That's wonderful, MoodyKeys! One lb a month is probably what I'm averaging, but I haven't made my scale a big part of my gauging--rather, size of pants and measurements too. I finally broke down and bought a scale after four weeks, which I'm happy about. The small changes really do add up, don't they? Just tracking calories and adding exercise is such a winning combo. We don't even have to restrict ourselves that much! I eat at the high end of my caloric range, but I have still managed to lose inches and some weight.

tomorrow starts day one of the 4th month of being on a healthier way of eating . I lost an overall amount of 10 inches from my mid section. I really haven't lost a lot of weight, 12 pounds. well a pound a week , 4 pounds a month aveage for the first 3 months. that works for me.

Hi everyone.

I just posted what I thought was a great introduction and response here, but my Mac deleted it before I could post it. So let me just introduce myself and say that I am learning too. I hope that everyone has found some sort of encouragement along the way to keep her working hard to change habits and, along the way, her body. To think that we're changing our behavior by following steps that have been layed out for us by professionals is pretty amazing. That is probably the greatest gift of all.

Hi Laura,
Yes, I also find that the act of recording the info about good and exercise habits and amounts is helping me become accountable. Today was a bit of a step backwards emotionally, but I stayed the course by eating healthy. Thanks for acknowledging my progress. It is very helpful during the very rocky beginnings. Kate

That's wonderful progress. Way to go!

It's amazing how just logging what I eat and my exercise really seems to make me feel more accountable for my actions. Hopefully its the same for you.

Keep up the good work,
Laura

Hi everyone in our new group. Just wanted share my progress. I haven't yet made all my new habits consistently, but I am pleased that there is some forward momentum. I am getting more exercise, almost daily, and l look forward to increasing the amount and intensity of my activity as my arthritis allows. I've really cut down on portion sizes...I didn't realize how quickly calories increase. And I am slowly replacing some foods with healthier choices. It is a lot to change all at once, but I am stepping lightly on a healthier path. I'm still not planning my meals, but with the increase in stamina from exercising I hope this will improve soon. I don't have a scale, so I will have to wait until my next visit to my physician in a month or so. Thus it will be a surprise. I'm going to watch the muscle strength increase. And I will be jumping up and down when I can get eight hours of sleep!!!
Have a successful and happy day.
Kate
