One option for avoiding the binging after work is to plan & prepare your dinners ahead of time. If you have a crock-pot meal waiting when you get home, or something that just needs to be reheated, it may make things easier on you. I'm the same way a lot of the time, it's far too easy to just go home and grab whatever's most readily available to eat, so I'm trying to make sure that the easiest things to grab are reasonably healthy!

I can relate to that exhaustion and mindless eating! I keep thinking I shouldn't be that tired when I sit for 90% of my days but it IS stressful and tiring...I just want to turn off my brain at the end of the day.

One thing I have discovered is when I have an actual meal plan and groceries on hand I am much more likely to stick to a plan than if I also have to think of/shop for food after work. As for the snacking, if I go right to work on dinner as soon as I get home I don't do much snacking. If I sit down first, it's all over!

For me the biggest work-related weight loss issue I have is stress. While I can pack my food for work and generally stay on track throughout the day (though I may have the odd treat here and there), when I get home, I'm so mentally and emotionally drained that my will power is shot. I end up eating myself into a food coma because I'm too tired to care/pay attention to what I'm eating. Heading to the gym is also hard to do after the high stress days though I know it will likely do me some good. Sigh... Any tips on how to handle it (aside from changing jobs)?

Kei, that's great that you're losing body fat! I don't really know how to measure that so no clue if I've lost fat or how much but I think I may have hit my plateau using diet changes alone. I need to sit down and get an actual plan. I like aerobics but my house is so tiny I can't do all the moves without running into furniture. LOL

I did actually do some exercises in the bathroom yesterday at work!

Hi Jamie and Jessica,

I work in a library which requires quite a bit of sitting and then long stents of standing. Can be hard on the legs and back. I do try and remember to get up and move around and I tell my coworkers not to make fun of me if they see me squat. I have lost 2% body fat but have not budged weight wise in about 2 weeks. I'm just trying to eat right and keep my energy levels up.

Thanks
Kei

Hi Keilara, I'm Jaime. My desk time is pretty flexible but I tend to have too much computer work to get a lot of time up and about. Jessica, I would go stir crazy if I weren't allowed to leave my desk! I think my favorite suggestion was squats and wall push-ups on bathroom breaks but I can't for the life of me remember to do it when I'm in there!

Hi,

Just joined the group and hope this group will help me stay active while at work. I currently sit at a desk for about 3/4ths of the day and then on my feet for 2 hours. I saw the great ideas about some work activities and look forward to see what else gets posted.

I can relate, haven't been on much this week myself! I love the weather right now and don't want to spend it on the couch!

I joined this group of 16000+ members feeling excited to have a place with a connection. Yet, there seems to be nobody here?
