ARGH!!!!! The scale reads exactly the same as it did last week - to the tenth of a pound. I didn't exercise as well this week, and I had one day that I overindulged calorie wise, but other than that, I did pretty well with my eating. I hope that means that means I'm set up for a good loss next week.

Barb: How nice that your mom will be close to you! I hope your spa day is WONDERFUL! emoticon

Wendy: Congratulations on your weight loss this week! emoticon

Nola: Olives, olives, everywhere - I'll bet you're looking forward to them being FINISHED! emoticon

Dorothy: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Wishing warmer weather for you!

Karen: Sending prayers for you and your mom! Hope the meeting goes well! emoticon emoticon

Eliza: Hope you enjoyed your special day! emoticon emoticon

Lady Carol: Missing you! Stay well - where ever you are!

Nicole: Missing you, too!

Have a nice weekend, my One-fer friends!

Nola - yes - we do get early spring snow storms - I have seen my daffodils covered in snow before - on the positive note - it does not stick around long. WE did not get the snow yesterday but we have a light covering right now and it is suppose to get down in to the teens tonight. I hope your olives got taken cared of - nice to have that task done. And hope all went well with the nurse.

Barb - hooray that is all starting to come together - what a relief that will be for you. Hope Jason's trip goes well.

Wendy - yea for all of the positives.

Going to wine on the lake tomorrow - can't wait to get away for the day.

I am finally going the right way with my weight loss Loss of 1.6kgs, 3.5 lbs. Yah. No night time eating. emoticon I had put on about 2kgs after my operation, not allowed to exercise.

Toe is sore and more bruising coming out.

I was lucky today as my DIL came down and brought some homegrown vegies down for me from her parents. Every little bit helps.

Glad everything is working out for you Barb.

Nola, hope you found a delivery service for organic fruit and veg.

thank you everyone, I am a survivor. Won't let this stop me.

At least the weather is now cool for me and a have been sleeping with the quilt for the last few nights. Good time of the year.

Friday weigh in day.......I'm Perfect emoticon

Karen prayers coming for the big meeting with the care home. It will go well, I feel it in my bones emoticon Great on the weight loss and 3 out of 7 NNNs. You are doing it emoticon

Barb what a huge relief for you. emoticon So glad your Dad is co operating and wonderful that the Facility will be close enough for visiting every time. The walk will be good for your Dad as well. That S stuff is hanging around. Not good.

Dorothy snow for you as well. Does it usually hang around this late? Great to see the bulbs popping up. emoticon

Wendy what's on today? I am going to Google organic farmers around here and see if I can find one who delivers. There is some kind of service Australia wide that does it in all the cities.

I wonder what that Carol is up to?

We are waiting for the District Nurse who should be here any minute. A new one today. Then
brine-ing the first lot of olives. Should all be done by Sunday and packed away..and I can claim my kitchen benches back.

Tricia, Nicole and any one lurking out there, have a great Friday!!

Thursday rain, freezing drizzle/rain, snow in the morning yesterday, but then the sun ended up coming out! Supposed to be a little warmer today. PHEW. Want to get an outdoor walk in.

Feeling like plans are a little closer to being gelled, so thats a bit of a relief! Ok, its a HUGE relief.

Dad is agreeable to stay here and Ill probably go with choice #1 for Moms continued rehab. If and when the time comes they can be together in a condo w/24/7 care for Mom, well do it together, Dad and I. I just have found talking with him that will work best. The facility for Mom is only 10 minutes away, so no problem going there anytime!

Thursday and can see the weekend.

Wendy: Great that you got a good report from the gastric bypass surgeon.

Oh heavens . . . . not good on the thyroid front. Prayers. Often times they do just follow this. Its tough when youre being followed AND its a repeat performance of cancer. UGH So sorry.

Yes, food = medicine, so the healthier you make it, the better for your body.

OH NO!!! What a downer having a broken toe! So sorry! No, they generally wont do anything for a broken toe. No way to splint it. Just have to rest it. **SIGH**

Nola: No sun, but no drizzle/rain/freezing drizzle/freezing rain/snow. That suits me just fine!

Glad that you had a good day @ the Red Cross Shop. Laughter is the best medicine.

Eliza: Happy Birthday! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hope your Mom is doing all right.

Karen: Rocking the meditation. IT REALLY HELPS!!!!!

Good on the 3 out of 7 for NNN. Awesome. AND . . . ta da . . . 1.6 lbs. released. Awesome!

Dorothy: Yes for sure it is very frightening for Mom when she REALIZES shes confused. Hard. But she had a pretty good day yesterday. Confused but calm. So thats a good thing.

Happy you had a good time bowling!

NOOOOOOOOO! NOT SNOW! We had rain, freezing drizzle/rain then snow early on yesterday but nothing that stuck, so thats all right.

The last few days have been quiet but also quiet busy. as Nola said I got a good report from
the gastric bypass surgeon.

But then I had my other appointment where they explained what they did and also the results. The results were that there 2 spots of cancer on the thyroid, they only removed half. One was .4 but the other was 7mm. They reckon it is nothing to worry about but I till have a half in there.

My case will be discussed on the 14th April when they have a round table discussion on what they are doing for the next month.

Not happy about this as this is the 4th time I have had cancer in 15 years.

Decided I am getting as many chemicals out of my life. I can control what I put in my mouth and what I use on me. Organic is the way to go.

I also accidently kicked my bed this morning and broke my toe, lovely lot of bruising.
and very sore. Nothing they can do for this. Didn't even go to the doctors.

Nola - thanks for the update on Wendy! That is a good incentive to keep the house clean - lol! I get so much joy from my gardens - they are my therapy. And this year I want to attaqck the grapevines up at our camp and get them under control and work on the flower gardens up there.

Barb - gad that your mom finally settled down. It must be so hard and even harder tat you have to wait for her to be well enought before you can move her closer. We had some mpore of that pesky snow - it just does not want to give up. Been really chilly the last two mornings.

Karen - what a lovely poem - I need to print it out - thanks for sharing.

Tricia - how wonderful th make a quilt for your 16th grandbaby - I am envious on both counts! I want to make my DD a quilt out of her old tshirts from races. There are so many projects I awant to do but never get around to - guess I need to start being more disaplined.

Good Morning! It is just after 6am and I am all caught up before the DNurse comes to Don. I must say having this happen each week keeps me much more disciplined about house taming.

Karen that is a beautiful piece that you shared with us, and Tricia I would be honoured to have my children (grey haired men) show me that and to know they had thought enough and cared enough about me, to print it up. I would not be offended at all.

Tricia enjoy your quilting. I'd love to see a photo of the completed quilt. What an heirloom to create for your Grandbaby.

Barb snow again. This morning I had to break out jeans, socks, and a pullover, so the warm weather is definitely coming your way, it is leaving here fast. It is great to have your brother able to send follow up messages to you, after you leave your Mum. emoticon

Dorothy your garden sounds lovely, I can feel your joy at the snow disappearing and your plants popping up. I hope you can spend a lot of time out there as the weather improves. I keep thinking of you and your blueberries. I am thinking of getting a couple in big pots. At least we would have a taste. emoticon

Had a text from Wendy last night. The Gastric Bypass surgeon gave her a good report, which is great. She will be home tonight after seeing the Thyroid surgeon.

I am off to get in some stretches on my Resistance Band. The only thing that keeps my shoulder aches under control!

Hi friends!

Karen: Thank you for sharing your reminders for caring for your mom. I copied them for myself! I'm debating if my mom would be offended if I make a copy for her. You are such a blessing to your mom! Good luck with your cleaning.

Barb: You and Karen must be on the same page! I'm glad you got to visit your mom. I hope the facility she's in works out well.

Dorothy: We have quite a few flowers on our yard, too. I have to be picky about what I plant, though, as it gets too hot here in the summertime for lots of choices. Have fun puttering in your gardens! BTW, your blueberries sound AWESOME!

Nola: YIKES! No fishing from the edge of rocky cliffs for you - that does sound a little scary! You can hang out with your one-fer friends while DH gets in some socializing with pole in hand!
Putting up olives DOES sound labor intensive. I had no idea. Hope your ten days of soaking goes by quickly!

Wendy: The salad you shared sounds delicious! I pinned it, and I'm going to give it a try. I hope your trip to Adelaide goes well!

Hello to Lady Carol, Nicole, and Eliza - and other friends I may have missed!

Well, lots to do today, I'm going to start on a quilt for our 16th grandbaby! Maybe I'll post a picture when I'm finished. Have a good day, ladlies!

Barb I hope your mother wakes up refreshed, glad you made it there for a visit and are back home. Missed you yesterday emoticon

I know you know all this but I wanted to share what I typed up years-ago and have it hanging up to remind me to stay focused and calm

It is not important to be right. Do not press for an answer or correct the accuracy of her statements.
It is more important to show concern, and love toward her

Be gentle and patient; treat her with dignity.
Be protective and continually believe in her.

Do not argue remind her then let it go

If your conversation has not been successful, try again later

At the days end make sure she received the best care possible

A time to mourn and a time to dance

Monday Well, Mom started out well, but by the time we left she was out in left field and not terribly cooperative. Obviously, no rationalizing with her in that state, but we had to leave. Brother called me later that she went back to bed and resting. I hope she sleeps the night.

Tired, but glad we went. Not great weather today . . . cold and . . . S-N-O-W. ACK!!

Karen - I have lots of flower gardens with lots of flowers and I keep jamming more in - I think I am addicted. Also ususally plant a few veggies but I also would like to start growing herbs. I too have the bedroom where everything lands - ugh! Always trying to get it cleaned out and than it gets filled again. Way to go on getting rid of the clothes - I took 3 bags out of the house yesterday but not becasue they were too big. emoticon

Nola - Glad all is well in your neck of the woods and that the storms are staying away.

Chilly morning here but the sun is out! emoticon

Karen have a good day. There is a Cyclone bobbing around in the North, but it won't affect us.

Great news on the skinny clothes are you getting a new wardrobe together? It is amazing what a little bit of working in "the room" helps to make everything feel better. Even if the door stays firmly shut. emoticon

Good Evening to you!

I hear yu about the junk room, but with just the little I've done the whole house seems lighter and happier

From 5 BIG bags of skinny clothes I still have 3 to try on, the pile is now in mom's room emoticon

As for the gardening, after 5 years in this home I still don't have a garden spot, my flower beds are in rocks and bad dirt.

My dream is having herbs, veggies, and flowers in raised growing boxes perfectly groomed

Are the ocean storms back on the horizon?
Have a wonderful evening and good sleep emoticon emoticon

Dorothy your camp sounds great. Emu oil is made in Australia, and a lot of people swear by it. When I was in Massage some people would bring it in to use on them. They have a good rub for sore muscles which we have here.

Wendy - safe travels and hope all goes well. Hurry back.

Nola - since our camp is up on a hill we have to wait for the snow to melt. We usually close it up after hunting season in November and start using it again in may. I am hoping on getting up there next month - hopefully the weekend after Easter to start pruning and whipping everything into shape before the mowing begins. We typically find our first ripe blueberry in July and can pick right through September - they are lovely and i freeze alot. I started operation poop scoop yesterday and got most of it out of my gardens - from here on in the gardens are off limits - or at least they are suppose to be - lol!

Barb - enjoy your visit with your mom - I hope she has a better day and that you can get the arrangements to get her moved closer to you so you can visit daily - hugs!

Karen - wow - that must have been hard to donate but I am sure your knee thanked you. So now it is on to your vibrator - emoticon

We enjoyed shrek and went out to eat afterwards - the neighbor girls wanted to go to a Chinese buffet - something i typically avoid but I went and enjoyed it even though it is so unhealthy.

Have any of you heard of using emu oil - a girl in my spinning class swears by it - says its good for everything from dark sots to inflammation.

Good morning Sunday is looking good here.

Wendy have a safe trip. Good you can stay with your brother and break the trip. I'll be thinking of you. I hope the Specialists are blown away with how well you are doing. Good the bloat has gone, that will make your kidneys happier.

Have a lovely Sunday when you wake up.

Barb I'll be thinking of you as you make the trip to IL again. With Jason being out of town this week is it going to be another girls week for you and Clara?

Dorothy I can remember last year poop scooping was one of your first jobs after the snow went. Have fun!! emoticon

Yes, sometimes it's more difficult than others to get organic produce, but I feel fortunate that we do have it available in our supermarkets and in the summer, there are lots of farmers markets to go to.

I have been busy getting ready to go to Adelaide. Leaving this afternoon but I am going to sleep at my brother's tonight. Makes it a bit shorter of a trip. Instead of leaving before 6 it will be about 7am so an extra hour sleep in.

have a great Sunday. See you all when I get sometime Tuesday.

not feeling as bloated and also have started releasing my urine and when I weighed this morning I have lost 1kgs since yesterday. Feeling good.

Most people when they hear about the caveman diet they automatically think meat but it really isn't all about that. When you think about the poor caveman, he used to have to track and kill the meat when it was around. He really had to gather more for his food.

It is about removing grains and dairy from your diet and eating more organic, healthy, wholesome foods.

When you read Nola's and Barb's post about the chemicals they use, it does get scary. Plus we had a hepatitis scare in Australia from imported fruit.

With what I have gone thorugh in my illnesses I think I need to be more careful as how do I know some of what I have eaten hasn;t added to my problems. This we will never know but it does hang over over me. Having cancer 3 times so far is not good.

My biggest problem at the moment is trying to get organic produce where I live.

Saturday Beautiful, sunny day yesterday. That was the way the first day of spring went. Glad of that. Not terribly warm, but not freezing either.

Mom still remains utterly confused. I think her confusion was a little less this morning. She is eating better. I think thats making a bit of a difference.

So, on we go. Going to visit Mom tomorrow, but can only stay a few hrs. Jason is going out of town later this week and there are several things we need to tend to before he leaves. **SIGH**

HUGS and enjoy the weekend.

Wendy: Its so surprising how our tastes change as our bodies change! Glad you found a way to use the meat that you couldnt eat!

That salad looks delicious!

Dorothy: Have fun @ the play tonight.

My Aunt had a few avocado trees, and indeed, they are HUGE compared to what you get in the supermarket.

Grains Wheat is the biggest problem! The wheat today is nothing like what our ancestors ate! Causes lots of problems. Then couple that with all the pesticides used on the grains we grow. **SIGH**

It is a gargantuan task trying to get them moved. I too dont know if it will happen in time. But trying!

Poop scooping . . . the chore of the day, too! With the mounds of snow we had, LOTS of surprises as the snow has melted! YIKES!

Nola - I did not know the olives was such a process - good that Don helps you pick them. WE have lots of blueberries up to our camp but i do most of the picking - i want to get up there and start pruning before they start growing for the season. i am going to the play today. My neighbor laughs at our avocados - she use to live near a avocado farm and they are huge - she said the ones we buy would fit inside of one of the ones she use to get.

Tricia - yea for the scale going down - way to go,

Wendy - my daughter is doing a diet much like the paleo - no grains. i found it so odd because for years they have shoved whole grains on us and now they are saying they cause many problems - what to do. That salad looked amazing!

Barb - hugs to you - hope your mom had a good rest. So rough. When my dad was going down hill it was so hard because he was 3 hours away - i was trying to get him home but did not make it. I think he just gave up - he said he was ready. Anyways - hope you get them moved near you soon - I am in for the king size meditation bed - emoticon

Wendy - way to go on the eating and exercising. Getting the two of them in the right amounts is the hardest - lol!

I have emoticon to get my grocery shopping done this morning and then I am going to the play - would like to be able to start scooping up that poop out in my back yard.

Love the salad recipe Wendy a bit different with the passionfruit and lime. I kept it to try. No avocados at the Festival. I could have bought lots of olive stuff. emoticon

you are right about our body changes, that is what mine is doing now. So man things I used to eat now just don't like the thought or taste of it.

I have always had trouble when I have eaten bread and drink milk, Give them up for a while then start again and then I curse myself.LOL.

I also now get terrific pain when I eat red meat, much to solid for me. So give it up Wendy

I got rid of a lot of meat last night at the BBQ as I supplied it. This was to get rid of it. Feel proud for doing this.

This is the salad I made last night

Hope you got some avacados Nola, You can make the above recipe LOL.

The trouble with the doctor Dad and Mum see was the flying doctor and loves the bush so Dad has a good chin wag everytime he sees him. Talks about the okden days. So good as a friend but not as a doctor. Frustrating.

I just had a peek at the weights. I'm proud of you all! I see NNNs are making a difference.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Dorothy I did get a bit of cooking done that day as it was too wet to pick olives. I made 2 meatloaves and portioned them up for the freezer but that was all. The worst part about olives is their skin has to be nicked and then they have to be soaked for ten days, changing the water each day and that gets the bitter taste out of them. They are all over the place,in containers that I can handle for the daily water changing. We have about 200lb of them and there are still a few more out there. Good you are feeling better. How was the play? Did the stage crew do a brilliant job!!

Karen I have Don up the ladder picking olives. I pick all the eyeline ones and get some to start then he does the high ones and low ones while I go on nicking them. I am quicker at that than he is. He helps with the water changing and lifts the 5 gallon containers that we finally brine them in. We have a production line going, we have been doing it for years. Because we have a combined kitchen/living area it looks a bit hohum for a couple of weeks.
It is lovely to see the duct tape is working emoticon

Tricia great on the weight loss. I love fishing, but I don't go with Don down to our local beach usually. They fish off a rocky out crop that I find a bit scary, Also he meets his friends down there and he needs that in his life without me.

Barb a king size meditation bed sounds just right, then after meditating you could just drift off to sleep for 10 hrs. Do I hear you say......I wish! emoticon

Eliza what a great age your Mum is, I do hope she can get moving again before too long. Thinking of you as you help her achieve this emoticon

I am sharing the Paleo journey with Wendy, so we are cheering each other on, As you know I have to have another Colonoscopy on May 14, so I am intent on having my insides healed by then. I just went gluten free at first, now I have almost gone grain free I feel terrific. No sign of any of my inside problems at all. So it is wholesome pure food for me in moderation and it is working. It really is how we have always eaten, but more focused now. It is finding what suits you and listening to your body.

I am off to the Capricorn Festival, our local festival just down at the end of our street. I am hoping the avocado man is there. I am hanging out for the taste of avocado at a reasonable price.
I'll catch you all later emoticon

Wendy: Yes, for some the paleo works. Basically what I have had happen is that my body changes as time goes on, so I have to modify. But thats all right. Its all about learning to tune in to what your body is saying, and you do that.

It is absolutely devastatingly difficult for Dad to go thru this. I feel the same way, but he of course even more so.

Mom was on Aricept for awhile in the beginning, but it didnt help her. I know my parents went thru several Drs. before finding a neurologist who helped diagnose her. Its difficult @ best.

You did a wonderful job eating @ the BBQ! Proud of you, Wendy!

Another thing I as thinking through the night is that I took over marianaded chicken drummettes(wing portions) that you buy from the major supermarkets. Left them all at Mums. Wendy Nil. Also loved these.

So many changes from before to now. I do know thta I am better not eating these.

Been looking into an anti-inflamatory diet as I know for years they have been saying that my CKD is caused by them being inflamed, so what I have come up with by researching is the Paleos diet. No, it is not all meat, it is no grains, dairy and only organicwholesome foods. What we used to eat. Lots of lovely reicpes on the Net.

Not giving up, I still need to help myself. Been on this kidney journey over 30 years now and there is still fight in me. Ban the dialysis LOL.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Such a hard time for you Barb and also your father. The scary thing we are having trouble with my father as we think he has the first stages. Doctor doesn't seem interested in finding out if he has.

Thank you Tricia, it is getting eaier after not eating these foods for 5 months.

Karen, with what I am eating and planning, I hope my stomach will be very happy with me.

Dorothy, thank you actually I didn;t even think of the sugar content so a added bonus. WOW.

Actually I forgot, for desert I had natural fruit salad while everyone else had this plus icecream and jelly. Sugar Wendy Nil.

Actually I need to pat myself on my back. emoticon no emotiion for patting on back.

Good morning friends! emoticon

I'm feeling excited! I just looked at my progress report for the last year, and my weight today is the lowest it's been since the end of last October! Glad that number is heading down, and I'm determined that it continue.

I've done pretty well with my eating all week - with the exception of one bad day. I could improve my exercise minutes though.

Wendy: Congratulations on passing up both cake and garlic bread! That's IMPRESSIVE! emoticon

Dorothy: Glad to hear you're feeling better. Enjoy the play! emoticon

Nola: It's good to hear that Don's leg is on the mend! Do you like to go fishing with him? emoticon

Barb: Sending a big hug your way! I'm sorry your mom has had such a rough past couple of days! emoticon

Karen: Double emoticon for you: for your mom being able to be close, and for conquering the nighttime nibbles this week! Hope the scale shows your effort today!

Nicole: I'm glad you got to see your DS and DIL, but I'm sorry about the family drama! I hope things resolve soon! Hope you enjoy participating in the "out of town" orchestra. Drive safely! emoticon

Lady Carol: I completely understand about computer time! It's so easy for time to slip away when seated in front of the screen. Don't stay away too long, though! Hope you are doing well and enjoying your busy life! What new adventure is around the corner for you? Are you heading back to West Virginia soon - or are you back already? emoticon

Eliza: I'm glad your mom's fall wasn't worse, and that she's recovering! Isn't it crazy how the tables turn - our parents take care of - and worry about us, and then we get to take care of - and worry about them! It's the circle of life! emoticon

Well, I'd best get busy and get something done! Lots to do around my house today!
Catch you later, One-fers! emoticon

Wendy - so proud of you - way to go. Cake would have been my downfall although I am geting better at staying away from sugar.

Nola - so glad that Don's let is doing better I take it you did not have your cooking day as you are wall to wall olives.

I am feeling my better - thank you all and am back to work today. Tomorrow the neighbor and I are going to see the all county school play - Michael is on stage crew.

Last weeks defeat is a gateway to many victories.
