After a week of stubbling through the process in an imperfect way I still actually lost some weight & feeling great today! Ready to do it over this week in a better way. I'm amazed how good the recipes are, my favorite last week was the Halibut Stir-fry. Very yummy! At first I thought I burned the pan but it was just the color of the tamari, haha. New adventures in cooking :)

Good morning gang! I am back for the last time! I have let a busy schedule derail me a fewb times,and just seeing the success one of my co workers has had and is still having on FM makes me know it works. I have never gotten thru phase 3 yet,and this time taking it one week at a time.I just cooked up the chicken broccoli bowl for 2 days of phase 1,forgot I have the turkey chili frozen in individual containers!! Hi!
I'm new in the group. I'm doing the diet beginning on Saturdays. so I'm enjoying my mangoes on weekends. I lost 4 pounds in the first week. I'm finishing Day 2 of my second week now.
I felt hungry the second day of phases 1 and 2 during the first week. Phase 3 has so much food, I couldn't have the second snack! This week I'm doing better. Let's see what happens on that deadly Phase 2 (low carb AND low fat)...
First week I didn't do exercises (but Yoga on Phase 3) because I felt weak, but this week, I did already my fast pace walking, I'm going to do weight machines and and/or kettlebells for phase 2 and Yoga on Phase 3.
I'm really happy with this diet. I hope to have consistency and finish the bunch of cycles I have to do. May God Help me!

Great job on the week 1 completion and loss. And as everyone says, after you complete the 1st week, you start to figure this out. I would be lost without the phone and ipad app. The books and cookbooks are a quick read but tough when you are starting school work- I enjoy trying the new recipes.

The start of week 3 for me - phase 1 (which I love) and I lost 7.5 for the 2 weeks. I have 2 more weeks before my school starts and I want to have one cycle behind me. I also love phase 3 for the weekend. I cheated once this weekend and did not have snack 2 instead had a 3.5 oz glass of red wine (I have never had that little bit of wine in a glass) but it made sitting on the porch at the beach more relaxing. Tonight pasta and tomato sauce (made from tomatoes from my garden) I can't wait.

What is Shakeology Green Berry Shake and my T25 program and my BeachBody Coach? Is that part of the new stuff she is selling?

I have finished Week 1, and I lost 3 pounds!

I like Phase 3. The fat and carbs make me feel like I've "loosened up" a bit for the weekend without going off plan. I'm all ready to start over tomorrow.

I didn't do a great job planning with veggies and Phase 3 fruit this past week; I hope to have those things better figured out this coming week.

I ordered the cookbook, and it came Friday. I got sick Friday night, so I have yet to look through it.

Onward and downward!

Week 2 Day 2 Phase 2 for me and you are right, this is the hardest phase to meet parents after 6 PM.

Belmargirl - LOL! We started back to school this week, and I'm still figuring out my bathroom schedule with all of the extra water.

It is hard to drink all the water when we teach with ou limited bathroom accessibility.
It is easier to drink more of it after 3 PM.

I'm baaaaaack!!!!

I started my 28-day cycle today. Day 1, Phase 1.

It's been a good day. I did lots of food prep for the week last night and feel in good shape to make it through the week without any hiccups.

I don't have all my water in today, but it was the first day of school with students, and I've got to remember to take the time to go to my desk and take a drink on a regular basis.

Ready to get back to goal!

Week one done! 21 more days left of this cycle.
Only lost 4 pounds in week one with a 1.5 gain in phase 3 but feel great eating real food.
And I did go to a graduation party Saturday night and said no to alcohol and ice cream cake. I think I was more upset about the ice cream then the wine.

Off to week 2 - lets go ladies!

I have a master's in nutrition, and was very excited about this eating plan. the science is sound. And any system to keep one from eating junk (sugar being number one) is going to help you.

My personal hope for following this plan for the next 28 days is to kick the sugar habit, the caffeine habit, and learn to say "no" more often in social situations where alcohol is presented.

Hi everyone I'm back!!!! I totally blew it in Disney but actually did not gain that much at all. Probably because I walked in the heat about 10 miles a day!!!! My problem is (and I know it's mine alone) I ate so much sugar I am craving it again and can't seem to get back on track sigh... I understand it is a mind set not to eat it and I have to push through the cravings. On a happy note I drank lots of Diet Coke while I was away (my old love) and I was able to stop and not have any when I came home and do not miss it at all. Happy phasing everyone!!!

Having a hard time losing weight. It might be my thyroid but it's depressing to lose only a few pounds every other week. It might be my thyroid meds though. Doc just switched them up. At least I can see that I'm losing in my clothes and how my body looks.

Mickie - I don't think you will go thrugh the carb detox every week. I had slight headache the first week but none after that. in fact, in the second week I really had much more energy and that continued throughout two 28-day cycles. the third week I had my biggest weight loss but I never lost as much in any week as you have in your first week. your body is really responding to the diet.

All told, I lost 23 lbs. in two 28-day cycles. I have found that I don't gain as easily when I'm off the diet now and I still have a lot of energy. I will do another cycle after our August vacation and I hope that will finally get me to goal. it takes determination and planning but it is so worth it.

My satellite went down when a tiny tornado came through a week ago. How strange to be without internet and tv and having a phone to only call out in emergency (didn't know hubby had been leaving his for me)

I did the best I could last week from scribbled notes and memory. I lost almost 4.5 pounds! I was able to get the book out of the library on day 7. So I made a few mistakes. It worked out and except for slight headaches am doing great. I did miss reading your posts and having your support.

Mickie, I'm having a very similar experience w/phase 2 - I was very hungry, even though I ate a ton of veggies and drank lots of water. It was helpful to know it was only 2 days before I could switch gears and eat more. The other phases are great though and I'm feeling satisfied. I've lost an unbelievable 10 lbs since Monday, although I know a good bit of that is sludge and bloat from not eating healthy before I started.

I also have the app which I've found handy while grocery shopping, and I like how the food list shows you by color code which foods are permissible in each phase.

The weekend will be eventful, so I know I must plan everything ahead. I always do better during the week when my days are more routine.

The app has been very helpful for figuring out meals. There is a meal map for each week, then you go to the day, and whatever Phase you're in, it tells you what's required. Then when you click on that required food, a list of what you can have shows up.

I survived Phase 2. Even though I've done a lot of low carb lately, I did NOT enjoy that! I was hungry (not unbearably, but enough to notice) and found it much harder than Phase 1. Last night I added an egg white protein powder shake, because I needed something more.

I was VERY happy to see some carbs and especially some fat this morning!

While I won't count an official Week 1 loss until Monday, as of this morning I am down 6.4 pounds! I am so excited to see my body actually respond to something!!!!

It makes me wish I was going to be here next week so I could continue on, but I'll pick it back up the next week.

Good afternoon gang! It's been a busy last couple of days! I ordered a used copy of the Fast Met. cookbook and I think it should be here today! Yes phase 3 was a little confusing hopefully I'll do better this time! I make my own Turkey jerky,I buy thin sliced raw turkey breast,pound it a little,marinate it in tamari then in the dehydrator for a few hours! All the jerky I saw had sugar in it!!! I made it through the first day of Phase 2. Started with a carb-detox headache last night (it went away with some ibuprofen).

Is that to be expected every week?

I really enjoyed my turkey bacon yesterday and Nick's Sticks turkey jerky.

Phase 3 seems the most complicated of the phases (there are more options for each meal), so I have some planning to do today.

I'm enjoying the plan and thinking it is something I can do when I'm able to give it a full 28 days in August!

I'm down 4.4 pounds in my first Phase 1.

Phase 2 begins today. I've been doing low-carb for a while, so this is very familiar to me. I'm also glad to get a bit more protein today, as that will help with hunger levels. I haven't been ravenous, but I've missed some protein.

I've been tracking my food - even though this is not a calorie-counting plan - just to see where my numbers are ending up, and I'm impressed that I've been able to come in UNDER my calorie limit every day and be very satisfied. I haven't wanted to eat the legs off furniture at all, LOL.

Day 1 was a success!

I was a bit hungry throughout the day, but nothing unbearable.

Today's food is mostly leftovers from yesterday, so it's a "rinse & repeat" day.

Thanks to the increased water yesterday and some yummy watermelon, I spent the day running back and forth to the bathroom. I call it the "tinkle trots," LOL.

But it meant a 3+ pound drop on the scale this morning.

I'll take it!

Last night I was getting hungry. It finally dawned on me that it had been 3 hours since I had eaten dinner, so I had some fruit. I think I'm going to like that rule in the evenings. :)

Quick question - I bought sweet potatoes to use as a carb on Phases 1 and 3, but as I've looked through the book and the app, sweet potatoes are a veggie?!?!?

I'm a little scared to eat a sweet potato AND a grain!

What do you guys do?

I faced the music - and the scale - this morning. Ugh.

But...today is Day 1, and I'm on plan and ready to roll!

Oatmeal with blueberries for b'fast this morning. I went ahead and made 2 servings of oatmeal so breakfast tomorrow is even easier.

Groceries are bought, and I'm ready to start!

Dh cut up a watermelon and cantaloupe for me tonight for the next 2 days. The kids are fans of both, so hopefully they'll last for 2 days. I also bought apples and cuties.

I found nitrate-free turkey bacon at Wal-Mart! I didn't think I would find it anywhere in town.

I'm ready to get on the scale in the morning (haven't checked in for 2 weeks and not looking forward to it) and get going in the right direction.

I've never planned for diet phases that were just a couple of days long before. I think I'll like changing up my food every few days.

It's grand reading of y'all's successes.

The doc gave me permission to resume the plan. Yesterday I started all over again. A caffeine withdrawal headache woke me up this morning. I finally gave in and drank 1/4 cup of coffee. It's still there, just not so bad.

I am in the middle of a month second only to December in its difficulty for me, diet-wise. My birthday, dh's birthday, our anniversary, family reunion, and...homemade fried okra from my in-laws' garden. :) I also have a 4-day training trip for school.

So...I am not going to try to do a clean 28 days until the first student day of school on August 11.

Until then, though, when I am home and not celebrating, I am going to follow the phases to become familiar with them and to help prevent any weight gain.

I bought the kindle book and am reading it now. Hoping for a soft start next week. I can do a whole week before birthday/anniversary/trip week.

Great news that you had a good week and was able to watch your eating. If you use the same planning for your Disney trip you will be good. Remember don't get down on yourself if you have to eat off plan. Getting upset messes up your metabolism. Just do your best and keep trying.

Well I just got back from NYC for a week long writing conference for work. I'll be honest I was so scared I would ruin all my hard work so I planned ahead. I just ate the eggs and fruit for breakfast at the hotel. I brought 5 packs of tuna, peppers, a cucumber and carrots and packed my lunch every day for the conference. At night I went out to eat but tried to sub fries for a salad and had chicken, a steak sandwich, a burger etc... I did good!!!! I didn't gain any weight at all. I also worked out at night and ran the stairs as much as I could...nine flights every night!!!! Now comes the tough one....Disney World vacation for 9 days!!! Heaven and Hayley help me!

My husband and I started FMD March 2013. We had one day that we took a friend shopping and so we had pizza. There was a weekly thing and also we had eating out some with our church. We set up that our P3 day would fall on the day we went shopping. Plus when we eat out at church we could pick a healthier meal where possible. We still lost weight. My husband read an article that when you are on a diet that having a "off diet" day or pig out day will keep your body from thinking you are on a diet. Of course that is mainly more for restricted diets

We went on Maintenance January 2014.

I think your body has caught-on to what you're doing with this plan, so I would switch things up a little to restart weight loss. If it were me, I would stick to the big rules, no grains, no dairy, etc, but would change things up. Maybe alternate phase 1 days with phase 2 days, or have a larger meal here and there. I had a big lunch on Sunday and skipped the afternoon snack and still lost some weight. Now I'm off plan, still following the main rules but eating whichever type of day I feel like at the time. If I go back on plan at some point I want it to be something by body is not anticipating so it works again. That's just my opinion, I don't know what has worked for others or what Haylie suggests in the book for dealing with a stall. Hang in there.

I love phase 1 and wonder if I cut the carbs to just dinner would this work as a maint plan. I have a hard time finding healthy fats. Also I wonder if I make one day like Saturday not a free for all but a day where I can eat spelt pretzels or some of the healthier fun foods. Just wondering. I am on week 9 and have been stalled at 12 pounds loss. I need to lose 6 more pounds to be happy and I can't seem to do it following the 28 day cycle...frustrating!

Sounds like you are both doing well with this. Gaining only 2 and then maintaining is excellent, MD. Sorry you're having to start over, but it's great that you know this plan works for you, KS. I like eating low carb, switched to this plan because I had been stalled out for some time and I am down 5 pounds in the 26 days, so really happy about that. Also I'm thrilled to not have a fear of carbs now anymore. I think I ate fruit about 3x a year when I was low carb. Just have to figure out what schedule I want to use going forward. I'll stick with the frequent meals, but I think this plan is way too fat-phobic. I'll probably keep phase 1 as it is, but phase 2 is going to be having some fat added and phase 3 has to change too - just not sure exactly how yet.

I had my Endo tell me to eat more carbs each meal and all I did was gain 11 pounds. Now I have to start all over losing the 11 pounds. I found the plan good for the last year it took me 9 months to loose the 30+ pounds I know it took much longer to gain it. My husband has the steel cut oats and will make a big batch and will mix different fruits and other item with it and make it taste just as good and better for us than the instant oatmeals.

I know how you feel Yknot! I gained 2 lbs right away but have kept it there for 3 weeks now just basically doing Phase 3. But I can see that it is too liberal with thecarbs/ fat for me to stay on. So I am tracking my food in the Nutrition Tracker just to see what the numbers are. Just curious.

I have a friend that is reading the book now and promised her I would do the 28 days with her. Just wish Phase 2 were a little easier!

Yupp - the steel cut oatmeal and fruit is wonderful. I'm in agreement that this plan (I hesitate to call this a diet) is fantastic, because it tell us what we need to eat and gives us plenty to eat and it's really the way we should have been eating all along. emoticon

I really love the way I'm no longer obsessing about food at all anymore on this plan. I'm honestly starting to feel like I now know what a "normal" eater feels like. I used to find it funny when my naturally thin friends would leave 5 or 6 bites of food uneaten on their plates, like oh what, you can't manage that much more food? But now I do that routinely, may wash 6 strawberries and only end up wanting 3 of them, so only eat 3. It's a wonderful feeling.

I am the same way so I waited to eat and moved it up a little bit each day so now I eat about 45 min after I get up. Better then 2 to 3 hours I figure.
