Thanks all. I appreciate your knowledge and words of advice. I guess my next step will be to find a good dr and get it checked out. :)

I have had the same symtoms for years. It feels kind of what a hear attack would feel like. Yes, I have been checked by my drs.
The only medicine that helps me is Levsin SL, its sublingual under the tongue, so it works fast. It is usually prescribed for IBS. But it does not help when I get lower abdominal cramping, I take Librax for that.
Ask you dr. about trying Levsin SL, its generic is very low cost.
Hope you get relief.

It sounds like you need to see a GI specialist ASAP! You need to get to the bottom of this really fast so you can get some relief.

Welcome cPolson; I would recommend that you see a esophagical specialist and not a GP. Have him do an endoscopy, your asleep so you don't feel anything. Its really a breeze and get to the bottom of this. This is not the norm. Good luck.

I thought I would put this out there for some feedback. I have been suffering off and on with what feels like cramping in the Esophagus. I will wake up just shortly after falling asleep, or in the middle of the night with the cramping sensation. It feels like someone is twisting or wringing my esophagus and the pain will radiate up into the jaw and then down below the ribs and under the ribs on both sides. The cramps will last sometimes up to a minute and then dissapate and then come back again. The other night I was up ALL night with no relief. I tried Pepto Bismal, I tried acid reducers...nothing worked. I ended up missing a day of work because I was so very tired. I told my doctor about this several years ago and he just said "Sounds like Acid Reflux" and gave me a prescription for Zantac. That seemed to help, but I have been having these same attacks off and on for years and there is not set pattern for what brings them on. Does any one else have these? Do you think this is an AR problem? I am tired of hurting!
Thanks
