I think my ''danger zone'' is when I get home from work. I work nights so I usually get home somewhere btw 11:15pm-midnight. And that's when I want to relax and eat and drink something.

I want to run all the races!

New Question: What is your "danger zone"?

I think it is tiredness for me. When I am tired I tend to eat and drink without thinking.

What will you do with your wild and precious life?

There are so many options available to us, WW and Skinny Cow, both make candies, for example. I like greek yogurt also. Low fat or fat free fudgesicles or popsicles in the summer, too.

New Question:

What do you do when you crave something sweet?

An 80 calorie store brand fudgescicle or a banana with a few melted chocolate chips are my go-to desserts.

How about you?

My out of the box was joining the gym even though I feel self conscious.

My coffee? I take with milk. I've started using the original flavor of unsweetened Almond Breeze, which I don't like as well, but it has fewer calories.

I have used Splenda for sweetening things at times, but I try to avoid sweeteners for the most part.

I try to limit my use of artificial sweeteners because when I read about them there is
something negative being said. Just today my Hubby's Doctor told him to limit artificial sweeteners because his triglycerides are high. Now I've read using them does lower weightloss for some people who are trying to lose weight. BUT, when I do use one I use Splenda. I know most health experts say to use Stevia, but it cost more than Splenda and does not taste as good. I have heard others say they like Stevia, but it taste bitter to me...... I like to sprinkle Splenda and cinnamon on a peeled and sliced apple and put it in the microwave. It helps to forget about that bowl of cereal I use to eat at night. emoticon

Do any of you use sugar substitutes? Which kind do you use? I use regular granulated sugar in my coffee and cut down from 2Tbs to 2tsp but thought it might be better for me if I used a substitute. Any thoughts?

I found the Dr. Oz. episode. It is called: Dr. Oz Garcinia Cambogia. I didn't realize this but the episode is back on Nov 5, 2012. At the demonstration I was asked to become a distributor but I haven't experienced the results they described as of yet and I don't want to sell something that is just a pyramid crack pot scheme. I don't know one way or the other yet.

Well, a co-worker was telling me about it and I've been taking it for about a week now. She invited me to a demonstration and I went her house yesterday. Apparently it is a weight-loss coffee and green tea. I can say this much about it, it does suppress my appetite, help with digestion and give me energy. In fact, Dr. Oz. apparently had a team of medical experts to a scientific experiment and have proven that this product blocks the body from turning food into fat storage and breaks it down instead and eliminates it as waste.

I'm going to go and see if I can look up past episodes on Dr. Oz and find it myself. They were saying that it is more than a weight loss tool. It is a health tool because it eliminates the bad fat from around the stomach and viscerals.

I'll keep everyone posted as I've been using the green tea now for a week. I must be honest and say that I couldn't tell you if it helped with weight loss and energy because I was already losing weight and feeling energy just from changing my lifestyle. But they did say that it would increase that to 2 - 3 x's.

I dislike working out in front of people. I used to not work out on the days my husband has off. However, this time around things are different. I have found that working out in front of him actually makes me try harder!

Slowing down when I am eating. I had gotten into the habit of eating fast and not really noticing what I was eating or how much. Seconds were common at every meal. Now that I have slowed down, I don't eat much more than my seven year old.

The biggest thing I have noticed though in slowing down and not eating as much is how much lighter I feel.

Looks like a lot of folks have really good, healthy reasons to modify their life style. Excellent goals to help with motivation and staying focused.

New Question of the Day: How have you stepped out of your box to make a healthier you?

I LET MYSELF FEEL HUNGRY. I felt and heard the rumble and grumble and all the noises it makes when it wants something NOW! At first I panicked when I started to feel a little room open up in my tummy. Then I worried that if I felt hungry I wasn't going to make my goals because I just knew if I didn't get something RIGHT NOW I would binge. However, after letting myself feel hungry I learned if I wanted food due to boredom, worry or something else, Then when I let myself have a snack or if it were meal time, I slowly and purposefully prepared the food then took my time consuming it. This way the stomach and the brain are being reprogrammed to "not live to eat but to eat to live".

My NSV? Not downing a TON of chocolate nearly every night; I substituted any 1 or 2 of:

1 TBS local honey licked slowly off 1 teaspoon at a time
1 TBS unsulphered blackstrap molasses licked slowly off 1 teaspoon at a time
1-3 squares of a Hershey's 1.55 oz bar (3 sq.=1/4 bar)

Compared to woofing down 6-8 ounces of dark chocolate, THAT is a NSV!! emoticon

Sun66shine- emoticon !! I am so impressed with your NSV. I have to go to my parents and help them a lot. While driving back and forth getting something to eat, (unhealthy choices), is one of the reasons I have gained weight. I agree with Janet. Every time I pulled through a drive through it started with me thinking about something yummy I could eat..... so I would buy it.... and eat it. At times I would start thinking about what I could eat on my drive before I even started my trip... Now when I start thinking about unhealthy foods I want to eat, I find something to do to get it out of my thoughts. It works for me. Unhealthy choices starts with a thought......healthy choices do, too.

2014-is-my-year- AWESOME WORKOUT!! I so will be glad when I am physically fit enough to put on a pair of running shoes and run.
emoticon emoticon .... your emoticon !

Yesterday I thought I threw my lunch in my purse, but only threw my protein bars and fruit in it. At lunch, although my belly was grumbling and complaining, I didn't hit the vending machines. Then after work I had to run an errand and I was doing it on an empty tank. Even so, the smells of the restaurants, deli's, and other food vendors did not make me cave in. I didn't have time to stop for one, but for another, I was too hungry to care what I would have picked and I wasn't taking a chance. So I focused on my errand and what I had at home that I could grab as soon as I walked in the door.

In the past I would have tossed all things aside and ran to the junk food isle or into a fast food drive through regardless of what I was trying to accomplish health wise. Yesterday, my brain had control and my tummy had to obey! I DID IT!! Now I feel I have control over my eating. I have the power to say NOOOOOO!!!!! What a great feeling.

I'm with you, Jen. I'd love to be able to run...... one day I will. That' s a goal I can work toward. There's no reason we can't reach our goals. We are worth all it will take to be successful and reach them. emoticon

When I visit my home town I want to go shopping with my "Mama and Sister"and not worry about running into people from my past who I don"t want to see that I am overweight.
