I take two Tylenol PM every night. Plus one of my blood pressure medications is taken at bedtime because it is known to cause drowsiness.

I don't take any sleep aids nor do I want to. I took one of my husbands Ambien's last week and I got about 3.5 to4 hrs. and I felt lousy the rest of the day. No more.

I used to take Trazadone, but it caused me to gain a lot of weight. I now take melatonin, but sometimes add 50 mg of benadryl if I know I need to be rested the next day.

I take a combination of Rozerem and Xanax for sleep and now I sleep the sleep of the innocent. Whoever coined the phrase "sleeps like a baby" obviously didn't have one. Rozerem is a drug companies new twist on melatonin. The Rozerem or the Xanax by itself doesn't work for me but together I'm shortly in la la land. I've been on them for a long time and have never had the need to increase the dosage. Once I forgot to take my meds with me when I visited my mom out of state for two weeks and while I didn't sleep hardly at all I didn't have type of withdrawl symptoms. When I awake in the morning I'm refreshed and don't feel hung over. So I'm quite happy.

That's a good tip about the tart cherry juice. I've never heard that one before, I'll have to try it.

great! I sometimes try and not use it if I've had a really busy day only because I believe our bodies get use to it and after a while may not work so well-so glad you slept!

Hi all--

Per pharmacists advice, I took 2 3mg Melatonin last night and slept like a baby! Yep almost 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep! I found out that u can take up to 6mg of Melatonin at night, according to him. So, that's what I did. I guess the 3mg just wasn't enough. So, if anyone is interested, 6mg worked well for me! Have a great day! emoticon

Hi, I have been using ear plugs for the last 4 nights which seem to be helping with my sleep.

You will have to let us know if the Melatonin works for you, I have tried it and it really didn't help me with sleep.

I trust my pharmacist. He advised me to take 2 3mg Melatonin tablets tonight. So, that's what I'm gonna do probably around 9. He said it shouldn't "knock me out" which is my other fear...Lol. I have my appt. early and I have to get up with my stepson so that's why I'm gonna take it a little earlier. It's the most bizarre feelings I'm getting. IDK..I'll follow his advice and hope for the best. I'll let u know how it works...Maybe it will help someone else out there..Lol

I take melatonin too, my Daughter has had the same problem and have often wondered maybe just maybe we are not a night time person to sleep! it may be that like 3rd shifters sleeping during the day is what works for them BUT I can;t sleep at all during the day so that blows that theory! glad at least your able to talk to someone who eventually may be able to hep you. keep us posted!

I am desperate...I can't sleep. This insomnia is exhausting me. Goes without saying, right? I have been on several sleep pills..ambien, trazadone, mirtazapine, currently melatonin. IDK what to do. I just can't fall asleep. The melatonin gives me sporadic relief. I am looking for advice on some kind of sleep aid that is consistant. Any advice? I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and would love to share some info with her. I'm not sure what else to try. The mirtazapine was my last one and it worked for awhile and I think I built up a tolerance and now it doesn't work at all. Trazadone (200mg) did nothing but make me feel hungover. With the melatonin I stay asleep and feel ok in the am. It just doesn't work everynight. I stay away from caffeine at night (mostly after my AM coffee--I cut out soda), I don't smoke before bed. I try to have my last smoke around 8 and go to bed around 9-10..I even bought a sleep mask. I don't sleep with the TV on and I'm not in pain. Like I said, I'm just looking for input from anyone who is taking something that gives u a consistant good nights sleep. Homeopathic? Prescription? Any and all advice is SO welcome...Thanks
