Kris, I read something that said not to drink water right before bedtime. I don't do that anymore, but I have to have a nighttime sip of water out of habit. Thankfully water agrees with me when I drink it during the day time. I'm sad to hear that it aggravates your reflux.

Sodas and Ensure really messes things up for me. I am not a soda drinker, but if I drink a little sprite due to nausea, it cures the nausea, but hurts in other ways. I used to could tolerate Ensure, but not anymore.

Hi Kris! Thank you so much for the info!! I bought some Activia. I love yogurt. Now I have to keep some in the fridge all the time for the reflux.

I know what you mean about the bending, etc. My doctor that used to recommend home remedies for certain things relocated and I miss her. emoticon

I must confess....I have not been watching my diet lately and I am paying for it dearly. I have to control the emotional eating.

Thanks GOANNA2! I've cooked with fresh ginger a couple times in the past. I will get some and try eating it raw!! There is nothing like natural remedies. emoticon

Thanks again!

You posted just as I was writing mine - LOL!

If I am having a burning episode, water actually aggravates it and I can't have anything acidy - it makes it worse.

"sipping' on a little yoghurt can be a big help to ease the burn and the throat issue. I told my brother-in-law and he said that his Dr had just told him the same thing. All I generally need is 2-3 teaspoons, but each teaspoon makes 2-3 swallows' worth. If the burn is way beyond that, then I use Mylanta, but otherwise it is well controlled with Omeprazole and watching my diet, plus not pushing pressure on my digestive tract soon after eating - as in no leaning over reading the newspaper on the floor or exercises involving bending ...(oh - forgot - don't do those types of exercises - LOL!)

Water seems to be the best and adding some lemonworks too.
Also try eating some fresh ginger. It's a big help to me when my
stomach is really bad.

I've tried Gaviscon, but I gagged the last time I tried it. I though I was going to throw up. Someone I used to work with uses it and she loves it.. I was having a really bad refulx at the time just as I'm having now. It's my fault, because I had no restrictions. I ate late and ate too much junk food. I've finally learned. I have been drinking lemon and water and it has calmed my throat big time. I guess I will start drinking 1 8 ounce glass of lemonade with one of my meals.

I will slowly get off of the antacids and make meal changes.

I don't take Tums either. I do use Gaviscon if I am at home and
the Nexium doesn't do anything.

Thanks! I take Aciphex, but it's $50 for 30 and that is very expensive and that's my co-payment. I will look for the Prevacid. I am also trying home remedies. It would not hurt. My co-worker would take her prescription medication along with Pepcid over the counter antacid.

Thanks everybody!!!

I found that the prescription strength Pepcid twice a day plus an over the counter Prevacid works great at controlling my acid reflux.

Thanks ya'll!!

I see my doctor Tuesday. I have a sensitive stomach and some things I cannot tolerate (for years). I wish I could find a magic cure for this acid reflux nightmare.

I don't use Tums.

Do you use them quite a bit? If so, perhaps you would be best advised to see your Dr!

Does anyone else feel sick due to the amount of calcium in tums? Every antacid comes with calcium. I prefer taking calcium separately so that I can control the milligrams.
