I agree with you Kylie, a piece of birthday cake is not going to derail you. You're birthday is once a year. The problem that happens with me is eating it whenever it's available (often in my life). Life's too short not to enjoy it--we just need to make sure too much of our enjoyment isn't based on unhealthy food. emoticon

oh I love the Neelys I wonder if your daughter meant Sandra somebody on almost homemade hehehe , Anywho Itried a recipe I made up tonight , I made sweet potato fries with some salt pepper barbaque spice and hot pepper flakes , YUm ! Finally something that came out great ! lol.

lol..that reminds me of something my daughter says. It all came about by watching this skinny female chef (cant remember her name) on tv. My daughter chimed "Never trust a skinny cook. They don't eat thei own food. Now the Neely's they eat what they cook. ANd it looks good!" lol She is a nut :)

Oh I just have to add my mom cooked and baked unbelivable feasts and weighed about 110 pounds , My Dad not only was an award winning kinda famous chef in New England but he only weighed 150 pounds ,Both parents skinny minnies ! lol but food at our house was super healthy until a celebration then all stops came out ! I didnt get fat until I met my mother in law ( loved that lady too bad I didnt marry her ) who was a fantastic Big German lady who cooked fantastic food EVERYDAY ! I was in hog heaven and it showed ! lol

Hey Mona , I have a strong opinion about rewarding ourselves with food ! My WW leader and I would butt heads over this ! lol, I 100 percent believe in rewarding yourself with food !
In the old days when I over ate horribly , I would never reward myself with food , Candies , Cakes Cookies , Lasagna , that was never reward ! It was a day to day staple ! lol I think getting in to the mind sets that luscious foods that we love are not supposed to be an everyday occurrence but a treat , a reward a celebration ! I remember working out like crazy so I could go to my favorite restaurant to have my special margarita cheese cake hehehee.
Maybe this has to do with my dad being a chef , my mom a fantastic gourmet cook , my son also a chef ! I grew up with the love of wonderful meals ! We just have to realize that we cant have those celebrations or rewards everyday ! lol Come on girl its your birthday ! CELEBRATE ! We dont want to make a healthy life style something that isnt fun ! Lets face it too its not the special fancy meals we make for special occasions that made us gain weight its the day to day eating , others might disagree but I personally do use food as a reward for losing weight or exercising

Well, its not the morning, but I wanted someone's opinion. I know we are not suppose to reward ourselves with food. But my bday is the end of this month. I have a spiral ham I need to cook. I was going to do a honey and brown sugar glaze with pineapple and some homemade bread. I was going to feast over that weekend lol. Figured it wouldn't hurt me very well as that morning will be Feb 1st (my weigh in day) and since I wont be weighing again until March 1st I will be ok. Would love to know what you all think? Bad idea?

Good to hear Trim ! I didnt know what Team David was so checked it out ! Inspiring for sure ! So many wonderful people in real life can inspire us, I got inspired by a man I dont even know who lives down the street from me , Hes an elderly man and he has an elderly dog , He had two walking sticks and a big leather holster around his waist with the dog lead attached and the dog could hardly walk too but they were out there doing it ! That made me feel really pathetic for whining I am too tired and too OLD to exercise ! lol.
I am like you , I lose then gain , I know for sure though that it boils down to consistency ,Something even in good times I have never had, I am enjoying backing it up and doing it right this time. All the habits everyone is working on is a part of the steps that will lead us to our goal weight ! I am 100 percent certain of that ! Nice to hear from you !!! Keep up the good work ! Think of you often !

This morning I was thinking I didn't "feel" like walking and didn't "have time" and thought "If I really book it, I can get a mile in within 15 minutes. And I did. emoticon Let's do this ladies!!

Today it is storming outside but warm and toasty inside , Glad I have the day off , I took a page from Melissa * thanks Trim * and updated my new and higher weight , also organized my calender with my streaks on it and weigh in days , I think I will weigh 2 times a week , just to get an idea if what I am doing is working or not . I plan on spending the day cleaning my house , Flylady , house blessing and crisis cleaning ! lol
I am going to also organize my clothes and try to do anything to make the work go easier ! I will do a lot of exercise today to hopefully meet my calorie burn faster this week ad I know somedays I will be tired ! Anything else I can do to make this week go easier then last !
also going to try a couple of new things for the bonus challenge !
Mona your doing fantastic , Trim I read your status your doing so great too ! Kathy we are with you in spirit , Hey do you think your truck cab is getting a bit crowed with all of us in it ! lol .

Good morning good morning good morning :D I hope everyine has a beautiful monday morning. It is 61° here right now, but be tonight it is suppose to drop to 17°...YIKES!!! I hate hae hate cold weather. I feel bad for you Kylie :( all the freezing cold and snow and you hurt your knee. Poor thing. Just remember to keep moving or you might freeze in place.

Today was a trying day ! It was so blasted cold it made my bones ache just to go outside ! -11 degrees F . On top of that I hurt my Knee and was on my feet for 10 hours straight ! I managed to get 10 mins of exercise in but didnt track my calories .I fell asleep the moment I got home ! Mona I do the fly lady for a minimum of 21 mins per day ! So now at 11:52 I will clean my house luckily it isnt too bad as nobody was home all day ! lol. I did drink my water and before i go to bed I will lay out my clothes for tommorow and do my launch pad ! Anyone who wants to know who the fly lady is check out her site at www.flylady.net
Was I perfect today , no , Did I over eat today , not sure .. Did I exercise as much as I wanted .. no but I did some . Was I better then the old me ? Damn straight I was ! The old me would have just slept throught the night . felt sorry for myself , not try at all to do even a small amount of exercise , wake in the morning to find something to weardirty dishes in the sink and cry because I couldnt find my work or car keys ! I hope you have a great time tomorrow night Mona and enjoy yourself ! You deserve a fun evening with friends ! Whatever happens just pick up on Sunday and start where you are ! You have each and everyone of our support ! ,

Lol...Kathy! You are an early bird :) I am not too far behind you. You made a very good point. We are only competing with ourselves. We are here to encourage etch other.
Kylie, I absolutely love the aspect of gaining good habits, not just losing weight. So many times I have started the New Year's off making resolutions to change myself for the better. Only to fail, because I neglected to take the baby steps necessary to get there. AND did not have the support there to help when I was down. The 3 steaks a month should help us all obtain our goals...
I have a busy day tomorrow, so I may not be on here. If not I will see you all on Sunday :) Have a beautiful weekend!

Thats right Kathy We are only competing with ourselves , if we can do better then we have been doing thats a plus ! I remember once dieting with my ex sister in law and she had a lot more weight to lose then I , At first she was dropping weight like crazy and of course cause I had less to lose then her it was coming off much slower , so that was fine with her . but then it came to the point I got really slim and she stopped dieting , She was like to heck with this lets eat ! and of course I did and gained it all back and then some !
I think if someone loses we should be happy for them as we are on a team and if we gain or dont lose know we can support each other without having another team member feeling guilty they are doing well or feeling bad we are asking for support because everyone will need it one day or another !
To be truthful I am more concerned about gaining good habits so I will lose weight then worrying about the scale ! I seriously feel that by doing these streaks we will lose weight eventually in a healthy , and happy state and not get depressed ! Thats key for me !
I cant look at the scale and cry anymore !!!!! lol

To change your weight goal:
Click on “Start” in the top left corner of the screen.
You’ll now see your Start page.
At the top of your Start page, you'll see "Step 1, Track Your Progress."
In that section, you'll see "Track Weight & Other Measurements" with a button just below it for "Edit Goals."
Click on "Edit Goals."
Scroll down the page to see the "Set Your Weight Goal" section.
In the "Target Weight" text box, enter your new weight goal.
If necessary, you can also change your weight goal date by selecting a new date in the "By When" drop-down menus.
Click "Save Your Changes" at the bottom of the page.
Note: If you do not have a weight goal listed or see the "my Goals & Progress" section on the left side of your start page, you have signed up for the Spark5 program, which is for weight maintenance only. With the Spark5 program, you are not able to create or edit a weight goal.

Good Morning All! I have a quick question.. I am having a bit of difficulty finding everything since the site was changed around. Use to when you tracked your weight, it had an area where you would put in the amount of weight you wanted to lose and by what date. Does anyone know where it went? Is it still an option?
I weighed myself this morning. I wasn't happy with it, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am 2 lbs lighter than I started 2013, but I have put 8 lbs on since July :(

I thought of a challenge that might be fun ! If anyone is interested , You know we get 500 goodie points to spend each month on the team members , With all the hectic holiday stress I thought it might be fun if we could just do for the month of Dec a small challenge about keeping up our spark streaks! Something I have been bad at . Like choose five you want to stick with through the holidays perhaps like eating 5 fruits and veggies or drinking water .. Then post for the month how many times you accomplished your five goals. End of the Month we get a reward Goodie for accomplishing that . or winner gets the whole 500 points i dont know just an idea if anyone feels like coming up with something fun to do so we wont gt too depressed if we arent perfect lol

I am not going to even try to behave on the holidays ! lol. but I am trying to do my best ,I am going to keep at as many as Spark sTreaks as I can and log on everyday . I have had it up to my eyeballs with beating myself up , I will do my best during this time with the eating .and keep on track with my other goals for sure ! Well, this week went okay. I eat pretty well, with the exception of 1 slice of pumpkin cheesecake a day or 3 days :) hard to resist when you can only get it certain times of the year lol. I didn't exercise any as I had cut calories and was a little drained getting back in the swing of eating less, but healthier. I didn't track my food every day like I should have. I know that I must really commit to make I work. It just seems a little harder with upcoming holidays.

Nice to hear from you Mona ! Don't give up at all , I seriously think the added pressure we put on ourselves is so detrimental to weight loss ! I dont have any real plan but what worked for me before was drinking the water , tracking the food , 20 mins of exercise a day and making sure I make my calorie burn when I exercise ! even if i over ate i lost weight then !

I cant believe how long it has been since I posted...I feel terrible :( I have really slacked off and fallen short. It is almost the end of the year and I am almost at the same point I was at the beginning of the year. I am so disappointed in myself. I have stopped and started so many times this year. Tried several different things instead of just sticking with what worked for me. Light bulb moment...it wont work if you are not following it...I went to the grocery store today. Got some of the things I was eating at the beginning of the year. I have my crockpot going with my lunches for the week. We have a month and a half left in this year and I am determined not to be where I started from.
I am sorry I haven't been here faithfully, but I o want you to know you are an inspiration!

Hey Mona sounds like your setting up a great plan ! I think the key is not to think about the 4 pounds just start where you are ! I am worried because I have no days off this week , and lots of chances to eat junk ! I will stick to the HOLY 4 lol. Exercising at least ten mins per day , Logging in my food . Drinking my water and eating 5 fruits and veggies ! I know I can at least do those things ! hahha Talk about getting Ripped , I have been doing exercises for my arms and asked my son the other day how they looked when I made a muscle and he said " Your forearms are getting muscular..." FOREARMS !!!!!!! emoticon I want biceps !!!!! emoticon

Good morning!!!! Boy am I exhausted..... My husbamd and I started our first day on Focus T25 yesterday. The cardio video was no joke. It seems like I cooked all day trying to prepare meals and only got a day and a half of them completed. I hope we are able to stick with it and get the reults we want. I am not looking to get "ripped" lol, just losea little weight and tone up. I am still four lbs heavier than I was before vacation.
Btw Kylie I love your analogies :) you need to be a motivational speaker!

I am really just trying to do my best , sometimes my best isnt perfect ! lol but I feel better and still being successful , I know better then to expect great strides when its a busy and hectic week but I feel its no excuse for me to completely blow my program ! If we picture weight loss as a path .. well the path has some days that are up hill and some muddy bogs where we get stuck and other times its all down hill and thats great ! Keep walking anyways !

Good morning all!!!! So sorry I habe been mia.Just got back last saturday from a week long cruise. I had done so well before we left. I had lost down to my lowest SP weight. While we were gone we took the stair instead of elevator and did a lot of walking...but I still managed to put that weight back on plus a few more pounds. Hav ebeen kinda depressed about it since I gor back. On the bright side my hubby and I ordered T25. We are going to start doing it together. We will see how well that works..hahaha
So great to see everyone posting. Trimlaw, Kylie is right, try baby steps. Kylie, you are such an insperation!

I think you should go right back to baby steps , its not going to hurt to try right ?I had stumbling blocks , I lost my motivation , i was gaining back weight and feeling like a failure and I decided to just wipe the slate clean , stop thinking about when I went to Weight Watchers and their program , Forget the pounds I lost so far , Forget the pounds I gained so far ! lol and JUST CLEAN HOUSE ! I dont measure , I sometimes over eat my calorie range , but what I have done is make sure I exercise at least ten mins per day , drink my water , pretty much track my food everyday heheee and eat my fruits and veggies an most of all I will not feel depressed , Make small goals for yourself even if they dont sound helpful or big enough. make sure they are something you for sure can do ! this is only to get a few successes under your belt ! It works I lost the 4 pounds I gained plus 2 more ! Now last night the cat caught a baby mouse and then the dog got it I tried to save it but it died and I was extemely upset ! I blew off exercise and of course over ate for comfort but today I am back on track with my tiny * useless* baby steps that helped me lose 6 pounds since Sept 6th ! We have to be kinder to ourselves ! IF we gain two pounds they are the heaviest two pounds in the world but if we lose two then we say oh jeez that was nothing ! Time to get kind :) Trim I have faith in you I know you will do this !

OK, I did it. I gained those two pounds that put me at my highest weight recorded here (and that's ever anyway). So frustrated and disgusted. I had a good day, though, yesterday, and will do the same today. I've started using the LIFT app on my phone. Anyone else use it? One of my new habits is to be grateful for someone or something. Your comment reminded me of it, KylieCat. Have a fabulous day!

Hey Gals ! Mona you did fantastic ! Thats a great walk . Being busy can throw a curve in your plans but if you keep your goals really small then you will always succeed ! Trimlaw great to see you posting and its great you are under 2 pounds then your heaviest , Say goodbye to that cause you arent going back ! lol. I think we need to redefine what is success, Sure here is a guideline about how much we are supposed to exercise and how much we are supposed to eat but ...the real goal is to do better then we did we did the wee before ! IF we keep going in that direction sooner or later we will hit pay dirt !
If you feel you cant exercise at all , Then how about raising your legs or arms while watching tv , like for a minute ? or doiing calf raises while waiting for the micowave, if you feel its going to be a hard week for keeping on track with the dieting , how about at least drinking your water or eating your fruits and veggies or making a healthy food swap for a lesser calorie option ? I think our problem is more psychological then anything and what we need is a few successes under our belt ! Lets pick things WE KNOW WE CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS WEEK , To heck with other peoples recommendations ! It will build up after a while , Many times I have heard the term "your at the starting gate" well if you think about it athletes train BEFORE they get to the starting gate ! Lets think of this as a pre-diet training ! !!!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Well, yesterday went better than the day before. That's progress, right? I'm only about 2 lbs from my heaviest weight ever. Terrified to go back there. I like the baby step idea. Today will not be a good day for exercise. I have to leave for work at 6:30 am and have a 2 hr. drive. I'm sure I'll be exhausted when I get home. I did get in a good pilates workout yesterday and kept within limits on food. Have a great day everyone.

Hi!!!! Hope all is well...crazy, crazy busy here. Hoping it will sow down in a couple weeks and then I can start posting regularly again. I am not doing well with my eating. But I have been walking. Thurs and fri I walked 3.63 miles both days! Quite the accomplishment for me :) Kylie, my daughter is fair skinned. She doesn't like getting a tan. Don't know why, when she was a little girl she practically lived outside and had a beautiful tan. My husband has lovely olive toned skin. tans within minutes...lol :)

Thanks for the post Trimlaw ! I am trying baby steps and starting fresh ! Tiny steps are better then big steps up a shaky ladder ! Good luck to you and hope to see you back here more often ! My baby steps have been to choose one tiny step each week each for fitness and eating , making sure its something you are 100 percent sure you can do , dont worry if it seems too little its a work of progress ! For example my first steps were to track each day and to exercise my recommended minutes for the week , Good luck :)

oh Tanning I never d id that even though they have a tanning salon next door ! Do you usethe tanning excelerator cream? MY hair drsser said dont use it if you dont want to look too dark ! Seeing my bf is Greek and has a tan 24 seven ! He thinks whiter skin is sexy yet I feel like whale blubber ! lol I was hoping more for a pink glow more then a tan is that do able ! ? I get really mad at my boyfriend because he is tan has curly hair and lashes afoot long ! He should be a girl ! but then he is very hairy I guess i have ONE THING Better then him ! lol

Lol...I dont even want to know mine. Not long now until cruise time. Still havent lost any of the weight I wanted to lose. So, I have been tanning, because fat looks better tan :/

my son made zucchini cake chocolate with cream cheese frosting !!! but i added it in and still was 18 calories under my range looooooool yum it was so good ! Kill it tomorrow ! :)

Well, Kylie, that soumds like an awesome plan. I did really bad today as there were cupcakes left in the fridge from my sons bday party. But tomorrow will be better...there are no chocolate cupcakes left :D

we might have to put off our trip until spring because of too much going on at one time in the fall but hey it will give me more time to get ready ! lol. your right fad diets dont work ! I am just refreshing my mind and taking baby steps to get on track and not get too ahead of my self ! Beating ourselves up just adds to depression and low self esteem which then leads to lack of exercise and over eating ! I know I keep making a simple plan then adding a bit more to it then it becomes super complicated and undo-able ! My biggest issue is to take one day at a time , and not be over speculative about what the results will be :) my goal this week is to burn my recommended calories and keep tracking my food regardless if its a good or bad day !

I gained a pound too. But thats okay. At least it was only one :) I did figure out that the DASH diet us not for me. The best thing I ever did is when, at the first of the year, I cut out all rhings unhealthy. I stopped with high sodium, no soft drinks, no fast food, nothing processed, no bread. I cooked a lot of fresh foods. I did eat tortillas, but only one a day if that. And I stayed witgin, usually under, 1200 calories. I have started it again. I didnt stick with it yesterday, because of my son's bday party. But thats ok too. I am not going to beat myself up for it...just going to start back over today. The only thing that bothers me right now is we have a cruise booked just around the corner, I was hoping to have reached me goal by then. I am hoping to be within 5-7 lbs of it.

I gained a pound ! but I am glad thats all i gained !!!!!! I have decided I am over thinking and mish mashing diets , trying to combine weight watchers with south beach and spark lol , I bought spark coach and decided to thThink like I have never dieted at all ! just start from scratch ! Last week my goal was to do the recommended exercise minutes if nothing else ! This week is to do the minutes and also get the calories burned ! Last week I fell short of about 200 calories burned , Good luck Mona ! Sometimes think we need to be easier on ourselves and just pick one goal to start with ! The negative voices in my head arent really helping me , I had a success this week even though I had gained ! Keeping my head straight is one of my main probblems!

This is the beginning of day 3. I am doing well, but still want to eat everything in sight. I am keeping plenty of sugar free jello around, because they are only 10cals. I am not a big fan of artificial sweeteners, I try not to use them at all. But for now it i helping to keep my over eating under control. I usually dont eat more than 2 a day.

Lol....I have a mild case of allergies. But one thing is for sure I hate he snow. I am an island girl at heart. I dont like to wear shoes or coats. So you keep the snow.
I have gone back to tracking everything I eat also. I pulled up my nutrition logs from the beginning of the year when I was doing so well. I am trying to stick to what i was eating then. All I can think about right now is FOOD! Terrible, isnt it? Vacation is very soon and I would at least like to lose 8 lbs.

I bought the year subscription to spark coach , Hope it helps , Going to start over pretending that I never dieted before ! lol. Not bad for the year , Thats right we are not going to give up ! Yay Buddy System ! The strongest and probably the littlest team on Spark ! lol
