Wow! I was thinking of shopping for a nice split soled jazz shoe (feet have expanded :)) but the chinese flats are gorgeous, if I can get one big enough. Am shopping now for a skirt and top for our English Ball... these would be great if big enough. Let the shopping begin!

I seem to be able to make a fair amount of noise on the balance in my karate flats...

There's a guy around here who goes by the name of Cosmic Tim who specializes in finding the most resonant part of the floor and using it to his acoustic advantage. Bands really like it, apparently, having someone out there drumming on the floor back at them.

A couple of weeks ago I danced with him on a particularly responsive floor, and pretty soon everyone was doing it. Some of us wondered if we might end up shaking the building down. LOL

Never, ever, EVER give up!

I used to wear ballet slippers, but went to a jazz shoe, because it can at least make a little noise on a balance in contradance with its wimpy heel. I don't need arch support, or this wouldn't be an option.

Hugs -- Edith Started at 220, made goal 160 now I have to get there again :-)

Keep Dancing. Joy is the best exercise.

I've found that my arthritic knee can't handle any kind of heels, but it's happy in flats.

So I've been wearing the "Mary Jane" style karate flats with washable Pedag inserts.

There are so many fun kinds of these to choose from, including various colors of canvas, silk, emroidery, brocade, glittery mesh, etc. Here's an amazing assortment: www.natashascafe.com/html/shoes.html
