That IS weird! Once in a while I have had things "disappear" from my page or teams and then, later, it is back....Um.... emoticon

Hi Pat! Hi everyone!

Well, we had storms last night and tornado warnings through this morning. I need to go and buy cat food so I am going to wait until later hoping the storms are less severe.

I wish everyone a wonderful day and enjoy your day, Pat! emoticon

Ants bites can be pretty miserable. I hope you're not allergic to them.

Where I live now, the washing machines are a little bit smaller where I lived before but cheaper. I rather have a bigger machine and don't mind paying a little bit more. emoticon

I got a new washing machine. It is bigger than the one that died so it holds more clothes which is great. I love our dishwasher too because I just rinse the dishes off, put them in the dishwasher and they are out of sight. Only have to use it every other day. While I was outsided yesterday I got some ants on me now I feel itchy all over. Ugh!

Hi Pat! I have taken a break from the computer the last 2-3 days....sorry. I felt I needed since I spend so much time here lately.

Now, I am confused - did you get a dishwasher or a washing machine. You listed both below. emoticon Either both or just one - congratulations! I personally LOVE dishwashers since I hate doing the dishes. emoticon

I am losing some of my people again. Vacations, too busy. Not sure why. Hope all are doing well especially miss Lady and Blue Kitty. Hope Lady got a job she likes and her new place is going well for her. Blue started a new team so maybe that is keeping her busy. I do think part of losing is keeping connected. Sharing our journey together. Have a great day everyone! Hope to see you all on soon!

Chelsea, I only looked at washing machines(boring) then my DH dropped some books off at the library while I stayed in te car. He dropped me off in from of the food store and we picked up some fruit and veggies. I have been having much less meat and more salads in the warmer weather. We did not find a washing machine so my hubby is going out again to look for them. He knows what I want and it is too hot for me to go out. Going to be a long summer!!

Pat, you have a full day planned! I hope you find the washing machine that you like affordably. I have noticed, like you, that the older I get, the more extremes in weather affect me. For you, winter was long and miserable and now you have the opposite. And, like you, that's why I don't do much outside between 11 AM and 5 PM. I do most of my errands and appointments before 11 AM whenever I can since I take buses and it is miserable.

I hope it is cooler for you to be able to do your flowers. I know that Shari (from the Book club team) enjoys flowers too and has posted photos of them on her Spark page. I took some photos of flowers on my walks this week and hope to share them later on a blog. If you can, when your garden is finished, take photos and share. I LOVE sharing photos. emoticon

Enjoy your day everyone! I am going to the library to get more books emoticon Reading a lot helps me not to spend so much time on the computer.

Chelsea, how do you ever keep the blots etc from mixing up with each other!! I am reading Prayers of a Stranger by Davis Bunn. Really enjoying it! Today, we are going washing machine shopping! Anyone want to come!! Going to leave shortly as it is suppose to be really warm and really warm is not good for my breathing problems. Thankfully, it is going to be cooler over the weekend . Want to get some flowers and plant them. Too hot right now. Have a super day everyone. Keep cool, hydrated and get some fun exercise in if you can. Hugs. Pat

Hi Pat! Hi everyone!

Well, I am reading 5 books at the same time (keeps me entertained) emoticon :

1. The Wicked Wager by Anya Wylde (Kindle only book). Really fun story, light, funny, history cozy mystery.

2. Full Moon Over Madeline Island by Jay Gilbertson. This is the third in this series and I love the stories! They are very healing stories with great characters set in Madeline Island, WI.

3. The Last Lie (Alan Gregory, #18) by Stephen White. His books are great and there are 19 books in this series. These are not cozy mysteries and the stories will keep you on the edge of your seat!

4. Incidents in The Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Ann Jacobs. Harriet is a slave who wrote this book in 1861 to tell her horrible story and asking for help to end slavery. It is free for Kindle.

5. The Distant Hours by Kate Gordon. I think this book was recommended by Shari and I got it since it sounded so great. The story so far is wonderful and I think it will be a great mystery.

What about you, Pat? What are you reading now? Thanks for asking! emoticon

Hi everyone! Still catching up! I know that you, Ada, have your interview tomorrow. Please keep us posted since we have been in this journey with you and are wishing you well. Keep my fingers crossed for you AND prayers. emoticon

Yes, Patricia, the heat is here for you too. In SE Florida, it has been hot since mid April and it will last until mid to late October. Yuk! I still live here because from November to April, it is almost paradise. emoticon So right now, I only do one errand a day on the buses since the heat just drains me. I am reading a lot again and love it. emoticon And like you, Patricia, I love my Kindle (most of the time) and have extra books to read.

My cats, Lucy and Baby, send their love to you all. Have an enjoyable evening. Love, Chelsea

Isn't it amazing the things we do for our cats! Kindle lights! I know they have a program you can put on your computer with mice that go all over the screen and fish that swim in bright colors. Our cats love that one. I am on the way to see our son in Alabama . It was a long trip driving today and we are just a bit over half way there. I am really beat tonight. Our youngest daughter and her family are taking care of the kitties! Have a great night everyone!

I bought an app for my kindle fir called ziggy (or something like that) that has a mouse on it and it runs around the screen and eeks and squeals - I got it for Trouble - since she has gone deaf I've been trying to find toys that interact on another level - either vibrates or flashes lights. They both love the app - I could leave it on for hours and they would be happy. Alcoa loves it the best and as soon as she sees the kindle comes out she is there going mousey toy?

It's been raining everyday here which hasn't been fun. Right now I'm getting ready for the community wide yard sale my apartment complex is going to have on the first - fingers crossed. I also had a cousin email me about a temp job she has that she is offering me - it's two weeks in the middle of July, however, it's in South Carolina - she is offering housing/food but, with gas and I'm sure it's minimum wage, not sure how worth it will be....told her I would let her know by Monday

Hi everyone! I am back from my long weekend out of town outside of Orlando (Ovideo) and it was very productive and healing. I went to a retreat and it was great. Sometime this weekend I will post some pictures, etc. So, I am back, Patricia! Sorry to hear about the allergy problem but that's a LOT of pollen! Here in Florida, since it didn't get as cold as where you live, the Spring blooming was just part of the rest of the blooming. Sometimes we do get blooming in the winter too depending on how cold it gets.

My Lucy LOVES lights, any lights. At night, if a car drives by and its light are anywhere in the apartment, she will chase them. She is really darling but I have to be careful with her because she will chase the lights without looking where she is going! emoticon Patricia, maybe we can have a "light" party and invite all our cats. emoticon

Our cats go crazy when we put a flashlight beam across the wall. Max, the male cat can really jump high to try and get the beam. It is really hot and humid here today. Had to put the air conditioning on which I was hoping we would not have to do until June. My asthma has really been bad because of it. The cats of course are laying over the vents!! Stinkers!

Was working on the computer when I glanced up to see Alcoa intently sitting on the couch looking at a sun beam on the wall, doing a but wiggle and getting ready to go for it - despite the fact that picture frames where there - luckily she knows the tone of voice that says it's a really bad idea so when I called her name she just got down and found a sunbeam on the floor and is laying in it all innocent like.

Sorry, I was at my mom's house this past weekend and didn't use the computer. It rained the entire time I was there, driving back I saw a lot of flooding, gave me flashbacks to 2010 flood in Nashville and a lot of sympathy to those folks.

I'm still unpacking, will be participating in the apartment wide yard sale so hopefully that will help me raise some funds. I have to go back to moms the beginning of next week - she is having a colonoscopy done so I'm driving (yeah).

Chelsea, are you going to visit Mickey Mouse when you go to Orlando? Tell him hi for me!! Glad both you and Ada are getting your apartments settled. It is a beautiful day here sunny, breezy and not too warm. Allergies are bad though. Will be so glad when things clear up. Our cars are yellow with pollen instead of black. Boy are the birds really eating a lot seed. We are filling the feeders twice a day. Guess all the nest making and baby making is wearing them out!!! I love when the finches get together in this one tree and chatter away. They sound like they are sharing their life. So funny.Hope all had a super day and a great one tomorrow. Hugs to all. Pat

Thanks Patricia! Yes, I am slowly accomplishing things in this apartment. I will be going to Orlando for a long weekend starting this Friday so it will slow things down but I think, once I come back, I will be ready to do some more. emoticon And Pat, your granddaughter wanting to go to the beach? A GREAT sign!! Looking for fun stuff to do is a great sign of feeling better and looking into the future. emoticon Please let her know that she has a lot of people who care for her here online and are praying for her. emoticon

Ada, you and I are in the process of unpacking during allergy season so I understand the allergy problem. For me is all the dust in the apartment and the blooming plants outside. I am using plenty of Benadryl. emoticon emoticon

I really feel for your grand-daughter right now! How depressing to be going through all of that at a young age. Hopefully her age will help her get better faster!

Allergies have been kicking my butt this week - I'm not sure but I think I've gotten rid of enough snot to create another person (ugh, I know). Luckily I found some by one, get one free coupons for tissues - going through a box and a half a day right now. I may just have to break down and go to a clinic and pay out of pocket so I can stop feeling so dang miserable.

Got rid of 4 boxes the other day - my mom sent them to me a few months ago for my storage unit thinking they were mine - guess what? They weren't so sent them back. Slowly but surely getting things put up - which will help with the allergies as well I know. Heading to the employment office today and then maybe to my mother's either tomorrow or Friday. I want to ask my sister to come to my place to clean out my litter box - it really needs done daily but...she tends to think of cats as a waste of time (even though she has two). I know, she had 4 kids, 2 older and 2 under 4 but...what she doesn't seem to get is that these are my children I'm asking her to care for. I'm not even asking her to give Trouble her medication, just check on food, water and litter. Oh well.

emoticon Chelsea, A great feeling of accomplishment I am sure. We took our granddaughter to the orthopedic doctor today. She is very slowly healing and will be starting physical therapy in a few weeks. She has really missed so much not being able to work or drive her car . She asked about going to the beach this summer and they are not wanting her to walk in the sand and has to wear a special sock whenever she goes out because the skin has been so damaged. Boy live can be so tough sometimes especially when you are 17 years old.

That's beautiful sharing, Patricia. Yes, whenever I have had my surgeries, in the midst of physical pain, I do feel close to God when I reach out to Him. It feels good to me to know that I am not alone even though I feel it because of the pain.

And, that's a lot of back and neck surgeries! Those are painful too. I am so happy your relationship with Christine is so wonderful. Twenty years from now, when she looks back, she will see all the little miracles in her life and inner healing too.

I wish you all a wonderful day! Love, Chelsea

Is a lovely day here, sunny, breezy and in the mid 60's. Hope all are having a bless Sunday full of God's peace and joy. Seeing Christine later today. Going to sit out on the deck and enjoy this beautiful day. We love to listen to music and sing along. We both love to dance too which of course Chris cannot do right now but she does get her arms and good leg moving. We laugh together which is healing for both of us. Chelsea, that is a lot of surgeries on your poor knees. Hopefully you will not need anymore. I have had multiple surgery on my back and neck and each time felt even closer to the Lord because I had to turn to Him to ease the pain. I do not like to take pain medications as they can become so addictive so easily. Hope all have a super day!! Hugs. Pat emoticon

To give you some hope when it comes to bone problems and youth:

I have had 11 knee surgeries, between the two legs, and had them done from ages 22 to 45. I did okay and even at 50, I am okay. Youth is on her side but if it was me, I would also feel heartbroken for someone I love. emoticon

Spend fun times with her - reading fun books together; sharing a movie together; baking special cookies - just fun together. When this is all over, she won't remember the pain so much but the great times she had with her grandmother. emoticon

I am not feeling well today. Had pizza yesterday and did fine with it but this morning I woke up with an upset tummy and potty troubles. Not a happy camper. I had some yogurt which I am hoping will settle things down.I think part of this is stress over my granddaughter too. She has so much ahead of her with this leg and ankle. Even two weeks later it is painful and looks really bad. Chris is really missing not being able to drive and get around on her own. Will be a minimum of another six weeks before she can even think of that. A definite lesson in patience.

How is your granddaughter doing today Pat? I got the rest of my stuff from my storage unit - means I'm not putting 100.00 out a month anymore which is good. Of course, I'm finding stuff that isn't mine but makes me feel better because I couldn't figure out how I got all this stuff. I'm signing up for the apartment wide yard sale to earn money and get rid of stuff so hopefully that will go well. I've been super tired since yesterday - yesterday my pain level was really ramping up despite my medication and I ended up taking a soak in a hot tub to see if that would help, this morning I woke up feeling bad and just crawled back into bed and pretty much haven't done anything today. I am hoping that this is just a thing and will resolve itself soon.

I pray for you and your granddaughter and keep you in my heart. You are very kind, have gotten to know you here, and I am sorry about your pain. What is on your granddaughter side is that she is young and young people heal a lot faster than you and I. I am sure her family is supportive at home too and her friends. emoticon

My male cat, Baby, is driving me crazy. He is very territorial and somewhat aggressive when bored and living in a smaller place is hard sometimes. I am hoping that by August, I have the money to set up the porch for him. I ran out of money before I could do it right after I moved. For those of you who have owned male and female cats, have your male cats been more territorial and ornery than the females? Just curious.

Yes, you are right. If they continue to be really bad, your doctor would know what you could take safely to give you relief. I hope today is better for you.

By the way, how is your granddaughter? I hope she is feeling better and healing from the accident. Please keep us posted. God bless you. Love, Chelsea emoticon

Patricia, I am sure it is the allergies. Your body is fighting the reaction to all the pollen around you. Usually the highest counts are early in the morning so you may want to do your errands after 9 AM. Also, Claritin works for my friend and Zyrtec works for me and those are the medicines that last all day long. I hope you feel better tomorrow. Take care. Love, Chelsea emoticon

I never thought of a bird feeder stand.....Interesting! I still haven't set up the porch for the cats since I ran out of money before I could get the pet door and carrier for the porch. I hope to do so in the next couple of months. Then I can see if I can have a bird feeder that won't drive my cat crazy. If not, like Ada, I will just enjoy watching them from my window and when I go for walks.

I am glad you are enjoying the weather, Pat, since I know that your winter was long and hard. emoticon

Good Day Ladies!!! Sun finally came out this afternoon. Was overcast and damp this morning. Volunteered at our Churches Outreach program this morning then had lunch with a fun friend so it has been a good day. Sorry you guys have had so much rain with some flooding . W are suppose to get some Tues. night into Wed. morn. We need it though so I don't mind. The trees and azaela's are so beautiful right now. Love this time of year except for the darn pollen which is bad this month. Have you thought of getting a bird feeder stand. I had that at our condo and it worked great. Hope everyone is having a great day and planning on a super week. Still praying for a job for you Ada!!

Tuesday through Thursday it rained in SE Florida straight plus we had local flooding, some hail and tornado warnings. Spring is here! I have a small creek behind my apartment but it looked okay and didn't reach the parking lot. Since then, it has been very hot. I am sure, Ada, that you also have a beautiful view from your place like I do mine, and Patricia. I love nature. emoticon

I'm on the 3rd floor and limited on what I can do so I'm just going to be content watching the birds. It's rained non-stop since Friday here and the river in the back is up quite a bit but it's finally stopped raining and I'm hoping it stays stopped for a while.

Patricia! I never thought of the cat fur being wanted by the birds for their nests! How wonderful! I am going to do the same. What a GREAT idea. emoticon

Living on the 4th floor with limited porch space (and no way to hang a bird feeder), I don't have a way to attract more birds to my porch right now. Across the way, there are some trees and I was thinking of putting a bird feeder there but I am afraid it might be stolen so I haven't decided what to do yet.

Enjoy your wonderful yard after a long winter, Patricia. By the way, how is your granddaughter doing? Love, Chelsea emoticon

Chelsea , so glad Lucy was friendly with your friend. Sounds like she does like "her" new home. Hopefully, she has told you thank you for the move!!! lol. We went to the store today to get new bird seed and suet for our feathered friends. As my DH was filling the feeders the birds were actually flying around him. You know those male are working hard to sing pretty for their mates!! emoticon The girls are busy making nests as are the males. I brushed our cats well and take the fur outside near the feeders. The birds love to line their nests with it. Of course if our cats knew they would not be happy! lol.

I love your stories and they made me smile. I love birds and flowers, and have learned to really love them since living in Florida. There are birds everywhere year round I know what you mean about the cats' excitement and their tails going crazy. It is fun to watch. emoticon

My friend, Tara, came for a surprise visit last night and my female cat, Lucy, came to say hello and she is usually not a people cat. I was surprised and I figured that she is really comfortable here and that makes me happy. emoticon

Ada, I had the exact same thing happen to my wreath. A red breasted finch landed on it and started to take things out of it, fly off and come back. It drove my female cat nuts. She kept "hollering" at it with her tail flipping like crazy. I was afraid at first she was thinking of building a nest in the wreath. I love listening to all the birds this time of year chattering away and so busy with their nest building. We have a few feeders for them and a bird baths so they
have all the comforts of home. Hope the car thing works out for you Ada. Have a great weekend all.

Had to laugh this afternoon; I was hearing the strangest noise at my front door so went to check on it. Apparently a little birdie found my wreath and is taking all the stuff it can off of it and using it to make a very nice nest somewhere. Told it hi - it was just sitting there on the railing looking at the door with part of my wreath in it's beak as if to say..hmmm.... do I go with the blue or yellow flowers??

I'm taking the car in on Monday, fingers crossed whatever is wrong with her isn't major or, if it is, is covered by my warranty.

Well - I have had some blessings appear. Someone named "anonymous" paid for my rent and water this month. What is more of a blessing is that my car developed engine problems on the way back from Georgia and I couldn't figure out how I was going to get it fixed, so, the money I was going to use on rent will go to fixing the car instead. I've also been having massive problems with my cell phone - which, while looking for a job, is not a good thing so my sister took me to Wally world yesterday and I got a new cell phone that is working 200% bett

Ugh...I hope your migraine leaves at some point - I hate those things. Been catching up on things - actually went to Valdosta this past weekend - my niece and nephew were having a dance recital and mom wanted to go so I took her and my other niece down there. It was nice, but to be honest, the recital was in an un-a/c building and by the end (it started 30 minutes late and lasted over an hour) I was so sick all I wanted to do was leave, I tried my best to enjoy it though. Got to see my aunt and uncle who live close to my brother and s-i-l and have become unofficial grandparents to my niece and nephew. It's amazing how far behind you can get on things sometimes.

Hi Ada! You are surely balancing a lot right now and how wonderful to have supportive friends! God bless you. emoticon It is very hard to be broke so I hope you find a job soon. Thanks for keeping us posted. emoticon

Today I will be seeing my doctor about the ongoing migraine and other issues. I like her since she is very nice to me and listens to me. The weather will be humid and hot today so taking buses is unpleasant but I am glad I have a way to get there.

Have a great day everybody and Pat, still praying for you and your granddaughter. God bless you both. Love, Chelsea

Pat - so sorry that all of this is going on. How is your granddaughter doing?

I got one chair recovered (finally) - the fabric is a blue, yellow and cream stripe and I added a lit bit more padding. I'm liking it. I have no idea when I'll be able to stain but the furniture is a pretty cherry color naturally so probably going to stick with that.

I had a blessing today - someone paid my rent for this upcoming month. I have no idea who it was but my car is sending a code that the engine is in trouble and I need to get it in soon and I had no idea how I was going to pay for that and now I can use the money I was going to pay for rent for the car - hoping it's covered under the warranty I bought.

I'm doing volunteer work still but have realized I need to cut it down to one day a week - it takes about 30 minutes to get there and today I almost ran out of gas on the way back home from a job fair I went to after doing the volunteer work. I had to back out of a kitty transport this upcoming weekend for the same reason - luckily I was just one of the back up drivers and not a primary one.

I have a really nice dining room set and Muffin is forever jumping up on the table. I am afraid she is going to sratch it the stinker. I keep a table cloth on it at all times because of that. What color is your fabric for the chair covers? What stain are you going to use on the wood? It will look just like new when you are all done!! Get pics if you can. Have a great day girlfriend!!!

Yesterday my sister and her husband brought me their old dining room set because they have a new one. I'm excited to have dining room furniture. I have fabric to recover the chairs and, at some point, plan on stripping and redoing the wood to clean it up some. The cats are perplexed by the china cabinet but like the chairs - trouble keeps liking them and it makes me cringe...ugh

Patricia, how is your granddaughter doing now? Did her friend make it? Schools usually have counselors to help young people with such issues. Please keep me posted. emoticon I reported a Spark gentleman who sounded suicidal on his last blog and got an email saying they would check it out (I sent an email to the staff here in SP). I am grateful that I have other coping skills to help me out when I am stressed out. As far as your granddaughter, she is very young and learning to cope with life's hard moments now so I am glad she has you to talk to as well. emoticon

I am so sad for your granddaughter Pat, it's heartbreaking when someone that young 1. has to be exposed to that trauma and 2. that any teenager feels it is so bad that they consider suicide a viable option.

Today was my first day at the community kitchen, it was nice to be out and about and doing things. Saw one child there which broke my heart for her. Now home and cleaning - driving Alcoa batty because she keeps following me everywhere and I think she wants me to stop moving...oh well.

A sad day. Our granddaughter got a call today at school that one of her friends who had moved to another state was going to take her life. She is seventeen year old and very unhappy with her school, made no new friends and cannot cope anymore. Naturally, our granddaughter was terrified for her ,tried to call her back and she would not answer. She was so upset she had to have her Mom come get her. Later learned that she ran her car into a tree luckily not killing herself. Life can be so hard . My heart goes out to her and her family.

I was heartbroken to hear about the bombing in Boston - it's hard to reconcile that some people just give themselves over to evil that way. I have not been watching a lot of it because it seems to focus so much on the bombers and not the heroes. I'm also trying to just not watch a lot of TV right now. Been working on job resumes this morning, sending them out and so forth. Have taken a break but will soon be back to it. The weather is so nice right now, had a lot of rain and I'm hoping to move some of my plants out to the deck this week.

So glad your hair turned out well. And what great news that you are getting a diningroom set.! That will make it a lot easier for you to eat especially with the little ones. I continue to pray for you to get a good job. A lesson in patience for you for sure. I am watching the constant information of the Boston Bombing. It must be so terrifying for those people where the bomber is. Cannnot imagine the fear they must be feeling!

Pat ~ the hair coloring went great - it took 3.5 hours to get the purple to go and a lot of finger crossing. My current color is pretty close to my original so happy with that. The new place is going well - my sister and her family is getting a new dining room set so they are giving me theirs so that makes me happy - currently the kids (if they are with me) are eating on the floor in the dining room since I won't let them eat where there is carpet. The other day I had Whitney (3 years old) and gave her mac-n-cheese and all of a sudden I hear a tiny hesitant voice say "aunt Ada...your cat is eating my food" and sure enough, Trouble had taken over the plate and was eating it all, something she has never done before. We had to suffer the stinky consequences later. Been doing some babysitting for family, cleaning for my mom and other odds and ends to try and pay back the assistance I've been given. I have faith though.

Patricia, I hope you feel better from the allergy problem. Here in Florida, the pollen counts are very high with high humidity and temps so it is not fun. I am VERY grateful for my working air conditioning! emoticon

Lady Love, I applaud you for doing volunteer work hopefully it will turn into a paying job. How did your hair coloring go? How is the new place coming along? Things are going well here with the exception of the pollen counts which are quite high which leaves me with watery eyes, sneezing like crazy and a sinus headache. Otherwise I am fine!!! lol. Take care everyone. Hugs to all. Pat

I have the same problem and now I have more than one resume (type) to apply for jobs. I don't list all my jobs or my degree when I apply for certain jobs. I decided that I can do the job and if I like it, why not stay? Just because I did something completely different before doesn't mean I can't do the new job or stay. Listing my degree is a problem when I applied for retail jobs. I wish you the best of luck.

I found out who the two Sparkers were who lived in Boston and they are fine AND their family and friends. They wrote blogs about their experience here in SP and that's how I found out. emoticon
