emoticon Good morning everyone!

My computer is back up and running! It's been so long since I've been able to use it, I thought that I might forget how to do it emoticon

I hope that all of you had a good New Year's day celebration and making resolutions and goals and are anticipating success in each one. It will take me a while to get caught up on everything and everyone, but I'm looking forward to a good year.I have been enjoying reading your posts and the challenges that have been going on and see which ones I'm interested in in order to join.

I was going over my Spark page for the new year and realized that I have been on Spark People for 5 years now.How time flies when you're having fun and losing pounds.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

Amanda, I'm glad that you had a great holiday! I was slacking with my goals over the Christmas holiday too but since I have gotten back on track. I need to focus on not over eating though.

Pam, I am happy to hear that your daughter's surgery went well! I hope that your headaches get better. May I suggest that you talk to your doctor about them? Good luck with your goals!

Vickie, emoticon on losing 2lbs.!

As for me, I am starting to get my calories under control. I think about what I am eating and how many calories it has. My workouts are going good averaging about an hour a day. My Water Intake and Steps are good. Also, I am averaging a little over 200 calories burned a day

Crafty, emoticon

I hope you all had a Happy New Year!

First day of my, once again new start. I know it will be tough going at first as I have done nothing diet-exercise wise for the past year due to health problems, but it is time to start anew and do what I can as I can't continue on without any place to report into and make myself accountable. I will be weighing in on Mondays as that is the easiest day for me to remember.

Hi team,
I know its been awhile since I've been online. I'm so sorry. Health issues and life issues have definitely gotten in the way. Today I'm waiting in the surgery waiting room for one of my daughters to come out of recovery. The surgery went well but its another day where the day is lost. I have had a headache ever since my car accident before Thanksgiving. There are some days that it is so bad that I can hardly get out of bed. I don't say anything, I just deal; but it has impacted my ability to lead the team. I am so thankful for my co-leaders. They have been great.

VICKIE, I totally understand the struggle at the end of the year. I have been struggling too. I think I am down a bit but not where I would like to be. My goal was to be down by the end of the year (two months from when I set the goal). I have 2 more days to lose another pound or two. Let's both finish strong and start the new year on a positive note.

PATRICIA, Yes the turkey soup was great. After Christmas I made another turkey soup which was better than the other one, and I got the ham bone from my DD and made a 15-bean soup with ham. Boy is that good. I also have some greens (I make some killer greens) and home made corn bread. No corn bread mix for me. I love it when I take the time to cook, I just don't do it often enough.

JUDY, So glad to hear from you. Try getting a voice program on you PC so it is easier to do your posting. I will look into that special therapy. I sure am tired of this headache. What happened to your arm that you are disabled? It sounds like you are doing better which is good. How is you DH doing these days? Have a great week.

DEBBIE, It seems that a lot of us were MIA last week. If I remember correctly it was this way last year also. Life just gets in the way which is as it should be. I'm so sorry you were ill. That is a terrible way to spend time off. I hope you are feeling much better this week. I'm looking forward to a healthy new year.

CARRIE, I'm so glad you are getting back on track. One day at a time is the way to go. You have some great goals. My goal of improved health is broken down to many of the same goals as you. Increased water intake, increased exercise, stay within calorie ranges and in general cook and eat more healthy meals. Not to worry about not making your steps. Family is extremely important. Have a great week.

AMANDA, You are certainly not alone. We all seem to be trying to get back on track this week. I'm so glad you had a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing more posts from you soon.

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you all know that my holidays were great! I had a great time and was extremely busy. But it was worth it. I got off my eating plan and gained some weight back over the holidays but not as much as I expected. I am starting a restart tomorrow and hoping to get back into the swing of things. I didn't get any exercise in during my visit and now the snow is piling up and making walking even harder.

I hope you all have a great new years and a wonderful 2016! I will still be around and getting back into the swing of things, so I will be back to hopefully participate in these great challenges in 2016! I really need to get my butt in gear and lose some weight before the winter is over!

Talk to you all again soon!
Amanda

Hi team,
I am starting to get back on track! Yesterday, I had some ups and downs with my goals. I went over my calorie range by almost 500 calories yikes. The reasons why I went over my calendar was because over ate at dinner and I had two servings of trail mix as a night time snack.

I did really well with my exercise. My Fitness minutes totaled 74 minutes! Those 74 minutes of exercise constited of Yoga. I love doing Yoga it makes my body feel good amount it is a great stress reliever. I burned 187 calories!

I met my water intake! I have been working really hard on meeting my water intake. I find that I drink most of my water in the afternoon and at night. I don't know why I don't drink that much in the morning.

I didn't meet my daily steps. My number came in about 120 steps under my goal. My sister and her kids came over to do our Christmas together. Yesterday consisted of a lot of sitting and visiting with my family.

I am trying to do better today than yesterday. I hope you all had a great Christmas! Have a great day everyone!

Hello everyone!! Just thought I'd pop in and see what's going on in here. It's been quite a while since I've been on board due to long-term physical problems. I'm very limited on how much I can and/or use my left hand and arm. I'm at almost 30% disability now with my left arm.

My DH bought me an Apple MacPro for Christmas as my other one had taken a dump as usual This one's suppose to be the best for no viruses. Everything seems to get encrypted with Apple to prevent that from happening.

PAM - When you go to the chiropractor find out if they due the Graston Technique. That is the ONLY thing that got rid of the 2-3 year continual headache. Don't have it anymore since having the Graston Technique done. It only took about 3 treatments to get it totally gone. I had been to 3 different neurologists and all I ever got was pills, pills and more pills and still had my headache. I am now off of even the Gabapentin they had me on for the headaches. Hope things are going a little better for you since I talked to you last. So glad the night-time eating is under control. Keep up the good work!!

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Thanks! I really thought doing the BLC would push me. I'm usually very competitive. I think part of it might be my hormones balancing out after getting the IUD last month. So, hopefully that gets better. And, I need to dig deep and find the competitive me. I need to want to do better than the rest of my team! :)

2 more days of work!

Argh! I gained 2 pounds this weekend! I'm not surprised. It was like I had absolutely NO self control at all this weekend. I'm hoping to turn that around TODAY! I'm going to eat better and stay away from the treats (I haven't seen any here at work anyway) and I'm going to exercise tonight, one way or another!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi team,
Hi my dear friends. I hope all is going great with you. My life is not the best. Night time eating is doing well. (or no night time eating). The rest of my life is not great. I have 2 laptops and neither of them are doing to well. I have had a headache ever since I had the car accident. Eventually it will go away. I have been very busy getting ready for Christmas. I will be going to my daughter's for dinner but I was given a turkey (3 turkeys actually) so I decided to cook a turkey dinner today. Tomorrow I will put together my famous turkey soup. I'm looking forward to it. In case I don't talk to you again before Christmas, have a wonderful holiday.

VICKIE, I remember that last year it was really quiet too. emoticon on losing even though were in the middle of the gaining season. I'm seeing a chiro too. 3 times a week. I hope we all maintain throughout the holidays.

AMANDA, It sounds like you are planning a fantastic holiday. We have two Christmas' also. Some of us get together on Christmas Eve and open gifts and have snacks and pie. Others of us get together Christmas Day and have dinner and open gifts. Both are tons of fun.

DEBBIE, You sound like your so busy and still working out. emoticon

PATRICIA, so what are you up to this holiday season. Lots of good things I hope.

DEBBIE - Great job on the consistent exercise! And it looks like it's paying off with more weight loss! emoticon

I've not been able to make time to exercise since Tuesday. And tonight we are going to my MIL for dinner/Christmas. I want to keep focused on losing weight, but I'm resolved that if I can manage to maintain during the next 2 weeks of busy activities and lots of eating opportunities, that will be a win.

Have a great Friday!

Hi Friends,

I hope to get on here and post this coming week. But I can't promise that, I plan to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends down home. I am hoping to be able to keep up with my plans for eating over the holidays but I am still going to enjoy some of the holiday sweets. Just not all of them.. lol

I leave in the morning, and hoping to finish my packing and such tonight. Busy night ahead, but it will be worth it. My daughter is overly excited since she gets two Christmases. We have a family Christmas on Saturday while the family can all be together. It should be a very fun day of family laughter and kids playing. Kerri can't wait to see her favorite person.. Poppa! She misses him most of all. My dad really does have a special bond with Kerri, they are born 55 years apart! She was born on his birthday and it's bonded them ever since.

To all of you here, have a great Christmas season! I hope to hear all about your Christmas adventures!

Good Tuesday morning team.

I broke down and went to the chiro yesterday. My muscles are still sore, but I'm walking better. He said my hips were way out of balance and I had a twist in my back. So, hopefully I'll be getting better every day. I woke up feeling better this morning, but it is starting to hurt now. I think I'll try stretching some more in my office.

I got on the elliptical last night to do about 20 minutes, and since I was watching an episode of Scandal on Netflix, I ended up staying on for 45 minutes! emoticon

I hope you all have a great day!

Happy Monday....still no decorating done in my house. We did get 5 different kinds of cookies made. Gave some to my boyfriends mother, sister, and my step-daughter. Still lots left but need to make more before Christmas. Putting the tree up is the next thing but probably will not get to that until at least Wednesday!

Amanda - hope you are feeling better.

Hi all,

Horribly stressful weekend just passed, and seems starting out that way this week. I find life so much more stressful at Christmas time. I want to enjoy the day so much but leading up to the day can be extremely stressful. Doesn't help that I'm heading on a week long trip to see my family on Thursday morning, so I have to add in packing and preparing for a 5 hour train ride with my 6 year old daughter and followed by a 2 hour bus ride and 1 hour car trip with my father. I don't like to drive that far in the winter especially. 8 hours is long for me to drive straight through and I miss out on time with my daughter. So the train and bus process is a lot better for me, and she gets my undivided attention for many of those 8 hours. Usually she falls asleep in my dad's car..

On top of all the packing and cleaning, I've been trying to deal with my own emotions this weekend. I seem overly moody and I'm sure it's cause TOM is coming real soon but I'm not 100% convinced that it's not stress related. I am better today but still feel kind of down, when I should be so happy to finally get out of the big city and enjoy the country life for a few days!
Maybe the change of pace will do me more good than I realize, I guess I'll just wait and see how my moods/emotions are this week.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Happy Monday team!

Well, I didn't eat the best this weekend, but not really horrible, either. I got 10 minutes on the elliptical Saturday, then shopping was about an hour worth of walking! Yesterday I did 20 minutes of yoga.

My back is still really bothering me. As much as I want to do some really good HIIT workouts and burn a ton of calories, I think, for now, I just need to maybe do some lighter cardio and yoga to see if I can get my back feeling better. I also might break down and see the chiro. It hurts so bad that I've been reluctant to go in and have him crank on me, but maybe that's what it needs.

We finally got our tree up and decorated, but I still need to put out some other decorations around the house. It was very tough to get in the mood to decorate for Christmas when it was 60 degrees F and rainy yesterday!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Carrie, I need to do it too! Actually, I'm kinda restarting right now.

Vickie, emoticon Keep it up! Now that you've started, keep up the good work! So sorry about your blender, I understand your frustration. I can't live with mine.

Debbie and Carrie go for it!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Tomorrow we're going to the beach for 3 days but I'll try to keep in touch. I consider my Sparking here part of my 'me' time. It gives me comfort and helps me.

HI! Sorry I was not around much this week. I have been eating good and exercising every day at lunch. I have still done NO Christmas decorating, no tree, no decorations, no nothing. I was looking at the living room last night to see what to move where so I can fit the tree - so it is a step in the right direction. It will be done before Christmas but not sure how much before - LOL.

Hope everyone is doing well and has a great day!!!

Patricia - Your pictures of the brain exercising made me giggle this morning! Thanks for sharing!

I did pretty good last night, I think. I did 30 minutes HIIT on the elliptical, ate good. My husband was drinking and a lot of times I think, well if he's drinking, I'm going to eat! I need to NOT let him let me sabotage myself like that! I did snack, but had baked potato chips and diet root beer. Still snacking, but better than a lot of choices I've made in the past!

Our less than 6 month old Ninja blender quit working so no smoothie for me this morning. emoticon I made 1 egg, 1 egg white and turkey bacon omelet. I'm okay with the omelet, but so mad that the blender quit working! Those things are not cheap! We'll be taking it back to the store or calling the company or something!

I hope everyone has a great Thursday! I'm looking forward to the weekend already!

Hi Team,
I started off strong last week but by Thursday things started to fall apart. My mother's boyfriend was admitted to the hospital last Thursday. Come to find out he has COPD and he had a heart attack. He was always a healthy man so this information hit us like a brick. I pray that he will be OK. And I will try to get myself back on track.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning!

I had an awful night last night, sleep didn't come soon enough and ate more than I should. But it's a new day and I'm going to make this one better than the last. My exercise goals have been a little out of whack lately so I've decided to change things up. I'm going to start Jillian Michael's 30 day shred tomorrow to get some extra strength training in. It should be helpful during this busy holiday season and all the traveling I'll be doing, I can take it with me. And with starting a new challenge, that will help get me back to moving more and getting more in shape. I'm slowly inching towards my first goal and I can't be happier about it.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

Vickie - I am starting the Biggest Loser challenge for the second time, I really enjoyed it the first time. It's a great way to get focused and do some different things than you are used to. Or focus on a spot you've struggled with. I find the team environment helps me to be more accountable and I want my team to do well, so i tend to work harder while in the challenge. I hope you is a benefit to you as well. Good luck on the challenge!

Debbie - Hope you get some time to get your Christmas decorations up. As my daughter says daily... only 17 days to go.. lol

Patricia - Sorry to hear about your FIL. I'm glad you could find closure.

Pam - Great to hear you are starting to feel better! Hope each day you get a little stronger and more able to do what you need to do.

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

PAM - I'm sorry you're still hurting so much! I woke this morning with such a terrible backache it's hard to do just about everything. I made it to work, though, and hopefully I can make it through the day.

PATRICIA - I'm so sorry to hear about your loved one, and the migraine. I hope your family can enjoy the memories and time together.

Well, after spending all weekend at my father-in-law's, we came back home last night. It was nice to sleep in our own bed! I have so much to do at home, though, since I missed out on the weekend, when I usually clean! Our living room is still in disarray with the flooring project. I need to get it put back to a little bit of normal so we can put our tree up! It's December 8 already! Yikes!

Well, I hope that everyone has a wonderful day!

Hi team,
So sorry I haven't logged in for awhile but I'm still hurting and it's been all I could do to keep up on daily things like eating, dressing and brushing my teeth. Each day gets a little bit better. I've been at the chiropractor every day. I actually got some of my bills paid today. I need to catch up on that too. I did some exercise today also so I am getting better. Tomorrow is another day and things will get even better!!

VICKIE, I'm so proud of you for finding an alternative to working those large muscle groups even though you can't do squats. So sorry to hear that your team lost but its always better when its a great game. I like football also. I'm a die hard 49'er fan. So glad you had a healthy week. I'm looking forward to having a good week this week.

PATRICIA, So sorry to hear about your FIL. It's great that you could find peace and closure. When my father was dying I did home hospice with him. We were very close. When he passed it was ok. I knew he was at peace and no longer in pain and doing hospice when with him some how made things better. I miss him but I'm not hurt.

DEBBIE, With all that accomplished and excitement its no wonder you are tired. I would be too. I haven't decorated yet either. Actually I haven't had a Christmas tree since my Dad passed. He passed on Dec. 21st in 2008. I've decided that I want a Christmas tree this year. I'm really looking forward to it.

Debbie, emoticon on your step daughter's achievement! Hope you're having fun decorating emoticon

My DFIL past away last Saturday, so it's been a hectic time but worth it. It gives one closure and satisfaction. The only not positive is that I ended up today with a migraine. Already medicated though.

Have a fabulous week! emoticon

Hi! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I went to two hockey games (my team lost both times) and Sunday went to Hershey to see my step daughter accepted to National Honor Society - It was a great day and she was super excited! I'm tired today but hope to snap out of it soon. Looking forward to a productive week. I have not even started with the Christmas decorations. UGH! Talk to you soon,

Well the Hawks lost. emoticon But they fought hard! Both teams had extraordinary defense and neither team scored a touchdown until the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, there was just no time for Iowa to recover in the :30 after Michigan State got their touchdown. On the bright side, Iowa's going to the Rose Bowl! emoticon

I ate horribly this weekend! We spent all weekend at my father-in-law's house so my husband could deer hunt. Being in a different house with unhealthy options all around me and getting horribly bored, I definitely ate more than I should.

It's a new day and a new week! I did better last week than I had in a while, so I'm going to try and do even better this week! I'm doing the Biggest Loser winter challenge, and it starts on Wednesday, so I'm hoping that will be another push for me to stay focused!

Have a great Monday team!

Vickie, I can't do lunges and squats or my knee will start acting up. There are many, MANY exercises that I've found hurt different parts of my body no matter how good they say they are (lower back, a point in the upper back, knees, heels, etc.) The Orthopedist told me to do only what my body is comfortable with, that we do not need to push it in order to be healthy and in good shape. Oh, well.

Glad you're feeling emoticon and your floor is looking emoticon

Have a magnificent weekend! Go HAWKEYES!!! (we don't have that kind of football here) Hope they win. Enjoy!

Good morning and happy Friday to everyone!!

I'm sorry to hear of all the injuries and pain with everyone. Like I always say, it's a bitch getting older, but I guess it beats the alternative. I find it difficult to know when to push through the pain and when to take it easy. I've also found that I pretty much cannot do lunges and squats. I know how great those exercises for working the major leg muscles, but the repetition of them just kills my knees. I've switched to wall squats where I squat and hold it. That doesn't seem to be so bad.

I'm feeling pretty good today. Our new floor is coming along nicely and DH pulled up the remainder of the stupid ugly sage green carpet yesterday! emoticon I did some high intensity cross training last night and I can feel my muscles today! That kind of soreness always makes me feel strong!!

We're planning to spend the weekend at my father-in-law's house. DH wants to get out early to hunt for deer and then we have the big 10 championship game to watch Saturday night!! GO HAWKEYES!!! emoticon

I hope everyone has a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Debbie, HOORAY for you, the exercise and eating well!!!! emoticon Glad your paint night was very enjoyable.

Mary Ann, hope your Thursday was an awesome one.

Amanda, take care of your back. Some exercises are not good for it. I've seen that some stretches and some ST exercises are kind of enemies to my lower back especially during the cooler months. Wishing you good night sleeps!

Our 'summer' or dry season has arrived to stay for 5 to 6 months. Now is the cool, sunny, no wind time and everything is still green, so it's very nice.

Hi all,

I'm still tired today, lack of sleep isn't doing well for me this week. I have back pain today for the first time in months. It started in my sleep two nights ago, and today it's actually there in the daytime. Is it the exercises I've been doing this week for ST that's causing it? It could be possible.. I did train hard for 30 minutes last night..

Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Vickie - Keep trying, we all struggle with eating bad sometimes, or snacking a lot. I have bad nights with that, and I find the more tired I am, the worse my snacking gets. Keep pushing forward, being aware of the problem is the first step to fixing it or getting better at managing it. I find keeping busy I snack less so I watch less tv and if I do sit to watch a show, I do something else too, like writing or cross stitch or even build my daughter's lego sets.. lol Anything to keep the focus on something other than eating. Or try to drink more water. I have a goal to drink more so when I get a snack craving I tell myself if I drink a glass of water am still wanting that snack, I can have it. Sometimes I still do, other times I don't.

Debbie - Glad you are feeling better.

Well, I managed to not snack too much last night, but I hadn't done too good at work, so go figure. emoticon But, I was so tired I didn't workout either. I was in bed by 8:30 reading, then asleep a little after 9! Believe me, that's early for me!

I'm feeling a bit more rested today, so hopefully I can push myself to be more active tonight when I get home. We have a girl scout meeting, but maybe I can get on the elliptical either before or after the meeting. We'll see...

Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Tuesday!

PAM - I hope you get feeling better! Is the headache from an injury in the accident?

I'm very frustrated with myself. I plan what I bring to work to eat and do pretty good throughout the day. But then when I get home I just can't stop snacking! And then I don't exercise which makes it even worse! ARGH! I need to really work on my self control!

Hi team,
So sorry I've been MIA. Life has definitely got in the way. I was getting ready to go to my DH family in Washington when I got in a car accident. I've been way off ever since with a killer headache non-stop. I'm trying to catch up today with my almost 200 emails. I will try to catch up with you all tomorrow.

Nancy, nice to see you here.

Carrie, hope you had a good Holiday too. emoticon for a good on-track day yesterday!

Vickie, your home floor must be looking awesome.

Debbie, best wishes for a prompt recovery from your leg. emoticon for the new game!

Our rainy season is over, sooner than expected, and the sunny dry season is here to stay for 5 to 6 months straight ahead. Our dry season is our summer time/vacations, the long break at schools, is now till mid February.

Since I had my birthday yesterday, I'm 57, I've been off track... for 3 days emoticon Gained 1 lb more.

HI! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was good. Had 4 days off of work and got some much needed house cleaning done. I hurt my leg/knee somehow but I am going to get back to working out at lunch. Not sure how much I can do but I'm going to do something!

Talk to you soon!

Debbie

P.S. I just added a new game to the game area. Check it out and have some fun!

Good Monday morning! I've been MIA enjoying a long holiday weekend with my family! I didn't eat the best, but today is a new day. :)

We were busy replacing our old ugly carpet with new laminate flooring this weekend. We've got more to do but it looks so good!

Have a great day everyone!

Good evening!

Debbie, glad to hear the treatment is doing its magic.

Amanda, I hope you had a delightful and restful weekend. There are weeks that leaves us exhausted. Thank goodness for recovery weekends! I'm extremely happy to hear you're working on being positive about you emoticon I think everybody needs to be positive. For certain, nothing good comes out of negativity. We need to share, to give and RECEIVE. And I, personally, care about your progress. I love SparkPeople because it gave me people who do care about me. And it wasn't in an instant. I spent years in a very negative group emoticon Left SP feeling down. And when I regained my weight again, I decided to start exploring SP again, not to settle to just one group I had a bad experience with (I left that group when I left SP) and emoticon What a difference it has been! One person, two or three can make a great difference in our lives. We need to express ourselves and be heard and taken into account. Is the least we need! And here, you are able to find that.

emoticon

I'm celebrating a year of weight maintenance. Let's emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi team,

My moody week is just about over! WooHoo!!!! LOL Happy Friday everyone!

I am feeling slightly better today. I think a lot has gone on this week, and some I'm still working through, but I kept at my healthy journey and didn't slide down too far. I am starting to focus on my achievements and not so much on my set backs but I'm so used to looking at the negative side of myself and not focusing on what I am. So I plan to incorporate more focus on what I say to myself and how I treat myself the next few weeks. I need to focus on making my mind see that even when I don't reach a goal, I still got closer to it and achieved so much more.

Patricia, Thanks for the kind words.. I needed that more than you'll know. I tend to keep a lot to myself believing that others won't care or it doesn't mean anything to anyone but me. But I guess that doesn't matter, if it's something I feel is an accomplishment to me, I should learn to stand proud for it, instead of shying away or just keeping it to myself. I find lately, the more routine my fitness and nutrition become, the more other issue surface that I didn't really realize were part of the problem. My emotional state/thoughts has played a huge role in how I perceive myself and maybe it's time to focus on that side of my healthy transition...

Debbie, Hope you are feeling better!

Have a great weekend if I don't get time to say hello!

Pam, it's certainly cold in your place! It is adorable to be for a while with our grandchildren, and immediately after to rest it is!

Vickie, you sure gave me a good chuckle. That happens. I had to stop watching Criminal Minds because I started dreaming with dreadful crimes emoticon That's the attitude -moving on to today.

Amanda, being mindful about your eating at such celebrations is quite an achievement, plus improving what you would have normally eaten before this journey-to-a-healthier-you started is emoticon emoticon And, please, we are all here to share our ups and downs. Not only the downs. What purpose will we have if we only share the falls? No bragging taken, ever!! I feel it is with total respect and happiness that we receive the wonderful positive news of others moving in the right direction. Remember, we need to reward and give credit to what we accomplish. That's what we are working for. Aren't we? To feel good about ourselves for small steps and improvements towards being healthier.

Debbie, so sorry you are so sick. I hope from now on you'll begin a full recovery.

Did some gardening today (remember, I live in the tropics, so gardening is an all year round thingy). I wish I could like more sprouting and sowing stuff, but the mosquitoes (all year round too) drive me totally nuts. The constant sweating doesn't help either. But, oh well, I did what I had to and had been procrastinating (phew!) emoticon

Hi team,

Hope everyone is doing well. My day is definitely a write off on eating in calorie range but decided to use it as a treat day and I did fairly well. Our office was holding a celebration at an all you can eat buffet. After rereading Pam's blog about living with food, I decided I shouldn't miss the time with co workers because the food would be a problem. I just choose to do things a little differently. My goal was to eat slower (mindful eating) and no piling on the plate. If the plate had no room left, I went to sit down and eat that prior to going back. I definitely did eat a lot of food and for dessert I had a couple of squares and a small bowl of ice cream, which is less than I thought. I drank only water, and had a great time. It was worth going, and I managed better than I have in the past. It may not have been perfect, but it was better than 2 heaping plates or heaping plates of dessert.

I know sometimes I am hard on myself for only making it so far, but I find that I still have some programming in me, that my weight should be coming off faster with everything I'm doing. My brain knows the truth but sometimes it's hard to remember that when I want results, it's hard when I'm used to losing weight quickly and I know it isn't going to last but I forget to remind myself of that. That why I have to stay on top of blogging about my accomplishments, not to brag but to remind myself that I have come from somewhere else and made it this far. I look in front and forget to reflex on the difference I've made to get there. Or I want better, I need to learn to be happy with where I am, and it's definitely a work in progress..

Have a great rest of Wednesday!

PAM - Can I print a copy of that blog so I can post it in my house? I think it would help if I could see it more often.

I am so very tired today. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Harry Potter gave me bad dreams. emoticon I'm reading Prisoner of Azkaban and woke up drenched from a dream of some creepy guy coming after me. I fell back asleep the woke up an hour before my alarm. After half hour of not sleeping again, I decided to just get up. I was at work by 6:45. But, I do have to leave early anyway as we have both kids' conferences tonight!

I did not do well last night. emoticon I had to make cookies to take to conferences and I jut could not keep my hands out of the dough!!! It was so yummy!! Between that and not exercising, it was not a good diet night for me. Oh well, moving on to today.

It is really cold here today. I just ran to fill the van with gas and was just freezing! The wind is so bitter! Every year I ask myself why we don't move our family to a warmer climate! LOL

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Hi team!!,
boy is cold. Its 42 outside and 62 degrees in the house. I refuse to put the heater on until after TG. Now I know this is not cold to many of you but to this Californian its freezing. I don't even want to get out of bed.

AMANDA, Oh my goodness you are being so hard on yourself. you have been doing fantastic!!!! 7 pounds is great. emoticon You shouldn't lose weight to fast. The chances of gaining the weight back goes up when we lose it to fast. The idea is to learn how to live with your food. When people are to strict they tend to binge sooner or later. Personally I go out to dinner once a week with my mom and eat whatever I want. I divide my meal in half and take it home. mom and I have a decadent desert and split it. Please read my blog "Make friends with your food" if you haven't already. Many have found it very helpful. I'm so proud of you. emoticon

PATRICIA, I'm so happy you get to spend another day with your GS. Isn't it grand? I can't wait til I see mine again

Vickie, I think you're right. Those extra workouts you did in the sun probably were calorie burners. Well deducted emoticon

Hi team,

The last few days have been hectic and I missed getting on here. But it's starting to slow down so that's better. I don't like the stress, it's easy to overeat when my mind is overly preoccupied but yesterday I did better than expected. But my weekends are still my downfall, I work so hard and do so well during the week and the weekend breaks it. Whether it's not drinking much water or eating junk food or emotional eating at night, it's all weekends that I struggle to control myself... More focus will have to be put into my weekend nutrition so I continue to lose this weight and get healthier.

I am done my BLC challenge today, and managed to lose roughly 7 pounds while participating. Which is amazing for me! :) Though lately the scale hasn't moved much and it's going down but by very small amounts.. So I will have to look at what I can improve and see if some changes will help.

Hope all are well today!

Amanda

Happy Tuesday! I got a good, hard 30 minute workout in last night. I did it right away when I got home from work, which helped me not have to force myself to do it later, after the kids are in bed and I'm ready to relax!

I've been trying to figure out what the difference is between my workouts now and back in July/August/September when I was really dropping the weight. It occurred to me that back then we were doing a lot of work on our yard (trenching, filling in with dirt/rock) so I was doing a TON of hard work outside in the hot sun, using shovels, carrying buckets, etc. So, as it's going into winter and we're not doing that hard outdoor work anymore, I probably have to accept that I need to add a little more indoor workout and/or the weight is going to come off MUCH slower. *sigh* Is it spring yet?? emoticon

I hope that everyone has a wonderful day. I've got a lot of work to get done and a webinar from 10-12. emoticon

I'm doing fair. Last night I didn't eat dinner because I wasn't hungry. I'm never going to do that again. I snacked ALL night long. Pretty upset at myself but tomorrow is another day and I just need to eat dinner to not do it again. Other than that nothing new to report. emoticon

HOODIECAT, emoticon emoticon emoticon To the best team on SP!!!. I'm a bit prejudice you understand. I'm sure the nightmares are do to stress. Don't be to hard on yourself. emoticon on the new size 5!!! By all means get rid of those fat clothes. I decided that after losing 100 pounds I was not ever going to gain weight again. I gave away all my clothes that didn't fit. Now I did gain 20 and I've lost 5 of it. I couldn't let myself gain much because if I did I would have to buy all new clothes and it forces me to be on my guard. Bottom line, don't listen to those loads of people. They are not looking out for you and encouraging you as people should do. Your doing great. You go girl. Your going emoticon

PATRICIA, So glad you are feeling better. We all feel off when our bodies are off. Have a great week.

VICKIE, So glad you got a chance to talk with your DH. Communication is important.Congratulations on all the exercise this weekend.

CARRIE, Glad you are feeling better. You are being so in control lately. You go girl!!!

DEBBIE, Nice to hear from you but so sorry to hear you are not feeling better. I hope you feel better soon.

Good Monday morning team!

Thank you for all of the support. I suppose if my marriage was "perfect" then there'd probably be something seriously wrong! LOL. DH and I did get a good chance to talk yesterday. He knows that he needs to change and that he's depressed and has anxiety. He is trying to get into the doctor for help. Hopefully that happens soon.

I had a pretty good weekend. Got in a good 30 minute HIIT workout Saturday and then split and stacked wood for about 3 hours + yesterday. We split with a machine, but it was still some definite strength workout on my upper body, lifting the logs onto the splitter and then stacking all of the split pieces.

It sounds like some of you are having a rough time with health. I'm so sorry to hear all that and I hope that you all get better soon.

HOODIECAT - welcome to the team and sparkpeople!! I can't believe that people would tell you your'e going to gain the weight back! That is so hurtful and unsupportive! You will only get supportive comments here!! You're right, if you lost due to medication side effects in the past, then it was probably likely to come back. But, if you are losing now because of lifestyle changes, it is more likely to stay gone! Congrats on your losses! Keep up the good work!!

Carrie, I hope you're feeling much better. Sometimes, we have to obey orders from our bodies, especially if they ask for rest, though 30 m is pretty good! emoticon

Pam, the chance of re-starting at any moment is PRICELESS. I'm glad your body aches due to over exercising are under control. That sounds very familiar to me.

HOODIE, emoticon Those are weird nightmares, though sound a bit like I might enjoy them for a while, to be able to eat like crazy and not getting any calories! emoticon on your new undies!

So yesterday my throat started acting up and I was feeling miserable. What? Again? I went to a Pharmacy and the Dr looked at it and prescribed antibiotics. I started feeling an improvement late in the evening and could finally sleep well. Today, I threw myself to my normal walk. I was resting in hopes of getting well and it didn't work, so...

Happy Sunday's evening! emoticon

Hi Team,

I'm new. Not too much news. I have been on the Spark eating plan for three days now, but today I had to go to Portland unplanned so it was impossible to follow the plan too closely but I went by a store and bought apple slices a bit of peanut butter and a stick of string cheese. Although later I did have a latte and some french fries but that is all the food I had all day long and no donuts. (I love Portlands donut and coffee shops, they are amazing!)

Anyway, I've been having these weird nightmares about losing control around food. Last night I dreamed I was scooping tons of baked sweets into my mouth. Giant sugar cookies and the like. I had a cup of sweetened coffee larger than a margarine bin and I was unhappy about it in my dream and wanted more coffee to go. I just kept eating. I woke up pretty horrified and figured I had gained weight just from the dream. I wake up really not hungry and feeling kinda sick.

In reality today at the store I bought a size 5 underwear. I haven't worn that size since I was a young teenager to my best recolection. My old undies though, I could pull them up nearly to my chin I swear, they were just soooo bad. lol. I told my husband that I thought the time had come to invest in some new ones. I keep putting off getting new clothes because loads of people have said, "oh' you'll gain it all back." And I did lose weight once, and I did gain it all back, but I lost it from an adverse reaction to a medication which is a little different.

Anyway, I'm new on Sparkpeople, *CHEERS* :D

Hi team,
Well I,m so glad we get a restart each day if we need it. Yesterday I not only ate some candy before bed, I got up in the middle of the night and had some more. Its the first time in several nights that I got up in the middle of the night and had something to eat. I wasn't even hungry. The good news is I went to the gym for the first time in two weeks. Boy am I out of shape. I tried to take it easy but I still Over did it and my low back hurts and I'm numb down my leg. Not to worry, this has happened before. I need to take some pain pills and stretch several times a day and it should be fine in a couple of days. I'm going to cook some healthy meals today so I have healthy food to eat this week. Something with lots of vegetables and some quinoa.

PATRICIA, I'm definitely been counting my blessings. I can't be made at myself for something I can't control but it is frustrating. Thank you for the great advice though, it is always to get a good reminder.

CARRIE, Contact your doctor and see if this is a side effect of the medication or if this is something your body will adjust to in time. I suggest that you force yourself to sleep less. I know that is hard but your body needs to be retrained and to much sleep makes your body tired. Meanwhile 30 minutes is not bad. You will probably have to work yourself back up to the 60 minutes per day.

Hi team,

I'm sorry that I have been M.I.A. this week. I have been overly exhausted do to a new medication that my doctor put me on. It seems all I can do is sleep. My energy level is slow I sleep about 10-12 hours a day. Working out has become a struggle for me. I just can't seem to help my minutes in. Does anyone have any suggestions that I be able to use so that I can get my workout out in. I try to average 60 minutes of exercise a day. Lately I am lucky if I can get in 30 minutes.
I hope you all had a great week!

Hi Team,
Well I have spent the last week feeling sorry for myself. After all the pain and inability to work out do to my mouth surgery the transplant did not take. The tissue died and was removed. I will have to try again next month. I'm not at all happy. I did make it to the gym today and I'm happy about that.

VICKIE, You have cake and I have candy. I still have a lot of the really good candy hanging around my house. I have been able to restrict myself to 1-2 pieces on most nights. I hope you are able to resist the cake until it gets all stale and needs to be thrown away. Great job on all the exercise. I totally understand about your DH. I was there earlier on in my marriage. He decided he didn't want to be that way any longer and went through counseling. He has to want to change. I pray that the Lord changes his heart.

DEBBIE, I hope you are feeling better soon.

PATRICIA, So glad you are feeling better. Have a great weekend

AMANDA, It sounds like you are doing superb!!! Only so little of the apple crisp. Something like that would be my undoing. I love fruit crisps. I make a killer peach cobbler. When I make it I try to give away as much as I can because I know I will eat it for breakfast and dessert. There are some foods that I have no self control with. I'm so proud of you.

emoticon Team!

Amanda, that was quite an on and off week. Hope you enjoyed the off days. You are very moderate with the apple crisp emoticon Good with your exercise! Have fun Christmas shopping.

Vickie, I don't know what to say, I don't know how marriages work! They are difficult. Every time I know someone is getting married, I can't help it but emoticon A marriage is a never ending work in progress, with a lot of bumps and set backs. Well, some people do end it or have to end it. Lucky the ones who do not find a rocky road in it. When it has cool down, talk it out with him. emoticon

Feeling much better. Thank you. I have rested and it helped a lot. It's Friday! emoticon
