Mom had a not-so-good day. Just agitated. But got her calmed down. She just gets anxious (part of the disease) and it is just not at all like the person she was before this horrid Alzheimer’s. *SIGH*

Today Amy was not Mom’s carer. I am wishing they’d let me know when a different carer is scheduled. I understand there may be schedule conflicts that come up, but each time there’s a new carer it means having to orient them to the “routine”. **SIGH** Just pooped.

Cold, cold, cold. That’s all I can say about that.

TGIF!!

Happy Valentine’s Day weekend.

Dorothy: I hope and pray that the appts. go well, too.

Enjoy your yoga!

Nola: Glad that the weather has cooled!

That’s awesome! Aldis is my other favorite store!

All I can say is you should see my calendar!

Karen: HUGS! Your Mom is getting good care, but it’s SOOOoooooo hard to let go.

Catch up with y’all later.

HUGS and Happy Valentine’s Day.

Checking in before starting my Friday, still hopeful about clear skies so we can play trains at the club.
Yesterday I did a little overeating seems like as soon as my mom is at the care home I feel lost and lose control following healthy habits.

Tricia - that is so sweet that your grand daughter was blessed in the same dress as her mommy. My daughters niece whom she is raising was blessed in a flower girl dress that Mylinda had worn when she was little - loved it. It brought back many memories as well.

Karen - hope mom gets safely back to Sheila's and that you and hubby enjoy your time with the little engine that can.

Barb - so nice that they can come to you instead of you having to take him to them. So awesome. Hope that all of the appointments go well well this month.

Cold and snowy here as well - single digits for us tomorrow. And back to the 40's next weekend - what an up and down winter.

Nola - hope all is going well with Barney.

Time to get ready for my yoga. emoticon

I had to run an errand for DH yesterday afternoon so I stopped at Costco and picked up some fresh produce to stock my pantry. Hoping that helps keep alive my baby streak of keeping calories in check!

Barb: Sounds like your ducks are in a row with your dad's health needs! I'll bet the PT is helpful. My niece is a personal trainer, and several months ago, she started doing twice a week face time workout sessions with my mom. It's not only helped my mom feel stronger physically, but it's helped her emotionally as well. She looks forward to the workouts, and is pleased with the progress she is making. Good luck with the ophthalmologist and the work on your teeth! This will be your beautiful smile when you're finished: emoticon In the meantime, no fun! emoticon

Karen: How long will your mom be at Sheila's? I hope you and DH have a ball with your Little Engine That Could. (Love that story, BTW. That's us with our weight loss efforts: We think we can, we think I can, WE CAN!) Do you have some healthy snacks packed for your jaunt? emoticon emoticon emoticon

Dorothy: Kudos on your bowling night! So much fun looking forward to a new baby in the family. emoticon and a big emoticon for grandbabies! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nola: Sending some luck your way for your puppy training! emoticon emoticon emoticon Hope little Barney is a quick learner! Your morning fog sounds awesome! We don't get foggy days here in the desert but once in awhile, and I enjoy a misty morning. I do hate to drive in the fog, though! The dress that our grandbabe was blessed in was the same dress that her mother was blessed in. Seeing her in it brought back sweet memories.

Sending a emoticon to Eliza, Debbie, and any other one-fers - past or present who stop in for a peek!

Have a good day!!!

Thursday – well the ball is FINALLY rolling with Dad’s PT. Yup . . . needed more to add to daily activities, but I am happy. The PT will eval Dad’s partially torn rotator cuff (r shoulder), partially torn Achilles (r leg), balance and strength. YES. AND the other good news is that IF he needs speech therapy they can handle that in our home, too. That is a blessing.

Not thrilled about yet another carer coming, but that’s what he needs. So be it.

And I believe, outside of the speech therapy, should he need that (and I suspect he will) the other isses will be addressed in probably 3 visits. We’ll see.

His swallow study and esophagram are slated now for the 16th. So then that will be history.

Today Jason sees the opthamologist in re: his cataracts. We’ll see how THAT one ends up.

THEN tomorrow I have visit #3 of hopefully 4 for my teeth. OMGOMGOMG. Just shoot me now!

It’s about 3right now and wind chill is way below zero! NOT liking it!

Dorothy: Congratulations on your pending Grandma-hood!

Good for you on the bowling!

Karen: Good luck on the trip w/your Mom to Sheila’s.

I am sure your DH has had fun tinkering w/the engine. Hope it works well.

Nola: Hope little Barney is doing well!

Tricia, Nicole, Deb and all the rest of you wonderful oner's -- here's to a good Thursday.

Today, it's transporting mom to Sheila's, so scrubbing and packing for our morning
Then tomorrow DH and I will test run our Little Engine (first time back in motion in over 30+ years) It was DH's first engine and he didn't have all the fancy machinery so he redone quit a bit so it should run smoother

Nola - Barney is so cute - I hope all are adjusting well. I think the baby will be arriving in August. No due date has been given to me yet.

Barb - hope all went well with Amy - I guess we all have to be a little cranky at some part of the day. So glad dad did not get hurt.

Tricia - love the picture and the proud grandparents. Sweet sweet baby.

Bowling went well - I was over ny average all three games.

We woke to a thick sea fog this morning. What bliss. Everything was cool and damp. It hasn't lifted yet, so we are getting some respite from the heat at the moment. emoticon

Barb I hope you were able to have some quieter time while the beautiful Amy was taking care of your Moms needs........or were you rushing about getting all those other jobs done hmmm! emoticon

Dorothy lovely to have your friends recognize your birthday. Congratulations on being a Grandmother again. When is the baby due? emoticon

Tricia that is a lovely photo. Thanks for sharing it with us. I love the beautiful dress the little one is wearing. Good keeping the cals under control.

Karen emoticon on passing the cookies.

Must get some chores done while it is cool. My routine is out the window at the moment now we have this fur baby. We are trying to train him properly so he will be well behaved when he is travelling with us in the RV. Takes time but worth it. He has had a name change, he is now Barney, Bruno just did not gel with his little personality. emoticon

Wednesday – Much quieter day yesterday, thankfully. We had snow, so had to shovel the drifts yesterday. I was an icy job as it was cold out.

Mom had a pretty good day yesterday. She just goes through spells of being cantankerous in the early afternoon. But she relaxed a little today. This morning was a cantankerous morning. **SIGH**

Mom’s carer Amy comes this morning so best get moving.

Dorothy: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have a good time bowling! emoticon emoticon emoticon

BWAHAHAHA! Dad’s picture is in the dictionary by the definition of impatient! LOL

Karen: Yeah on passing the extra cookies! Awesome.

Wow! You have beautiful weather!

Nola: Getting tired of the gremlins! Sheesh!

My heart still does flip flops replaying Dad’s situation in my head. Lord have mercy!

Oh boy. Sounds like it hasn’t cooled off any. **SIGH** And we’re getting colder. 11 degrees today and wind chills well below zero.

Glad . . .. SOOOooooo glad to hear about the good results of the biopsy.

Tricia: Hope you’re feeling better. It has indeed been rough for you! LOVE the picture of you! What a beautiful dedication dress your precious granddaughter has! That’s beautiful.

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes. No big plans - I bowl tonight and I am sure they will have cake for me. The people I work with had cake for me as well and one of my co-workers bought me a lunch - $1.00 at the cafeteria. I have been getting spoiled. I spent the weekend with my girls and we got pedis.

Tricia - hope you are feeling better - glad you had a nice visit with family and grandbabies. My daughter is pregnant - so excited. Your weather sounds perfect to me.

Nola - hope you are keeping cool. My computer had had gremlins as well - am thinking about getting a new tower.

Barb - Thank God your dad did not get hurt - he is not impatient is he??
And yea for no invasive testing.

Karen - hope all is well with mom and hubby and that the washing machine will soon be fixed.

Debby - glad all is going well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOROTHY!!! Have a WONDERFUL day!

This HAS been a tougher than normal year, for health issues for me - though more irritating than serious issues - thankfully! I hope that means clear sailing this coming year - as soon as I knock whatever it is that I have now - ha!

Karen: I'm beating, beating, beating! Think that burns calories? emoticon Kudos on passing up the extra cookies! I did well with calories, too, yesterday. I was at the upper limit of my calorie range, but was happy not to exceed it!

Nola: Oh no! I hate those pesky gremlins! Such good news that your biopsy results were happy! emoticon

This is my second attempt, the gremlins are at work.

Barb great news that your Dad doesn't have to endure the esophagoscopy. It must have been terrible watching your Dad fall in slow motion and not be able to get to him. So good someone was able to help him. Hope today will be more peaceful for you. emoticon

Tricia not again!! I hope you can shake this off soon. Chicken soup coming up emoticon I love those temps. I could use them right now.

Karen hope you got your "Me" time. Hope the laundry run is over before too long. The fans and ice sucking is going non stop in this house. emoticon

Dorothy have a lovely day. Are you doing anything special for your birthday? emoticon

Debbie keep up the good work. Don't work too hard. Don't forget to have some time for you as well.

The result of the biopsy on the lump on my arm is good. Nothing nasty, so all is good.

Hi ladies!

Back from our weekend trip. The blessing was wonderful, and the trip through the state was beautiful - especially the sunset over the snow-blanketed hills and fields on the way home. Nursing a sore throat and earache though, the past couple of days. Drat! Hoping I can lick it without the need for antibiotics.

Debbie: Your reports on your progress are so positive! Great!

Barb: WHEW! Glad your dad wasn't hurt, and emoticon for no esophagoscopy!

Karen: Enjoy that "ME" time! No washing machine yet, huh? Shootie! Hope you can work off your Super Bowl splurge before tomorrow morning's weigh in! My calories were so-so on our trip, could have been better, but definitely could have been worse.

Dorothy: Sorry about your cold spell! Our 10 day forecast: 66, 69, 71, 73, 72, 70, 73, 74, 70, 65! Y'all can come visit! (The first four days last week saw highs in the 40's. That's a quick turn around!)

Nola: WOWZA - 108 degree temps! That sounds like our summers! You need a cool pitcher of lemonade and a recliner in front of an air conditioning vent! (Or feel free to come visit - our temps should be nice for the next couple of months!)

Have a good day!

Hi Eliza! Hope you're well!

Tuesday – Well, it snowed. DANG IT. Not a lot but enough that I had to shovel to get Dad out for his appointment. Dropped him off at the drop off area by the Drs. office @ the hospital, which was fine. I had told him to bring his walker with for stability. That was a good call. But DANG . . . he started to get out of the van before I could get around to the passenger side (I drove). He was going to get his walker out from behind the seat, and lost is balance. It was like watching a train wreck in slow mo. Thank GOD somebody coming out of the hospital saw it happening and got to him before I did and Dad just landed on the seat and was all right. OMG, I swear I had to restart my heat.

Good news is no esophagoscopy. He will have a swallow study and depending on the results, work with a speech thereapist to learn techniques to swallow that should at least lessen that feeling of food being stuck. A little outpouching can happen in the esophagus and it catches food, hence that choky feeling.

So, no esophagoscopy. Thank GOD!

Dorothy: I’m in line for a non-exciting day! PHEW

Karen: Boy this morning’s walk was FRIGID! 10 degrees, minus zero wind chills. Sheesh! Have to finish up shoveling too, but going to thaw out first.

Sounds like a busy day. Here, too.

Nola - suppose to get in the single digits sometime this week - if we can get our two weather patterns to merge I think we would both be happy. Stay cool my friend.

Barb - I do hope dads appointment went well, And yea for another good carer. What a relief. And your mom must enjoy having different people to visit with,

Karen - hope your outing with mom went well and the lunch was delish..

Not too much excitement here yesterday - and that is ok by me. Michael did have the day off as it was a energy day, They build energy days into our school calendar in case school has to be cancelled because of the weather.

Up early for another hot day 108F predicted. Have had 2 already and another 2 after today to come. The nights are staying hot between 75 and 80 so it is all a bit relentless. Don did have a dentist appointment this morning but we cancelled it for now and just stay home.

Barb how great to get another gem of a carer. I hope she is a keeper for your Mom and they don't shift her somewhere else. Take care in that snow with your Dad.

Dorothy glad you are well again and walking on air. Sounds a lovely Saturday with your girls and grand kids.

Karen did you have a nice lunch with your Mom.

Have a good Tuesday when it happens at your place. I'm getting a few things done before it is time to shut the house down and suck ice cubes emoticon

Monday – Very busy Monday. Fortunately the van did take a charge and started yesterday. Have to get it to the dealership.

Mom’s carer (NOT the one I like) is coming today, so have to be ready for that.

Then Dad has his GI Dr. appointment @ 2 pm. Prayers please. Swallowing problems.

Addendum: Had a change in carers today. I ADORE this carer, Linda. What a sweetie! Did very, very well with Mom. If both she and Amy continue, I will be a VERY happy camper.

Donna: Glad you have happy feet and are ok!

Karen: Good luck w/your Mom.

Dad has his GI appointment today and it freakin’ snowed. **SIGH** But got the shoveling done. HOPING that the hospital lot is habitable! Will have to drop Dad off @ the entrance. So be it!

I am fine - thanks all - was out out of town over the weekend. That and with my home computer acting up it has been hard getting here. But all is well. Spent Saturday with my girls and grandchildren. My girls and I all got pedicures - now I have happy feet!

Karen - glad to hear that mom came through the scare ok. Hope that washer gets fixed soon.

Tricia - hope the baby blessing was a good day. I like my bag-less and have to empty it as well before I use it and after. I am also the one that pulls it apart to clean all of the filters. But I still love it.

Barb - smart move to be able to take Mr Spot on half of your walk. Glad to hear that the home care went a bit smoother. Hope mom had a happy birthday.

Nola - we are getting ready to go into a very cold week here while you are dealing with your heat. crazy! But the weekend was just beautiful!

Enjoy the Super Bowl everyone. I must say their tight pants are definitely much better eye candy than plumbers cracks. emoticon
Another hot one and up early again to get a bit of outside time before the heat.

Barb emoticon on the van starting. Hope it is nothing major when you get it checked out. emoticon

Karen Youch on the washing dollars. Hope it gets fixed permanently soon. Enjoy your couch time, chips and dip plus the feet up most important.

Eliza great to see you here. Hope you and Pancho are going well.

Dorothy are you OK

I'm off to hang out the washing. One hour outside should be enough to dry it today.

DON'T FORGET TO WEIGH IN WHEN MONDAY GETS TO YOUR PLACE.

Sunday – Mom enjoyed the birthday celebrating. Might have worn her out though. She was asleep by 8 pm. That’s good.

My van would not start yesterday. Have it on the battery charger since last night. Praying it works. **SIGH**

Karen so sad about the washer. What a bummer. emoticon Great on your Mom responding to you. So good. emoticon

Barb does Mr Spot have a waiting place on your walk where you catch him up on the way home. Or is that what the back pack is for?

My mom is coming around and after dinner she held/squeezed my hand, right now she is setting with me and we are eating breakfast (me a fruit smoothie she’s having oatmeal)

OH, the washer is not fixed, it done 1 load and quit again, so I’m headed to laundry matt with 3 big loads today than 3 tomorrow. I did get DH’s work clothes done so he is back in business. Next appointment is next Wednesday

Nola ~ way to go cleaning out some stuff plus thrilling DS and family with all your treasures. I Googled Daihatsu Feroza it looks a lot like a jeep
ALL that heat and for so long that would sweat some pounds off me emoticon
More ice and water your way emoticon emoticon

Barb~ So Mr. Spot doesn’t do the entire walk with you are you packing him the rest of the way? What about a backpack or stroller?
LOL for the plumbers visit, I went shopping for Super Bowl Sunday snacks so missed most of the show this time. Did ask if we was good enough friends NOW if I could bring my wash to his house. He just laughed. If this unfixed washer keeps up the laughing will be stopping emoticon

For your mom's Birthday emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Dorothy~ OH NO are you sick? Hope somebody is bring you soup emoticon emoticon

Tricia~ so glad your physical therapy appointments are coming to an end hope to see you back with all the vertigo as a dim memory
Thinking of you and family this Sunday emoticon

Elizabeth~ sending sunshine your way emoticon

Emily~ Miss your visits, are you OK and working your SP goals

Debbie ~ is it hockey or football

Saturday – well today is Mom’s birthday and she really doesn’t realize it. But we’re having a little party for her. My brother cannot come as he has the flu, so we’ll just “wing it”. Balloons, small cake, the singing of Happy Birthday.

Nola: Glad you have extra space now! Good for you.

Stay cool! YIKES! That’s hot.

Karen: Same question --- LOL – still have eyesight after the repair tech’s visit? HOPE the washer is working now.

Eliza, Dorothy, Nicole, Tricia, Deb and all the rest of you wonderful Oner's . . . catch up w/y'all later.

Did you remember to weigh in?

Have just said goodbye to DS and family and such a load of "useful stuff emoticon " from Dons shed plus Dons little fishing Daihatsu Feroza which has been parked in the backyard for over a year and not used, but still gets lovingly attended to to keep it going just in case. Lovely big space in both the shed and yard. emoticon

Now to get into low profile mode for the heat. Sunday Monday Tuesday and Wednesday forecast to be up to 44C (111.2F) with nights as much as 77F. We may be lucky being closer to the ocean and not get quite that hot. emoticon

Barb that is amazing that it is almost a year since your parents moved in with you. Lovely that you are getting sunshine already. Also that you found time for a nap. It doesn't have to be a long one to feel rejuvenated. emoticon

Karen how is your eyesight after the visit from the fixit man. emoticon Is your washing machine up and running again. You will probably wear it out getting through that mountain of back washing. Is your Mom feeling more comfortable again. emoticon

Tricia enjoy your drive through your winter wonderland and have a beautiful weekend. emoticon Lovely the vertigo is reduced. it must make you feel so much better.

Dorothy are you feeling better. I hope you are able to get a bit of R and R this weekend. emoticon

Eliza how is your car. Are you up and running again. Does Pancho ride shot gun? emoticon

Debbie are you hockeying this weekend? emoticon

Have a lovely weekend Sparkie friends and don't forget to tell someone you love them. emoticon

Thanks for the good wishes for our weekend trip! There is snow all through the state, and it should be a beautiful drive!

Barb: Are your mom and dad living at your house now, or are they just close? Feeling like I might have missed something!

Karen: Congrats on winning the substitution exercise! emoticon Keep up the good work. Not sure about the temple grounds this trip, perhaps! I'll bet they're beautiful all dressed in white! Is your mom home for good, or for a visit? I'll bet you two have fun together!

Nola: The vertigo is not completely gone, but doesn't bother me too much. I'm doing well enough that I had my last physical therapy appointment on Tuesday. Hopefully, it will completely recede into history soon! I chuckled about you being exclusively the vacuum queen at your house!

Have a good weekend, all!

Friday – Early day. Got a walk in before Mom’s carer came today so I could do a few things while she’s here.

Yesterday was full of sunshine. Needed that to be sure!

Nola: Sounds like the best plan to just lay low with the heat!

Mr. Spot the Wonder Dog goes out with me but doesn’t do the entire walk. He does pretty good, though. He gets about ½ hr. walk, and he’s a happy camper!

Karen: BWAHAHAHA . . . . just have those sunglasses on when the repair tech gets there! LOL emoticon

Sending strengthening vibes your way to ask Bob to vacuum. I hate asking Jason, too, but he does a good job when he’s of a mind to.

Just got a wee bit of a nap yesterday but it really does help!

Hope your Mom is doing well.

Nola ~ LOL so you’ve never seen Don on the working end of the vacuum, emoticon Sending more cool breeze for the worst heat wave in 3 years emoticon

Barb~ I’m glad you’re getting your naps in, that little shut eye helps with the stress. I will be adding outside walks to my distress-or list

Dorothy~ hope the new medication is kicking in and you got to bowling emoticon

Tricia~ congratulation on the .75 calorie good days, soon the scales will register your accomplishments. I had a success last night with the BLC Distraction/Substitution Game; when my mind was saying chocolate donut I did bicycle pumps and it worked.

How wonderful Sunday will be your grandbabies blessing. Will you tour the temple grounds too. During Sunday services, I will be thinking of you.

Tricia have a lovely time at the Baby Blessing and lots of cuddles. How is the Vertigo? Is it on the way out? I hope so.

Karen thinking of you all as you take care of your Mom. So good to have her at home. I could do with the wind coming off a snowy Mountain right about now and it is going to get worse and continue for about 6 days. The worst for 3 years. I have all the food in and apart from slipping out tonight to have a meal with friends, we will be keeping a low profile. emoticon

Dorothy sounds a good idea to go back on your old meds if they worked for you. Hope you improve soon. Actually I have never in 48 yrs seen Don on the end of my vacuum cleaner so if anything goes wrong I am in the hot spot. Luckily nothing major has. emoticon

Barb great you could get out in the fresh air. Does Mr Spot go too or is it all too much for his feet. emoticon

Heading to the kitchen to make a lemon cake for the family tomorrow. Have a great Friday.

Hi friends! Mixed report for me today. I'm continuing to do well with exercise and water, fairly well with getting enough sleep, but I'm still struggling with the calories. I'll get it going here soon, for me it's kinda like spinning a ball on your finger - the hardest part is getting started. Once the ball's spinning, it's easier. I've had several partially good days - ha! The scale doesn't care about a partially good day, but I'm aware of my successes and failures, and I'll take successes even if they are three quarters of the day. Still baby stepping. DH, DS and I are planning to go to Salt Lake City on Saturday. Our daughter's baby is being blessed on Sunday. Hoping we are all well enough to go. DH and DS have been sick this week, and I'm doing everything I can to stay well. I've had a baby cold, but Airborne and Zicam have seemed to keep it in check so far!
Keeping my fingers crossed!

Debbie: Keep up the good work! Your good reports are inspirational!

Karen: Glad you had fun on your girl's day out! Wouldn't it be fun if we could have a One-fer girl's day out together! That would be a ball! Hope your washing machine is repaired soon, and that you weather the laundromat OK!

Nola: Your little Bruno is adorable! I can just imagine you spoiling him - he's such a cutie!

Dorothy: I like my bagless vacuum! I, too, have to remind DH to empty it after each use! I just usually end up emptying it BEFORE and AFTER I use it! Ha!

Barb: So glad to hear you have an excellent caregiver in Amy! What a blessing! Nice that your weather was good enough that you could walk outside!

Eliza: Thinking of you! Have a nice weekend!

Thursday – well, the caregiving went much smoother today w/Amy. Happy camper.

So tired, am hoping to get a nap in this afternoon. Did take a walk outside early this morning and that helped. Not bad for the beginning of February.

Nola: Good luck w/the fine tuning the breathing machine for Don.

Poor Fur baby. Yes, their care in the beginning with all the vaccinations, etc., is expensive, but so worth it.

Passed on the thank you hug to Mr. Spot.

Enjoy the weekend visit.

Dorothy: We’re into calm weather right now. I’ll take it and the sun is out to boot. Hurray. Cold, but that’s manageable.

Hope you feel better.

Karen: don’t you feel like some days you’re earning that check for sure. GRRRrrr.

OMG! Your Mom choked! That’s horrible. Oh goodness. Sending hugs your way. Definitely a roller coaster ride, and I’m not fond AT ALL of roller coasters!

Hope that today goes better with your Mom @ home.

Mom is home check out why, written to Barb

This morning, I need to get mom's pills, forgotten ER papers, and more stuff from Sheila's.
Mom was coming home today at 2pm so it's just a little early and a LOT MORE EXCITING

emoticon

NOLA sending some COOL USA BREEZE YOUR WAY emoticon emoticon
Glad the appointments are done and ALL your loved house mates are home

Barb I need an Amy, my mom chocked at Sheila's so we met at ER and brought her home last night. They said all is OK and that the hard part was done by the time they got to care home. more antibiotics for dark spot on lungs.

Here's to the ROLLER-COASTER RIDE emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Dorothy during our vacuum shopping we heard the bag less models don't last as long (and it was a man explaining that and with no mention 'the job isn't done until vac is cleaned') I didn't understand why the canister or bag would effect the motor but now I know emoticon emoticon emoticon

Karen - same thing with my sweeper - its bag-less but it needs to be emptied every-time it is used - hubby just can't figure that out - he burned out one. I ask him not to use it if he is not going to empty it and it falls on deaf ears. He had it so packed with dog hair one time - yuk! Ravioli sounds yum! Good luck at the laundromat!

Nola - pets are indeed expensive. But I am sure you are going to indeed enjoy your bundle of joy. Enjoy making your goodies today in preparation for the family!

Barb - one angel and one devil emoticon emoticon Hope the Monday girl straightens out or she will certainly get the boot. Glad you did not get hit as had as predicted. Hope the ice melts quickly.

Still struggling - no bowling - have a retirement party to go to tonight. I have decided to go back on my old thyroid meds and see if I feel better.

I've had a busy day, first Don to Breathing technician to fine tune his breathing machine, then this afternoon to take Bruno to the vet for his health check, microchipping and vaccinations. I think this Fur baby is going to be quite an expensive hobby, but he is worth it. Just to see him bopping along behind Don out in the garden makes me feel good. emoticon

Barb hooray for Amy. What a Gem. I hope you get the Mondays sorted for your Mom with another good carer. Give Mr Spot a "Thank you" hug. emoticon

Dorothy I hope you are feeling better and were able to get to bowling. Chicken Soup coming up. emoticon

Karen have fun at the laundromat. Hope your fixit man can get your washer going soon. Sounds like Ravioli will be on the menu soon emoticon

It is working up to a Heat Wave at the weekend, with 104F predicted. We have No 1 son Cheyenne, Alex and DIL coming on Saturday for a few hours to take the stuff from Dons Shed that they want, so tomorrow will be spent cooking a few goodies.

Have a lovely Thursday emoticon

Wednesday – Well the storm was not nearly as bad as predicted. About one to two in. of snow – yup that’s all. BUT lots of ice. WE are all right though, thankfully.

And the Punx predicts an early spring. I’ll take it!

Today Amy (my angel) come for Mom. So, at least I know Mom will be well cared for. OF COURSE, I always have my eagle eyes peeled, but she is really good with Mom.

Otherwise, hoping for an uneventful day!

Nola: Yes, grateful for his prediction, but hope it stays true!

Awwwww, Mr. Spot sends wags and licks to little Bruno and says so glad he’s in his forever home.

Debby: We had rain, snow, sleet and ice and wind, too, but nothing like they predicted. PHEW

Hope you’re feeling better!

Hugs and waves to all the rest of you beauties and will catch up later.

Hi girls - left work on Monday not feeling good and was home all day yesterday. Still not feeling good but am going to try and make it through the day. Suppose to bowl tonight - sure hope I feel better by then.

Nola - enjoy the furry ball of sweetness. Thanks for the update on Wendy.

Barb - I would not have been happy either - very unprofessional. Stay safe - hope the storm does not hit you too hard. We have pouring rain and high winds.

Karen - yikes - hope you get through all of this - broken sweeper and washing machine. Hope the red hat luncheon was fun.

Debby - glad to hear you are doing well and did not get much snow.

Have had a lovely day collecting our little Bruno, bringing him home and settling him in. He is so lovely. A little bouncy square soft pup. I can see myself getting a lot more steps in, in time that would have been spent on the computer.

How good to hear your groundhog says an early Spring. They showed him on our TV as well. He is one weird looking animal.

Debbie great that you are keeping on track even though you are so busy. Keep up the good work.

Karen how was the Red hat Ladies lunch with your friend. Are they all on a diet and do they serve healthy stuff to eat. Hope you had a lovely time.

Tricia, Barb, Dorothy and Eliza waving at you and hugs all round.

Jason is still working from home because Madison is getting clobbered. YIKES

Nola: Well, we’ll see how things go next Monday. If she’s late, that’s it for me.

Very glad that Jason can work from home today. We’re doing all right, but Madison, where he works, is getting clobbered.

Very glad that you heard from Wendy. Sorry to hear she has family things going on. Glad she’s taking the time out as she needs.

Karen: Waving as you fly by. Hope we don’t crash into each other. Flying today too.

Deb: Glad the weight is being released.

Glad too that it will supposedly be an early Spring.

Happy Groundhog Day! Looks like he did not see is shadow so it will be an early spring. So far the winter has been kind to us. They were calling for 36" of snow on January 24th and we ended up getting 1.8" - I was perfectly OK with that.

I have been keeping myself busy with attending hockey games and watching them on TV. Work is busy as two people are on vacation for the month of February and most of their work is going to fall on me (Oh YEAH).

I'm still eating good, exercising and sloooooowly the weight is coming off!

Everyone stay strong and keep going!

Karen so good Friday is the day for the washing machine. Watch out for those plumbers cracks. emoticon Bruno does sound a bit more mellow than Brutus. I think there will be a lot of hiding behind his mothers skirts, they are a fairly docile little dog. emoticon I love your plans in place for the summer, fingers crossed it will all happen.

Barb are you bunkered down for the storms. I hope it all passes quickly . emoticon
In this day and age with mobile phones there is no excuse for your carer being late. It is just good manners to stay in touch and let their clients know where they are up to . So stressful for your mother. emoticon So good Jason can work at home in the awful weather.

Dorothy Is your freezer filled with filleted fish. Sounds yummy even though you seem to chase fish scales in odd places for months afterwards when it's done in the kitchen emoticon

Tricia thanks for sharing that lovely saying. Sounds like you are back on track emoticon

I heard from Wendy yesterday. She is going OK and hanging in there with the dialysis. She has a lot of family stuff going on as well so altogether it is taking up all her time. She will be back, but needs some time out at the moment.

The scales did not move for me this week. emoticon Must try and do better next week.

Monday – Well rainy, ugly day yesterday. Don’t know what today holds yet, but hoping the storm tames before Tuesday and Wednesday! It’s quiet right now.

Well, today is the 2nd carer day. New one this time (she’ll be coming on Mondays). Hope it goes well!

Update: Well, she arrived TEN MINUTES LATE. Not a not a good start. UGH Did not make up the 10 minutes either, so have to call the agency. I am willing to have her next Monday, but if she’s late again, that’s it. Mom was up @ 6 and ready for help with bathing . . . . that’s the whole idea of having the carer! So, if she’s late next time, we need a new one for Monday’s.

ACK! Calgon take me away to someplace warm and SNOW FREE!

Nola: Oh my . . . . prayers and all good wishes for the results of that biopsy.

Ready for the storm. HOPING that not too much snow. But we’ll see.

Next dental appt. is 17 February. Can’t wait. Temporary is driving me NUTS!

Bruno is so cute. Whenever I hear the name Bruno I think of Bruno Mars. Love his singing!

Dorothy: No sigh here of the storm, either, but already watches and warnings posted. Jason will work from home. Glad of that.

OH boy, I feel lucky that DH doesn’t even notice when I toss stuff when he’s gone. HEE HEE Works like a charm.

Yup . . . . I’d be hitting the laundromat too. Wouldn’t like it, but . . .

Karen: I’d be lost w/the washer and the vacuum down for the count! OMG.

People are absolutely nutsophrenic before a storm. Fortunately the shelves weren’t bare on Saturday, but I’m SURE they are today!

Tricia: Love your post!

Wendy, Nicole, Deb, and all the rest of you beauties. . .. hope all is well!

My washer is being looked at and I hope repaired on Friday; the only good thing about this is I am digging deeper into my closet for other outfits. My mom comes home on Thursday so she can help stare the guy down so he knows “mix the machine” emoticon emoticon

As for the vacuum we now have a model number SO we will revisit all the stores again emoticon

Today, DH is guy shopping and I’m riding along with my sewing and a book. He just likes me there.

Our travel plans in the spring/summer surrounds trains or visiting friends that live by a train club. Also on the list is visiting the Oregon museum with Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose (largest wingspan of any aircraft in history)

Also, 2 more trips to the coast to finish visiting Oregon’s lighthouses.

Nola ~ LOL so it is Bruno not Brutus sounds like the Rottweiler’s mellowed cousin but still nice and fierce. Do you have buzzards that Bruno will need to scare off? For a while, Bruno will need to stay inside and be scary from behind mom’s skirt.
Hope the lab results are clear. emoticon

Barb~ are the store shelves bare? glad you got in early
Do you have a generator for power, or fireplace for heat?

Dorothy~ YUM cleaning fish in the house kitchen SO SORRY our men don’t know what drives us CRAZY. Hope your bleach bottle is ready; remember SMILE BIG AND SAY HOW HAPPY YOU ARE TO HAVE THE FISH READY TO COOK
emoticon emoticon

Tricia~ this week are you entertaining company? I think I'm done overeating and back to losing emoticon

Barb - still no sign here of a storm. Got windy and rained last night but it is still in the 40's - feels like summer - lol!

Karen - glad mom is doing well. I would not even think of taking my DH to the laundromat - put that right up there with shopping with him. HAHAHA - He has no patience. If my washing machine broke down I would probably be hitting the laundromat everyday - lol!

Nola - Bruno will certainly keep you on your toes. I wish I could get hubby too part with stuff - he gets rid of 1 or 2 things and buys 3 or 4 emoticon But I am getting rid of stuff and that feels good!

Did get my downstairs dusted and the sweeper run yesterday. Still waiting on hubby to filet the fish he caught last week ice fishing before my kitchen gets a good going over - it is making me a little crazy.

New month. I hope it is an extra special one for you all. Glad you love our fur baby. His name is Bruno. We pick him up on Wednesday and have him booked in at the Vet for micro chipping and shots on Thurs. I am worried I won't be able to keep up with him when we go for a walk. emoticon

Today I had a hard mole type lump off my arm. Will find out if it is OK on Wednesday week.

Barb that is beautiful that you have a great match with Amy. Hope you are already for the stormy week. When is your next dentist appointment? emoticon

Karen 6 days washing...great way to safe water and electricity. It must be awful. When is the washing machine coming home? Did you get a new vacuum cleaner? Good to have some Hang out time with DH enjoy the moments.Where are you planning to go in the summer if everything falls in to place? emoticon

Dorothy your house and closets must be just about perfect with all cleaning you and tossing you are doing. It is a great feeling. We tossed a lot of "it might come in useful" stuff out of Dons shed yesterday and put aside all our rock hounding machinery, that Cheyennes' Dad wants, Which made a huge space emoticon emoticon Hopefully they are coming up at the weekend and will take it.

Don't forget WEIGH IN emoticon

Nola - he is adorable - I want to hold, snuggle, and smell him. I hope he and you all adjust well together.

Barb - I just checked on our weather again and we get all of the percip on Wednesday - it looks like it is going to be 50 - I am not going to complain. Hooray for Amy - glad she has worked out so far. emoticon

Karen - yea - no sinkhole for you. That is exactly what I would be doing if I had to go shopping with hubby. Good luck in buying your new sweeper - how is mom??

I cleaned out the linen closet and the drawers and cupboards yesterday in the upstairs bathroom and threw away a ton of stuff and found more stuff to take to our cabin - hooray! What a wonderful feeling - one more closet to go upstairs. Today I need to dust and run the sweeper downstairs. Also need to find out if the consignment shop is excepting any clothes. Oh the the federal taxes are done and filed. Will wait and file state and local closer to the due date.

Saturday – Holy jackpot to beat all jackpots. We hit the jackpot w/the caregiver, Amy. She’ll be here on Wed. and Fri. and another aide will be here on Mondays. She is an angel! Mom took to her right away. Hallelujah! It helped that she had ½ a Xanax on board. BUT she cooperated, was talkative and followed instructions. Who knew!

Looks like this weekend I’ll be stocking up for our needs for the week as we’re expecting a huge storm Tuesday into Wednesday – not a happy face! But have to be ready.

Tricia: hoping today is a better day!

Yup . . . . that’s what the forecast is so far. Who knows. We’ll see!

Nola: Stay safe in the storms! You’ll have to tell us about the fur baby if it works out!

Dorothy: Yup! Men would never tolerate what we go thru for the girls!

Hope the weather cooperates for your travels.

Karen: Glad that the sink hole isn’t affecting you.

No, the storm hasn’t reached us yet. That’s what’s predicted for Tuesday into Wednesday.

Here’s to staying on track!

HUGS ladies!

I'm OK the sink hole is on the coast by California Oregon boarder. Seen all those nice apartments and home getting washed away too. Think when they warned us years ago the 'oceans are rising' I'd have sold then

Nola hope the Cyclone doesn't hit Australia THINKING OF YOU

Barb WOW all the snow is in your yard emoticon emoticon

Dorothy LOL I hear you about yearly girl-checkups and guy checkups emoticon
happy junk sorting and tax time adding emoticon and emoticon

Tricia it is a RIDE emoticon Last night, I stopped and bought chicken and potato salad Well the deli girl thought 4 honey biscuits were need, so since they were free I ate them all in secrete (because the calories DON'T COUNT) and then continued to over eat during dinner

I'm starting over AGAIN so it's BACK ON TRACK WITH TRICIA emoticon emoticon emoticon

Karen - I too saw about the sink hole - hope all is safe where you are. And hope the sun comes back out as well. Aw - yes - I did forget about the breathing. O h my goodness - could not imagine a man going through it - they complain about the coughing -lol!

Nola - so glad you so enjoyed you big quiet Alex and now on to a small fur dog - hope you find the perfect match. Stay safe and dry. Cyclones sound scary.

Barb - I looked at our forecast and we have 90% chance of snow on Wednesday but have not heard much about it yet. Suppose to be in the 40's the next few days. I just want safe travels for next weekend as I am going to Buffalo!

Tricia - funny how that happens but way to go on stopping it in its tracks and turning it all around already. emoticon And 2 out of 3 of your goals is pretty darn good.

Its more cleaning and clearing out of junk for me today! Oh and doing our taxes.

We have had storms and heavy rain all day. There is a Cat 3 cyclone just about to cross at the north of our state and we are getting the flow on effect of awful storms and rain. I am glad I don't have to go anywhere. There is a bit of a lull at the moment so wanted to catch up here.

Tricia there is another day tomorrow. Keep looking forward to all the good things that you are going to do instead of getting frustrated about what you can't change. WTG on the water so important. emoticon

Barb fingers crossed for no major dumping around your area next week.I think we may have found a fur baby. We will know tomorrow. The time is right for us now. emoticon

Karen the other thing with Mammos is please have warm hands. Saw a big sink hole happen in your State. Is that near you? Looked a bit scary. emoticon

Dorothy hope you are resting for the weekend, ready to do battle next week. emoticon

Debbie, Eliza and Wendy Thinking of you.
Have a good weekend friends emoticon

I'm feeling frustrated tonight !!! I had a few really good days in a row, then today, I blew my streak of eating better by overeating. Sheesh! I guess it's two steps forward, one step back. I'm a little surprise by how discouraged I feel about it. You know, they say there is a connection between sleep and eating, and I went to bed too late last night, and had a hard time sleeping. Maybe that contributed. Hmmmm. . . I'll get to bed earlier tonight, and track my calories tomorrow. Back to work for me!

On the bright side, I do feel good about my water consumption and exercise the past couple of weeks. I've made a lot of improvement in those areas. My BIGGEST challenge is the FOOD, drat!

Wowza, Barb: A foot of snow? I'm jealous! (You can kick me if you can reach me! Ha!)

Karen: Need an umbrella? emoticon

Nola: So glad you enjoyed Alex! Good luck finding just the right puppy. Perhaps a St. Bernard? emoticon

Dorothy: As you can tell by my first paragraph, I didn't rub my stone hard enough today. Will have to do better tomorrow! Glad your mammo is BEHIND you! That's always a good feeling!

Hiya to Eliza, Debbie, and Wendy! Hope all are well!

Have a great weekend, ladies!

expect it to be a rousing success, but will give it a try.

Still talking about a big storm Tues. into Wed. next week. We’ll see what materializes. HOPE NOTHING materializes but would rather a few inches then to get dumped on.

I am sure ready for the weekend.

Dorothy: All I can say is can you imagine asking a MAN to do hose contortions?? NOT A CHANCE!

Nola: Agree . . . I think it was designed by a man.

Real Estate taxes here are in 2 installments, so have another one in July, but that’s all right.

Glad you had a good visit w/Alex.

How exciting to be thinking of adding a fur baby to the family! Wishing you luck. They are sooooo wonderful.

Karen: Yeah, right! BREATHE. YOU try it! LOL

Anticipating a storm that could drop as much as a foot of snow. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo!

Hope Robert and your Mom are feeling better!

Dorothy I'm glad the Mammo is out of the way. That squishing at such an awkward angle must have been designed by a man. emoticon I hope your body gets used to the Unithroid. It is awful having to put up with all the side effects until that happens.

Karen how is Robert is he OK? Did you enjoy Izzys? Sounds Yummy.I'll bet the shades helped....hmm!!!! what did you do for the yummy smells. emoticon

Barb I hope you have a peaceful Friday. Great the Real Estate tax is out of the way for 12 months. We have them as well, they rear their ugly head in March emoticon

Tricia emoticon in the 1 1/2 lb gone emoticon emoticon We will be like David. Small stones make big results. emoticon

Debbie keep up the good work with the exercising and eating well. emoticon

Had a great time with Alex. He is like a big quiet St Bernard round the place. We just love the fact that he still wants to visit . My computer is running smoothly and he helped Don with a lot of outside stuff.

We have decided it is time to get another little dog. We have finally gotten over missing our other little fellow that we had for 15 years, so we are looking. One will pop up soon. emoticon

Tricia - sounds to me that you and your sister are very similar - personality a mile wide. So glad you had a good visit with her and your parents. Love the idea of the armor, Rub rub rub - congrats on the 1.5 pound gone. emoticon

Karen - glad to hear that you are alive and well. Hope mom and DH are well too.

Barb - thanks for the encouragement. Some days are harder than others but I am sure once it kicks in I will be back to my old self.

Mammo went well - well as well as a mammo can - please tell me how you can turn body sideways, hold on to the bar, keep you shoulder down and back point your toes forward, and keep you chin lifted all while getting your boob squashed. I was ready for a nap when I left there - good thing it was lunch time - lol!

Thursday – the weekend is close! Ready for it.

Paid real estate taxes yesterday. Now THAT’S not fun for sure. But it’s done. PHEW Like having the blood sucked out of you by a vampire!

Supposed to have a major storm next week. That is not good news. BUT that’s next week. Have to just wait and see what happens.

Hope it’s a good Thursday!

Nola: See you tomorrow! Hugs right back @ you!

Dorothy: Yes, I had that same problem when switched. HATE IT, but have been stable on Unithroid now for 5 yrs. Hang in there.

Yup, DB knows when big sis means business! LOL

Glad bowling went well.

Good luck w/the mammo!

Tricia: Glad you had such a wonderful time w/your parents and your sis.

Yeah for 1.5 lbs. kicked to the curb!

Yes, I didn’t start with that much sanity, so hanging onto any little shred is a bonus! LOL

Karen: How are the patients doing??? HUGS and hope they’re improving.

Eliza, Nicole, Deb and all the rest of you beauties, have a wonderful Thursday.

I just read the blog of a fellow Spicy Sparkologist. She is Christian and said that recently, as she was reading about putting on the armor of God as preparation for battle, she had the thought that perhaps she would start wearing a belt to remind her of her own battle for health and weight loss! It reminded me of the little pebble that some of us are carrying/rubbing/eyeing! The stone I chose is smooth, and pretty - and I love that it's POLISHED. It reminds me that I want to knock off my rough edges and be my best. Reading my sparkfriends's blog, I was reminded of the story of David and Goliath, and the stones David carried to battle against the giant. That adds another dimension of meaning for my little polished stone. I'm going to be successful in my battle to overcome unhealthy habits and replace them with HEALTHY HABITS!

I had a nice visit with mom and dad Tuesday night. I went with my sister - she's an AMAZINGLY AWESOME woman, and I adore her! She has a personality a mile wide, and I love to spend time with her. We have a special bond, and she "gets me" in ways that not many people do.

I was fairly happy with yesterday's weigh in. I lost a pound and a half. I did well with sleep, exercise, and water, and had a few good days (and a few not so good days) with eating. I'll be trying to keep up the areas I did well, and improve the eating. It was nice to see a drop in the number on the scale, even though it was a small one! I'll keep rubbing my stone! BLC30 started a week ago, and this round I chose to be on the Spicy Sparkologists team. It's a relatively new team, and is a laid back group who can choose - or choose not - to participate in weekend challenges (for the most part). I also signed up to be a Black Panther in the "other" BLC spring challenge. Hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. The next couple of months should be a little easier for me to focus on losing than the summer months will be. We'll be home more, and have less company.

Dorothy: Hope all goes well with your mammo. It's about that time again for me, but I'm going to put it off a little while and hope that in a few months, there won't be as much to be squished! Ha! Good luck! emoticon I hope you get your thyroid meds all figured out, and start feeling better.

Nola: Have fun with your grandson! I hope when he leaves, your computer is running as smoothly as my rubbing stone feels! (That's really smooth!) emoticon

Barb: Hopefully your dad won't end up needing the procedure! Hooray for only slightly insane days! Wishing you two in a row! emoticon

Debbie: Nice report on your eating and exercise! Keep it up! emoticon

Karen: I hope your mom and DH are feeling better! I'm sure you're a fabulous nurse! Glass candy, LOL!!! Should I be worried that your rubbing "stones" will start disappearing? I'd probably be tempted to rub them with my tongue! emoticon emoticon

Barb - that makes me feel better that you did get use to it. It was making me nervous and I wanted to give it a chance but I hate feeling all sore and achy. But since it worked for you I will keep giving it a chance. Glad that they are taking it easy on ordering tests for your dad - they do not seem to jump back as quick from them as they once did. Cute about DB. emoticon

Debbie - glad to hear that all is well in your world. Did you get much snow??

Nola - enjoy that grandson of yours. Make sure to give him lots of emoticon

Bowling went ok last night - at least I made my average - but that is all that I did, And our lanes kept breaking down - it was very frustrating! Today I get my mammo - that should just about cover all of my yearlys.

Wednesday – after many phone calls and a discussion w/Dad’s Dr., we will see the GI Dr. on 8 February. IF the esophagoscopy is needed, that will be 16 February. The IF is what makes me happy, because the Dr. is cognizant of Dad’s age so says that we need to determine if the benefits outweigh the risks of having this procedure. HALLELUJAH. That is what we needed.

More snow yesterday, but just a little. Not bad.

Otherwise a mildly insane day as compared to an insane day! LOL I shampooed, cut and curled Mom’s hair. She liked it. PHEW.

Nola: BWAHAHAHHA!

Have a wonderful visit w/Alex!

Karen: Hope everyone is feeling better in your house!

Dorothy: DB may be 6 ft 3 and outweigh me by 200 lbs. (or close to it) but HE KNOWS WHEN I MEAN BUSINESS. LOL

OH boy, YES YES YES. I was switched from Synthroid to Unithroid.. Even though the active med is the same, the binders are different. Took me about a month to acclimate. **SIGH** Wishing you luck.

Activity does help!

Deb: Glad things are good.

Eliza, Nicole, Tricia, Wendy and all the rest of you beauties, take care!
