Woohoo. Have been a member here for about a month and a half but this journey started almost 3 years ago. Today I hit 50 lbs. lost since I started this Jan. 2011. I am less than halfway to the final goal but now some other goals feel so close I can taste them,

One day at a time, One step at time. Those days and steps add up and before you know it you have reached your goal.

HI I joined last month but am not having any luck getting started. I could use some support so please friend me if you want a support buddy. I was appalled at my weight at the dr. today.. it was a real wake up call. I'm on medicine which made my blood pressure spike so I've been monitoring that for a month.. I noticed that during this last month my pulse has been racing.. up to 120!! while RESTING! so I called the nurse and she told me to come in. They ended up doing an EKG which was fine.. they don't know what is causing it.. but I can't help thinking it is partially my weight.. I did start exercising last week did about 2 hours.. but the tracking the food has been hard... so I'm going to start tomorrow again and just try to be alot more strict.

Hello,
I've lost about three pounds since I joined. I'm very happy with it. I've completely changed my attitude to moving. I think I'm starting to find the stairs easier, too.
I bought a watch just before becoming a member. I thought the metal bracelet was a bit tight but I'd decided to lose the weight. Now I can just about get a finger in there :-).

Since joining I've lost 9lbs so hooray for October. I seem to forget to log into the site daily. I still like to write things down on paper. Anyone remember Franklin Planners? I loved those planners.

I need to create a routine for myself. Just joined the groups water challenge and set a sleeping goal. These two goals plus tracking is all I can handle for November. What are you doing this month?

Happy November everyone!!! Now I am feeling the gain! I am in the middle of selling my house which means house cleaning every day plus all the other odd things which need to be done to make the place show well. I am also feeling the anxiety of "oh my god, what if I need to get up and move right now!". So, the food thing is a challenge but I love Spark People because I can come track my food and if I fall off the straight and narrow I know what price I've paid. Immediate feedback on consequences is helpful!

So far today all I've had is two cups of coffee and some creamer and one teaspoon of sugar. I need to go eat some breakfast. After all, the dogs have already had theirs and they are sleeping it off.

I weigh in every morning so I'm watching the tenths of a pound and I see I'm slowly sticking to a weight in the 2 pounds less than when I started two-three weeks ago. I call that progress. My main emphasis is not so much losing weight as it is establishing healthy eating habits. I need to use the good food in the refrigerator rather than picking up something easy and fast.

Progress, no perfection is the motivator for today!

Sometimes going over calories will not have adverse affects... but that is if it happens once a week or less. Cheat days are allowed, as long as it is no incredibly overboard.

I have been tracking but I cannot get the range that sparkpeople suggest. They say I should eat 1200-1550 calories. I have changed to try for 1200-1800. I am usually around 1600-2200 and that is with cutting out 1000+/- of my daily calories.

You went over on calories, but not overboard and are doing good. emoticon

I ate a salad - about half of what was brought to me - after I used oil and vinegar on it, rather than the restaurant's dressing. Then, I had a Gyro sandwich. The food tracker estimated it at over 600 calories, and I did go over my calories for that day, but I've maintained the weight I've been trying to maintain. So, I call it Good! Ice Tea also helped. Tasted good but did not add calories!

If it were me, I would bring my journal...or make sure you track your food as best you can...that is a VERY important thing...if you know you have to track it...then your less likely to put it in your mouth!

If you don't want to eat over your range...then I would also suggest having water with you all the time...and be sipping on it...that can help hunger wise too...
