Got in my mile walk plus a little and made another trip to the yard waste dump. Added to my short trips to the elliptical and resistance work I got all the exercise in and not too sore anymore.

Speaking of computers once again brings up my deferred maintenance on mine. I've got to force myself to consolidate and update. I've got important files scattered over six or so machines, some of which are old OS and software. If I don't do it and croak, nobody will ever figure it all out when I'm gone. Hope everyone is getting the opportunity to enjoy good weather like we're having here. Some actual fall days before skipping into the bitter cold and other nastiness. Good day to all!

Dave, it was Fortran - a dirty little six letter word. When the Mac came out and my company got a couple (in the early 80's) I fell in love with the computer world. Critical path scheduling became a breeze, I was the company's expert.

Golf this morning with temps in the 60's at first tee and 80's by the 18th green. Clear skies, winds under 5 mph and humidity under 30%. High of 89 around 4 pm, when my rear patio shadows become long. Could be a Long Island Ice Tea kind of late afternoon. We will see.

High of 57F today. It's supposed to be back in the high 80s next week. I thought Fall was here to stay...

Pretty good day yesterday. It was nice to work at the Colusa campus where the Internet is still working. Today we go to the District Office in Yuba City for a morning meeting, then back to Clearlake. I'm going to take off early today and come home and take a nap before dinner, I think.

52 this morning with a high of 73 today.

I am trying to learn how to grow onions. We planted two beds of bunching green onions to overwinter but they took a very long time to germinate and the beds got very weedy. Because the onions are so hard to see, I have to pull the weeds with my fingers on my knees. It is time-consuming work. We also have a bed of leeks that I have torch weeded twice. I am hoping this will help the leeks grow faster than the weeds so I can simply hoe them. I think in the future we will have to grow onions in pots and transplant them to give them a big headstart on the weeds.

If I can get the onions weeded, lots of other things to do today as well.

Have an excellent Friday.

Now I'll pay! Worked in the yard yesterday for a couple hours which got me a little sore, then got up and started again today, then ate and took a walk. Since the weather was just about perfect at seventy degrees with clear skies and low humidity, I decided today was 5k day. Error, Error. Whoever said a little hard work never killed anybody must have been under fifty, 'cause I gotta be at least half dead.

Dennis, were those holes in those cards round or rectangular? The round ones were Rem Rand and that was a whole other can of worms. Programming via a plugboard. My training came from a tech school and was probably tumbling into obsolescence even as I learned. It's now all forgotten as I was 1A draft bait and couldn't get a job in the field when school was completed. One of the local guys I went there with was 4F and got a government job in an unrelated field, but then moved back into IT and retired as head of a Navy Depot IT department. Another was prior service military and he also found work in IT. The fourth of our group spent his career as a union carpenter. In the early years of the computer revolution I rode the bleeding edge and now am lucky to find the power switch if I accidentally shut down instead of restart. Good day all!

62 F at dawn (6:30 am) and 64 F now (7:30 am). Forecast high is 92 F. Our "average high" for this time of year in Tucson is 85 F. Looks like record breaking highs are coming on Monday and Tuesday of next week. 95 F is the record, they say we will be above that, maybe 97 or 98. Either way, it looks like that will be summer's last effort to remind us that we are in a desert. I would rather have this than the current weather back in SE Michigan - the frost is on the pumpkins there.

DW and I need to finally figure out what we are going to do with our Den. Considering a "Murphy Bed" (hide a bed) along the only window and door free wall in the room. There are some great options that include book cases and a hide-away desk/counter when the bed is set up. I will sketch up a couple of ideas for the room and then visit the store/shop that does this kind of work. We only have a few guests in a year, but I want them to be comfortable. We have a guest bedroom with adjoining bath for visiting "couples". But hauling out "air beds" and laying them on the Den floor every time we get additional guests does not seem that inviting.

Chilly day today - high of just 61F. Gotta get ready for fall temperatures eventually, right?

Busy Thursday to prepare for a meeting tomorrow at the district office. I'll be in a workgroup all morning and then head to the other campus for my first visit since the fires hit. Time to get back to normal.

Wow, you guys are making me feel my 64 years. When I started college, only the rich kids had those fancy handheld calculators. I still had my slide rule packed away in a box somewhere. I majored in Farm Operations and Management and computers were no where in the curriculum.

43F in Lake Lake, NC (dew point 40F) and clear. Expecting a high of 72F. Iíve really appreciate visiting this area and look forward to moving here. I lived in urban areas for so long I forget how clear the skies can be without the haze. I also appreciate the night because there is little light pollution hereóso many stars. It reminds me of my childhood.

On tap today: Meeting with the electrical sub contractor this morning and the flooring vendor this afternoon. Probably spend midday at Chimney Rock National Park. Siding installers are having challlenging project finishing with the rear of the house due to the hieghts, uneven terrain, and necessary safety precautions. Checking out one of the local restaurants this evening

I just discovered in Wikipedia that it wasnít until 2001 that more than 50 percent of the U.S. population was using email. In 1998 I was director of communication for an organization that had a group fax it used to notify members of deaths. I added an email list for those who had email addresses to supplement the fax. Someone said to me that they always hated to see my emails because it meant someone had died. ďToo, too depressing,Ē she said. So I started writing little news stories and announcements and sending them out regularly whether there was a death or not, and just added the death notices to the emails when appropriate. I started one of the first email newsletters in my field by accident. That was less than 20 years ago. What a revolution we have lived through!

It was very chilly at daybreak this morning when I got up to prepare for market. Weather app says the low was 45 but there were frosty patches in shady areas. High today hit 69.

Slow day at the Dover market today. Next Wednesday is our last market before it closes for the year. Our Saturday market in Chestertown is year-round and we will try to grow in our high tunnel as long into winter as we can.

Have a good Wednesday night.

My first tech class was "Computers for Mathematics" in 1972 (or something like that). FORTRAN was the language, we had both a remote link via phone coupler (at school) and then for real fun we'd go to the main computer center in downtown Denver and run our punch card programs.

I've given some thought to learning coding, since it seems to be a super hot skill. I don't know if my employer (IBM) offers education for this, though you'd think they would. I'm 99.9% certain it would be easier to learn than FORTRAN was, and it would be nice to have a skill that I might be able to leverage after I retire (which I am thinking will be in 5 years or so).

Anyway, it is another sunny but cool start to the day. It is up to 50F / 10C after an overnight low of 39F again, heading to the 70 degree mark.

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, cooked breakfast for DW and I (it is her birthday so she has the day off!), picked up flowers for her, work, strength training at the Y, quick trip to the car wash, and more work. Tonight: BD dinner for DW along with the inlaws.

Happy hump day gents!

Dennis, boy did that bring back memories! My first computer class was in 1976 - FORTRAN on punch cards. Boy, those were the days, all right! There was no backspace key on the punch card "typewriter" that punched all those holes, and no white-out!

It's supposed to be 80F today and our last warm day for a while. Tomorrow's high is just 60 and 50% chance of rain. That would help the firefighters tremendously.

I wonder what the campus has in store for us today!

Dean - In 1972 I was punching holes in cards and taking them to the one and only computer at Michigan Tech. University to see if my program would run. Usually, not. If one tiny hole was punched wrong, you had to do it all over again. Also, they did not allow those new, hand held, battery operated, programable calculators. Only slide rules were allowed for tests. Not many years later your university required Mac PC's! WOW!!

67F at 5:30 am in Tucson. Will be golfing from 7:48 am to around 11:30 am. Temps will be in the 70's and 80's at that time with low winds, mostly sunny skies and (of course) low humidity.
Today's high should be around 95 at 3 pm.

Got a half hour walk on another near perfect day. A little over sixty with moderate humidity and bright sun. Looking like Autumn now. I may have to call the HVAC guy to start the furnace this year and make sure all is well and do it before it's an emergency if work needs to be done.

Speaking of work, it's time for some major hedge and bush trimming, so off I go. Have a fine day!

It was brisk this morning on our side of the Delmarva, too. Low 40s. High is low 60s today, but lots of sunshine.

Got a load of compost this morning ó 25 yards. Spent most of the morning preparing a place for it to be unloaded and covering it with silage tarp. Then we assembled shelves as part of DWís project of reorganizing the basement. Now I need to harvest for market tomorrow.

Steveís post reminds me that, when I was working at Drexel University between 1978 and 1987, Drexel became one of the first 2 universities that required every student to have an Apple Mac. We also needed to have them in our offices, of course. Requiring students to have personal computers was a radical idea at the time. Today I get that it would be almost impossible for an institution of higher education to operate without the internet.

Hope everyoneís Tuesday is going well.

We've been without Internet on campus since Wednesday. We hope it comes back on today. It was pretty difficult to get anything done yesterday, our first day back.

Great day for walking. I got forty minutes in and went over two miles. It was about sixty with low humidity and a fifteen mile an hour breeze.

Relocated another squirrel today. I think that's about thirty for the year. I thought I had removed all the chipmunks as well, but spotted one yesterday, so I guess the smaller trap is next to come out. I'd let them alone if they didn't try to move in with me every year. They're not very good tenants.

Sort of chilly today. High in low 60s. This morning there was water in the goatsí feeder so I am can nvinced it rained overnight, although the weather apps donít indicate this.

My day: Trip to the dump and the feed store, weeding (hard because it is so damp), a nap, prepared the stable for the young goats and separated them from their moms. Iíll start regular milking tomorrow.

Have a good Monday night.

A high of 86F today as we go into another high pressure zone.

Speaking of high pressure, we will be back on campus today for the first time in a week. I'm feeling a little anxious as we figure out how to keep forging ahead.

Yesterday was a great day, however. Friends invited us over for a spontaneous breakfast. We then took everyone on a boat ride to look at the damaged areas from the Sulphur Fire. Everyone then felt the need to go to a local pub that has boat parking for a bite for lunch and a drink. We sat and looked across the lake at the burn scars with the hope that we are safe for at least another year. We agreed with our friend Diane, who is a firefighter and the only other full-time resident besides us, that even with all the fires, we love living in Lake County and can't envision ourselves anywhere else.

A cool front is moving in the area. It's 62F this morning (dew point 61F), clear, windy and considerably less humid. Expecting a high near 80F.

Headed to the gym this morning for yoga then a walk in the park afterward to enjoy the cool dry weather. Returning home to pack for a week long trip to Lake Lure, NC. Flight leave at 6:30 am so it's early to bed for a very early start tomorrow.

Meanwhile in Lake Lure it's 61F and cloudy reaching a high near 70F as it clears up later today .

Monday, Monday . . .

18 degrees warmer this morning then yesterday. Starting the day at 5:30 am at 73F with the dew pt. at 28 F - so it is rather dry at 18% humidity. Should get into the mid 90's later this afternoon and then an overnight low of 68 F.

Will be playing a round of golf at my home course, Arizona National. The course is getting near perfect condition.

This past weekend was spent nursing my DW through rheumatoid arthritic flare ups over her entire body. She had a lot of challenges just doing the normal stuff, like getting out of bed and holding a cut of tea. We moved to Tucson so that these would not happen because of the warmer weather and dry conditions. So far it has been nice, but not this weekend. We were able to use our (new) hot tub for some relief. It helped, but did not make all the pain go away. We will take it one day at a time............. I am sure today will be better.

Light rain and 59F / 15C here on the eastern side of the Delmarva. Temp was 72F at midnight but cooler air moving in. May get to the low 60's but that is it. Really feels like fall!

On tap for today: AM yoga here at home, breakfast, work, strength training at the Y, and more work. Tonight: HelloFresh dinner, then switching between DWTS and MLB playoff game between Astros and Yankees (DW is a Yankee fan).

OK back to reality for me -- great vacation last week but time to climb back into the work saddle. Have a good work week gents!

75F at 9 am (dew point 73F) expecting at high of 88F then we're in for a cooling trend later this week.

Finished a long early morning walk/jog. Headed to church in a few minutes. Nothing much for the rest the day except watching football.

65 degree this morning with a dew point of 64. Going up to 79 today. Looks as if we may have a week without rain.

Our fall crops are exploding because of the rain weíve had for the past few days but it is hard to keep the weeds in check. Iíll look forward to doing a good weeding.

Our churchís services are usually at 9:30am but today is Homecoming Sunday so the service will be at 11am with a big meal to follow. The bishop will speak. I hope it doesnít last too long into the afternoon.

The only sport I really follow is baseball. Nats had a good run. The last game was a heartbreaker.

Have a good Sunday.

Dave, the best way to de-clutter is to move from Michigan to Arizona. When you have to haul your stuff 1,800 miles it is easy to make the hard choices. Still, we brought way too much "can't do without" stuff with us.

MSU and U of M along with ASU and U of A all won yesterday. My old home and new home college teams were remarkable. Was able to watch all four on TV ! I remember back when it was one "Game of the Week" on Saturday.

55 F at 6:30 am with clear skies, 4 mph winds and a dew point of 25F. Today's afternoon high looks like 95 F - a 40 degree temp change! Our rear yard and patio will all be in the shade by the time the high hits Tucson, making it quite bearable to have some drinks and a meal out on the bar by the grill.

Only got a short walk today, but still made the mile. It was still in the sixties and not as humid. Local government has a bulky item dropoff week twice yearly and today was the last day of the second one that we remembered at the last minute. Two trips with the van certainly helped with clutter indoors and out.

Will try to hit the rack early and make it to church tomorrow. Hope everyone had a good day.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I too hope the wine industry is able to recover. There are many wineries that weren't affected, and the ones that were should be able to rebuild although it will take time. I got an email this morning from my friend John who is 72 and lost his home, a multi-unit building with two rental apartments in addition to his place. He is feeling lost.

Today is warming up to a high of 79F. We are going to our friends' Ann-Marie & Randy for brunch with the guys who let us stay in their home for a day when we were evacuated.

It's time to try to get back to normal.

Hang in there Steve.

74F with fog again this morning. Expecting another hot and humid day with a high in the low 90s.

Nothing special on tap today. Resting and tinkering with my gadgets. Hosting my grandsons today while their parent go out on the town.

Steve, thanks for the overview. What a tragedy! I'm a wine guy and hope that the vineyards that were affected in Sonoma and Napa will recover. I am glad to hear that you are fine, hope your friends pull through this.

57 F in Tucson at 6 am this Sat. with clear skies, low humidity (teens) and mild winds. Forecast high is 94 F later this afternoon. Have a great Saturday all, hope your team wins! BTW - I am boycotting the NFL., but not college football - Go Blue!!!!

Today's high: 73F

The Sulphur Fire, the little fire that was so close to our house, is 55% contained at 2500 acres. The fires in Santa Rosa and Napa are so much bigger:

Sonoma County (including Santa Rosa):

Tubbs Fire: 34,770 acres, 25% contained (this one might be moving north toward our county)
Pocket Fire: 9,996 acres, 5% contained
Nuns Fire: 44,381 acres, 5% contained

Napa County:

Atlas Fire: 48,228 acres, 27% contained
Partrick Fire: 12,379 acres, 18% contained

Mendocino County: 34,000 acres, 10% contained

I'm trying to keep things in perspective. I have friends affected in all these areas, and have not heard from all of them.

The economic damage will take a long time to assess, probably years.

Don't give up on California. We are strong.

Thanks for the condolences gents! I needed to get past the "WHY" of his death. Why does not matter now.

79F at 6 am with clear skies and low humidity (22%). Today's high will be in the low 90's with plenty of sun, but quite pleasant. Grilled Lobster tails, corn on the cob and salad for dinner. YUM!

Sorry to hear about your friend Dennis. My condolences.

The humidity has returned--at least we had 2 nice days. 74F at 7am (72F dew point) with a heavy fog. Expecting a partly cloudy day with the high in the low to mid 90s.

Headed to the gym (as soon as my phone charges up) for Pilates this morning, weight training and the stair stepper. Conditioning my legs for hiking in the Smoky Mountains next week. May mow the lawn later today if I'm up to it.

Today is the day! Friday. . . . . the 13th . . . Boo!

Humidity was over seventy percent I don't think the temp was much above sixty when I walked at around three this afternoon. Got in well over a mile and a half. Took my plastic bag for the headphones and avoided the rain altogether. Maybe the secret is carrying that bag?

Good to hear you're still safe Steve.

Dennis, I had a good friend who was able to retire in his fifties and move to a home on a huge southern lake. He loved to fish and only got to do it for about a year before he also had a massive coronary. In his case, I don't think it was stress but rather our common enemy.. obesity. He blew up like a balloon when work stopped.

Dean, I posted this elsewhere, but I thought you might appreciate it if you've never seen it. It's called Romanesco and is pretty tasty. (DW found it at the Farmers Market.) Like a cross between broccoli and cauliflower, only stranger looking:

High of 65 today. 0.36 inches of rain, most of it overnight last night.

It was a great day to work in the high tunnel. I pulled out some of the tomato plants, some that were maybe 10 or 12 feet long. Iíll need to prune them harder next year. I cleaned up the cucumber bed and started planting lettuce. Some of the tomato plants are still producing so I hate pulling them out but by the end of the month I should have winter crops in there.

Waiting now for the Nats vs Cubs game to begin. Sad to hear about your friendís passing, Dennis. Steve, I hope you all take your time. Crisis is astonishingly fatiguing but we too often donít think we have permission to rest.

Have a great Thursday evening and a wonderful Friday tomorrow.

Dennis, I'm sorry about your friend's passing. Only 53 is way too young. It sounded like his practice was great, but it may have been pretty stressful too. That is heartbreaking for his family.

The sun is shining through the smoke and haze. Our small fire is at 45% containment, but the fires in Napa and Sonoma counties are still burning. One fire climbed over the mountain and was headed into Lake County early this morning. An air tanker dropped a load of fire retardant on it, which we hope will protect the area. We are all on edge and stressed beyond words. I'm having a hard time focusing on anything.

Our campus is closed again today and tomorrow. We hope to go back to work on Monday and really need to, but the campus is without Internet service so we aren't sure what we'll do when we get there.

71 F at 8:01 am with clear skies, plentiful sunshine, 36% humidity and a forecast high of 93 F later this afternoon and an overnight low of 61 in Tucson. Funny, the temp. rarely locks to repeat for 3 hours or more. It is always moving up or down.

Lost a dear friend and my former Michigan dentist to a massive, unexpected heart attack. He was 53 and leaves behind a wife and two beautiful kids, both under 12 yrs. old. He took over his father's dental practice about 20 yrs. ago. His dad was my dentist before him. He built up his practice to handle the very latest in dental care, including in-office implants, major jaw/bone grafts/repairs with a fully certified OR. He was always learning and growing. Such a loss.

. Be careful with the four-letter words Dave! Folks around here have developed a new phobia. Everyone freaks every time the word rxxn is mentioned. We got a year's worth in 4 days.

A little warmer today but still nice. 65F at 7am (Dew point 61F). Itís headed up to 90ish but with low humidity and a lot of sunshine. Going for a short walk in the park later today.

Iíve a dental appointment this morning to install a replacement bridge. The temporary is a pain. I've can only chew on one side of my mouth. Iím going to try and get this done without Novocain if possible.

Iím finalizing plans for next weekís trip to North Carolina

Rained pretty hard a few times today and was at least drizzling most of the day. Humidity over ninety percent and I don't think the temp made it out of the sixties. I had to go to the mall and walk. Only got twenty-five minutes done, but made my minimum plus a little. There is a Gold's in that mall so I may just join there to get some different kinds of exercise when the weather is bad since I'll go there to walk anyway. It's farther than a couple others but would make sense if we have a hard winter. Still pondering. Mother Nature seems to be bashing the nation's coastline, but I figure she'll soon be looking to those of us in the more northerly areas to pick on next. I see dirty pictures on the feeds coming from the north. You know, that four letter word I can't bring myself to repeat.... snxx!!

The predicted rain has not appeared yet but it feels as if it is coming soon. Then we are supposed to have rain on and off for the next three days. High today was in the mid-70s.

It is raining in Chicago where the Nats are leading the Cubs 1 to 0 in the eight inning. They are apparently committed to finishing the game in the rain. The Nats need to win tonight.

Hope you can get home safely soon, Steve.

Be well, everyone. Happy Wednesday night.

Slept fairly well in a too-small bed in strange surroundings. Up early but no ready to go back to bed. Maybe once I finish my tea.

We watched a town hall session online during dinner to get updates from the city on the evacuations. Starting at 8pm, residents of the neighborhood adjacent to ours were able to go back home. The stopping point on our street is right before our house, but our friend Diane says that if we point out that our house is RIGHT THERE, they will let us through. If the power is back on, we will go home today.

The danger isn't over for any of us yet. The Tubbs Fire, which started in Calistoga and went over the hill to Santa Rosa, is now spreading north and could be headed toward Middletown, which is about 14 miles south of us. Parts of Middletown were destroyed two years ago in the Valley Fire, so the ominousness of the situation has some people really on edge.

I wish there was an answer to all these wildfires and how fierce they've become in the past few years. My heart aches.

Stay safe Steve

Fall have arrived! 64F at 7 am (dew point 53F). The humidity is below 50% and it's going sunny and clear. High near 80F.

Headed to the gym early today. Have a volunteer meeting at the library later this morning with lunch afterward with the group.

Will take advantage of the cooler weather to clean up the around the landscaping.

It's Wednesday. Take care of the hump.

Glad your house is okay, Steve. The news sounds devastating. Be careful.

High of 80 today. Pretty humid. Rain is returning tomorrow.

Weeded today. Harvested for our market in Dover tomorrow. Canned tomatoes this p.m. I was going to watch the Nats game while I canned but it was postponed because of rain in Chicago. So I watched Frazier reruns instead.

Hope everyone has a good night and a great Wednesday tomorrow.

Steve, my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone affected by the fires. Please be safe.

74F at 7am. Expecting rain later today as a cool front arrives. High today only 80F. Unlike you Dennis, weíre still running the AC.

The allergens are so bad around here, some people are walking with surgical masks. Iím skipping my morning walk/jogs because of the high spore and pollen count. I'm a little leery about running in the neighborhood in the early morning hours with a mask on my face. After all, this is Texas. Everyone has a least one weapon.

Headed to the gym later this morning for a workout.

Tuesday!

Good luck Steve - it would be nice if at least the winds died down.

In Tucson at 6 am it is 62F (real feel 60 F due to low humidity of 21%). Forecast is for an afternoon high of 90 F at 3 pm. We will be in the 70's by 8 pm, when I open all the windows for the night. These types of days are the very best. Do not use much AC.

Beautiful Ron, now you'll need a guidebook and a good pair of binoculars for bird identification.

Got in short of two miles and it was sweaty work at eighty degrees and well over sixty percent humidity. DW made us chicken and veggie pouches on the grill using leg quarters that look really good which I'll eat my share of in an hour or so. Must do short workout first. Good day all!

I hope the fires arenít in your area, Steve. They sound awful. NPR interviewed someone who said they were sheltering 2,000 people at a facility in Napa County.

High of 80 back here in the Delmarva. Just shy of an inch of rain this morning.

Canned some tomato sauce this a.m. during the rain. Started cleaning up to prepare for fall crops in the high tunnel. Dentist. Nats vs Cubs. It is good to be feeling pretty much back to normal.

Have a good Monday evening.

Cloudy and 79F / 26C. dew point at 77F here in Myrtle Beach, heading to the mid 80's with a chance of showers.

On tap for my first full day of vacation: Nice 2.5 mile run, finished up some work stuff, breakfast here at the condo, errands, lunch, and who knows what else. Tonight: dinner with friends.

Have a good work week gents. Or if on vacation like me, have a good vacation week!

75F this morning (dew point 74F). Expecting a high in the low 90s on this mostly sunny and humid day!

Today: yoga this am then a walk on the dreadmill and stair stepper. Need to stop at the hardware store for an air filter for my weed wacker! May mow this afternoon after I get my weed wacker running or II may wait until it's cooler. Conference call with builder this afternoon.

Meanwhile in Lake Lure: I don't have a recent picture showing the view from the porch but here's the best pic the builder sent.

I'm traveling there next week- I get a better shot.

It's Monday: Here we go again!

I agree. Dump the NFL. Too bad the players have not learned how to effectively protest. This will be a real eye opener for the Owners when they count their take at the end of the year............... and when the next round of broadcast contracts come up. How sad.

I am rooting for Cleveland and the Dodgers. Powerful line ups, great pitching.

I'm about done with sports. No more NFL till they get the politics off field, the Terps got the crap kicked out of them and the Yankees don't look too promising. Guess I can root for the Dodgers or Nats if needed, but my heart's not in it.

Nice porch Ron, now turn the camera around and show us the view!

Went to the Mall for a short walk due to rain, so I still got my one-mile minimum plus a little. DW made it back and is pleased with her car. We went to an old church maintained by the DAR with my Sis (she's the grand poobah) to inspect some tree felling done to protect the perimeter fence and found a still legible tombstone for a 1750 burial. There were also several family plots and one named all the kids with their birth and death dates. There were two named Charles. One died the year he was born and then a second one was born two years later who lived to adulthood. I thought that unusual. Another marker commemorated the Culbertson family who had over twenty males with that name (all were listed) who served in the Revolution and the battles they fought in.

Hope everybody had a good weekend!

Yes, nice elevated porch! You get a nice view of the back yard!!

Watched Michigan/Michigan State game yesterday. Watching that crowd of 100K sit thru a drenching rain storm at night in October in Michigan was the best of my viewing. They were lucky to have 70 degrees at 10 pm!!!! Bet the students had fun. State won, so maybe not too many had much fun.

Next week fall will come to Tucson. Highs in the 80's, lows in the 50's. Those trees that do, will start to drop their leaves. We have one in our front yard. No raking here, just blowing the leaves into piles across our gravel front yard.

I agree with Dean, that porch is awesome, Ron! I bet you will be spending many days hanging out there.

High of 78F today, temps will be dropping throughout the week into the 60s for the weekend when my friend Susan arrives from Delaware to meet some more of her birth family who live near here.

Going to a fundraiser this afternoon for the county Democrats. Our two congressmen, assemblywoman, state senator, and candidates for state treasurer and governor are all expected to be in attendance.

The free time today will hardly be free. Laundry, studying, ironing are on the agenda. Better get to it.
