I think you are doiong great! Giving up smoking is a huge step and I do think when adjusting to things like that your body definitely needs to rest, as well as probably needing a r and r week every so often. Congratulations on doing so well!

I have been doing much better getting more sleep, but the real challenge here for me has been to quit smoking. I am doing very well with both challenges. I also have been cooking a lot lately. A lot more during the week, I should say. And I haven't been meeting my exercise goals, either. Hmmmm, sleeping more, eating more (and better prepared) food, not exercising as much ... sounds like the lion has taken over my life!

Actually I've been thinking about it, and I've exercised regularly for a long time now, about 9 years, and every 2 or 3 months there comes a week or so where I just can't seem to get in my exercise, and go over my calories, though not by much. I think for me it's a natural cycle of rest. In the past I have been really hard on myself when this happens, but this time I'm just going to keep plugging along, knowing that my exercise totals will go back up and my calories will go back down. I don't know if there is any astrological conditions that set this cycle or not, but my last one was in the end of May.

I love mango chutney (and Indian Food) so would probably love mango salsa, sounds delicious!

I love eggplant too (I was vegetarian for a long time too and now am flexitarian - I just learned!) I just eat some fish and chicken/turkey since I can't eat soy.

I made mango salsa last night, too. I love it and make it all the time, but you regular folks might consider that adventurous. I love it. I make a lot of tomato salsa, too, and sometimes even peach salsa. Salsa is a great way to get all of your fruits or veggies, you can load it on chips, veggies, eggs, meats, fish, etc. And the mango is fantastic because the color and flavor is so bright! Did you know mango is the most eaten fruit in the whole world? Try one!

Oh, and at the farmer's market this week I bought an eggplant, which is actually something I've never once prepared. I also bought those summer squash that are shaped like flying saucers, but I'm pretty sure they just taste like summer squash. So I'm going to attempt my first ratatoille (I have no idea if that's how it's spelled). I also bought a pound of drumsticks, which I plan to grill over hardwood charcoal, which is also something I've never cooked with before. And yesterday I baked muffins, and today I'm making healthy wheat germ cookies. I also have a flank steak to marinate ... maybe I'll grill that, too. I do a lot of cooking on the weekends so I don't have to cook so much during the week.

Well, I don't know if my ideas are wacky, but I do like to do a lot of different things with the same ingredients. I live alone a cook for one, so usually my ideas run along themes, like the secret ingredient on iron chef. I get bored eating the same thing so like to have a lot of options on hand. This past week I bought a pound of extra lean ground beef, so I'll use that as an example:

Dinner #1: Taco Salad - quarter pound ground beef browned with onions and black beans with taco seasoning. Put over bed of lettuce. Add salsa and light sour cream and voila. You could add shredded 2% cheddar, fresh tomato, a touch of ranch dressing, or even baked chips to jazz it up how you like. Or if you prefer you could leave out the black beans and add pinto beans to the salad cold.

Dinner #2: Burgers - quarter pound ground beef with a half cup of black beans. Add whatever burger or steak seasoning you like. Mash together with potato masher and form into 2 patties. Cook on stovetop, in oven, or on grill. I ate the second one for lunch the next day.

Dinner #3: Faux Fried Rice - quarter pound of ground beef browned with diced onion and seasoning of choice. Add frozen rice & veggies and cook until heated through. I used Trader Joe's Chimichurri Rice, which I'd never tried before, but saw a woman there buy like 6 bags of it and thought "if she likes it that much I'll try it, too." It is really delicious. If you don't know what chimichurri is, it's a South American sauce, somewhat spicy. And this rice mix from Trader Joe's had carrots, peas, and other frozen veggies, too. If I would have cracked an egg over top and fried it in it really would have been fried rice, but I didn't do that.

I liked the fried rice so much I made it twice this week. But other things I like to do with ground beef include: chili, meatballs, spaghetti, other burger/veggie blends (zucchini is great in a burger), mock beef stroganof, and honestly beef is not one of favorite things to cook. I was a vegetarian for a long time.

So if you have an ingredient you are bored with, let me know, and I'll tell you some of the things I do with it.

Sheila, I am a very adventurous eater, as my friends say. I love going to the farmers market and buying things I don't even recognize and trying to figure out what to do with them. Although admittedly I recognize almost all the food there now. But I really enjoy trying new things. What a surprise, as an Aquarius, huh? But one of my favorite things to do is to try and use a very familiar ingredient in a totally new way. Luckily I'm a pretty good cook so most of these experiments turn out ok. Good luck, and if you need any wacky ideas, let me know!

OK Phase two. One thing I have to improve is not to get stuck in eating ruts. I would eat the same things all the time. I plan to try new healthy foods. Today I scrambled eggbeaters for breakfast and they were great.

Thats great Nicole! You know Rescue remedy makes a new sleep aid and there is another product called Calms Forte that also helps with sleep, if you wanted to try something natural.

I am doing great on the no chocolate front so far!

I've been getting more sleep, which is really good. One of the reasons is because since I quit smoking, I've been taking half a xanax at about 8:30 pm, which is helping me sleep a bit better. I also think quitting smoking in general will help me get more sleep.

I was on time for work today, and for the second time this week took my dog for a walk at 6 am. I'm making progress.

That's a good goal, and you are right, it can be a constant challenge. Practicing mindfulness and good choices is important.

I am still struggling getting to bed early enough, but I think I'll get better at it as this challenge continues. Since I set this goal for myself I've had this song in my head ... "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight..."

I had a couple episodes of deja vu yesterday, I think Venus retrograde is making me relive some things.

OK Phase Two:

The main thing I have had a problem with was chocolate, and an all or nothing approach to eating. I feel much better since I stopped chocolate and caffeine (tea) 7 weeks ago and have a chocolate Larabar when I feel like some natural and healthy chocolate. This week I have been craving chips and vegetable Samosa so decided to incorporate the latter into a healthy Indian lunch at WholeFoods and skip the chips. Its a constant challenge, and don't want to slip back into the snacking, can't believe how many calories I was eating now I track it!!

Thats great! Rest is important too for sure, I was really over-doing it and since I took a rest 3 days started losing more again. I think the Virgo influence makes me want to do it perfectly!

I re-read the challenge, it got a bit OT there sorry! Anyhow I have done some biking lately (when my DD is asleep because she REFUSES to get in the bike trailer when I am driving!) and I did some gardening on Sunday and walked 1.5 miles in the process. I have been going to the pool with her, not much swimming but good exercise pushing a 35 lb wriggling object round the pool for 45 mins! She is swimming on her own with the floatie swim-suit now but not without it I don't think. Anyhow definitely doing more things. I have been doing a lot of hiking, but never really stopped for long, and rebounding - thats where I put on the loud music and get some of that dance energy out!

Yesterday I did a 30 minute on demand cardio workout, which basically turned out to be a half hour of squats. My legs were so tired and jello-y that I didn't even walk the dog last night, afraid I would trip and fall on my face due to lack of function in my legs.

That was my third item from phase 1, and since phase 2 starts tomorrow I've been doing some thinking, and for me the challenge lately has been to get enough sleep. I am staying up way too late and then can't get up in time in the morning. I start my day in a rush and all of that is decidedly unacceptable. I love the morning and I really appreciate having time to begin my day at my own pace, and in the past I have had excellent sleeping habits. So my challenge will be to go to bed earlier, get more sleep, feel better all around, and excel!

I love dancing!!!

Almost a year ago I purchased a dance dance revolution plug-and-play game. I don't know if you are familiar with ddr, but it's the dancing game you see all of the kids doing at the arcades these days. I love the game but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a game system and floor mat, so one day watching qvc I saw the plug-and-play for about $17.00 and ordered it right away. It's been really great, especially these past weeks where it's been so hot I haven't wanted to go outside to do my exercise.

I also love to go out dancing, but these days don't do it very often. I have one girlfriend with whom I get dressed up with and go out for Halloween, and the last couple of years we have gone to this place called "Boogie Fever", and it's super fun. Halloween really lets people step into a new persona, and it's a blast.

I did go out dancing in Vegas when I visited in May. It was really fun. My friend had the VIP connection and we ended up in the super-VIP section dancing with Shaquille O'Neal!

I think my Venus is more to the fore when I am being a mother (in positive mode) or working with animals. With my poor husband the niggling Virgo moon is all too present. I have the opposite problem to you with the Leo sun being help in check with the self-critical Virgo. Do you like dancing? I found that is the way I am most in touch with my Leoness. I need to do more of it now again.

Oh, changeable moon, my friend. When I can use the moon to my advantage it is great. When I get caught up in the moon's mood swings I'm in trouble. Being so much Aquarius I have a hard time dealing with a surplus of emotion, especially when it's my own. On top of that my moon and Venus are in opposition. I think when I am single I am more in tune with Venus, and when I am involved in a relationship the moon takes over my personality.

Nicole the Venus article was interesting (I love that website) I am sure we would all be much better off if we used our Venus energies more not our moon. Its particularly hard for me with it in the 12th house. I think the Venus transit is making us all more aware of the Venus energy which is definitely a good thing.

My daughter in law is also very kind and caring. Sounds like they share some nice energies. When I get back from my trip, I'll post some family birth info on our data thread.

Tomorrow at 10 I leave for NYC so I probably won't be on line for at least 4 days. Keep the home fires burning on our site. It's so much fun getting to know you all through our astrology connection. It's almost a language of its own, isn't it?

I read an article about Venus today and thought it was pretty interesting:

http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_venus_
e.htm

I especially like the part:

"What if the Venus placement actually suggests where we're meant to serve Her interests, rather than the other way around? In ancient times, if someone's life was going badly, the oracle's job was to identify which god or goddess had been offended and which offering would set things right. Most astrology books will tell me that Venus in Scorpio means I'm jealous and full of lust. But wouldn't it be more interesting if they revealed what Venus in Scorpio wants from me—if they said not what I am like, but rather what I need to do?"

For me, with Venus in the 5th house, I would interpret this as a need for ritual creativity, in making sure I spent time enjoying being creative, to honor the placement. And with Venus in Aquarius I can do this in unusual ways. It might be a ritual, but it won't be predictable! I know I could benefit from this.

Also she talked about how in romantic relationships we often fall back to the moon's influence instead of Venus'. That part also rang true for me.

I just realized it was Neptune NOT Uranus DOH, but it definitely had the same effect, and I probably need to go look at it again. I think its been about dissolving old fears and beliefs and yes moving to a newer level, always an on-going process. Of course it would help if I could actually remember which transit it was!

That was a tough loss of your dog and the sudden unexpected part was Uranian. It does sound like there are some internal changes going on for you and personal growth. I know that for me, I have evolved and grown with these eighth house transits. I don't even know the person I used to be. It involved a lot of spiritual searching;letting go and letting God, going to the next level. The astrology classes and spiritual meditations in the early seventies with Isabel Hickey in Boston was the start of my rebirth.
It was painful but well worth it.

Thats some tough planets to have, I can imagine it really tests you to the depth of your soul sometimes. Good you are using it for growth tho - can you imagine how tough it would be if you didn't?

For me this was a tough out of the blue transit, with some warnings I did not listen to too well (the dog eating my chickens) culminating when it was at the exact degree with my dog getting out and getting killed. So I have had to do a lot of work about loss and releasing fears around loss. Its been a tough time. Finances were a little tight but we manage our finances well so we were ok, and my husband got a new job which is much better, so for me it was more on a deep psychological level than anything so far anyway.

Transiting Uranus in 8 conjunct Saturn. How is that affecting you? I have a stellium in 8. So whenever there is a transit, it goes over all of them. I have Sun, Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn all in 8. In my case, transits have affected me and my mate financially, at other times it was almost like the death of my personality and through some pain the growth of a higher self.

Sheila, he does not know exactly what time he was born unfortunately, and his mother does not remember exactly either. I am not sure the birth certificate has it on it (or where it is!) I think he has a Taurus moon because he does dig his heels in and the possible time...its frustrating not to know exactly though. Wow a Taurus married to a Taurus, thats wonderful until you butt heads I can imagine. We really do have to back off and regroup and then discuss it calmly. Being a Sag he loves to debate about anything too, just for the sake of debating it 90% of the time!

I had never thought too much about Venus transits but this one definitely stirred things up (especially because she is retrograde perhaps!) I have transiting Uranus conjunct Saturn in my 8th house so thats been a lot more of a concern of late, pretty heavy transit for me.

Nicole I totally understand even being your opposite sign of Leo. I did not get married until I was 40 and still do feel that conflict sometimes. But when you do meet the right person (however challenging!) it just feels right. Plus when you know your own needs you can hopefully make it work, get the space you need, or whatever it is. Maybe thats why there are a lot of Aquarian couples out there.

I think ultimately the key is to be happy with yourself and being on your own in any case, even especially before getting into a relationship. I don't think its something you plan either, it sort of hits you when you *aren't* expecting it! Thats how it was for me. I still miss my dogs sleeping on my bed sometimes though and having the freedom of being single, but you I still make sure I do meet my needs within the context of the relationship. Its definitely a work in progress for me tho and being in a relationship is one of my biggest challenges, so enjoy being single until you do meet Mr. Right or not! I am a little tongue in cheek about dating all the signs (its true and some more than once) but if I had met the right person before I would not have stopped twice to date the rest of the signs lol! Still it was fun!

Anna, just wanted to say I looked at your husband's chart and He has an Arian emphasis with that stellium in one, a pretty strong first house, Pluto on the MC and a Scorpio ascendent. (You also have a first house sun). His Taurus Moon is the lone handle on the other side of that bucket of planets. (Although it is 0 degrees in Taurus. Does he have a birth certificate with a time on it?)

With your 5 Virgo planets wanting things to be right and correct, it just sets up a challenge for him to dig in his Taurus moon. Being a Taurus married to a Taurus I can sympathize with you. The only way to move either one of us when we have dug our heels in is to back off, give some space, try to understand the other person's point of view and what makes them feel it has to be that way. You can ask nicely again or try to figure out another solution together i.e. dry the knives by hand separately; whoever washes, empties the drainer. You can also offer to do the knives yourself the way you like to have them done or request that that be his chore entirely. When we Taureans get into a power struggle, it really doesn't work. Sometimes winning the battle is losing the war.

You asked about what I think about Venus Rx. Well, I never really thought about it much before this discussion thread even though Venus rules my sun and ascendent. It obviously has us thinking about how we relate to partners or potential partners in relationships.

I am definitely both a private person and someone who likes to be friends first. No matter how attracted I am to a person I need to spend some time examining them before I feel comfortable opening up. That's right, examining.

I've never really shopped by sign for a man, and I'm not dating right now, but if I meet any Leos or Virgos I'll give it some consideration. My brother is a Virgo, actually. I've had a lot of success with Libras but they can be a bit boring to me, sometimes, as I've got a big imagination. And I have dated a few fire signs, though no Leos, and with them it has been a whirlwind of passion until the flames die out.

I guess Venus retrograde is getting me to think about all of this relationship stuff. I am happily single, not dating. I tend to have mixed feelings on this subject: I want to be with someone and at the same time I want to be alone. Until I can resolve what I really want and get my feelings aligned, I don't think I'll go looking. But if the opportunity presents itself, I'd certainly consider it. I like to think that if I met the right man my mixed feelings would resolve themselves, but it hasn't happened yet. I tend to think I might do best with an air sign, since I'm mostly air.

I have a friend who is an Aquarian (Scorpio moon) who was married to another Aquarian (I think Leo moon) they just split up but they really were (and still are) the best of friends, she is totally in love with a Scorpio right now though. Scorpios definitely have that effect on people!!

Also with Pluto in 1 and Saturn on the MC you are probably pretty private and someone would have to earn your trust to get through your guard. I find that Aquarians trust people more if they are friends first. My step daughter is Aquarian married to another Aquarian and they are perfectly in step and are best friends. They started out that way, worked in adjoining offices and got to spend time together as friends first.

It's interesting because your Moon is in Leo and you have never dated a Leo. I have seen some great Aquarius-Virgo matches (You have a Virgo ascendent and the sun in 6) You should also try a few more Libras. That's me, Yenta the matchmaker from Fiddler on the Roof. :)

I am highly amused.

If I decide to end my current "dating hiatus", as I call it, maybe it will be with a plan to date all signs. I'm sure I've been through them all, already, but maybe I've just repeated the same signs over and over.

Aries - dated
Taurus - dated
Gemini - dated
Cancer - dated
Leo - can't think of any Leo's I've dated
Virgo - no Virgo's either
Libra - dated several seriously
Scorpio - no Scorpios
Sagittarius - dated
Capricorn - dated
Aquarius - dated
Pisces -dated

So I guess there are three signs left for me to sample, right? Although I have some problems with Scorpio I would be willing to set them aside for a memorable affair. (I am pretty certain I once did have an affair with a Scorpio, but I don't know if he really was or if he just seems like he was. It was a fantastic week-long romantic adventure in Europe.) I bet I've dated all the signs, there are just some guys who I can't remember their birthdays. Some of the others, Capricorn/Aquarius and Aries/Taurus, I dated two guys, each exactly on the cusp, so I'm counting these two guys as four signs, though I've definitely dated Taurus alone before, too. Maybe I should just give them all a try again! I don't think I have the stamina for that, but it's really funny to think about. Because as an Aquarius and loving to experiment, I can imagine myself going through the zodiac like a checklist. If I ever do the internet dating again maybe I'll do it that way.

I think it is a paradox as much for him as the rest of us lol! Yes the Taurus moon definitely stabilizes and deepens the Sagittarian nature, he is extremely loyal and faithful and constant which is nice. Of course Sag is a very compatible sign for Leo and our suns, moons and asc are basically trine with each other which is nice except when our suns conflict the other's moon etc! The most passionate and karmic love affair of my life was with a Scorpio sun, a Burmese guy in Thailand, the hardest thing I ever did was leave but Scorpio is such a complex sign to deal with. Its fascinating. The funny thing is before (if ever) I got married I wanted to date (and experience!!) all the signs and I had except Sag and kind of forgot about it. I was friends with DH for a long time and never asked him his sign until we were really in love and he was Sag the last sign on my 'list' lol!

Anyhow we did talk and clear the air, without me backing down, he is definitely more casual about things than me (who is over-protective and anxious - suprisingly Virgoan in fact I wonder why...) and of course we could both stand to learn from each other. Anyhow hope my airing my dirty laundry has helped with some insights into Venus's lovely transit. It has sure shaken things up for me so far, but I know thats usually a good thing in the end!! I am going to check which planet she is going to play with next though...

I've been trying to imagine Sag sun, Taurus moon, and Scorpio asc and I keep coming up with a paradox!

I bet that his Taurus moon really adds a dimension of stability and loyalty to the normally freedom loving Sag, often considered quite a player.

I love Saggitarius, I have a few Sag friends and a Sag ex. I love their spirit and their fire, but I want to go deeper and Sag often just wants to alight upon the surface. My curiosity is endless while sometimes they get bored easily.

My work is filled with Taurus-ruled coworkers (and a boss). I get along great with their down-to-earth ways, but once they get their feet set there is no budging the bull! Being fixed myself I appreciate that characteristic, but it does make it hard to compromise in relationships, if one side refuses.

And I've already talked about Scorpio. I think if I solve the mystery of how to get along well with Scorpio I will have solved all the mysteries of the world!

Luckily Venus retrograde only lasts about 6 weeks, and only happens every 8 years. It is my understanding that it's usually less problematic than Mars or Mercury retrograde, but if it's lined up against all of your planets in Virgo it's certainly going to be more trying.

I'm really bored at work today. At least I have something to think about!

Thanks for you wonderfully detached Aquarian advice! He has quite the combo when it comes to arguments - Sag wants to avoid it and be happy, then the Taurus moon kicks its stubborn heels in, and then the he whips out the Scorpio! He is great when its all happy and we are having fun together but we both are pretty stubborn and want it out way - not easy in a relationship, thats probably why I lived happily alone for a very long time and its hard to adjust to living with someone! But leaving the lid of the toothpaste cap is one thing, obviously stupid and dangerous things is another. I have to leave my daughter with him on Saturday and asked him to please leave one dog in their kennel as the other dog protects her and this dog does not like to be messed with (he snapped at her twice) now I am worried I can't trust him to do this. So there is a bigger picture here. I am going to write him a note later and he can read it and when we are calmer talk about it, we usually do but he just does not get it like about the knives. I mean who else thinks thats normal?!! I swear the Sag sun would argue the sky was blue, he just loves to debate to begin with!! Thanks Venus for stirring things up here!

I think if you started enjoying each other and talking about things regularly it might help to broach these specific issues.

I am woefully independent and dramatically all-or-nothing (something I'm working on tempering through balance) so I'd either do these things myself or have him do them himself. If he's going to put knives point-up (come on, can he really not see this as a hazard? what's next, running with scissors?) I'd maybe alternate dish doing chores every night instead of doing it together. If he's going to do this dangerously (nothing like leaving your stinger lying around, armed and ready) I'd let him do it himself.

I am not a very good compromiser. It's usually my way or the highway, though I'm willing to listen to reason. Like I said, I am not the one to be giving relationship advice here, being single, living alone, and LOVING IT!

I think this is a good thread to talk about the effects of Venus retrograde. I think it's also easier for me since I don't have any romance to rehash and re-examine, only reflection for me. Also, Saturn has been opposed to my sun for two years now and will be leaving Leo soon, much to my relief. I expect easier times ahead, especially with regards to relationships.

Thanks those are some good ideas. I just have to figure out how to get through to him that when I ask him to do something like put the knives point down when he puts them to drain (or even in the dishwasher if we have one) that it is for a good reason. I have asked him nicely before but he just does not get it even when I get injured. In his previous very bad marriage he was co-dependent and now is paranoid about being that way again so does not compromise on things. Its not just the knives but thats the gist of what our issue is about right now. He is very kind and caring and loving normally but if he thinks I am criticising him he just gets so angry and stubborn. I know its hard for him to live with my Virgo moon but however I couch it or phrase it he will not really change things like this. My dog was killed because he thought I was paranoid wanting a dog-run (we live in the country so he thought she would be fine, but she wasn't) but he says it was the dog's fault she got killed and "I knew you were going to blame me for that" I think its about responsibility. He *is* a very responsible person but does not take responsibility for consequences he could have seen and prevented, but if I have pointed it out already then it happens I feel very let down and I just cannot get him to see this. Anyhow sorry to hijack the thread here but BOOM this really came to a head when Venus (R) started doing her little dance across my Virgo planets, of which I have many! So hope its not too off topic!

I am not a relationship expert, but I have been involved in a lot of them, though I've never been married. I don't know about giving advice, but I think Venus retrograde could be a good opportunity to reconnect in love.

Many, many years ago I was with this guy and we'd lived together for about 4 years. We were having some problems (he wanted to get married and I wasn't ready/didn't want to) and we did something that worked really well. Actually, two things. First, we agreed that once a week we would sit down together or take a walk together and just check-in with each other about us. It was also important to us to set a time limit of no more than a half an hour for this weekly chat, so it wouldn't turn into a rehashed argument every week. Going for a walk was the best for us, we'd talk about us and things we were bothered by or were happy about and it really helped open up an ongoing dialog and gave us a safe framework in which we could express our feelings, and when the walk was over our conversation was done. At first it was a little difficult, admittedly, but after a few weeks we both came to enjoy it.

The second thing we did was agree to each plan one date a month. So every two weeks we would go on our date. The person who planned the date could choose anything they wanted, and was responsible for paying for it, too. (We were broke, just out of college.) And the other person had to go along with it and make the most of it. So we would do anything from a picnic in the park, a football game, a round of putt-putt golf, go hiking, etc. It wasn't about spending money, it was about joining our partner in their interests and having a good time together. It really helped to get us out of the routine rut we had found ourselves in.

One more thing, about Scorpio: of all the signs I seem to have the most personal trouble with Scorpio. My mother is a Scorpio and one of my best friends has a Scorpio moon, and I'm not sure exactly why but there always seems to be some undercurrent of tension. Maybe it's because I'm so direct and Scorpio is never direct. They seem to come at issues always from the sides or the rear, never head-on. And then there is the sting. We also seem to think in completely different ways, again, it might be that I often feel like they are trying to manipulate my feelings indirectly. I haven't figured a good way to deal with that, yet, other than to just be myself, and let them be, too.

Unfortunately it is bring up some stuff between my husband and I that does not look too good. For example I always wash the dishes with sharp knives down to drain. Tonight he washed the dishes and I leaned over to put something else in the sink and a sharp cutting knife was pointing up and it cut me quite deeply. So I said OMG I just got stabbed in the arm and so he broke the knife in half and threw his dinner remains in the sink. Then when I tried to say you never should leave sharp knives pointing up he told me that was the way to dry them, and so we had a big argument. I am just tired of backing down and he won't accept any responsibility for anything at all like that. If something happens as an accident (like he breaks something important to me) he does not believe you need to apologize. Anyhow sorry to vent here but thats what Venus is doing. I am sure he took it in a blaming way but geez he will still leave the knives pointing up if I ask nicely or whatever and it is dangerous. Its just an example but I am not sure where to go from here at this point. Ok vent over. He is a Sag with a Taurus moon and Scorpio asc and Mercury.

Happy Raccoon: Reading Rumi's poetry always makes me fall in love with god a little more, and also incites the creative spirit within myself.

I wrote a poem the other day sitting on the lake shore. I was going to post it here (it was short) but it must be at home. I thought it was in my purse still.

I'm being bombarded with aspects right now, too, though mostly they are supportive. In the next few days there will be some less supportive aspects coming up, and I am taking a deep breath in preparation.

I picked up a couple of books that I loved as a teenager and haven't read in about 20 years. It's interesting to look back and see what I was drawn to then. All the books are about isolation. All the the main characters are somehow outcasts, and it's very interesting to me, especially under Venus retrograde. I am something of a loner, and there are a lot of people in my life who don't understand why I just don't settle down and get married already. So these works of fiction have served as a catalyst for self-reflection. Not that I've come to any conclusions, but the review is interesting. Something to talk about with my therapist during my next visit, at least.

I have one more old love to revitalize for phase I. I went bonkers strength training then went for a walk on the beach, two old loves. I'm not sure what my final resurrection will be, maybe kickboxing. I do feel the need to let loose my aggression today.

Barefoot in the water of Lake Huron sounds divine!! I wish I was there, right now!!

Yeah, you know, my mom has not been to visit since my daughter was born 4 years ago. Suddenly now she wants to...

I think I'm going to learn a new way of loving. Something more adult, compassionate, and faith-based (as opposed to fear based.) HA HA--I'm literally biting my nails as I write this. emoticon

I'd kind of like to fall in love with God again.
And finally submit some poems to publishers.
And finish up some paintings and drawings.

How 'bout you in the third??

PS Well Sunday was a lovely day but its been downhill since!

Eww so Mercury is conjunct my natal Venus and retrograde Venus is hitting all my Virgo planets in the 3rd house like a row of Dominos! Hopefully bringing stuff up to be resolved.

Must be fun for you HappyRacoon with all your Virgo planets in the 12th...

Well glad I read this since I have been so grumpy with my husband since the 27th! Its impossible to discuss with someone that has a Taurus moon tho (and my ex bf did too) its like trying to move a rock!! Of course the niggly Virgo moon does not go about it the right way to move anything. I am going to see how its impacting my lovely 12th house Venus now. I am sure my husband will be glad tho in fact its not all me!!

Today I went to Lake Huron and took a long walk barefoot on the beach, with my feet in the water. It was really nice to get out of the city and slow down for a time.

So yesterday I did really well.

About 6 years ago I was all the way down to 125 and more fit than I've ever been. Back then I'd spend an hour or two almost everyday at Powerhouse, and had a very tough strength training routine. These days my strength training is only about 15 minutes 3 times a week, but yesterday I decided to really push myself like back in those old days and I did 35 minutes of circuit training. It felt really good and I feel strong today! Tomorrow I'll likely be sore.

I also had tons of extra calories to spend last night and made myself a mock peach cobbler. It was really delicious. I had some Pillsbury crescent rolls in my freezer that I'd bake flat so they were triangle shaped. I took one, made a pie-tin to fit out of tinfoil, and topped it with diced a diced peach, then on top put a crumble of butter, flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar. I baked it in my toaster over of about 20 minutes and it was the most delightful and delicious dessert I'd had in ages, and I was still over 200 calories below my limit! Yum!

I went over my calories yesterday, though not by much, and only got in 28 minutes of exercise, instead of 45, but I went out with some friends for a birthday and had a great time.

I need to get in an hour of cardio today to meet my weekly goal and I think I can do it no problem.

Astrosheil, you are inspiring me!

Tonight I came home and said that I was going on the treadmill. It was dead as a doornail. So I turned on MTV, stood on the darned dead treadmill and walked in place anyway for 25 minutes. Taurus energy bull dozing straight ahead. I doubt I would have done this on my own.

Thanks LuLu. What a cheer.

Good for you, Sheila!

I have the on demand stuff, too, and I used to do them all the time, but I bet I haven't done any in a year or two. Maybe I'll steal your idea and use that as one of my new things, too!

I'm on Board. The challenges by Nicole, Keri and Happy and the encouragement from Virginia have spurred me on. As I wrote in my other thread, I will work on phase one of finding three different ways to exercise. The first one started today with the Pay per view comcast exercise show. I could feel the fat burning away. I can't believe I actually got up at 5 to do it for 40 minutes and couldn't wait to get online and tell you all.

The Challenge officially starts tomorrow. Is everyone ready to track their food and exercise and stick to their goals?

Happy Raccoon, that's awesome! I just wanted to say it's definitely good to get a boost and satisfaction from others. It doesn't mean you are dependent, it just means you appreciate the feelings you get. As long as you also have other ways of bringing on the joy, I think it's fantastic! One of the affirmations in Conversations with God is "I love the adulation of others". It's not a bad thing in itself, just like money, but if you rely on it too much or use it in the wrong way, then you can get into trouble. You're doing great! And the universe is reaching out and telling you so!

Today I asked the nervousness to wait until 11:45, when I could sit down at my desk with my planner and schedule tasks. IT WORKED! Then I asked the joy to come right on in. It sputtered a bit, until I was walking home and someone recognized me and grabbed me lovingly by the hand. (I suppose I still depend a bit on others...)

Now I'm going to go try the "I love this warm water. I love the soapy bubbles. I love having clean dishes." meditation. Thanks for that. I predict I will be cracking up.

Happy Raccoon, you've got it right, that's for sure! Venus is enticing us all to make our relationships, both with ourselves and others, more fulfilling and more filled with joy. We have the opportunity here to re-examine our past actions and habits and make them more loving. When I was toying with the idea of this challenge that was the underlying goal: taking care of ourselves, enjoying ourselves and our bodies, and doing all of this with love. You can certainly modify any part of it to meet your personal needs. It's a gift to find joy in the simplest everyday things.

An aside here: I've done a lot of practice on finding joy in the moment, especially with regards to mundane activities I'd rather not do. One of the things I've worked on this way is doing dishes. So as I wash them I say to myself, I love having clean dishes. I love the warm water. I love the soap bubbles. After about two minutes of this I'm laughing so hard I can barely continue to do the dishes. It's absolutely ridiculous, being a dishwashing cheerleader to yourself, but it certainly makes the task more enjoyable.

As far as a social aspect, you are probably right, though I tend to be a loner mostly. An Aquarian with the moon in Leo in the 11th house of my natal chart, you think I'd be more social. I'm actually quite outgoing and personable, but I usually prefer to be on my own. Maybe signing up for a new class or team project would be good for me, especially under this transit. As a kid I used to be involved with martial arts, maybe I'll try to find a class to get me out in the world a bit more...

And as for reporting on this challenge, I think we can all report here to this board. There aren't so many of us that it should be a problem. We could also set up some sort of weekly checklist, what does everyone else think?

Great idea, Nikki!
Chez moi, this Venus Retrograde is crossing a very sensitive spot, so if it's okay with you, I'll just personalize the challenge a bit for me (it turned out backwards):

My sun is at 21 leo 40, so Neptune has been opposite for a while, while Saturn has been conjunct. I can already feel some insight into how I do JOY. There are a lot of layers to it--all of them more fascinating to me than to anyone else--but I feel spurred to enjoy my life more. I've always felt guilty that I didn't have time or energy to enjoy my kids enough. Now I can see that it's not the time or energy that's really the problem. I am currently realizing that I could use some practice at just really feeling happy, in the moment, heart wide open. Above all, NO WORRIES!

So, in terms of Venus, I feel that she is enticing me to reharmonize: physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually. But maybe for me phase TWO will be about FIRE. Reharmonizing my fire. Like, letting it get a little hot--not so controlled all the time. Like you, I do lots of activities that in of themselves are healthy enough...but now it's time to just really love it. Canoeing is like that. Jumping on the tramp. Marching in the band. OMG nothing is so fun as that!! But just laugh until I'm silly kind of fun. Not so serious. Open my heart!!

Phase ONE might be about earth, but trying to kind of back out of it a little bit, bit by bit, every day a little less involved with all the details of everything. I say that, because details can so easily overwhelm anything else I try to do. I actually let them spoil things! So maybe I'll just let Venus back me out a little until I can really burn happy.

How 'bout I report to you anytime I really achieve it? We haven't really started yet, but what if I tell you that today I sat on the bench and watched our kids lugging water up the beach and dumping it into a system of dams they had dug. And the light flashed off the waves and I listened a little (but not too much) to what everybody was saying, but in that five minutes or so, I felt it: heaven.

For both you and I, there is a social aspect to this Venus Retrograde, I think. (eleventh house) Do you enjoy team sports? I accomplish so much more when I'm on a team of some kind.

Venus goes retrograde on July 27 and remains there until September 8th. Retrograde periods are about reviewing the past. Venus is about love and emotion. Venus also begins it's retrograde period in Virgo, which is a sign of physical health. So reviewing our relationships with both nutrition and exercise would be appropriate, and refocusing our efforts would be beneficial. Retrograde Venus in Virgo will help find practical solutions to past problems. On August 8, Venus moves farther back into Leo, which will give us the opportunity to redefine our relationships with ourselves, in a fun and personal way, and also how we take care of ourselves. We will have recently gone over this same material earlier this summer, but here is the opportunity to correct past mistakes and reclaim our personal emotional relationships with food.

Venus Retrograde Challenge:

July 27 - Sept 8, 2007

Renewing commitment to fitness and nutrition:
Set a personal goal to consistently meet your calorie intake and exercise goals throughout this period.

Phase I: July 27 to Aug 8
Find three physical activities you used to love to do but haven't done in a long time and do them again. Roller skating, swimming, softball, anything you like. Share with us your rediscovered sources of fun.

Phase II: Aug 8 to Sept 8
Being true to yourself: focus on one thing you have had problems with in the past and work on creating a new and better way of dealing with it. For instance, if you tend to slack off on strength training, create a new plan and program to help yourself become more dedicated.

Bonus challenge: Do you have an absolutely favorite sinful food? Have you had to give it up for calorie counting? Find a healthy alternative, substitute or recipe to replace your old favorite. For me, it's pizza. I love pizza, and no way am I giving up pizza. Over the past few years I have become a master at making homemade healthy pizza. Share with us what you've done.

emoticon

Also, I didn't check, but if Venus retrogrades into Cancer after it's in Leo we'll add a Phase III.

emoticon

One more note: Venus retrograde doesn't have the same stress as Mercury or Mars retrograde. The position of Venus and it's backward movement should be a supportive aspect for this work, so let's take advantage of it!
