hi Nicole, my time was hectic in Adelaide although I sent a lot of time waiting for my appointments at the hospital. I think that is more tiring than anything else. Roughly I wasted about 10 hours waiting at the hospital for my appointments.

Nothing was really worked out with my Thyroid/parathyroid problems, go back in Feb. Not happy.

The one big thing that was decided is that I start dialysis. The Neph wanted it now but I pushed for after Xmas. So at this stage it is the first week of January. Not happy about that either.

Update on Dad. He refused to have the scope done so the doctor asked him a couple questions and said he was coherent so he couldn't do the procedure. Dad is bleeding somewhere inside and its a slow leak until they give him the blood thinners for the clots in his legs. Hopefully they're smart enough to not start the blood thinners again. When he was brought in to the ER his blood level was at 11 now its at 8 so they know he's bleeding somewhere. Grrr y does he have to add to our stress. I love him but he's stubborn.

My weight today was only a hair lower than last week, but I'll take it! As I review my numbers, I see I am pretty much on track now to achieve my 10-week challenge goal. Also, my scale measures body fat percentage and that dropped 0.5%, so that's a positive change, as well.

Today, I plan to do some lawn-mowing, weather permitting. Not sure what I will do at the damaged section, perhaps I will just mow around it. I don't want the mower to blow away the seeds, but maybe it won't. There is still some remaining “grass” to keep them in place........I just looked outside and it is looking like rain, so it may not happen today anyway. On the other hand, if the rain holds out for a little while, it is great to work on the yard when it is overcast.

Other than the lawn, I don't have much planned. Lunch with DH. Maybe some de-cluttering in my music room. Definitely exercising of some sort!

Have a fabulous Friday!

****************************************

BARB – A sunrise walk sounds lovely! How did Mr. Spot's haircut turn out? My Daisy doesn't get the best haircuts because I do them myself. But, free looks good enough!

BARBIE – So sorry there was some disappointment at your WW meeting this morning. But, it's terrific you maintained, AND you are wearing a smaller pants size! Wow, that is some long drive you will be taking tomorrow! Will you be coming back the same evening or staying overnight somewhere?

CAROL – Lol about your being our Sheriff, rounding up desserters! How wonderful that you can feel positive changes in your fitness level during normal daily activities. That's what this is all about! A massage sounds awesome! Great idea about using the golf balls while you're at your computer. These days I have to either lay flat on my back with my laptop or stand at the counter with it. That seems to work best because I start to feel back pain if I sit too long. I have recently discovered (yesterday) that I can step in place while I am reading posts (not typing). So, that is an added benefit. It's not SparkPedaling, but it's SparkSomething, lol! I am excited about BLC, more than I thought I would be. I ultimately chose Mochas because another SparkFriend (since I joined SP) is a co-leader of the team, and because I thought Azure might be a little too much for me to handle right now. Plus, I knew I would still get to see you here!

KAREN – Making brownies and veggie platter for your dinner sounds yummy; both naughty and nice! Where's my cyber brownie? If Carol gets one, I want one, too! Lol about your prayers for the visiting teacher! I will have some quiet time this weekend. Today and tomorrow are pretty relaxed, but then I have a rehearsal and two concerts, as our local orchestra prepares to start the new season.

LINDA – Nice to see you! Lol about your argument for not being a malinger! Green tomato cake? Hmmm.......

LOIS – What a great feeling to have formerly tight-fitting clothes fitting comfortably. Now, that's an NSV! You sure got a lot accomplished yesterday! What's on the agenda of your busy day today?

NOLA - Your tree is lovely! I don't know what a honeyeater is, will have to look that one up, lol! Donating 4 cartons of books does sound like a good space saver! What do you think will take their place, lol? (I just looked up honeyeater.....what a darling little bird!)

WENDY – Great to see you, also! How was your time in Adelaide?

I had a lovely day in my garden and I wanted to share a couple of photos of my beautiful tree just coming into bloom. The honeyeaters and the bees love it! It is an Australian Wild flower called a Callistermon.

Karen those cyber brownies sound yummo. Have a lovely time with your train friends. It will be a great night with 60 like minded people having dinner together.I think a prayerful Hex with a dash (big) of Karma is the way to go for all losers who don't appreciate us beautiful people. emoticon

Wendy I'm glad you had a safe trip and are back here again. We missed you! emoticon

Theresa have they any answers for your Father yet. I do hope he is improving and your stress levels are starting to recede, Sending lots of good vibes your way along with a big emoticon

Lin emoticon with the tomatoes. I have grown more than usual this year and hope to get some frozen. We seem to be using a lot in everything. emoticon

Eliza have those Allergies gone yet?

Carol massages are definitely the way to go. Enjoy them. They are so good for you.

Barb is that Mr Spot looking spiffy today?

Nicole I like the idea of a Wal-Walk. Definitely the way to go when it is hot. Great you were able to get back on the bike with no bad effects. A need to declutter is ever present in this house, although I have just given away 4 cartons of books which makes quite a space...for a while emoticon

Lois it makes you feel good when you get something crossed off the to-do list. I spend too much time on my computer and the garden when I should be doing "stuff".

Dorothy have fun planting your bulbs. Sadly they don't do well here, we used to have a lot when we lived in the East.

How was your weight emoticon I am still maintaining nicely but it is early days yet emoticon

Good evening friends. Today was a so so day. I had Weight Watchers this morning and was a little disappointed that I stayed the same as I had been good last week with no unhealthy snacks. Oh, well, not going to worry about it as I am feeling good and bought a smaller size pants so I am happy about that. Today Marv and I got in a nice walk and tonight was Aqua Zumba. Tomorrow's football game is out of town (3-4 hours one way) so I am not sure if I will find time to check in before we leave. I am riding with my son and daughter-in-law and Bill's son and daughter-in-law are meeting us there so it should be a fun time.

@ Lois - doesn't it feel nice to mark off things on your to do list? Sounds like you had a successful day!

Evening to all! I am a little tired tonight, but feeling good as I made some progress on my to do list. Got summer clothes packed away and winter clothes into the closet. With the weight loss I thought I would need to get rid of some, especially slacks, but fortunately I don't. I guess I never realized just how tight they used to be. Along with this I did some organizing in the closets. But, will have to wait for my daughter-in-law to help me finish what I started and then hit the kitchen cupboards.

Signing off to clean kitchen and head to bed. Busy day tomorrow!

Thursday – Got a nice walk in, and a few more walkers out this morning. That was nice. Even had a nice sunrise!

The trees are beginning to change . . . already. Love the colors. Don’t like raking the leaves when they fall! But do love the crunch of the leaves when I walk on the trail.

Mr. Spot gets groomed later this morning, so he’s not thrilled with that. But he likes the groomer, so he’ll be fine.

Otherwise, glad it’s Friday-Eve!

I posted this earlier this morning (I mean @ 5 am!) and went back tonight – nada – so if it shows up again, you’ll know why it’s posed twice. GRRrrr!

Lady C: Glad you had a nice get-away! It’s good to relax. WE behaved! Did YOU???? LOL

I used to do Meals on Wheels with my Mom. It was a great experience.

Golf ball or tennis ball releases some of the foot tension for me.

I think it’s a busy time of the year for Oner’s. BUT hopefully all our “MIA’s” will show up! Guess we have to “shake things up” eh! LOL

LOVE that idea of the cyber brownie . . . one here too, please!

Nola: Glad you survived the busy day @ the Red Cross Shop! That’s awful about the age treatment! Good grief!

Computer over it’s hissy fit, but I’m not! LOL Lost some files in the process, but fortunately nothing really major. I am glad I have an external drive! OMG What a disaster otherwise.

Dorothy: Glad you had fun having dinner with your friends and bowling!!!! And you’re right about the external hard drive. Saved my life many-a-time!

Theresa: Oh dear. ((((HUGS)))) Stress is an ugly thing. Sending many prayers your way. It’s so hard. I am so very sorry your Dad had to be re-admitted. Hospitals as a whole now-a-days are WAY to quick discharging people and they end up being re-admitted sicker then they originally were. GRrrr. Hope he is doing better. Between the bleed and the pneumonia, they never should have released him!

Nicole: Good for you for taking the time to walk while you wait for your son. Awesome planning.

Karen: Glad your Mom is packed to go. TOO FUNNY . . . I’d pray for her “sorry as@” then wait for Karma to bite. LOL

HOLY FEED AN ARMY – 60 people! Good luck!

Lin: Your definitely is duly noted! LOLOL

Wendy: Glad your back. ((((HUGS))))

Linda, my thinking is that a piece of that green tomato cake would make your teamies feel real good and maybe we could take up a collection, so the financial gain could be arranged......lol.

Actually, never knew there was such a cake, a recipe might be in order. emoticon

I take acception to your calling me a malinger! emoticon

"The central theme to all definitions of malingering is that the term applies to persons who deliberately pretend to have an illness or disability in order to receive financial or other gain, or to avoid punishment or responsibility."

no excuses, not adhering to any "diet" right now, canning tomatoes, tomato jam, baking green tomato cake, green tomato bread, hitting the gym a couple of times a week--just to say I did..............

certainly have not received any financial or any other gain........ emoticon

YES, INDEEDY!!! No sweets, kept to low carb. Enjoyed food, but no bread.

Truly amazed myself. Wouldn't have done it without knowing I had to be accountable to you gals.

emoticon Oh my!!! You are having 20+ people for dinner. Is this a train thing? Pass me a cyber brownie!!

Later, gators, I'm off to send some goodies to some of our malingerers.

emoticon What a glorious day to do my Meals on Wheels. Hope you are enjoying great weather where you are. Sure makes getting out and walking a treat. I could actually tell the difference in it being easier for me to climb stairs to get to those top-floor apts. Working out has its benefits.

I had a massage while there, not something I usually do. I looked at it as a reward for my hard workouts at the gym these past few weeks. I told the therapist about my PF foot problem. Actually, to my surprise my PF foot did not hurt at all, but the other one did. She said it was all knotted up and suggested that I continue to do the golf ball roll with both feet. That is good to know. I am going to put 2 golf balls here at my computer and roll away....lol, while sparking. Sure would be ticked if one foot got better and then the other fizzed on me.

emoticon I am relaxed after our getaway to nature. Spending time outdoors really allows you to be alone with your thoughts. It is amazing what thoughts will creep in when the 'noise' of our busy lives is gone. Often time, just what I need to solve some life dilemma is made clear to me. Being with nature is such a spiritual experience. I'm thinking that having massages often could be good prevention of some issues.....or am I just wishing!

emoticon Nicole, your Wall-Walk is like my Mall-Walk. Good job. I love shop/walking. I keep moving and make myself walk around every section. Yes, it must be working if you aren't sore from your bike ride. I no longer get sore from my weight machines.....until I add on.....lol. Good luck with the BLC. It is a whirlwind now at the beginning. Sorry we didn't get on the same team. Luckily, we can relax and chat here.

emoticon Dorothy, a bowling league does sound fun. I used to bowl and do miss it. Not a convenient place nearby for us anymore. Does your team have a name?

emoticon Theresa, very sorry to hear that your Dad is having such trouble. Sure does seem like they released him too soon. Once you know what the problem is, you will be able to deal better. In my opinion, your streak is more one of consistency. One day for a very good reason does not break it. Start right back up and aim for being reasonable and consistent. That is what I do and here at ONE you are still streaking, teamie!!! Right, ladies?

emoticon Nola, oh my!!! If those ladies only knew you the way we do, they would feel very foolish for jumping to stupid conclusions.

emoticon Lois, I love my book discussion. I also read Sandcastle Girls and stopped reading it......too depressing, but interesting discussion. Usually, our books are more upbeat. Sometimes it is more interesting when people don't like the book......makes for good chatter. I watch DWTS and The Voice, as well. Wasn't 'Calvin' great? Loved his dance! He blew everyone away. That girl athlete was pitiful and just wouldn't stop talking. We have taped The Roosevelts. We love history.

emoticon Barb, hope your computer is behaving itself by now. It is cool in the mornings and evenings and just beautiful during the day here. I am wearing long pants more now though.

emoticon Barbie, you are exercising 3 times a day. Wahoo! I tried to space out my walking at the resort for after meals. Did end of walking more that way.

emoticon Karen, glad to hear that you are sticking with the crochet group. I love to crochet and always enjoy picking out a new afghan project. I love colors and patterns. I especially enjoyed working on my beading project at Capon. Sure need to focus on it, so I can move onto something else. I know it will be amazing framed.

emoticon Looks like we need to send a search party out for some of our Oners. Where is Lynn? Tricia still at Disney World? Alyssa? Missing Sue. Bet our trekkers are out hiking. Missing you, Oners, come out wherever you are!

Take care of YOU!

Lady Carol emoticon

Today, I am going to do things a little differently, after I drop my son off to his class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he only has one, so I wait around for him. There is a Wal-Mart near the campus and I usually get a little shopping done. This morning, I only have a couple of things to pick up, and I am going to set my phone timer and take a 20-minute Wal-Walk! I may go longer, depending on time, but that will be the minimum. Last night, I rode my bike for 15 minutes, and I haven't felt any ill effects from it, so that is a good sign!

I have three flute lessons, scattered later in the day. I think I may do some de-cluttering in between them. It sure feels nice once there is extra space, though it is a difficult process for me. Guess it's kind of therapeutic, in a way, also.

Have a great day!

****************************************

BARB – It is good to have a back-up drive. You're right about it helping; it can really save the day! That reminds me, I haven't backed my computer up in several months! Probably would be a good idea!

CAROL – Welcome back! So happy you had such a good time!

DOROTHY – I'm glad you had a nice time last night, and that next week will be even more friends, meaning even more fun! Does your bowling league meet just once a week? Do you go to the alley on your own sometimes, just to play/practice?

LOIS – Very nice that you doubled your steps goal on Tuesday. That always feels great!

NOLA – I still find it so odd that you are entering summer as we enter winter. I guess Christmas over there is much like it is here in Florida, lol! How rude those two women are, at the Red Cross Shop, to patronize you like that. You are right, someday they will get theirs!

THERESA – Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your father! That is terrible! I hope they quickly figure out what the source of the problem is and give him the proper treatment. The good thing about streaks is that you can start a new one today!

I gave up on my streak. I made it to 53 days. The stress of taking care of my parents and myself and my autistic son has just really brought me down. I did nothing yesterday except sit on the couch. I tried to do laundry but was only able to start the washer. Fell asleep at 7 last night on the couch and this morning realized I hadn't put the laundry in the dryer. So I had to run downstairs to put them in the dryer bc they're my sons clothes and he has nothing to wear to school today.
My father is back in the hospital they released him on Friday to the nursing home and Friday night he started throwing up blood and then on Tuesday he started bleeding out his penis so they rushed him back to the hospital Tuesday evening. I spent the whole day with my parents Tuesday. Today they are sending a scope down through his throat to his stomach looking for where he is bleeding from. He still has a touch of pnemonia. They released him to soon. My opinion.

Carol lovely to have you back. What a lovely break you have had.

I had a big morning at the Red Cross Shop. Lots of stuff being donated at the moment as everyone gets ready for summer. I do enjoy it, and I usually work with the same two women so we have gotten to know each other well. There are a couple I try not to work with that just because I am a bit more wrinkly patronise me and treat me as though I am losing my marbles. Oh well I believe in Karma, what goes round comes round. Their turn will come emoticon

Lois book club sounds interesting. We don't have one in our area, although they are in some towns. I quite like historical fiction, particularly when it is based on events that actually happened .

Barb I hope your computer is over its hissy fit. Good to back up,I learned the hard way when I lost my photos. Now they say the Cloud is not secure. I use another external hard drive to keep all the important stuff. poor Mr Spot is a bit close to the ground these chilly mornings. emoticon

Nicole emoticon for the green shoots already. That didn't take long.

Dorothy that is good to have dinner with your bowling friends as well as the game. Are you still working as hard as you were last year? I hear you on the garden being great therapy. I just find such peace in my garden. emoticon

I have my crock pot doing its thing at the moment. Lovely cooking smells coming out of my kitchen . Hopefully our meal tonight and some for the freezer.
Today we turned of the electric booster for our solar hot water. Our hot water will be totally powered by the sun until late May emoticon

Are you home yet Wendy? I bet you are tired out and can't wait to get your feet up. Thinking of you?

Are you packed yet Karen?

Enjoy your day!!

Book Club Day! It was an interesting discussion. Only two of us that were there today read the entire book. Several started it and then skipped to the end and some just got to depressed reading it. The book was Sandcastle Girls which was about the Armenian genocide back at the beginning of World Ware One. It was a fiction story, but a lot of history we I had no idea did really happen. It was a hard read, but after the discussion several decided they would go back and finish it. Along with the horror there was a beautiful love story. Don't know it others are watching The Roosevelt Story. Our discussion then turned to discussing the Roosevelt history. Very interesting day!

Just finished watching America Got Talent. What an amazing six finalist! Any one of them could have won. My other favorite is Dancing with the Stars. I also like The Voice and hope that they are on different nights or else I will be channel surfing a lot.

Feeling better and was surprised I had 2,039 steps in yesterday. Was pleased as my goal for now it at least 1,000 a day.

Nicole: Sounds like a good ay al-in-all! Glad to hear some green peeking through on your lawn.

Yes, I definitely had that rock in the pit of the stomach feeling when I had the computr trouble. But I do have back up on a separate hard drive, so that helps. Usually!

All the appointments went well, thanks!

Had my chiropractor appointment today and it was fabulous. I love the traction machine! After that, I had lunch with DH at the mall, followed by a 40 minute mall-walk (brisk pace, no stopping). Funny how hot you can get, even when walking in air-conditioning! I just finished a couple of flute lessons and will meet my father for dinner soon, along with DH and MIL. Also, today is the first day of a Biggest Loser Challenge I am doing, and I am hoping it will bring some good results!

There is a hint of green showing through in the big brown spot on the lawn. I am very hopeful that it will recover soon, especially since it's only been a few days.

****************************************

BARB – I am glad you were able to recover your important files. It is such a sick feeling when your computer starts acting up, and causes things to be lost. I hope your appointment this morning went well.

BARBARA – Wow, you have been having an action-packed day! Wonderful! Aqua Zumba sounds linteresting.

DOROTHY – I hope you have good time bowling tonight! It's great that you get to have a girls dinner beforehand. Makes it even more fun!

LOIS – It's good you are listening to your body, and not overdoing the PT exercises. Good luck rationing out those cookies! If you can limit yourself to just a couple a day, that is great. They sure do sound delicious!

NOLA – Bummer about the garden, but at least it was for a good cause. Now, you still have something to look forward to for Friday!

Wednesday – Had computer problems in the afternoon yesterday and it took me most of the afternoon to recover some files. Didn’t get all of them, but at least got the most important ones. **SIGH**

Otherwise, cool day but today promises to be a few degrees warmer. Got my early morning walk in and it was still cool. Gets me going @ a brisk pace.

Got an early appointment, so have a great Wednesday!

Lois: It’s good to listen to our body. Hope that a little bit of rest is just what you need.

OH my gosh . . . some foods just have jumping legs to go from the shelf to the cart right behind your back!

Barbie: October must be thyroid month. I have my labs, ultrasound (some nodules, but they’re cold), and bond density (lovely thyroid meds sap the calcium right from your bones. GACK!) So, we’ll see what the results are in another week.

Sounds like fun making cards. Good luck to your DD and grandie with the fundraiser.

Good job on the exercise! Wags and licks from my Mr. Spot to your Marv. Such good fur boys.

Nola: Oh my gosh . . . frankly, I don’t think there’s much that can prepare you for 4 am wake ups in the Winter, but hey . . . it’ll get done! UGH

We make it all in one day. This Sat. my Dr. appointment is @ 11 am, so up @ about 5, out the door by 8 am. And on the road. A visit with my parents and hopefully on the road by about 5 pm, home by 8 pm. PHEW I’m tired already, dang it!

Glad you could fill in @ the Red Cross Shop, but poor garden. It’ll still be waiting for you when you get to it on Friday. Hard to wait, I know. I am always chomping @ the bit by the time Spring arrives to get my hands in the dirt.

Barbie sounds like you and Marv had a great day. I hope today is as good.

Nicole- Your walkway sounds so smart, your grass will probably pop up again soon. I hope your Dads medication gets sorted out and he feels better. It is so scary getting old and knowing you are not as sharp as you used to be.

Karen - It is good the crochet group is continuing. Does everyone do the same project or do you do your own thing? I didn't get to try the Ab link today, but will get to it. Potential pears unite!! emoticon

Dorothy did you get to PIYO? How was it ? Are you spinning still as well?

Barb are you steeling yourself for the 4am starts in the winter. Sounds like a couple of big weekends lined up for you. Do you stop over at your parents for the night or do it there and back in the one day?

My time in the garden did not eventuate. I ended up at the Red Cross Shop from midday. Someone was ill and they like to have 2 there for safety reasons. Tomorrow morning is my regular morning there, so the garden will have to wait until Friday. emoticon

Good evening friends. I had an awesome day. First off was to the lab for my thyroid recheck. Then I came home, had breakfast and played with Marv before going to the Y for weights and the elliptical. Then home for lunch and more plaing with Marv. This afternoon I spent creating cards to donate for a craft fair my daughter is planning to enter as a fundraiser for my grandson's gymnastics team. I sure hope everything sells. We are having fun making things for it. This evening was aqua zumba.

Evening to all!

Have stepped back from trying to increase the time on my PT exercises. I think I was pushing more that I should have and that was probably my problem on Sunday and Monday. Will start back but liken up a little.

Target run today. I go with a list and coupons and still buy more that I should. Saw some Oreo cookies (Carmel Apple) which somehow or other ended up in my cart. Of course when the package said Limited Addition you know you have to have them Go figure! I put them in the frig and will try to ration them out.

Signing off the clean up the kitchen and then bed time

Good use of the lemons and even better idea to freeze the cake in portion-controlled servings. Awesome!

Karen: Good for you for going w/your Mom to the crochet group. Lovely hobby.

Definitely not warmer, but to be expected for our Fall. UGH Don’t much mind Fall, but HATE the winter that follows.

Thanks for the link! Awesome workout.

Nicole: Sorry to hear about your Dad. IT is difficult as they age – pride does get in the way of them doing many things they need to do to take care of themselves. **SIGH**

Good the walkway is done and the grass is hopefully a little more green!!!!!!!

Theresa: HUGS and many prayers.

Yesterday, we had to take my dad to the walk-in clinic. His ankles were swollen and his blood pressure was very high. Fortunately, it was not something serious. The doctor says everything was caused from anxiety. Our regular doctor prescribed Prozac for him years ago, when my mother went into the nursing home. But, he is so proud of the fact that he takes no medications (he just turned 75), that he discontinued it only after a couple of weeks. I really wish he would go back on it, but he most likely will not do it. He has a follow-up appointment with our doctor next week; maybe he can convince him.

DH painted the walkway by the front door last night. It looks SO MUCH better! Gives it a much more polished look than it had before, even after the pressure-washing. There are a couple of places he will probably want to go over again, but I think it looks fantastic. Now, just waiting for the big brown spot on my lawn to green up again.

****************************************

BARB – My back is feeling better this morning; I made sure not to sleep on my side during the night and that seemed to make the difference.

CAROL – Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday! How did the meeting with the contractor go? My tush is better this morning, but I'm sure DH would be happy to massage it if I asked, lol. I hope you and Bill are having a wonderful time in Capon Springs! Thank you for sharing the link; beautiful!

KAREN – Lol about wanting to be an upside down pear! How is the hand-walking going? Does that strengthen your hands for crochet group? Thank you for sharing the link about the standing abs workout.

LOIS – Sciatic pain is horrible. I sure hope your treatment makes it feel better! What sort of advice did the therapist give you?

NOLA – I have taken all my measurements and I am a pear! I haven't measured in several months and it was pretty eye-opening (in a bad way). I gained several inches, all over. Time to shrink back down. Thank you for the nice comment on my photo on my SparkPage. If you notice it is missing, it is because I was still editing the photo and settled on a different one. So, I didn't delete your comment, I deleted the photo. Mmmm....lemon cake sounds yummy! We do not use the word stubbie, but it certainly sounds fitting. Also, like others, I had to look up thrips, lol. How fun to be learning new words here! Your neighbor is very lucky to have you as such a dear friend. I hope her treatments go well.

THERESA – I am so sorry for the crushing news about your father. I understand how you feel. I always thought my mother would live to a ripe old age. She did turn 80 in March, but didn't even know it was her birthday. Basically, she doesn't know anything. I am also so sorry to hear about your youngest sister's passing. How devastating. Your family is very lucky to have you.

It’s been awhile but yesterday, Mom and I went to our monthly crochet group. They had sent an e-mail asking if the group should disband but I voted NO so I felt obligated to attend. Just knowing they were meeting made me feel better but that is not making me a member or helping the group so I will start attending regularly again.

Lois glad you are feeling a little better. Congrats on the A+ at OT.

We are having a great week of beautiful weather forecast with warmish nights as well so I took the opportunity to brew a lot of beer ready for the summer, it is all bubbling away nicely and should be ready to bottle in a week. We should get 5 doz. stubbies from this lot. Do you use the word stubbie? It is a small bottle 12 oz.

I was given a big bag of lemons yesterday so made a lemon cake and it has been all portioned out and frozen so no-one eats too much. emoticon

Nothing else much happened other than the usual everyday chores emoticon I did a bit extra because I want to spend the whole day tomorrow outside in the garden and planting a few more seeds. I have also been spending time everyday next door doing my neighbours PT and massage. She is my friend that has just had the mastectomy, she starts chemo on Thursday.

Have a good day everyone ! emoticon

Theresa, prayers for you and your family. It is really difficult when you have to do a turn about and become the caregivers for your parents. I am still pretty independent, but there are more and more things that I need to depend on my family.

Today was a little better day. It actually wasn't my foot that was causing the pain, it was the sciatic that seemed to flare up. I went to Occupational Therapy today and was given an A+ and don't have to go back. I can not put a stocking on my right foot so my doctor sent me to OT. With the help of a very nice young man we got it figured out. I was beginning to think I would have to hibernate for the winter. Now hopefully the sciatic will calm down and I can get back to try to increase my steps and get back to my PT exercises.

Karen, Nola, Nicole and Dorothy~ emoticon emoticon

Today was officially told by the doctor that Dad has dimentia that the Parkinson's created it. Our worst fear. So most likely he will not be coming back home. Its sad. Tomorrow they're having a team meeting about him so I gotta take Mom to it. I'm the oldest out of 4 girls the youngest died 3 yrs ago next week. So everything is put on my shoulders. Except the care of my Dad and Mom from June till now my sister who lives next door to them in a trailor park. I have to give her credit she has done alot for them. But all the legal/medical stuff comes to me. Dad has been throwing up since Friday night when we left him in the nursing home. The doctor ordered some blood and urine tests and see if he needs to go back to the hospital. He will be 79 yrs old in November. It would b nice to have him here with us till he's 99. His mother died at the age of 98 4 yrs ago.

I've done alot of rambling take care everyone and emoticon all for being a terrific support for me.

emoticon Good evening,

emoticon Doing a brief drive by as we are packing for a quick trip to Capon Springs Resort. It is a family resort that we've enjoyed for years. Bill and I are just spending one night. We leave early in the morning and come back on Wednesday evening. It really is in the country and my phone only works on the mountaintop and there is no internet, except at the front desk. The whole idea is to leave the busy world behind. Guess the world is changing sadly because people are finding that hard to do.

www.caponsprings.net/

Think I posted this link before when we had our family reunion there, but not sure.

emoticon There are lots of trails, so DH and I will be getting our walking in, plus 9 holes of golf in the morning. I will be thinking of you all as I sit down to the homecooked, fresh from the garden meals. IE! Intuitive Eating! Listen to your hunger, Carol!!!! Make healthy choices. Your voices will be ringing in my ears.

Got to dash to pack. Have a great Tuesday and I'll see you Wednesday night.

Lady Carol emoticon

emoticon Morning, Glories,

emoticon Brrrr, got on my long pants today. Autumn is here with its cool mornings and nights and warm days.

This is a Mah Jongg day for me, then a contractor coming to look at changing screened-porch into sunroom. It is so hard to get these contractors moving for estimates. Figure we will have to wait to spring to actually have it done.

Figure it's that time again for honoring my commitment:

Nicole: The back pain could be how you slept or how you walked. I know when my ankle hurts, I unconsciously walk to protect it -- my gait is thrown off, so my back alignment is not what it should be = back pain. Hope that subsides.

Frozen meals -- GOOD! Frozen "poop" -- NOT so good! LOL It gets so cold here sometimes there just isn't a chance to clean up before freezing! UGH

This is the first morning I've gotten out of bed and didn't notice any pain or discomfort in my ankle. So happy the injection has kicked in. However, my back is hurting a little more, specifically my right buttock. I think it has to do with how I was sleeping for a little while, on my side. It should feel better in a little while. I'm looking forward to my chiropractor appointment on Wednesday!

Nothing special planned for today. Going to walk over to my father's house this morning and do some work with him. In the evening I have a couple of flute lessons. Not sure what I'll do during the day, while Michael is in class. Sometimes I meet him in between, for lunch, but sometimes I go back home. (He has a long break between his two classes.)

****************************************

BARB – I'm sure it feels great having all those meals ready in the freezer. I don't often get to do that, but it sure is nice! It works out great since you have such a busy week! I didn't realize so much work went into putting the garden to sleep. Wow! Do the plants usually do pretty well in the laundry room? Ooh.....frozen dog poop? YUCK!!!

CAROL – I think it's good that you and DH got to just relax and unwind yesterday. Thank you for the links to your beading. Lovely! Awesome work at the gym!

DOROTHY – You sure have gotten a lot accomplished with your house and yard over the last few days. I really need to get more done around our house. Have you been bowling?

LOIS – I'm so sorry about your foot. Do you think it may be plantar fasciitis? Whatever it is, I sure hope you find relief soon.

NOLA – I have not heard from Alison or Sue. I sent Alison a SparkGoodie a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard anything. I hope everything is okay with both of them. How interesting about your illegal lantana there! I think that must happen here, also, as I have been trying to figure out how I found one growing wild by the stop sign at the end of our street (I uprooted it and planted it in my garden, lol). Birds would explain it! I will let you know in the next day or two if I am currently an apple or a pear, ha ha! Awesome about the clothes shopping!!! That IS the best therapy!

THERESA – I am so sorry about your father. I know how difficult that is, from my experiences with my mother with dementia. She has been in a nursing home for almost 2 years now.

WENDY - I hope you have a good trip!

Nola: OHhhhh. Now I know what a thrip is! Hmmm. . . nothing like that here. I love lady bugs too. They are so good for insect pest control. Not many here either! But usually see a larger # right about this time of year.

Glad you got retail therapy in and NEW JEANS in the NEW YOU size. Wonderful!

Too gross. My poor Mr. Spot's "poop" freezes around here in the winter, too, if left there. I try to get it up but there are other dog owners in the area who are not too thoughtful. **SIGH**

Theresa it is good you have such a safe place for your Dad. You are in my thoughts. Great that you are strong enough to keep your streak going, and not let the emotional stuff take charge. emoticon

Carol that is a beautiful iris beading project. Do you have to use a magnifying glass to do the work? AFL is Australian football. Not Grid Iron, Soccer, or Rugby, although 2 codes of Rugby and Soccer are popular here. All the States have teams in the major competition and at this time of the year is the big build up to the Finals.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y3w6nt9SYQ

Barb thrips are tiny little bugs with wings 1/20th of an inch that suck out the juices of the plants. They are smaller than aphids which are here as well. We usually have lots of lady bugs which we encourage to keep them both under control, but this year so far I haven't seen one yet. it may be a bit early for them to hatch.

Nicole your poor lawn I do hope it will come back. I bet your DH felt terrible about it. We are not allowed to grow lantana here, the pretty varigated one with the dark berries is considered a noxious weed in Australia. The birds take the berries into the bush and it gets away.

Lois I hope you are feeling a bit better tomorrow. The weather can have such an effect on aches and pains. Does your coffee group meet every Saturday morning?

Dorothy make the most of the fine weather. I remember you saying about everything including dog poo being frozen in your yard in the winter time. I hope you get a few more weeks in before all that happens again.

Karen there is hope for us yet. Barb used to be an apple and now she is a pear. emoticon Have you caught up yet? Will this week be organization and anticipation for next weekends break?

I got a bit of retail therapy in today. I went to the Mall which is near where Don had an appointment and there were some sales on so I was able to pick up some new tops and Jeans in the "new me" size. Made me feel good! emoticon

Any news of Alison and Sue?

Monday – again cool, but I’ll take it! 52 F right now, on it’s way up to 55 F. Doubtful, as it’s cloudy, but no precipitation. Did yard work today, then DH and I went out to eat. Nice treat. It felt good to just relax.

Onto the busy week.

Going to IL this weekend for my endocrine check up and will visit my parents, then have a Dr. visit the following Saturday and will again visit my parents. So . . . lots to stack up during the week that would normally be done on Saturday! But prioritize, prioritize, prioritize!

Lois: Hope that right foot feels better. Weather changes can surely have an affect.

Dorothy: Pears unite! LOL Got some yard work done yesterday, but today looks like a different story. NO precip right now, but supposed to later. We shall see. Most of the garden is dug under anyhow, so that’ll be all right.

4 am up todeay. DARK! That I am not liking, but don't expect a sunrise to be sen either as it'cloudy. Oh well.

Not sure what is going on, but today has not been one of my better days. Very uncomfortable to put any weight on my right foot. Am prayer that weather is playing into this discomfort. As a result I have had to limit my walking, Just looked at my pedometer and it show that I haven't been very mobile today. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully can get my act back together again.

Wishing all a great new week!
