I too work in an office where cakes and lollies crop up almost daily.
I make sure I have a low GI breakfast, plenty of water, a low GI snack mid morning, and as I'm trying to be healthier I just try to look at their junk as just that - piles of preservative, corn syrup and food colouring. It is often not all that tempting anyway, and if you have just eaten ample healthy food it is much easier to resist the unhealthy stuff.
If it's a really special occasion or a really yummy cake, I just ask someone to go halves, or cut myself a small piece, then try to do a bit of extra walking that day.
