I suffered what seemed like heartburn for years. I was diagnosed with GERD and told to take over the counter medications and was sent on my way. After finding no relief and tired of the constant suffering, I sought out Mayo clinic and was diagnosed with esosinophilic esophagitis, which mimics the symptoms of GERD, or can sometimes cause GERD. It's an allergic condition, and after seeing an allergist, is was determined that my allergens were airborn things like pollens, trees, and molds. Specifically I am allergic to pretty much every primary airborn allergen in the SouthWest, which is bad news, because that's where I live.
It's funny, because we're all told to monitor our diets so carefully with heartburn, yet mine ended up not being food related. Anyone else here have this condition?
