband. I'm white and learned to cook mid-western, my mom was from Iowa. It's good but lacks spice. Since I met my DH I have learned to cook more like his mom. I make some mean greens, black eyed peas and a great peach cobbler and deep dish Apple pie. I also use a lot of various spices in my cooking. My family loves it when I cook Thanksgiving and CHRISTMAS dinners because I don't believe in yams from a can or frozen vegetables. Frozen veggies are for filling out your soups. I seem to have gotten off track. The SP pie is loaded with calories and my DH listened to the recipe as she read it to me and he was pleased. Once I try it I'll let you know how it turned out and you can decide if you want the recipe.

Baked 105 chocolate chip cookies today. Tomorrow I'll be doing the chocolate covered nuts of all kinds and then I can get my last pkg sent out!!! The week of Christmas I'll be baking my muffins so they'll be nice and fresh for the neighbors. The only exercise I got in today was walking twice (1 mile each) today and cleaning up after my mess from cooking!! I will be so glad when it's done!!!

PAM - The energy I have for baking is self induced!!! If it wasn't for Christmas I wouldn't have been doing so much of it!! I believe I have made 5 different kinds of cookies as well as chocolate chip bars. Sweet potato pie sounds so good. I haven't made one of those in years!!!! Do you make the southern sweet potato pie? If so, how about sharing the recipe for it with me please. Great job on the 2# weight loss!!!

Nancy - Good job on the interview. Now we'll pray that the job is yours!!

Now it's about time for me to get to bed. Oh no, I forgot! I need to cut up the whole chicken that I boiled for the dogs so they'll have something to eat other than dry dog food.

Hi Team,
It's raining steady and strong. All the streets are flooding. We are not used to getting this kind of rain. We need it though as we were facing a drought and my lawn sure is enjoying it. My DH and I were out in it today getting errands done. It was crazy.

I'm doing pretty good on my restart. I've lost 2 of the 8 pounds I gained. I'm starving today which is usually an indication that I'm about to lose again. I sure do hope so. I want to be able to be comfortable in my clothes again. I haven't been able to stop my night time eating completely but I sure have reduced it a lot.

JUDY, You sure have been industrious. All that baking. I can do it to when I'm in the mood but I haven't even been in the mood for cooking much less baking. I want to make a sweet potato pie for my husband. I got the recipe from one of the mothers from our church.

NANCY, I was wondering about your exercising. I was checking over the Fitness Challenge and was going to send you a comment but you beat me to it. Two minds without a thought. emoticon

Brenda - I hope you had fun last night. I know you'll enjoy the Christmas show tonight. This little ones are so cute. I miss those days. My little ones are all grown up and. No grand babies yet. Thanks for the encouragement on the job search. I do my looking and applying online so I only have to take off work if I get an interview.

Pam - Are they doing testing on J, or so this an assisted living place? Whichever it is, I hope you can get some help so the responsibility doesn't all fall on you. Thanks for the good luck wishes. The test was pretty easy so I should get called for an interview there. My interview went pretty good, I think. I have another one today, and I think this is the job I want. I'll keep you posted.

Judy - Thanks for the prayer.

I haven't worked out since Monday so I'm off to my basement gym. I'll let you know how the interview goes.

emoticon Sparkers!!! Hope everyone had a great day!! All I need now is to send out 2 gifts in the mail, make a few more cookies and bars to go with them and I'll be done! Then, it'll be time to make a plate of goodies up for a few neighbors!!

PAM - Well, it sounds like you got some good walking in today at least. Hope tomorrow goes a little more relaxing for you!! Turkey soup sounds good!! I've never made that before.

BRENDA - If it takes me to get pregnant to get rid of this headache, I think maybe I'll just as soon continue with my headache if it's all the same to you. Besides, at 68 years old and pregnant, I'd be a millionaire - not even the carriage left! On second thought, I think I could find something to do with a million dollars!! I'd struggle! emoticon .

Nancy - Good luck on the job!! Saying a prayer for you.

Well, I think maybe I'll take another muscle relaxer and my meds and get to sleep!! I'm tired!!!

Hi Team,
Well today I finished my turkey soup and it is soooooo good. Very tasty and loaded with veggies. J was supposed to go into Stanford at 8:00 a.m. this morning. I called me at 6:00 a.m. and asked " is it time to get up yet?" I wanted to kill her. After a few choice words I hung up on her. They told me To call the floor to make sure there is a bed for her. It's never full but call anyway. Guess what, they were full. I'm expecting some discharges. . . Ok, I waited until 1:00 and tried again. Oh yes it will be ready in about an hour. By the time I got her ready, in the car and there it was 3:00 and I had an appointment at 4:00. Needless to say my day didn't go as planned. Not only that but Stanford is hugh and the entrance was at one end and her wing was at the other. I was walking really fast and it took me 10 minutes to get there, 10 minutes back, then while I was waiting for my car I remembered that some paperwork the doctor anted was still in my purse. 10 minutes back to her room and 10 minutes back. I got about 40 minutes of a brisk walk in today and was only 5 minutes late to my appointment. I'm tired and my feet hurt. I'm looking forward to soup for dinner. Hmmmm.

NANCY, Looking forward to hearing good news about a new job. Good luck!!!

BARBARA, So glad for you. I'ld be excited too. You'll have to tell us all about it tomorrow.

Good morning all! Got up and did a work out this morning. Had to because we are going to see the Christmas Train tonight after work! Super excited. I know the boys will love it. Tomorrow is Jordan’s (2) Christmas program at day care! I am so excited! Last year was his first year at a center and he was sick that day. But hopefully not this time.

Nancy – Hopefully you find the right job for you! I keep thinking of looking but then I loose so much vacation time and if I leave now I have to pay back what I didn’t accrue. That’s how they get ya! Lol.

Pam - Wow 59 Wii fit minutes! Congrats! I would imagine that it felt amazing! And refreshing too! Turkey soup sounds amazing! What time are you getting up to eat? I wonder if a slim fast shake or protein shake before bed might help?

Judy – hope the headache went away! That is no fun! I suffered from them for about 6 years after my aneurysm clipping until I got pregnant and then they just stopped and didn’t come back. Crazy huh! Glad to be done shopping? All we have left is stocking stuffers. After Christmas I will shop for the neice and nephews since we go in Jan for that xmas party.

Chrissie – Welcome! Glad to have you here! I like SP too! Better than My Fitness Pal. I love having the articles and community for support. The diploma in Nutritional meds sounds interesting. What do you do with that?

Pam - I'm sorry that Jeanine is still having problems. Did they keep her at the hospital? My husband's grandma collected bells too.

Judy - I used to make several different cookies and candy at Christmas time but now I only make a few. We have a meeting of our Harley group tomorrow so I will make 7 layer cookies and chow mein candy to take with. I will make my kids favorite cookies on Christmas Eve. That's probably all I'll do this year.

Risa - I'm glad to know you didn't suffer permanent damage from the stroke and that you're getting better.

Brenda - No need to apologize. Just post when you can.

Christina - Welcome! Happy belated birthday! We're about the same age, I turn 54 in March. I look forward to getting to know you.

Today is going to be busy. I have to take a test for a position I applied for in the County Clerk's office this morning. I have one interview this afternoon and another one tomorrow morning. I feel like insofar these has to be the right job for me!

Hi Team,
Today was a good day!! I got 59 minutes in on my WII Fit. It felt so good. So far my eating has been going great. We will see how my night goes as I eat during the night every time I wake up. I'm trying to stop that or at least snack on a piece of fruit or vegetables. In fact most of the things that I normally snack on I have run out of and I'm not buying any more. I'm making some turkey soup because I've gained 8 pounds and my pants are no longer comfortable. I purposefully gave away all my "fat" clothes so I would be forced to lose weight if I gained any weight. I'm also going to start the "30 days to skinny jean". I did it last year and it worked really well.

JUDY, I have to agree with you. I'm glad we get new days. Ild be in a real pickle if we didn't. emoticon At least you got your exercise in and managed to stay within your nutritional range. I'm trying really hard to go back to what got me here and take off what I let creep back on. I don't know how you manage to do all that baking and not eat everything. I would have to sample everything at least 2-3 times.

RISA, Just to clarify it was my cousin J that had the seizure. Yes you are right, I should bring a snack with me. Usually I do but for some reason I didn't. You sound so positive about what your going through. That's great. I had a small stroke that effected my vision for about 1-2 months but luckily that was all and my brain re-wired itself and my vision returned to its previous state.

BARBARA, No need to feel bad about being short. Life gets first priority and we all understand. Sometimes I just post about me and don't respond to anyone. It all depends on how busy we are. I don't have a job but I help my mom and I'm conservator for my cousin. She has several physical problems and she is developmentally challenged. Between that, myself, my hubby and being leader of the best team there is it keeps me pretty busy.

CHRISSIE, emoticon emoticon Happy Birthday. I think a resolution on your birthday is a great idea. If I remember next year I'm going to try that too. Congratulations on your diploma. I never got a college diploma. I took a lot of classes but never quite made it.

Hi ya'll !!! Hope everyone's doing well. I didn't get my baking done today but I did get 2 hours of shopping in with my hubby. Got more Christmas shopping done - only 2 more gifts to get for family out of state (gift cards). Tomorrow I go to my podiatrist in Brownsville. I've had a nasty headache all day today so I will be going to bed early - like very soon!!! I need to get a bite to eat to keep my sugar elevated to last throughout the night first though. I've stayed within my calorie range today, drank my fluids, but with all the running around trying to get presents done and out as well as walking the dogs twice today (1 mile each), but ate the wrong foods. Tomorrow is a "new day" - - boy, I'm sure glad we get "new days" on this program!!

Check in with ya'll tomorrow.

Hi everyone, this is my first role call, so I hope that everyone is having a great day.

I live in Australia, have been using SP for a while, I was using an Australian database for my tracking but I stumbled on SP and like the articles, exercise videos, support and motivation I get from this site.

I have three children (2 girls and a boy) and two grandchildren, (twins a boy and a girl, Chelsea and Hayden), and two dogs (Bella and Tyson). I have just had my 54th birthday (yesterday) so am ready to make a new years resolution, I usually use my birthday to do this instead of the 1st January as is the norm. I promised myself that I would reduce my weight by 10% by my birthday which I did, YEAH, that bought my weight to below 100kg another YEAH. My next goal is to reduce my weight by another 10% by the 1st February.

I like reading, using the internet, learning new things and going for walks with my dogs, they are getting older now so I don't take them out for very long, usually end up going out again after I have taken them home. I have a fitbit to keep my steps on track.

I have just completed a Diploma in Management and am currently doing a Diploma in Nutritional Medicine and Business Administration.

So that is me in a nutshell, have a good day everyone.

Hey team! Man its been a while! Sorry about that! Didn’t get online once this weekend I don’t think. Too many sweets got me into a funk! Darn it all! Not much to report. Just living each day!

Pam – Jesse is my hubster! And my BFF! Oh and my rock! LOL. I do love my son with all my heart. He really is my reason for being!

Risa – so sorry to hear about your stroke! I bet that was super scary! Glad you are with us!

Judy – baking! Yum! What did you all bake? Sounds like you were moving around the house so that is a calorie burner right there! Yay for you!!

Ok sorry to not come around and then come back and post short! Been super busy at work getting caught up for year end! Talk to you all soon! I promise! : )

Hi Team, Pam and Judy!

Pam.. sorry to hear about your seizure ... yes, like Judy below suggests... it might be a good idea to carry snacks with you for times like today..

Judy... nice to meet you. Good for you to get some major house keeping completed....AND wrapping presents, too...awesome! Congrats on baking the cookies and muffins...they sound so yummy!

A little about me... I am a stroke survivor... I suffered a stroke in February this year after a hysterectomy (for fibroids). I'm working on getting better along with getting my weight back down. So far, so good... I getting back down to a comfortable weight again, and it feels good. Exercising and getting my strength and balance back also. My days are busy right now, going to therapy - occupational, speech and physical. Have not been working since my stroke, but I am keeping plenty busy. Lucky for me I have not had much damage except for some short-term memory loss, which is getting better. I am also working on perfecting my balance through physical therapy.

Look forward to getting to know everyone!

Cheers,
Risa

emoticon everyone!!! Didn't get my strength training in today but kept very busy cleaning house, baking, shopping, baking, laundry, baking, wrapping presents, baking, and even got some presents mailed. I ate a piece of a broken cookie and no, I didn't break the cookie either. emoticon . So far I've baked chocolate chip bars and 4 different kinds of cookies. Still have more to go plus make some candy (chocolate covered) and a few different kind of healthy and yummy muffins. In a few minutes, I'm getting off of here and taking some "me time" and then it's bed time for me!

PAM - You need to carry something in your purse or car other than water for times just like the one you had today - peanuts, crackers, fruit, etc. Glad to hear that J is doing better.

LOREN and JENNIFER - emoticon to our great team!!! You'll find all kinds of support here.

BETTERNANCY - No, I didn't get my baking done yet but worked on it again today. I have more cookies and chocolate covered candy to do yet!! I'll be glad when it's all done so I can wrap it up and give it away!!!!!! How about you? Get the baking started yet?

Check on ya'll later tomorrow!! Be safe and stay warm and dry!!

Hi Team,
Well so much for my plans for today. J had another seizure and I spent all day in the emergency room, from 11:30-5:30. I hadn't eaten and I was so hungry. I ate as soon I got home. Thankfully I brought two bottles of water with me.

LOREN, emoticon To the best team in all of Sparkdom. Well maybe I'm a little bit prejudice. I'm very happy that you chose our team. Congratulations on your walk/run!

DOLLY, Nice to see you. It's been a long time. How are you doing. Your sounding really good.

1TOBFIT, At least your in the positive!! That's great. Getting up that early and getting your workout in. I need that kind of dedication.

JENNIFER, emoticon Welcome aboard. So glad you've joined us. Keep us informed on your progress. We want to share in your journey.

RISA, emoticon Welcome aboard to you also. We would love to share your journey so make sure you're keep us informed.

JUDY, You tell them Judy!!

NANCY, I collect bells also. Every time anybody goes anywhere I ask them to bring me a bell. So glad to hear about all the exercise!! That's great. A salad sounds like a great idea. Congratulations on your interview. I know you want to get out of your currant position.

RACHEL, You've been busy as ever. Good work!! You have much more energy than I do. You go girl!!

Jackie - Great job! 7:15 is early when you work nights. What do you do?

Rachael - I miss the days of watching Christmas movies with my little ones. The wreaths sound cute.

Pam - Sorry to hear about J. I hope they can figure out what's causing the seizures.

I didn't walk at lunch, but I did stick to my planned salad for lunch. I have a job interview in Wednesday so I'm preparing for that.

Hi Team,
I'm up but ready to go back to bed. My washer and dryer were delivered today and the repair woman has come and gone. I'm not usually up at 8:00. On top of that I did not sleep well last night. It looks to be a rough day today. On a negative note I snacked all night last night. Not at all happy with myself. On a positive note I got 40 minutes in of cardio dance yesterday. My cousin is having problems again. She had several seizures yesterday. I'll see how she does today. My plans for today is to go grocery shopping and go to Sears to order a pedestal for my washer and of course get more exercise in.

Have a great day everyone and will catch up later.

Hi everyone!
This month is going by way too fast. I still have a lot I want and need to do.
I cleaned for hours Friday so I could take it easy over the weekend.
So Saturday I spent all day making door knob wreaths for teachers and helpers. My little ones helped some. My youngest was the most help. We watched Christmas movies while working. Sunday we had church and play practice. Today I went and read my new book to preschool and I really enjoyed that. Now I am cleaning and laundry. Need to workout later, hopefully my oldest DD and I will get to do a workout video later.
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Judy - Did you get your baking done? I haven't started on mine yet. We're going to outright HOG meeting on Thursday so I'll make a couple things to take to that. Great jib getting I. 32 minutes of strength training!

Pam - I do t think I'm depressed, just tired and no energy. I did get a lot of exercise this weekend. We moved step brother Thursday night and Friday my husband picked up his mom's curio cabinet for me. I've wanted one for a long time to display my bells and salt and pepper shakers that I have. The shakers were my grandma's and I collect the bells. I spent time running up and down stairs getting the boxes to unpack. Saturday I decorated for Christmas so that was more trips up and down stairs. Yesterday we redid my husband's office. He bought a second desk and we moved things around and build a desk. I didn't get my normal weekend naps, but I still felt good.

Loren - emoticon you'll find lots of support here!

Dolly - It's good t hear from you!

1tobfit - I've been struggling too. Just keep trying. That's all we can do.

Jendevo - emoticon

Risa - emoticon I look forward to getting to know you too.

I finally feel like I can make progress this week. I am taking time to focus on me. I know that when things get too busy I have trouble staying on track. I'm changing that today! I already worked out for 40 minutes this morning and will walk at lunch. I'm having salad for lunch today and will pick it up after my walk.

Morning Team emoticon Wishing you all a wonderful day!

These last 2 weeks have been a blur to me. So busy!
I've lost traction on my focus and goals. I'm having a "3 steps forward, 2 steps back" kind of moment. Just needed to vent !
Oh well, I'll be plowing straight ahead this week, even if it means a *little* less sleep!

@ Dolly, Thank you for the smile this morning!

Hi Team,
Today has been busy for me. I had lunch with a bunch of my old co-workers. It has been about 8 years since I worked with any of them but we worked together for about ten years. The place has changed so much. When we started working together we had so much fun working there. One by one we either got payed off, moved to another company forcefully or was worked to death. The climate changed so much that it was no longer fun to work there. Anyway one gal arranges for us to get together for lunch once a month and it's a lot of fun. We were there for two hours just chatting away. I then went shopping for a gift. Just two more gifts to go now. Went to moms and gave her a bath, took care of her toes and tweezed her chin and lip. I was there for over two hours. I had to talk her into it but when it was all over she felt so much better but we were both worn out.

BRENDA, Who is Jessie? I can hear your love for your son come through in how you write about him.

NANCY, You sound depressed, are you? If your sore then you definately burned some calories and worked those muscles. Work on just one goal. This week's challenge should be good for you. Check it out.

JUDY, You made the right choice in getting your sleep. I hope you enjoyed your breakfast. After all you managed to stay in range and that's what's important.

emoticon fellow Sparkers!! Well, I didn't get my strength training (30 minutes) in yesterday but did get some house cleaning done instead. We had company for quite a while last evening so had a choice of either blogging on here or getting to bed at a decent time - - so, I choice bed and figured I really needed to keep on schedule with sleep as I'm use to getting much less needed sleep. I didn't even get anymore baking done yesterday.

I got my 30-minute of strength training in today - actually 32 minutes!! Today is set aside for getting some cookies made and hopefully some chocolate covered peanuts etc done today as well as hubby wants to get the Christmas presents out in the mail to his brother and to my son and his family. So, today will be a very busy day.

Oh yes, went to Denny's yesterday for breakfast. I saw the Pecan Banana Pancake Breakfast and it said "extra lean" and " high fiber" so I thought that shouldn't be too bad - - - WRONG!! It was 750 calories but I had swapped out their maple syrup for sugar free syrup so that helped some!! I would have been better off if I had gotten the Waffle breakfast instead - that only had 550 calories. I still stayed within the low end of my calorie range however - I just had to be extra careful for the last 2 meals and snacks!! Don't want to make that mistake again!

BBERG - I'm originally from Muskegon, MI but moved to N. Dakota where it really did get down to -50 temps with -95 wind chills. I told my husband if I see 2 snow flakes we were moving to TX!!! No more than got that out of my mouth and we saw 2 snow flakes. Well, we have been living in the Rio Grande Valley (Weslaco, TX) - about 7 miles from Progresso, MX!!! First year down here and it snowed for the first time in 107 years! The darn white stuff followed us down here!!

PAOLINA - Walking is a good place to start. That's how I lost my first 40#. Keep up the good work!!

PAM - Missed you also!! Great job on getting your Christmas presents done!! I don't mind waiting for 1-1/2 hours at the dentist if I only have to pay $30 but I'd sure hate to pay the prices for in the states and have to wait that long!!

Will try to check in again later this evening if I can. For now, it's time for lunch!!

JudsterF (JudyF) emoticon emoticon

Pam - I would hate to wait that long for my dentist! I get so nervous when I have to go that waiting would drive me crazy!

Success - Awesome job! I can never have just one fresh baked cookie. You're doing great!

Rachael - I hope you get to relax this weekend too.

Brenda - Sorry to hear about your crown. Great job of tracking!

I haven't been doing a good job with my restart. I haven't tracked everything like I should and haven't really exercised either. We did help my husband's step brother move last night so I got lots of going up and down steps. I have multiple bands for my Fitbit and had taken it off to do dishes. I grabbed it before we left and when we got home realized I had he one with no tracker in it! Oh well, at least I got some movement in. My arms were sore last night from lifting boxes.
