Very sensitive time now with the Sun in Pisces emoticon and conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Avoid arguments as you can't win. Neptune in Pisces will make for a lot of drama for a lot of years to come. Remember, Neptune is always a liar. Smoke and mirrors. Neptune brings dreams, but we don't live in a Dream World.

emoticon Merry Christmas

I love that wonderful Sagittarius rules the shopping season. No wonder people love to buy with Jupiter open to the idea. Then comes Capricorn with her tradition and ritual so we have Christmas. No one better than "Old Man Time" to bring in the New Year under Saturn's rule. I love how seasons follow the astrology signs. Just look at Scorpio having Halloween and Veteran's Day.

Happy Holidays. emoticon

Scorpio rules my 2nd house. Pluto is in my tenth. And I have a full 8th house stellium.

The Sun has entered SCORPIO, so there will be a lot of FIXED EMOTIONS going about with strong likes and dislikes. Check where Scorpio is in YOUR chart. Mine is in the Seventh House of Marriage. emoticon

I've been away from astrology for awhile and away from Sparkpeople as well. Just sitting with my Neptune in 12 by myself. But now I'm back. At least with Sparkpeople.

www.alabe.com I use alabe for making charts as it works fine for me. I had purchased a program on my old computer about 14 years back, but didn't care much for it, so I just use this one on-line. You can always copy it off to a paper chart it you want to "feel" the chart as you "draw" it up.

I use AstroDeluxe from Halloran software, its really such excellent value and have used his software for a long time. I don't have any interpretations or reports with mine though.

It does make a huge difference to my chart and have been using Placidus, its not so important to me really but maybe its good to look at the other house the planets would be in with the different house system. With Placidus my 8 Virgo planet/asteroid stellium falls all in my 3rd house, with Koch and Porphyry it falls more in 2nd house (especially Uranus) and that actually sometimes feels right to me! Ugh! Maybe thats why I don't use those charts lol.

I looked at my chart under the Porphyry system and it is the same as my chart under the Koch system. For me, the big difference between Koch and Placidus is that in Placidus Chiron falls in my 8th house and in Koch Chiron falls in my 7th house. I think for me the 7th house placement is accurate which is why I usually use the Koch system.

Maybe as I get older I will feel think Chiron belongs in my 8th house instead but I'm 35 and still think it belongs in the 7th house from my life experience so far.

I use the tropical/Placidus system, because it's the one I have the most experience using.

Astro.com will cast charts using several different systems, though, and I see that the Porphyry chart for me would be a bit different. Wow! Stellium in the 10th, stellium in the 5th for me.

What is the major difference between this system and the Placidus house division system?

I don't use a program yet ... I'd like to get one but don't feel well-enough informed and my computer is a dinosaur so maybe when I get a new computer I will look at getting some software. I use astro.com for charts right now.

I do some work by hand right now, too, especially chart comparisons. Just finished reading Arroyo's book on relationships and life cycles and have been practicing the techniques he recommends for comparisons with all of my friends with reliable birth times. It is time consuming but I think as I get a better feel for it, it will become quicker. But I do it for fun and love all the insights examining these things can bring.

I share the regret about there not being enough time to learn it all: lately I keep saying there isn't enough time to think all the thoughts I want to think! But I am going on a four day weekend soon with a girl friend and am taking all of my astrology books instead of fiction for my summer reading. I will appreciate the time where I can both study and also talk to my friend about it all. She is definitely interested in astrology but is pretty much a beginner so helping her helps me, too. She is also very interesting in psychology and works as a counselor so combining our two heads makes for great conversation and personal growth.

Agreed. I just wish I were better at it--of course I don't keep up properly. There's just not enough time to learn everything I'd like to.

What program do you use (if any)? I don't have a decent one; had CCRS (in fact still do, on a 95 computer in storage) but nothing now except Solar Spark. Although of course I started out doing charts with the ephemeris, ToH, and log tables, I'd really like to be able to do more, which is realistic only with a computer.

More later--leaving for errands.

I think you know a bit more than I do about some things, but have been learning a lot lately. I just joined NCGR and hope to soon begin officially working towards level 1. I would like to counsel people and I already do that with a lot of my friends, perhaps not actually counsel but attempt to aid them in reaching a greater level of self-understanding through the birth chart. I would love to do it professionally some day.

I tend to use the Koch house system but also use the Placidus system a lot. I also am interested in asteroids but like you don't use them much. I am still learning about all the different techniques and systems in use.

I am going to my first conference this September in Sedona. I am very excited about it. I wish I would have gone to UAC because my brother lives in Denver but I didn't even consider it until it was too late to arrange it all.

Whether I ever make a living at astrology or not I think I will keep doing it because it is such a valuable tool in my own personal growth I can't imagine putting it down. It's like a great book that never ends! And keeps getting more interesting!

Just curious.

I use the tropical zodiac and prefer Porphyry houses, if I use them at all, as I have used cosmobiological techniques for over thirty years. I'm interested in asteroids, etc., but don't use them much really. I think harmonics are valid, but again don't use them.

I don't practise professionally, never have really, as I am not a good counselor and research doesn't pay.

I'm Level I NCGR but not currently a member, and didn't go to UAC even though I'm in Denver. Haven't had anything published in many years.

I hope to be able to study more once I retire. But I'm never going to actually make a living doing astrology.
