Beautiful day here ... really cold and sunny. I remember winters like this in my youth. Feeling much better with the sunshine and eating a bit more healthy. Tracking what I eat always helps me. Now to dig out my old step counter and start tracking that as well. Winter is always the hardest for me to get my body going but I tell myself that clearing out basement and tops of closets would probably give me lots of exercise.

Best tool so far is writing down everything I eat. Try to keep reasonable and out of denyal.LOL You know it still works. Amazes me with my age and the fact that I am so sedentary. Good luck to all. Increase in daylight definitely improves my mood. Seeing the Sun and blue sky helps too.

I paid extra attention to the baby chicks that are basically motherless. This lays a good foundation for tame birds that have happy hormones when I pick them up, so when I butcher them almost painlessly, the meals from them won't make me tense.

I have to butcher them a few at a time, though, and put them in the fridge or cook them up together--so I don't know who I am munching on!

Starting my outdoors living quarters. I don't do well in houses with fumy press-wood counters; old, curling linoleum; 60 years of bug spray soaked into the wood; cracks that let mice come in to pee on everything I own; and cats who think I need a mouse to play with!

This one actually will become a chicken coop.

Went ahead and bought all kinds of diet desserts yesterday, so I will Not be eating that soy ice cream I always overindulge in!...I go wt.watchers chocolate ice cream pops, and my dreyers ice pops with Splenda...and some sugar-free choc.pudding but that tastes nasty, won't be getting that again!

Ate broccoli with my turkey burger for dinner last nite, and tonite, it will be my favorite - asparagus.

Also went on a 5-mile hike yesterday afternoon, in a local park with Redwood trees (smaller ones) but it was Very strenuous, and I really worked my you-know-what off! Anyway, I am glad I did it, but disappointed in how much I still need to get into shape, for climbing hills AND going downhill a lot.

Hi Sheila. Tracking is a pain in the butt, but I'm doing it, past few months.

Ways I took care of myself: Went shopping for some good green vegies today.
(I LIKE my vegies now!!) I also went to the store in another neighborhood, the fish market, and bought some nice prawns, and some salmon (2 dinners worth)
..oh yeah, and I'm eating my slow-cook outmeal quite often now. A new good habit!

I really like asparagas...and I used a Schezuan sweet and sour sauce on the fish, which was divine.

I stayed away from the sugar last nite. And I ate less food,yesterday too. Also the gym visit - yay!
and today, I shopped at Safeway, and picked up some very inexpensive Asparagas, and some Broccoli (thats enough for 3 days of vegies) and I said No to buying any chocolate or soy chocolate ice cream!
Oh yeah, and I bought more Oatmeal (the regular, not the instant kind) Thats a new habit of mine, eating oatmeal a few times a week for breakfast. And I like it, too. Not bad at ALL.

I'm still not in the HABIT of eating my vegies...even the ones I like! thats why I'm so "proud" of myself. Usually I'm just lazy and throw dinner together, and my vegetable is Salad only...but I am making a concerted effort to BUY and COOK the vegies. It also fills me up more, and the FIBER is much needed.

I took care of myself with a nice day out with DD yesterday and also got some really nice Zia skin care products on sale and used them today they are really nice. I have been taking better care of my skin since last year, thx Pisces Mom!

I did a strength workout on my home gym today for the first time in many months. I usually just do floor exercises but decided to do more strength. I also did yoga and took Mr. for a 37 minute walk. Sun is shining here!

I ate a nice big salad of mixed greens and arugula, and cherry tomatoes and bites of goat cheese- good!
...did a ton of walking, again - for the 3rd day in a row...and also did aerobics twice during the past week - so glad I have had the Energy!

Hi,
Today I did some stretches for the first time at home. I am proud of that because exercise and me at home is a misnomer. These stretches came from a trainer at the gym (my work) I just joined. I think they are very helpful. She said, my core was very tight! If she only knew...LOL

Did the laundry finally!

let myself enjoy the goodies I picked up yesterday from Trader Joe's, nothing TOO fattening (as long as I don't overeat, which is so hard, when its food I like right here!)

I need to do better taking care of me. I've been doing really good but for the past three days have been binge eating very badly. Today I am working on getting on track. Why do I sabotage myself like this? Well, it's fine and I know I can and will get back on track.

I got a couple new guided meditation cd's and have been listening to them at night before bed. Meditation is something I definitely can use more of!
