74F with high clouds and a slight breeze. Warming to 91F today. Spent and extra hour on the road this morning because I'll be traveling tomorrow and Friday. Going to my hometown to celebrate the life of my Aunt Dorothy who passed away Saturday.

Yesterday we had actual clouds in the sky! I missed the sunset, but it looked like it was going to be pretty nice. It ended up being quite a bit cooler, and today's high of 86F might actually turn out to be that.

More catching up today, plus training my administrative assistant. I'm feeling so much less stress now because of all the work Tracy is taking on; but I hope I don't burn her out too quickly.

Patrick, the growers here say that for a grapevine to produce quality fruit for winemaking takes 7 years. That's a lot of patience. I would guess that you might get some fruit after 3 years, but not in abundance.

Cheers!

After a busy travel week this will be my first full week of classes for the semester. Despite my travels last week I made a commitment to get my daily steps in and was successful. I took a similar trip 3 weeks ago and fell short of my goal for 5 straight days so making my step goal every day on this trip felt great. Looks like my teaching lab has been sufficiently decontaminated so time to start prepping for that. The week ahead looks very pleasant with highs in the low to mid-80s and lows in the mid-60s with a chance of rain here and there. A nice morning to ride my bike to campus so I got in a good 9 mile ride. Hopefully, I'll be able to ride to campus at least 3 times a week but we'll see. Have a fabulous week!

Hey Dean, I am very interested to hear how your grape vines do. I think I have read it take like 3 years before they bear fruit.

Here on the Delaware part of the Delmarva, it is 71F / 22C, dew point at 71F as well, heading to the 90 degree mark.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, breakfast, work, trip to the ver to pick up some more prescription dog food for our boy Tomas (although we are starting to mix commercially available dog food in as well), a 40-55 minute run (may start and end at the vet's office for a different running path), and more work. Tonight: We have leftover Mexican dinner from last evening. Since my bowling season starts on Tuesday, we'll probably have that (DW doesn't like leftovers sitting around more than a few days).

Have a good work week gents!

Yesterday's 88F turned into 94F. Sheesh. Today is supposed to be 88 as well. We'll see.

I'm anticipating a stressful day today. One of our math instructors had to go to the hospital, so he will be missing a few days. He's only teaching one class, and I hope that our full-time math professor can fill in, but he has other responsibilities too. We have few alternatives, but the students can't afford to miss any more classroom time.

We had a great weekend; I was sorry to see it come to a close. Have a great Monday and a terrific week ahead!

High of 87 today. Dew point is 69. Pretty humid on the eastern shore of Maryland.

After church we had a long brunch discussing which fruit trees we'd order to expand our little orchard this fall. We decided to try a few apple trees (which we'd avoided thus far) as well as more peach, cherry, and plum trees. And we decided to experiment with 4 grape vines to see how they do. I'll have to build a trellis. We want a couple more fig trees but we'd like an unusual variety, so that will take more research.

Now it is time to get into the garden. I have a row of carrots to do some filling in in. I love carrots after the frost. They get unbelievable sweet.

Hope your Sunday is going well.

Sunny skies and 83F / 28C, dew point at an somewhat uncomfortable 73F giving us a heat index of 89F here on the Delmarva, heading to mid 80's.

On tap for today: breakfast out, clothes shopping at Kohls, and grass cutting. Tonight: Hmmm, good question. No leftovers around.

Have a great Sunday gents!

Another day of 88F. Cooling down a little on this last week of August.

We had a great day out on the water with Annette and Shane, followed by dinner and watching the sunset out on the dock with dessert. No work talk, but lots of great conversation. We should do that more often!

Today is laundry day, and relaxing. Planning on watching some movies from the DVR and taking a break from studying today. I'm ready for the week ahead!

Cool, overcast and a slight breeze this morning - 71F at 5:30 AM. Almost perfect for an early morning jog. However, I blew-out a shoe (part of the sole separated) at about 2.5 miles and had to skip-hop my way back home. Expecting rain today with high about 83.
On tap for today church, lunch with DW, and maybe a movie.

Yesterday's high of 86F turned into 93. Today's high is supposed to be 88F. We'll see.

The boss and her husband are coming over this afternoon for a boat ride. The past week was really stressful and took a lot out of us, so we're going out today to just hang out and look at the water, and NOT talk about work. The husbands will make sure of that. I'm looking forward to a relaxing day, once the house is clean!

I need to get some studying in this morning too.

Happy Saturday!

Sunny and a little less humid on the eastern shore of Maryland today. High of 90.

Heading out to buy some cauliflower and broccoli seedlings from a local organic nursery this morning. Only 3 or 4 of my seeds in each category germinated. Did much better with cabbage and Brussels sprouts. Wish I could figure out the difference.

We are trying to decide whether to plant more fruit trees this fall. If so, we'll save by or ding them now.

Have a good Saturday.

A little cooler today, just 86F for the forecast.

A productive work day ahead, then a little study time, and finally an evening in front of the TV. I have a lot of stuff on the DVR to speed through. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, at least until 6am.

Happy Friday!

Interesting, Patrick. Dew point here on the western side of the Delmarva is 76, according to Accuwather. High enough, but apparently not as high as those of you closer to the ocean. High temp today will be 91. I did laundry last night (during the Nat's spectacular win) because I expect to have to change shirts several times today.

Garden work today as well as cleaning the chicken coop and fertilizing next year's garden.

TGIF.

Sunny and humid, 81F / 27C, dew point at a sweltering 81F as well giving us a heat index of 91F at 09:00 EDT! Heading to the mid 90's with heat index well into the 100's! Glad I am not running today -- planning to head out at 06:00 tomorrow for a 15 mile run.

It is 87 degrees at mid-afternoon on the eastern shore of Maryland. I've been working in the gardens most of the day and I've stopped for a break to hydrate and to change my wet shirt. As Patrick said, the humidity is returning.

I've been hand watering, hoeing, planting seeds to fill in gaps in rows. I've been listening to the Presidential podcast on Warren G. Harding while I work. TMI.

Hope your Thursday finishes out well. I plan to work until 7 p.m. and then watch the Nats play the Orioles. (It has not been going well for the Nats.)

Another day, same as yesterday: 92F is the high, sunny and warm.

There was a tornado near my home town in Indiana yesterday. Lots of pictures and videos posted on Facebook. No matter where you live, there's a potential for some natural disaster.

Getting used to the new routine - get home from work, cook a quick dinner, then go upstairs and study for a couple hours. I miss the relaxing night on the couch in front of the TV, but I'm already seeing some results from the changes. I'm more focused, and my brain seems to be working better than ever. I'm staying more on plan with eating and nutrition. Change is good.

Have a great Thursday!

75F this morning expecting 89F with rain returning this evening. Managed 9 miles walking/running this morning- I'll be so glad when the weather cools at bit. The heat and humidity zaps the energy out of me----it's taking half the morning to recover. Consider cutting my morning routine in half.

Our brief cool down and lower humidity has come to an end. Currently 71F / 22C, dew point also at 71F, heading to the mid 80's but real feel well into the 90's. Get even more oppressive on Friday.

On tap for today: AM yoga for abs here at home, breakfast, work, two errands followed by a run at the Delaware State Capitol area (lots of nice tree lined sidewalks to run on), then back to work. Tonight: Trip to Sam's Club and dinner out. Thinking sushi / sashimi!

Have a great Thursday gents!

Beautiful day at our end of the Delmarva as well. High of 84.

Having a late breakfast with Jane at Ellen's Coffe (sic) Shoppe in Chestertown after having blood drawn for tests. We will see how successful my attempts to eat in a healthier way have been.

High of 92F today. Warm and sunny.

Typical Wednesday - getting caught up with work, then come home to more studying. Strength training today. I'm trying to up my weights on the dumbbells, but some of the muscles like it better than others.

One of the changes I've made since I started grad school is to avoid alcohol during the week. I'm more focused and am getting a lot done, and I don't miss those 300+ calories at all!

Dean, thanks for your kind words about the fire. Seeing some of the local maps of the burned areas has been absolutely tragic, but there are amazing highlights. Yesterday morning was the first day of school (a week and a day delayed) for the elementary school kids at Lower Lake Elementary. All the first responders were there, lined up, to greet the students as they arrived. The kids were understandably nervous - some of the portable classroom buildings had burned - but seeing all the firefighters and EMTs gave them a reason for hope. Lots of high fives! It was very cool.

Keep Sparking!

Third day in a row with low humidity, mild temps (75-82) and sunny skies. Great time here in SE MI. Tonight is our golf league, will walk the 9 holes.

Reading about the fires has been unbelievable, Steve. It must have a psychological impact on everyone.

Beautiful day yesterday on the eastern shore of Maryland. Looks like there may be a repeat today. High of 81. Dew point is 61 right now. Partly sunny.

Today I want to get some chicken in the freezer and cultivate some of the garden. This evening, before the Nats play the Orioles again, I'll maybe dig up more potatoes. (For some reason I have a hard time getting excited about inter-league games. They just don't seem right.)

Hope your Tuesday is good.

I wish we had a YMCA here in town. There's one yoga studio outside of town but it looks "iffy."

Today's high is forecast at 93F. Yesterday felt pretty warm, although the actual high was only 91F. That was a surprise.

I loved seeing the students back on campus yesterday. There was so much energy that the air was buzzing. I saw one student of mine from my management class last semester who lost her home in the Clayton fire. Her daughter, who worked for us during our Independence Day party, lost two vehicles. I hate when disaster affects someone that you know.

Stay bright and positive today!

1DAY-ATA-TIME, yoga class is a GREAT idea. While I enjoy following my Rodney Yee DVD's (also a nice way to practice), there is just something special and rewarding about being in a class with fellow yogis and an experienced teacher. I go to my YMCA...if you belong that is a great place to start, otherwise check around your town / city, as there may be classes offered by your local government parks and recreation organization. If neither of those work, you should be able to find a "commercial" class. I would recommend you purchase a yoga mat in advance, as the ones you can borrow at a class may not fell or smell too good.

A nice cool start to the week. Temps around 60 for my morning run and heading for a high around 80. First day of classes for the Fall semester so I'm glad I got in my steps before class. A busy travel week ahead so I'll be doing a lot of online teaching for most of this week and probably not a lot of steps. Dealing with some mold issues in my teaching lab so I'm going to have to delay the start of lab class until next week. Hopefully, we can get started on the clean-up before I head out of town. Have a great week!

Today's high according to the forecast: 92F

Finished the training yesterday about 5pm. My eyes were crossing by the end. The professor thanked me for getting it done early. Today's the official start of classes, but I need a jumpstart if I'm going to be successful.

Today is also the first day of classes on our campus. The week delay because of the Clayton Fire will mean the instructors will have to push to cover all the material with one fewer week of class sessions. The campus will be alive again, and I'm certainly excited about that.

Happy Monday!

High of 81 today with (gasp) less humidity on the eastern shore of Maryland.

It is still wet here from yesterday's rain, so I will probably cultivate around the fruit trees this morning. If it dries off enough I will rototill and hoe in the garden this afternoon. (I am really glad the lawn is mowed but it may soon be time to mow the pastiure.)

Tonight the Nats play the Orioles. Hopefully the Direct TV won't go out.

Have a good Monday.

A storm on the eastern shore of Maryland has knocked out our DirectTV, which we got so we could watch baseball. Bummer. Missing the Nats playing the Braves. I didn't think the storm was that bad. High today is 84.

I taught a class this morning as part of a training weekend. It was a stimulating morning. I came home to discover that the goats had gotten loose and were nibbling on our fit trees. Never a dull moment. Don't even need tequila most of the time.

Hope your Sunday is restful.

Love reading the tailgating episode with tequila fire water. I have partaken with beer on those occasions. From a t-shirt in Cancun, one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.
Not much planned today on Sunday. That's the way I like Sundays.

Ron, that was some welcome home celebration!!! I hope you're able to recover. Drink lots of water. LOTS. Make sure you get your B vitamins too.

Yesterday's memorial service was beautiful - it was like a mini-concert with about 20 guys from the chorus singing Robert's favorite songs. Beautiful eulogies - Robert was an incredibly giving person, and the stories people told of his interactions with children and how he inspired them was particularly moving. If only all of us could leave behind that kind of legacy; the world would be a much better place.

I have a 3-hour video certification to do for one of my grad classes - how to do research with human subjects. That's going to take most of the morning/afternoon, because I'll have to do it in small doses. I can't stay focused for that long here at home - too many distractions! First off this morning: laundry.

Have a good Sunday, and watch the tequila!

74F with a light drizzle - nice touch for my morning wog. Spent yesterday afternoon tailgating before the football game. I think I had one margarita too many--or maybe two too many. I didn't know one's sweat could smell and taste like tequila . I thought I could walk/jog away for the hangover but that only worked while I was wogging. Now that I've stopped, I'm looking for a cure for a quivering stomach and a semi-buoyant brain. I'll never drink again. . . . . . . . . . . at least for the next 24 hours. Happy Sunday gents!

FINALLY, a relief from the heat and humidity with morning temps in the 60's, 7 mph winds, 65% humidity with a high of 74F later today. Golfing University of Michigan's Stadium Course (because it is next to the BIG HOUSE) from 10am to 2 pm. Should be fun.

Flood and fire. Sorry, 1DAY and Steve.

High of 88 today on the eastern shore. Dew point is currently 70 here.

We drove to the Dover, De., area this a.m. to buy sand for a new covered year-round dust bath for our chickens. 3/4 ton of sand on our pick-up cost $21. If we'd bought bags of sand, it would have been $160. Also, we stopped by an Amish supermarket to buy loose-leaf tea.

Lawn to mow. Garden to hoe. I'm sleepy for some reason.

Have a good weekend.

Steve I am glad the fire is getting more contained. Enjoy your day in Santa Rosa!

Here on the Delmarva, sunny, humid, 84F / 29C, dew point at a uncomfortable 77F giving us a heat index of 93F, climbing to around the 90 degree mark. Storms in the forecast tomorrow.

On tap for today: Slept in until 8am (YEA!), made breakfast, filled up the water jugs with filtered water for our Keurig (well water has caused problems in the past), placed an order with Dyson for a replacement on/off switch. This afternoon I'm probably going to head outside and do some weeding out front, which will generate a very good sweat!. Tonight: Leftovers from Thursday dinner.

Have a great Saturday gents!

Fire is now 80% contained, should be 100% by tomorrow. CalFire is handing over control to local authorities this weekend. This was a small fire that did a lot of damage - 190 homes and 8 business lost.

High today is forecast at 95F, but will be cooler in Santa Rosa where we'll spend the afternoon. It will be nice to breathe air that doesn't smell smoky for a little while.

Have a great day, all.

75F humid, expecting 88F and showers. Arrived home late last night. Spending part of the day with two grandsons--maybe an early movie, Will mow the lawn if I have the opportunity - before it gets too hot.. We've been getting rain part showers every day this week so my lawn looks like a jungle. Going to see the Saints and Texans tonight. Have a great weekend gents.

68F now, 80F later, 70% chance for rain.

Heading to the MO state fair in Sedalia today. will meet up with daughter and granddaughters. there's a 50% of rain there, just hope it does not rain out the Lady Antebellum concert.

I cannot ride the rides anymore. In fact just watching some of them makes me nauseous, So they leave me at the Exhibition Hall which is next to the beer garden, then we meet up for a midway 'supper'.

It's Saturday...

Went the college to fun off some copies before classes start on Monday. All my classes are full, so will not be doing the unnessary 5-8 minute speeches and no time for my students to waste their time writing manuscripts or formal outlines.

Day before the week-end, ok?

Yesterday I was mowing round our mail box, bumped the post with the mower, and the post snapped. So I spent this morning putting in a new post.

I bought a contraption that included a metal stake and a cedar post that slipped over it. It turned out to be shaky so I had to figure out how to reinforce it. Next time I'll just get a regular stake and dig a post hole for it.

Dew point is only 70, but when I'd finished that job, I'd perspires enough that I had to change my shirt. Now I'm getting back to cultivating our fruit trees.

When I went outside early this morning, it was still drizzling so little work I could do in the soggy garden.

Current temperature is 87. High today should be 88.

Hope your Friday finishes well. I plan to watch the Nats play Atlanta.

Thanks for your kind words Steve.

73F in Lafayette, LA, partly cloudy with the possibility of afternoon thunder shower. High expected in mid 80s.
Finishing up in Louisiana and should be headed home Saturday AM. I got to get back to my diet and exercise routine. I've been living on little sleep and fast food but plenty of physical activities.

There is still a lot of devastation here in Louisiana but the people are resilient.

Ron, I'm so sorry for what your sister is going through, and bless you for your ability to help her. That had to be a messy job.

It's going to be another triple-digit day. Our first faculty meeting of the semester is today from noon to 2pm. I've ordered a tray of Subway sandwiches and soft drinks, and there will be lots of topics for discussion. We have a tradition where everyone brings a gift for new full-time faculty members. We have three this year, and it was really fun to go shopping for them and come up with creative ways to welcome them in their greeting cards. I think today will be mostly fun.

I'm starting to train my new secretary. She had been very unhappy in her previous job, and she told me yesterday that she's starting to feel better physically, a result of a healthier work environment. I'm delighted - she will be a huge benefit for us, at least for the semester.

Waiting for the latest update on the fire. Fingers crossed. Have a great Friday!

On tap for today: AM yoga at the Y, breakfast, work, picking up a costume for a concert on Sunday, and more work. Tonight: First ever 5K evening race, benefits Boys and Girls Club, then stopping at Subway to pick up some post-race sandwiches.

74F in Lafayette, LA cloudy and threating rain. Spend must of yesterday moving wet furniture and removing carpet and water logged flooring. Should finish preliminary cleaning of the house today. Most of the flood waters have receded from this area, however there is still flooding west of Lafayette . Interstate 10 is still closed so I be here until the weekend. It's a mess!

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, breakfast, work, grocery store stop at lunchtime, and more work. Tonight: We stayed in last night so we are planning to do dinner out. Not sure just where yet. Maybe someplace new?

Have a great Thursday gents!

73F now, cloudy and HUMID, 86F later possible rain tonight.

I got in some good writing time last night. Not so sure about today: relatives from OKC are coming in for dinner. Last time we stayed with them I prepared a five course Sonoran style dinner. They have requested a reprise of that dinner. I'll probably go shopping and then start prepping around 2:00 p.m. Should be ready to serve about 6:30 tonight.

Plantar is on the mend. I see the Doc tomorrow for a follow-up. Still not able to walk for more than 30 minutes before I need to stop.

Episode 2 of my eccentric mystery/adventure book should be released on Amazon.com and Createspace.com next week.

It's Thursday, so?

Yesterday was another 102F day, so today's forecast of 95F is pretty meaningless. We know it's going to be hot.

The Clayton Fire was 50% contained as of 6pm yesterday; a new update should come out shortly. There's a lot of anxiety about where the next fire will start. There have been 3 other fires since Clayton started on Saturday, all around the lake.

One of the TV stations filmed the arraignment of the suspect. His attorney is the instructor of one of our Administration of Justice classes. I don't envy him.

My assignments for grad school are starting to come in. If I'm not here as frequently in the coming months, you'll know why.

Have a great Thursday.

It is wet and shiny outside this Thursday morning on the eastern shore of Maryland. We had .08 inch of rain overnight. Yesterday turned out to be very hot and humid, but I spent the day in air conditioning with some good folk in a workshop. Today's high should be 87 with high humidity.

After morning chores, I plan to clean the chicken coup. I put our 5 gallon waterer in the coup last week (everybody needed lots of water) and it has overflowed so I am going to do a good cleaning and fertilize some of next year's garden at the same time. Then, when it dries off enough, I hope to do more cultivating and hoeing. Hopefully, this evening I will can some pumpkin. We got pumpkins already.

Have a worthwhile Thursday.

The weather has been all over the place. Yesterday's forecast was 97, ended up at 102. Today is 98, so who knows what the final high will be... It's summer in Lake County, also known as fire season.

The man in custody was under investigation for a year. I'm still wrapping my brain around that. The good news is that the campus has reopened, and I am going to work today and for the rest of the week. We have some catching up to do, and regrouping with a delayed start to the fall semester classes. It has been confusing for our students, but we're making the best of it.

Have a good Wednesday, although my body is sure that it's Friday already.

Another scorcher here in the Dover DE area -- 82F / 28C, dew point at a sweltering 82F giving us a heat index of 95F, heading to the low 90's, heat index will easily climb into the 100's.

Due to above temps, got out for an early 30 minute run, and even at 06:00 EDT, it was 80F! As you can imagine, I was pretty soaked by the time I got home. Also got in a AM yoga practice before my run. Currently on a conference call, then heads down work-wise for the rest of the day, with a break at lunchtime to go do some grocery shopping. Tonight: I know DW was going into a hornet's nest at work, which normally means we'll be heading out to our favorite Mexican restaurant for margaritas and some yummy Mexican food.

Happy hump day gents!

A little cooler today with a high of 89 on the eastern shore of Maryland. Thunderstorms this afternoon and/or evening. Apparently by next week this heat wave may break. This would be nice.

I am leading a workshop this afternoon, which should be enjoyable. We will see.

Enjoy your Wednesday.

71F now, clear skies. 84F later partly cloudy.

More writing today.

Finally got the 'mandatory' on-line exams up and running. Division head getting more micro-managerial. She has put a time limit on taking the tests. She doesn't realize or doesn't want to acknowledge that on satellite campus's many of our students are in their fifties and sixties and have little computer test taking experience. If any of my older students can't finish in this arbitrary time frame, I'll adjust their test grades. Sheesh.

It's Wednesday, do with it what you will.

Lafayette, Louisiana 75F and cloudy with the possibility of afternoon showers. Returning to my sister's house this morning to assist here with salvage and recovery of her flooded home. It's absolutely amazing and hard to imagine 20" of rain in two days. That's almost as much rain they received in the first 6 month of 2016.

Have a safe and productive hump day gents.

Partly cloudy day, 85F for the high.

Wife's sister and BIL driving in today. Looks like they booked an RV hook-up at one of the near by state parks. She's here to visit with her mom. I offered to do a smoked rib or brisket supper. But their idea of cooking out involves propane and electric starter. Very sad.

More writing.

Have a more or less Good Day.

It is a tragedy that all that rain fell in Louisiana in 4 days, as much as parts of California get in an entire year. We sure could use the rain out here!

Another hot day, high of 97F, but it will feel hotter. The Clayton Fire is now 20% contained and has not grown from yesterday's 4000 acres. We are still waiting for the evacuations to be lifted so that people can return to their homes and we can reopen the campus. We have delayed the start of face-to-face classes for a week.

The suspect who is believed to have started the fire was arrested yesterday and charged with 17 (!!!) counts of arson. He may have started many of these blazes around the county over the past year. I only hope that someone else doesn't get the idea to continue, now that the one guy has been caught.

Dean, congrats on your involvement in such a substantial project. You must have been beaming with joy at the result.

Ron, prayers to your sister and your family. Such a tragedy in LA. I have a cousin in Slidell that I believe is still above water, but it's a scary time.

Have a great Tuesday!

Sorry your sister got hit by the flood, 1DAY. Flood cleanup is a bear.

Rain over night. Hot and humid today. High of 94. Rain this afternoon, probably.

I'm doing a training tomorrow so I'll be spending a chunk of today with final prep. But first I need to pick up goat and chicken feed and parts to fix a finicky lamp that's driving me nuts. And return books to the library.

After this week, I hope things will be back to my regular routine.

Have a meaningful Tuesday.

Cooler and raining this morning. High expected in the mid 80s. Managed to get a morning run done before rains. Nothing special on track today- anticipate a drive to Louisiana to assist my sister clean up here flooded property--waiting for a phone call.

Good luck on the new house Patrick

Sunny, 76F / 24C, heading to the mid 90's later today with a chance of storms. We had .19" of rain overnight.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, breakfast, work, appointment with the Culligan Man (the injector pump for my soda ash tank stopped working!), strength training at the Y, and more work, Tonight: League bowling meeting at what I hope will be my new house tonight.

We spent the day in Annapolis and DC today. Spouse had a doctor's appointment and then we toured the $5 million building renovation I raised the money for and planned in the couple of years before my retirement. Great to see the results.

It is raining now on the eastern shore of Maryland and I am watching the Nationals playing in Denver. It's good to be home.

Hope you had a great Monday.

A much welcome cool down started this past weekend and should last the rest of the week. Several days of rain but most of it to the north and to the south so we really dodged the heavy rains that hit St. Louis. The first-year students are all settled in and going through orientation week. The gym was packed for convocation so the cool weather really helped. I've been assigned a couple groups to mentor so lots of lunches with students this week.

Canned pasta: it's less crunchy than raw.

Another day in the 90s. There are 1000+ firefighters in town fighting the Clayton Fire that started on Saturday evening. I'm acting as the communications officer for the campus, keeping faculty, staff, and students informed. We are waiting for word on when the evacuations will be lifted. I'll be in trouble if it lasts more than a couple days. I miss my team and my office, although the good news is that today I cleaned out my email inbox down to a manageable size again. Yahoo!

Have a good Monday, and think good things about things that matter to you.

Almost a "chilly" day here on the Delmarva! Just kidding, but the temp and heat index not rising as fast as the past few days. At 10:00 EDT the air temp is "only" 82F / 28C, dew point at 76F giving us a heat index of 89F. Heading to the low 90's with heat index nearing 100. On Saturday we peaked at 122F!!!!

On tap for today: AM run to beat the heat, breakfast, work, mid month to-do's, and more work. Tonight: Playing twilight golf (9 holes) with one of my golf buddies. After that coming home for some leftovers.

Have a good work week gents!

More writing today.

The shoe inserts for plantar seem to be working. I can get around most of the day with very little pain. Still taking 2400mgs of Advil a day to keep the swelling under control.

Cooler and Cloudy today with thunderstorms expected. 74 degrees at 5AM high expected at 85. Feeling better today - finished a 30 (and 47 minutes walking) minute run this morning before the rain showers. Hoping to see pictures of framing progress on NC house today.

BTW Old-fashion Oats is just like instant when one uses a microwave. 2 and a half to 3 minutes and its done. Add some chopped honey-crisp apple, cinnamon, drop of vanilla extract and honey (if you like it sweet) and you got the real deal- Apple cinnamon oatmeal - without the unpronounceable ingredients

Got up this morning at 5:30 a.m. to get some garden work done before the heat hit full force. Stopped mid-morning to milk the goat, feed and water the flocks, and have breakfast. Went back to work and made it until noon when I came in the house soaked with perspiration.

High today will be 95 but the humidity is unbelievably oppressive. I've Not felt well the last several days when I tried to work as long as I could in the afternoon. So,I set the alarm on my Fitbit to try working the early morning hours. Much better.

I've already had my 8 glasses of water today as well as a pot of tea.

Oh, I like oat groats cooked overnight in our rice cooker. There can be no comparison with instant. Like Steve, I like it with cinnamon.

Be well and happy, please.

Steven, what have you started? There is nothing good about "instant" oatmeal. I prefer the real, old-fashioned, cook-on-the-stove, chewy stuff, with added nuts and dried fruits and cinnamon. What Quaker did was a travesty to a fantastic grain! There - was that nice? LOL

It's going to be 97 here today, but I've gotten used to the heat and it doesn't even bother me anymore. Tonight is our monthly potluck group, we are making corn casserole with some added jalapeņos, since the theme is Mexican.

Getting ready for bill-paying and bank-balancing. I'm behind about 3 weeks, although nothing is late.

Have a great Saturday!

1DAY-ATA-TIME, I am no fan of oatmeal either!

This is supposed to be the hottest of the current hot spell. At 11:00 EDT, 91F / 33C, dew point at a merciless 82F giving us a heat index of 113F here on the Delmarva. I suspect it will climb even higher.

On tap for today: Slept in until 08:00, breakfast, housecleaning, heading over to our local orchards for free peach ice cream day. I am supposed to run a 6 mile tempo run today but if I do, it may have to be on the treadmill at the Y inside, as much as I don't want to do that. Probably later today. Tonight: DW brought home fresh jalapeņos from a co worker so we're thinking nachos for dinner tonight. We'll put some ground turkey and other yummy stuff to make a meal out of it.

Have a great Saturday gents. Stay cool!

77F now, cloudy. The thunderstorm went south, but rain still in the forecast.

More BS emails from my division head and Dean of Instruction. Wife read them and even she thinks they are trying to make the course on-line. On-line Public Speaking? Logic down the toilet.

Try to find something nice to say about instant oatmeal emoticon

Third 90's day in a row. Rain tonight, thank you!

Hot here on the eastern shore of Maryland as well. And very humid. High will be mid-90s.

Yesterday afternoon I had to come in out of the heat. Drank a gallon of water. Ate some yogurt. Did laundry and felt better. In the evening I got some more hoeing in.

I am pacing my work today. Probably will spend some time on the tractor which is less strenuous.

Happy Friday.

It hit 100F yesterday, and is forecast to be 95F today. Every day the forecast has been lower than the actual high temperature. Either way, it's going to be hot.

Back to work on Fridays again. I got spoiled during the summer with Fridays off, and it's tough getting back into the 5-day-a-week groove. I am still getting caught up on tasks that were leftover from my two weeks away, but in a week or so I'll actually start having an administrative assistant to help me keep my desk clean. (Will people think I'm not working if I have a tidy desktop?)

Have a great day, and do something fun this weekend!

The summer muggies continue on here on the Delmarva! At 09:00 EDT, it is already 85F / 29C, dew point at an insane 81F giving us a heat index of 101F!! At 09:00!!! Thank goodness for a great A/C system! Air temp heading to 95F, and if that dew point doesn't start dropping soon we'll get well into the 110F - 119F range.

On tap for today: AM yoga at the Y (wonderful!), breakfast, work, errands, more work and hopefully some bowling practice. Tonight: Hoping to get out for dinner, but will depend on how DW is feeling.

TGIF gents!
