Have a great trip Steve!

Here on the Delmarva, it is sunny but oppressively hot! At 11:00, it was 90F / 32C, dew point at 76F giving us a heat index of 101F, heading to the upper 90's this afternoon. OUCH!

Got out for an early AM 10 mile run -- 6:00AM! Run was going well until I inadvertently lost my water bottle somewhere around mile 5.5, so I decided to slow my pace to avoid dehydration / heat stroke. DW and I are doing house cleaning now, DD #2 and her BF will be here around 2:00PM, then we are heading to the Delaware State Fair for a Jeff Dunham show!

Have a great day gents!

It's supposed to be triple-digits here today and for most of the week ahead. I'll be inside most of the day, getting laundry done and packing for my trip this afternoon down to Orange County in southern California. Flying from Sacramento is pretty easy, but it's a 90-minute drive to the airport, plus parking and TSA security lines, then a tram to the terminal. I'll be getting lots of walking in.

The conference is in Irvine, and starts Sunday at 10am through Thursday at 2pm. Every minute is planned, and there will not be a lot of downtime. I'm trying to gear up mentally for it, but I'm also planning for a very relaxing Friday once I get back home.

Have a great Saturday, and enjoy the day, however you spend it!

Finished my dawn stroll throughout the neighborhood and then some light yard work; now I am sitting our on my Shelby Township, MI, deck, in the shade, with clear, blue skies above and calm conditions. My deck thermometer says 81F at 10:30 am. Today's forecast is for temps to rise into the low 90's by 3pm/4pm with 55% humidity. By that time the sun will be on the deck and I will be inside.

High of 95 today with thunderstorms likely this evening on the eastern shore of Maryland. Heat warning goes into effect at 11 a.m. until Monday.

Last evening we figured out a rational sowing schedule for fall crops based on first and last dates to plant fall vegetables for our region that we got from Clarks Seeds in the Dover area.

This evening we plan to attend the 4-H auction at the Kent County fair.

Stay cool.

Yep heat wave on the way here in DE as well. Day 1 starts today with temps in the low 90's and humidity on the rise (current air temp is 79F and dew point at 74F!).

On tap for today: AM yoga at the Y, breakfast, work, run a few errands, and more work. Tonight: Do some house cleaning as we have company throughout the weekend, then take out from one of my favorite places where I get homemade potato chips and a wonderful ahi tuna salad!!

TGIF gents!

It is going to be in the 90s today on the eastern shore. And humid. Thunderstorm tonight maybe. Heat wave coming this weekend!

I canned bread and butter pickles last evening. We have cucumbers galore.

Today I will plant northern beans and sweet corn. I will cultivate and weeds as well. I hope to get a good day of outside work in, changin two or three times because of the humidity.

Tonight I will can potatoes and simmer some old hens we butchered.

Enjoy your Friday!

Heading to Santa Rosa, where the forecast is 91F today, just a few degrees cooler than the 94 predicted today here in Clearlake. We're going to take my sister and brother-in-law to either the Charles Schulz Peanuts museum or the Luther Burbank Gardens, after a quick stop at the eye doctor. Driving back after lunch so they can head back home to Sacramento. It has been a nice visit with them, but I need to get back to healthy eating!

Tomorrow I leave for southern California and my weeklong new college administrators conference. Not the way I wanted to spend my birthday, but it will be fun and enjoyable training.

Have a fantastic Friday!

75F now, clear 97F for the high, heat advisory's continue through Wednesday.

I will be finding our what Montreal is like in the summertime. To commemorate I have been collecting Expo's trading cards from various seasons.

FINALLY - tomorrow I submit my 15K word story to my publisher. This project has taken twice as long as my first book. One of my Readers said that my first work was very Hemingway - written with short, descriptive sentences, lots of dialogue. My new work is more character driven than plot driven. Hmm, didn't know I did that.

Week-end coming up - prepare to enjoy.

High of 89F today. We are driving down to Middletown and then up Cobb Mountain to see the damage from the Valley Fire last September. Tonight we'll head to Kelseyville to hear some live music, then head to a pub in Lakeport for dinner. It has been fun to hang out with my sister and brother-in-law. Good people, easy to be around. Family isn't always like that.

Have a great Thursday!

Temps will hit high 80s today hut it already feels oppressive outside on the eastern shore of Maryland. Thunderstorms are predicted for tomorrow evening and a heat advisory for the weekend.

We will visit the goat show at the Kent County fair this afternoon. Otherwise it is weed management and some planting today.

Enjoy your Thursday. Don't plan any strenuous outdoor activities for the weekend if you live on the east coast.

Cooler this morning but warming to 95F. Completed 8-mile jog this morning. Met with my friend and former coworker yesterday, but the decided against working with him. The work was too easy-mostly research and cut and paste--something for an intern to do and cheaper too. Grilling burgers for my grand-kids today.

78F now, 96F later w/heat advisory.

Yesterday I felt rested and lots of energy. Instead of my usual 15 minute 'power' walk at the Y, I did 25 minutes inside, then another 15 outside at the park. I had some errands to run, so I walked for most of them. By supper time I had logged 3 miles. It would be nice if I can keep that up. We'll see.

FINISHED the re-write! Now its doing the grammar checks and reading it aloud. Then its sending it to my publisher. I'm anxious to start another writing project.
Through all of the drafts and re-write, I did learn from my mistakes. I'll try to not make the same one's twice.

I have talked myself out of doing any yard work today. I knew I could if I tried.

I made homemade Tex-Mex chalupas last night. With the left overs I'll convert them to a New Mexico style sauce for pasta tonight.

Its Thursday, meh.

It was 91F today as we drove around the lake, sampling wineries and enjoying the scenery. My sister and brother-in-law are a lot of fun, but some of our "family" discussions get a little intense. I hope tomorrow is less stressful and emotional!

It was an odd day for me today. Weather was fine ... warm but not oppressive. High in the mid-80s.

We had an errand we needed to do this morning and then stopped by the library. We got home after noon, had lunch and I felt totally fatigued. I took a long nap and did not get out into the garden until about 3 p.m. I worked until dark but, still, is was a short work day.

Well, tomorrow is another day.

It's been a little cooler here with a high will only be 92F with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Got a call from a former co-worker asking for assistance on a project he's working. I'm a little averse to working and the stress associated with it -but will meet him today. I guess I'll do him a favor--for the right price.

Partly sunny, 75F / 24C, dew point at 72F, heading to the low 80s with a chance of thunderstorms. Had a brief but nasty storm move through overnight. Woke me and the puppies up.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, work, run (did not run yesterday due to work), and more work. Tonight: Hoping to get out, but we shall see how the day goes.

...and useless emoticon .
In fiction writing, a writer should be able to show what the adverb would be describing. When I submitted my first story for publication, every adverb was marked through in red. I had to figure out how to show and not tell.

However in non-fiction their usage is mandatory.

High today: 86F.

Enjoying a day off. House cleaning and preparing for the arrival of my sister and brother-in-law. Watched some of Stephen Colbert's show last night with the first night of the RNC convention. That was enough coverage for me. I don't care to watch the DNC convention next week either.

I'm trying to figure out what's the problem with adverbs. They are incredibly useful.

Rain, thunder, lightening was intense but brief last evening on the eastern shore of Maryland. We may have another thunder storm this evening. Meanwhile it will be hot and humid with a high of 90 or so.

I am caring for the fruit trees we planted last fall, pulling weeds and loosening the soil around them. It is taking longer than I would have imagined. Maybe I'll finish today after a run to the feed store.

Also the mower part should be delivered today so I can finish mowing.

I quit early last evening because of the rain and we watched "Spotlight'" a movie that made me long for the days of serious investigative journalism.

78F now, humid, 94F later with a heat advisory.

Wife will be busy today, mostly out of the house. I'll be doing what housekeeping I can.

Need to put in another hour on rewrites. It's amazing the really dumb mistakes you find that you made in your earlier drafts. Examples: I repeated a chapter, two characters have vanished, I commuted the biggest sin in fiction writing-I used adverbs. So rewrite a chapter, either kill off two characters, or write them out completely, or somehow revive them, then eradicate all adverbs.
No wonder rewrites take longer to do.

Enjoy today, if you must.

Another scorcher today. Already 86F / 30C at 10:00EDT, dew point at 77F giving us a heat index of 96F, heading to the mid 90's with heat index well into the 100's.

Due to the heat forecast, I got out for an early AM 4 mile run. I am not a morning person!

This is also supposed to be a day off for me but I left too many loose threads last Friday and never did any work over the weekend so I am paying the price this morning. Just about got things wrapped up and then heading out to do some gardening. This afternoon I have a much anticipated and needed massage appointment! Tonight: No idea yet...

Have a good Monday gents!

The cool trend continues with another day of 84F for the high. Sunday is forecast to be nearly 20 degrees warmer, so we'd better enjoy it!

I have a lot to accomplish today in my one day working this week. Some purchasing tasks, budget management, scheduling planning, plus a long check-in with the boss now that she's back from vacation. Let's rock!

Have a great week!

Monday morning on the eastern shore of Maryland and the humidity is already 92 percent. Temperatures will hit 93 or 94 degrees today. There may be a thunderstorm tonight but probably after dark.

I've been weeding and watering our fruit trees planted last fall. It is taking forever. But it is good work.

Have a great July week.

Sunny today on the eastern shore of Maryland with a high of 89. It rained last evening and may rain again tomorrow.

I was distracted in church this morning trying to figure out who'd driven there on the motorcycle parked in the parking lot. I guessed wrong. It turned out to be a grey-haired couple who were visiting because of a baptism. More power to them!

My zero-turn mower is broken. The grass will have to keep growing until a replacement part gets here.

The humidity and heat are a little much. Stay cool and have a great Sunday!

High today of 89F. there's a slight breeze and the lake is very ripply - not at all smooth like it is most mornings. I always wonder what factors go into how the surface appears. Today was fascinate anyone interested in fractal geometry.

The major part of the office move was completed yesterday. I got in over 2 hours of activity according to Google Fit just from the move, including 11,000 steps and 2.7 miles distance. Today we'll go back to hang the artwork and move the papers on my desk (very carefully so everything stays in the same spot - OCD, you know).

Hoping for some down time today to prepare for work tomorrow. I am taking Tuesday-Friday off to spend time with my sister and brother-in-law, who are coming up for part of the week.

Happy Sunday!

77F now, clear skies, light breeze to stir up the humidity, 94F later. No precip in the forecast for the next week.

Wife due back sometime today.

Over to MIL's today to set her remote for only six channels. They have DirectTV at her assisted living apartments. 77 channels, totally confuses her. I may stay for lunch. They have a chef that uses mostly local meats, veggies, and fruit. He cooks meals to order.

Found out one of my former high school military history students opened up a private meat processing business. He just got certified by the USDA as an organic meat processor.
It looks like I'll be buying my meat products locally for awhile. Right now he's selling lamb, goat, chicken, and pork. Yep, I'm gonna buy some goat and put it in my smoker.

Sweaty Sunday.

Partly cloudy to start the day with 67F in Utica, MI. High will be in the mid 80's today during my round of golf at The Orchards.

Partly sunny and 88F / 31C at 13:00 EDT, dew point at a very uncomfortable 78F giving us a heat index of 102F. High for the day at 92F with a 30% chance of thunderstorms.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, 10K race, house cleaning, and mowing. Finished the 10K race at 1:05:48 (10:26 per mile pace) -- given that it was 79F air AND dew point at 08:00 EDT, I'm not complaining.

Tonight: Guessing we'll do takeout. Probably our favorite place where we get freshly made potato chips and I get an ahi tuna salad (DW gets a hamburger salad).

Have a great rest of your Saturday gents!

Today's high is a little cooler, just 94F.

Today's projects include cleaning the house, getting a couple appliances repaired, then heading to the office to help my boss with a relocation. She is taking over a space around the corner and a little off the beaten path, and I'm going to move into her current office, which is a bit larger than my current office. Lots of lifting and walking, at least I'll get my exercise in!

Have a great Saturday!

Hot and humid on the eastern shore of Maryland with a high of 91 or 92. Possible showers this evening.

I need to mow, plant more sweet corn for a fall harvest, and weed our fruit trees. Good work for a Saturday.

My eating discipline has slipped a bit. I need to tighten up.

I have been spending too much time watching United Methodists elect bishops via live stream. I've been doing some stress eating but I am pleased by the election results, most especially on the west coast!

Hope you have a stress-free weekend.

68F now, no breeze, humid. 89F later slight chance or rain.

Wife heads back home today. She should return either late tonight or tomorrow morning. So sometime this evening I need to power up the vacuum , get out the Swiffer, and load the dishwasher. If I knew how to operate our new washer and dryer I would do a load of clothes. But she needs some fun when she gets home.

Felt sick yesterday afternoon, so not much walking.

Today is Farmers Market in the Park. Need to stock up on fresh, organic veggies and eggs.
Last week there was a lady selling her homemade breads. They were DELICIOUS. I asked if she gave baking lessons. She said she would think about it.
I do not bake. It's more science than fun. But, I believe I can be taught.

Saturday, but I'm not scared.

It has been a hot and humid day.

This morning I butchered chickens and it took me most of the morning. Without special equipment, it is slow work. Then I tried to fix the lawn mower, got really tired, took a short nap, woke up and fixed the mower successfully, and mowed some of the lawn.

Then I had to quickly feed the animals and shower because we were going to friends for dinner.

Now I am home and watching the last inning of the Nats' game.

Hope you had a good day and have a great weekend.

Steven, you are a good son-in-law!

I do have OCD, and even I don't think I would be successful as a re-writer for a novelist! Yikes!!! Good luck with your edits.

It's going to be another warm day - 98F is the high. Steve wants to go to Ukiah to shop for my birthday present, but he insists that I come along. Do I have to? I'm technically off today, but the boss sent about 10 emails last night (she was at a conference all day yesterday, and again today), and was getting caught up with her inbox until about 10:30pm. So I've already done a few tasks this morning.

Happy Friday! What happened in France was horrible. These attacks are happening all too frequently. Prayers for the victims and their families.

68F now, cloudy - warm - humid, no breeze. 88F for the high, possible thunderstorm early evening or late afternoon ( the same thing, I know).

Dinner with MIL yesterday went Ok. She did not know who I was. I had to keep reminding her. She got into a nonagenarian argument with a lady. MIL insisted the lady wasn't at lunch yesterday; the lady insisted she was. After a couple of minutes of this funny/sad comedy, I got my MIL to go for a walk with me.

If you have OCD or anal-retentive tendencies, and you enjoy them, then being a re-writer for novelists could be a nice part-time job. I am neither. Re-writes, Aarrghh!!

Since its Friday, keep it to yourself.

Sunny, a tad less humid (dew point at 72F), but already at 81F at 08:00, heading to the mid 90's. Hopefully dew point won't venture back into the low 80's today like it did yesterday. We peaked at a heat index of 113F!

On tap for today: AM yoga at the Y, work, trip to the grocery store, and more work. Worked last evening until 11PM. Hoping for a "normal" work day today. Tonight: We did not get out for dinner last night so the plan is to go out tonight.

TGIF gents!

It rained overnight again and the gardens were muddy and unworkable this morning so, after morning chores, we drove to Lancaster County, Pa., for our quarterly shopping trip to Amish markets.

We stocked up on filters for filtering goat milk, wheat for bread baking, bulk loose leaf tea, jars for canning, lunch meats, treats for the chickens, etc.

Amish stores aren't air conditioned so it was hot and humid!

Hopefully tomorrow I can be back in the gardens hoeing and doing more fall planting.

Hope you've had a good Thursday and are having a great Thursday evening.

70F now, early morning rain, now sunny. 91F for the high. More late afternoon rain predicted.

Taking my MIL to the salon today. Will have dinner with her tonight.

Taking in the gym today, abs, lower body circuit. Its very difficult since the most weight I can put on my left leg is 20 pounds. I tried working out in the pool. It's ok, but not enjoyable.

Still doing re-writes. I ought to have been finished, but this is not as fun as writing the first draft.

Thursday? Right.

Forecast today: 101F. Yikes!

Judge's breakfast this morning, then a visit with the chiropractor. A full day at work, and then home for the 3-day weekend. A few things might be happening on Saturday and Sunday that will be fun and festive.

Happy Thursday!

It's a steam bath here on the Delmarva! 77F / 25F, dew point at 76F, heading to the low 90's with heat index going over 100F! Good chance of storms later today.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, breakfast, work, run, and more work. Tonight: Planning to go out for dinner tonight. Not sure where yet, but we have not done Mexican food in a while. Given all the craziness at work for both DW and I, a margarita (or 2) sounds yummy!

Another hot and humid day here. It was difficult to run this morning. An allergy flair up zap my motivation. Ran about a miles that retuned home walking. Taking allergy meds and may finished my workout at the gym--if I can find the motivation.
Getting a little frustration in coordinating activities related to the new home construction. Attempting to establish temporary power while arranging the electrician to meet electrical provider at the site. My bank does not want to talk to the lumber company citing security concerns and the carpenter is not retuning my calls in a timely fashion (he'll call me when he doesn't receive the check I holding for him). I know I just have to adjust to the situations and should have it all straightened out by Friday, nevertheless, I feel better just by talking about.

98F today, 100F tomorrow. It's the peak of summer here at the lake.

Went to dinner with friends at our counselor's home. She and her husband live up in the hills, with a large piece of a property and a house that has had multiple additions to the original 625-square-foot bungalow that originally sat on the lot. It's a cool house, and her husband has filled it with all kinds of interesting stuff - fossils, Native American baskets and Kachina dolls. Lots of stories - it was like being in a museum!

Today is a regular work day, catching up on some projects and continuing to work on the Spring class schedule.

Have a great hump day!

Hot and humid with highs in the mid 90s. Heat index at 105. Hurray for air conditioning! Finished a 8-mile run/walk this morning. I think I'll skip the gym today. Footings on new house has been poured, bricklayers laying blocks for foundation. Getting temporary power this week. Weather permitting, framing should start this week.

Partly cloudy today on the eastern shore of Maryland with a high of 86 or so. It looks as if the rest of the week is going to be wet.

I had an empty pickup yesterday after unloading hay and straw so I did a trip to the dump. I always feel better when that's done. We buy booklets of coupons at the hardware store and turn in one every time we drop a load of trash at the dump. I finished our second booklet of coupons yesterday, which means we've been to the dump 30 times since we bought this house in July of 2013.

I am still planting fall crops as well as cultivating.

Be well.

High of 90F here also, but not as humid.

Leaving work at noon today to drive to Santa Rosa to see an oral surgeon. I'm being evaluated for implants to replace four missing upper molars. I chipped one of the remaining back teeth last night somehow - I don't remember it happening. This is how the others bit the dust, no pun intended. I hope I can stem the tide.

Happy Tuesday!

6:45 a.m. and this Ozarks Humidity is already bearing down. 90F for the high.

Weed whacking around the fence this morning. May think about attempting to mow lawn.

Lunch with MIL today, then a Facetime chat with wife, she's still in Houston.

Met with a 'Wellness' Coach yesterday. He suggested I quit thinking in terms of daily calorie counting, and start keeping track of my daily Macros. Worth a good try.

Vacation plans so far: NYC - plays, Mets Game, tickets to The VIEW ( a middle aged chick gossip show), then a train ride north for a walking/eating tour of 'Gastro Montreal'.

Later ----

One more day of nice temps and relatively low humidity here on the Delmarva. Currently 83F / 28V, dew point at 64F. Tomorrow the high pressure overhead moves off the coast and the muggies start their way back in. Will get darn right dangerous later this week.

My annual tech revolt has started. So far the culprits are my Fitbits and my iPhone. I have a replacement Fitbit coming and I did get my iPhone to start back up, but stopping at Best Buy later to have it evaluated.

Hot, hot, humid, & hot today.
Back home in the "It's not the heat, its the humidity" Ozarks.

Lawns are above ankle height. Might feel enthusiastic enough to mow the front.

Today: re-stocking pantry and refrigerator. Water deck and porch plants, work on rewrites.

Carpe' Vino, men.

Sunshine and nice today on the eastern shore of Maryland.

I am very pleased with the section of our gardens where we are growing peppers, melons, pumpkins, and beans. I've planted that section so that I can use our push rototiller for weed management. I rototilled last night and will hoe today. The hoeing is easy when it is just between the plants. There is a learning curve to growing things.

Have a great Monday.

We went for a hike earlier in the day for about 3.5 miles, then came back and washed the car and the truck after lunch. Had a great evening last night with friends, dining on fresh Dungeness crab and salad. It was a perfect day, with a high of around 75.

Today it's supposed to hit 89 and triple digits or close to by the end of the week. Yep, still summer!

We've been invited out for dinner tomorrow night at our campus counselor's house. I'm delighted that we have so many great friends here!

Time for workout and head to the office. Happy Monday!

Weekly check in for me. Starting off the day already in the mid 70s at 7 am. It looks like it's going to be a hot one this week with highs in the low to mid 90s every day and very humid. Maybe a little break on Friday. This is the start of 3 very busy weeks - running two different professional development workshops for teachers back-to-back plus two conferences (one that I am organizing) all running together plus a couple of public outreach events. It should be fun but exhausting.
