Darlene, You have my prayers here in WI too.

We have 18 here this morning

If I could just get this dog gone ins thing settled before the end of the year now I will be one happy camper. They got the health ins all done now and got Ken signed up for his meds but are still having problems with my med ins. They got us signed up with Ken at one com and me with another one....

I get on there and I can just feel my blood pressure going up and I really start sweating so much....Just give me that right answer please for once....Than you can never talk to a person until I get yelling at them....

Ken is going to have his first cataract surgery in Jan for his right eye. So, we got that going on now too. He had to get a special eye drop with the one most people use as he is a diabetic...Never just go with the flow with us. Gosh, what will Mr Ken do now that he will be able to see things LOL.....He is still saying WHAT out of habit LOL I know he can hear me just fine as he looks right at me

We're back from our walk. It was 35 but you had to add in that wind chill factor.

I'm off to the Archives. I lost 1.2 since yesterday. I knew that pound wasn't real but it was scary

We have to go see the heart surgeon tomorrow to get the results of the CT
scan from Tuesday.
Praying for good results and that he does not need a surgery or anything.
His cardiologist said No surgeries, period....so I am insisting on us calling
him and getting an appp't before any decisions are made.

Absolutely will pray for Bob and Mary!!

Annie, I'm beginning to wonder if I'll get ANY baking done! LOL

Steph, I'm sure you'll do just fine with your vocal performance.

Oh boy, Aiyden came home from Brenda's tonight carrying a guitar his Uncle Austin gave him and he won't let it go. Strumming like he knows what he's doing. I think his "hillbilly roots" are showing! LOL

Had a great visit with Andy's Aunt Algia - she was so happy to see her nephews. Spent most of the afternoon with her - lots of memories and laughs shared. Special time.

Only ate half our lunch at Olive Garden, so leftovers for dinner. Works for me!

Please continue to include my sister Mary and her DH Bob in your prayers. She called at about 6 to say that they just got back from Drs. appointments down at the hospital they started out at 1 then Bob had to go somewhere else to have blood work , Mary got her shot and then they had to wait for another Drs. appointment. At least they could wait at their daughters house who lives across the street from the hospital.

Mary has to get another blood transfusion on Monday.

Thanks they really need prayers.

emoticon emoticon mmm Found a new YUMMY JUICE!! Tried BOK CHOI for the first time. Combine that with Apples and some celery!! YUM YUM YUM!!!

Peggy thanks for listening to the song. It has a lot of vocal parts and I'm trying to learn mine....yikes...one week left and I better have it down!! There are usually 2 of us that sing the same part..but the lady that sings with me won't be around for Christmas eve service..so I have to carry the part alone!!! Now that's a challenge!

Merri - those insurance issues can be such a headache! I have medical through my school retirement as a supplement to medicare through Andy. For the most part it's been a good plan.

Off to meet Andy's brother and SIL for lunch at Olive Garden and then on to see his aunt in the nursing home. She's had a few bad spells recently and we wanted to be sure to see her. I got her a pretty cross necklace from Andrea's jewelry line - I think she'll like it.

Happy Hanukkah to Ania and Marek!! (Just in case Ania checks in.....LOL)

Have a great day everyone.

Thank you gals once again for praying for Rick's safety ...He is 10 1/2 hours ahead of us so I bet he is going to sleep most of the day today while Nina is at work...

Now that I got one thing God has helped us with, I have to dive into this darn health ins yet. We do have the supplement ins done but are having one darn hard time trying to get the med part figured out...Dam that Pepsi anyway!!! They have been so mean to Ken ever since someone at his job hurt him while he was checking the oil on the big trucks....

The info for them not wanting to carry the retired employees ins was suppose to have been sent to Ken last Aug. We didn't know a thing about it until 6 weeks ago... It is going to go up at least to $250 a month and Pepsi thought it was going to be to our benefit !!!

We're back from our walk. It was 42 and I didn't even need my gloves. My hands are always inside the sleeves of my sweatshirt anyway.

I'm going shopping with my friend Kathy and then grocery shopping with Jerry when I get back

Annie, that sounds like such a great time, catching up with your former manager! Aiyden loves the lights and music of Christmas. He likes Santa (Ho Ho) from a distance, but was intimidated when he saw him at the mall yesterday. I don't think he really gets the whole idea yet. We have a tub full of animated Christmas figures that play all different songs. His favorite is a motorcycle with a fox dressed like Santa riding it that sings "Grandma got run over by a reindeer! LOL

Darlene - are you all ready for Christmas???

That was a good spin you had on the wheel Jim!

Yaaaay Merri - glad your son is safe! Wonderful news!

Any luck on the angel Barb? I think St. Anthony is the saint for lost items (according to my Catholic girlfriend). Sad thing is if someone picked it and your list up off the ground, they'd have no idea what to do with it. SO hoping it might be in your truck or purse or pocket!

Barb, I am so sorry to hear too that you lost your angel. I wonder if you left it in your truck someplace. So glad to hear too that you did indeed get your washer and dryer home tho...Now off to get your Christmas tree next...

Joyce, You sore have gotten a lot done since your vacation. You are going to need another one after Christmas is all over and done...

We are all done with the shopping and I got a few gifts wrapped already. We are going to get our DS and his X wifes' mailed out tomorrow.

Rick has called us now and he is safe in NV by his X wife....He could only speak for a min as he was at the airport and Nina was there to pick him up...That is all we need for Christmas...

So sorry you lost the angel saying a few prayers that you find it.

Steph I listened to the song on You Tube it had a great beat. The first one that I tried to watch had too many things moving in it for me.

I did the shopping thing yesterday, and was reminded how much I hate being in crowds and in stores all day. I picked up my washer and dryer, no room in the truck to get a tree so that had to wait, did get a lot of Christmas shopping done. Returned several things that needed returning, and got to the Mall to get an angel off the salvation army tree that I do every year, this year was a 2 month old boy, listed for presents were diapers, and teething rings and a high chair. Well high chairs were out of my budget, but I did get a box of 92 diapers a couple teething rings and a couple one piece sleepers, then I lost the angel that they give you with the request on it along with my Christmas shopping list, it unfortunately had the Christmas week menu and what I was supposed to make on it also. sigh. I didn't get home until 11 pm and had to go do chores, but it was nice to have already eaten in Bangor so that was all taken care of!
Today I have been picking up again, but slowly, only one more day off and I have to go to Millinocket to get my car inspected so half of that will be wasted. I have been putting off taking a bunch of boxes upstairs guess I will buck up and go do that now!

Good Morning All....

Have Aiyden today. Going to try and sort through what I bought yesterday and see if I'm done or not. I know I want to get a few things for a needy family my daughter is sponsoring at her salon and I forgot that yesterday, Hopefully that's all I forgot.

Have a great day everyone! Remember to move that body and resist the treats! emoticon

Hi Gwyn - always happy to see you stop by.

Barb, sounds like you have the parents' gifts handled - that's a good feeling isn't it?

Annie, I'm with you - LOVE this team - this was my first Spark team and I have such dear friends here - old and new.

Tee, I'm sorry you didn't feel this team was a good fit for you - wish you had shared with us what you felt was lacking for you, we truly try to make everyone feel welcome and a part of the "family."

Bern - LOL on the roll of quarters in the pocket! You're doing really well holding off on the goodies. So far so good here. My granddaughter made Christmas cookie and I did have a couple, but only one small one at a time. Tonight she took them to her Christmas party at McDonald's, so the temptation is gone. Whew! After Christmas dinner I send "take home" boxes with everyone so I don't have too much tempting me here! LOL

Jim, I'm sure you will make the very best of the holiday no matter what! You have such a great, positive attitude.

Can you say TIRED???

Left here around 10 this morning, didn't get back till around six! We met my spark friend Debbie and her grandson Jensen for lunch at Applebees and then we shopped till we dropped - just about literally. Hit the mall. Aiyden not a Santa fan there - he really didn't like him, which surprised us. Finally managed to get a picture with Andrea sitting with him. He did love the train that took him for a ride around the whole mall, though. Did some shopping there, then Target, Kohls and Walmart. I think I'm pretty well done - too tired to even haul it all out and look! LOL

Cold seems some better today, so I'm grateful for that.

Well, Andy's in the kitchen - wanna bet he's making spaghetti because I'm too tired to worry about it? It's the only thing he knows how to cook besides hot dogs. LOL

OK - so I was wrong - he made hamburgers! emoticon

Bern you crack me up everytime I read your postings. Sure you aren't a comedian looking for new material on here? Joyce, we decided to stay put for now. This holiday will be a challenge but we do enjoy our quiet homelife and each others company. We do have newneighbors with three yapper dogs that our dogs just stare at and watch bark when I walk.

Sorry Tee you didn't feel a good fit. Most of the time when trying to acclimate to a new team I find everyone pulls the freeze out game with you the first 15 or so posts until they figure out it is actually just a roll of quarters in your pocket.

Hi everyone! Tis every fat person's worst time of the year. I'm trying to avoid all those holiday yummies, so far I'm doing pretty good. A dear friend reminds me that even if you fall on your face, you are still moving forward. I'm hoping to reach January 2nd, (alive) and either the same or a bit lower in weight. Hope the same for all of you.

Well, I'm still alive, so there's thatÖ..

Joyce, I am so glad to see where your GS Austin passed the first part of his EMT test!!! We have a GS that is a welder too. Ken did take classes for welding years ago too...It is a good trade to have...Always good jobs out there for those guys...

Barb, I sure hope everything falls into place for you. I really wouldn't like exchanging names like that either. We never did anything like that at work. You have enough on your plate already before Christmas.

Happy Birthday to Jerry on his real birthday!!

Annie, We haven't heard anymore from Rick. We more than likely won't hear anything now until he calls from an airport in the states. It is so hard with him over there. We thought all of our worries were over when he retired from the Air Force after 20 years. He was in the states for five years and than when back over to Afghanistan as a contractor....

Hi Gwyn!!

So long Tee.

Jerry and I just got back from our walk. Today is his real birthday and we're celebrating again.

I have a lunch party at the Archives today. I made cream cheese cookies to bring and I even figured out the calories etc by putting the recipe in the spark recipe calculator

I was going to go shopping yesterday, but then realized if I went and got the washer and dryer I couldn't get them out of the truck by myself and I need to use the truck to take the lambs down today. So I did some pick up and organization, it seems like I make more of a mess when I do that then before, guess it has to get messy before it gets better!

Gwyn, just to say hi back!

Merri, so glad they got Rick out of there and he is safe! That must have been a tremendous worry for you. What a nice present from your grandson, food is such a big item to have to buy. I have in the past given my parents and brother meat from the farm for Christmas presents, last year I gave them each 100 lbs of beef, and many years I give them a lamb. I am not doing either this year because they need to use up stuff from the freezer too.

Peggy, tell Jerry happy birthday from us! Ravioli and meatballs sounds great!

Joyce, hope you are getting over your cold, shopping is not much fun sniffling!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, They love to go to olive garden when in Bangor so I think I will get them a certificate to that plus the food basket sounds like a good idea too. I usually pick them up a small goodie each week when I shop for them and pay for it separately, nothing big, maybe some muffins they like or fruit they wouldn't get like raspberries or blueberries, I got Dad some chestnuts he really likes them (so do I), this week it was a bunch of bananas.

I just read someones blog that said this was the last full week before Christmas and panicked, wow, how did that creep up on me! I need to get a gift for work too, it really annoys me that they decided to do gifts. Before you got an ornament if you wanted and they did a Yankee swap with the ornaments hanging on the tree. I don't really want to spend the money on people I don't particularly like or would be friends with, I tolerate them at work and do not socialize with them at all, it is hard to get gifts for people like that because you are not in sync with them. The Christmas party is also going to be at work Thursday night, and we are ordering out, more money I didn't want to spend, sigh, kind of Scrooge like I guess! oh well politics always come into the work place.

G'night all....

Didn't realize your son was a welder Annie! That's what my GS Austin does. Don't think I thought to mention it here, but he had his first part of the EMT testing yesterday and passed! He was really excited. This was the practical experience or "hands on" testing and next week he has the written test.

emoticon a happy birthday to Jerry,, and Peggy,, so glad the concert in the Church went so well..

Merri:
a H U G E thankyou God for the safety of Rick.. I for one was NOT happy when the government/news put all that stuff on TV/internet,, all it did was stir up unrest.. the government people NEVER thought ONE little bit, it would be awful for those working over there,, but again, happy Rick is safe.

Joyce:
thanks, our DS is a very kind-thoughtful guy , who in his 20's was asked to model,, but he wanted to be a welder !! lol

Barb, I remember years ago when Ken got hurt at work and we didn't have much money for food. When we were over at our DD's house and our grandson Kyle was working at Pick & Save and they had given him a gift card for $25 to use more or less when they had their brakes during the day.

Kyle gave his gift card to us so we could buy some meat. That gift meant more to us to any Christmas gift that we have ever gotten since. He was only 16 and was so giving way back than and still is. He is now 28 and still calls me "Gramsiecakes" to this day LOL

Thanks too all of you for thinking of our Rick. He was on Skype, just typing on there tho as he said things are too much in an up roar for him to show himself on Skype. I have to tell you that one more of his friends has died over there now too.

They got Rick out of Afghanistan over night and he is now in a disclosed place and he will be shipped to the US early tomorrow morning for his Christmas vacation time and than maybe more time until things calm down over there.

He said all of this started when they started showing things on TV that went on with the captured men who got board washed and tourchared over there...Than ole heck let lose...

Barb, I agree that either idea would be good for the parents. A gift card to a nice restaurant would be a special night out, or the food items they won't purchase for themselves would be a treat. If they like movies, maybe a "movie basket" of a special DVD, popcorn, candy, etc. to make a movie night at home for them. I'm sure whatever you do will be perfect in their eyes. What a shame the horse didn't like being out after you worked so hard. I SO remember the days on the dairy farm and our horses - so much work, I don't know how you keep up with it.

Peggy, a concert at church is perfect! Would love to hear Jerry play sometime!

Trudy, it was a fun time with Debbie. We've seen each other several times since she's right here in Ohio - about an hour and a half away. She hosted a get together of five Sparkers at her home a year ago - it was a great time.

Well, hopefully I'll get organized today as far as what gifts I need to get tomorrow. The head cold is probably at its peak today - I usually manage to shake them off in a few days. Hope so, we want to visit Andy's aunt in the nursing home Wednesday and I don't want to take any germs to her!

Jim, what did you guys decide - home, or a road trip for Christmas??

Good morning,
It's still dark here. I'm going to the mall to wrap gifts for Habitat for Humanity today. Only 2 hours. It's always a fun time.
Barb, I think either idea is good for your parents. Both are great for people trying to pare down.
Joyce, I'm happy you got to hear the band AND visit with a sparkler!! I had a cold last week and on Tuesday only got dressed because I had to take the trash to the street.
But, I stayed on top with Zicam and it was short lived. Just a bit of junk in my head now. I hope you're as lucky.
It sounds like you had a fantastic day Annie!! Glad your son had such a good birthday!
Peggy, you're right that it's special to have a Christmas concert in a church. Such peace can be found in a church pew!
Everyone have a great day.

Good morning.

for the gift ideas I like the food idea that they think is too expensive. That would be a real treat for them.

Jerry's concert last night was great. It is so nice having a Christmas concert in a Church. It was a fundraiser for the Food Pantry held by 5 churches jointly. It is nice seeing them all work together.

Yesterday was catch up on farm work day, I cleaned out the ditches, was slow work for some reason, the ramp to the pile was kind of slippery so pushing the wheelbarrow was something done carefully. The critters all went out, I carried a bunch of hay out for them and I wanted the horse to go run so I made sure her water was ice free, that meant I had to break up the ice and get it out of the tub and took her out there, well I never realized that she didn't like to walk were there was water before, because of all the rain the culverts that dump on my land are running water down over my pastures, and hers is the most wet, she stayed in a corner of the pasture pacing around most of the day, never even went over to her shelter or water, what a waste of time!
After finishing the ditches, I decided I was tired of the cows feed dishes dropping down so I cut some strips of wood and built up the sides of the runners on three of the cows stalls, so the dishes slide but don't fall down. Sometimes the sheer strength of a 2500 lb cow is hard to remember when building.
I got the hay thrown down for the week, 60 bales, then emptied the truck, I had help with the truck because my neighbor came by with my milk and to pick up his eggs in exchange. It made the work go much faster with two, I had 20 bags of pellets and 12 bags of grain to take in and put away.
Now that the truck is empty I think I will go pick up my washer and dryer that are in early, and maybe do a little Christmas shopping, I don't have much to get this year, but am still at a loss about my parents. They certainly don't need any more "stuff" Dad is trying to clean things out and downsize. I would guess food items or gift certificates may be options, I have in the past gotten them gas cards or restaurant gift certificates, or food items that they like but wouldn't buy for themselves because they are expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a perfect day Annie! Saw your son's pic on FB - handsome fella! Yaaaay on the DVD!

We went and listened to Hatrick, only one more performance left before they split up. Might go hear that one Friday night. One of my spark friends and her sister met us there. Got a chance to visit for a couple of hours. We're meeting her at the mall Monday for lunch and shopping, too. :-)

Andrea and her boyfriend made cutout cookies tonight and are decorating them. Works for me!

Hi everyone!

Dang, the head cold finally caught me! Hopefully I can shake it off fast. Andy's had one, Aiyden's had one, my daughter has bronchitis - guess it was bound to catch me.

Got my cards finished up last night, have to get a few more stamps.

Going to a winery this afternoon to hear a band we like that is disbanding this month. One of my spark friends is meeting us there! :-)

Annie, glad the storm missed you, I don't like the big winds, mostly because of all the really old trees around here. We missed a big part of the storm on Tuesday, they said snow and ice and rain and wind starting in the morning, but snow didn't start until nightfall, and rain started the next morning, so we only got about 8" of snow before the rain, it rained hard most of the day, but the 50 mph winds never happened luckly. The old sump pump got a work out, water was pouring in the cellar in a bunch of places, but it has mostly stopped now. Funny to get all this warm weather and rain after all the below 0 stuff we have been getting.

Finally off work for a few days, I was going to get up early today and go to Bangor but sleep was more enticing since I don't sleep well. Last night at work was completely dead, I fell asleep reading my kindle for a couple of hours which made me feel much better.

The topic about caramels had me drooling, my one special treat while losing weight is a milky way all caramel fun bar. I love to make homemade caramels, and have a great recipe for vanilla bean caramels that everyone loves, so the question is to make them or not lol! Then of course the question will be to eat them or give them away, it will be hard to give them all away!

Hope everyone is getting lots of Christmas stuff done!

Annie, I am so glad to hear too that all is well with both of you with that big storm going through. I am so sorry to hear about your cool 1956 Chevy. Oh boy, that sure sounds it was going to be one beauty!!!

Joyce, I really don't like to go shopping either. Ken gets me so nervous when he has to take so long picking out food..Now how can one banana be better than the next? Or you should see him getting his bread...I sometimes have to walk away and look at something else as he is just going to find the best one in the store LOL

ah so HAPPY the storm missed us,, BIG TIME.. we had trees swaying/lights flickering, but we didn't get the 90 mph winds like they thought we would.. Thank God for that !!

our DD lives inland and they got it worse, tree down on the neighbors house, her DH is there helping repair, so the rest of the house won't be damaged,, and our DD said a tree went down on their shop..She said her DH said do not go into the shop.. wait until he gets back from helping the neighbors.

My DD said, oh Mom you know the 1956CHEVY that Darren is restoring for you(me) to drive in the car show is in the shop !! it was almost done,, he was ready to paint it.. so won't know the outcome of THAT until tomorrow..

our DS and his GF are due here in about an hr.. it is his 44th B=Day,, we are doing Surf/Turf ( he has to BBQ the steaks though ,, lol )

Luckily I'm not a big candy fan, but do love caramel and dark chocolate.

Need to get to the store today - think I'll just go to Dollar General, it's close and has what I need. Don't want to do an all out shopping yet, do that next week sometime. Can you tell how much I dislike shopping? LOL

I've never met a sugar I didn't like. Love all candy (except those ribbon Christmas things that stick together after a few days). Tis the season and I need to keep my paws out of the treat dish and my lips sealed. Easy for some, never for me.

Well, I'm still alive, so there's thatÖ..

Jerry and I got to go for our walk this morning. This is the first one since Monday. It was 30 degrees out but it felt good to be out walking again.

I don't know why I bought so much caramel because I love it. Guess I'll measure and see how much is a serving that isn't too many points and save it for special times.

We're off to buy our tree today and will put it up tomorrow.

Tomorrow night, Jerry has another concert in a Church I've never been to before. It is a fundraiser for their food bank.

I love caramel. I asked my family for a pound of See's candy for my birthday once. Only caramels. It was the best present I ever received. I still go to See's to buy a few caramels on my birthday.

I hope the storm misses you Annie. We are bracing for big storm tonight in Ca. Storm just hit Santa Barbara and arrives in my area (So. coastal) in the morning. Some people already have rain, strong winds and power outages. My area is getting a little rain and some wind now.

I felt good today. I worked out at gym for few hours and went to mall afterwards. There were 50% off sales, and few shoppers. Just the way I like to shop. I did a good amount of shopping, but half was for my daughter to give her relatives.

YUMMY - love chocolate covered caramels.

I can just imagine how wound up Adin must have been! Good thing he had basketball practice to work it off. LOL

This morning I went to the Archives and then I drove to the chocolate shop and bought 3 1/2 pounds of caramel. I'm going to make chocolate covered caramels and turtles for Christmas.

after lunch we went up to Jodi and Dave's. Adin was really wound up. He had half a day today so he went to his fathers office. Dave is Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and his office is in Adin's school.

One of the guys gave Adin a couple of Oreos and a piece of candy and he was all wound up with all of that sugar. He was really bouncing off the walls. He had basketball practice at 7 so he could run some of it off while there.

Peggy, We decided it would be better all around for me to retire and work on the farm, we had a lot of stuff going on here, I made 6-10 K lbs of butter a year, we had a market garden, and a animal farm, raised pork, lamb, beef, chicken, veal, and rabbit for sale, my flock of chickens were up to 200 hens. We were really busy most of the time but I loved it, and no matter what nothing is as stressful as hospital work and labs. I couldn't do all that alone, and without a outside income I couldn't pay house payments and other stuff so the only option was to go back to work until at least the house was paid. It is hard to shuffle all the stuff with working but I am kind of living on hold for a while just to maintain status quo.

I had my lab work done this morning and my platelet count is maintaining well, the prednisone is going to be lowered this week to 5 mg, huge difference from 80 mg, then in 7 days will be cut out completely. Yay! Hopefully the platelets will stay around for the holidays!

Joyce, you always seem to me to be just as busy lol, matter of perspective I guess.

I am trying to get good planning going for these upcoming days off to maximize getting Christmas things done! Some precooking will be a good idea if there is time.

We went out to walk at work last night but it was too icy, places to walk are getting to be hard to find. I resorted to walking in the barn the last few days, the animals think I am nuts!

Good morning,
It sounds like everyone is getting ready for the holidays. I'm ready. It helps that I'm not going to be home. No decorating or meal planning!!! I'll be with my son and his wife. My daughter and her family will be gone. I don't know when I'll see them. Their things are ready to mail.
I'm going to play Bunco tonight. I went in Sept. and wasn't able to be there in Oct. or Nov.
I'm glad I can make it this month. It's a lot of fun. We're having a White Elephant gift exchange. Should be a riot!!
Everyone have a great rest of the week.

Merri - I used to send Lawson cards to friends who emailed. Seems very few use the email now, they're more on Facebook. I got WalMart gift cards for the granddaughters in TN. Mailing them tomorrow and told them to buy gifts for the babies and wrap them from us. They know what they want or need and it save me postage. I used to really dislike giving gift cards but these days it really does make things simpler.

Joyce, I am not sure if I mentioned on this site our not, but I am using the Lawson card site this year for all our relatives and friends who have a computer. We do send our four kids cards tho too....Some of them have gift cards in them that live out of state....

It is only 22 here this morning and we are going to just stay home. We got a call from FedEx yesterday that they are going to be delivering something that has to be signed for. So, it is a good thing we weren't going to be going anywhere anyway....Now what did our Rick send to the house???? Maybe something from Ebay?

Good morning all....

Barb, I could never keep up with you - you amaze me!

Peggy, I'm glad you don't try to walk if there's a chance of ice, too risky - that's for sure! I think the snow in Ohio will stay more north of us. We may get some, but not too much.

Jim is picking Aiyden up this morning so I'll try to get my cards finished while he's gone today. I've cut back on cards, but still send a lot. I enjoy sending cards, do them all year long for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Thank heaven for Dollar General - if I had to pay the price in other stores, I'd quit sending them. The postage is almost enough to make me stop these days. Kinda sad.

Well, I need to feed Aiyden and give him his antibiotic before he goes, then he won't need it again till this evening. Be back later.

This is the third day in a row that we cant' get out for a walk. This morning the sidewalks and our path and driveway have a coating of snow on them but we don't know if there is ice underneath so we aren't chancing it.

Maybe later this morning because I'm staying home from the Archives too. I'll just look things up on my computer.

Barb you mean you retired and then went back to work? that would be a bummer, especially the job you have.

It has been pouring rain all day, much better then snow, but we had the snow last night so it is very heavy. I plowed this morning and prayed that the driveway wouldn't be glare ice when I got up to go to work.
I stayed up way too late last night, my younger brother Mike called while I was doing chores about 8 pm and we talked until 12:30 when I reminded him he also had to go to work on Wednesday. They have started construction on the addition to his house, he is adding on two sides of his house, one to make a family room and one to house my parents. We talked over the Christmas menu for the days he will be here, and what everyone wanted for Christmas, and solved the worlds problems as usual.
I am impressed with everyone that has their Christmas Cards done, I never get around to that anymore, and haven't for the last few years, it was never my thing to send cards anyway.
I am stressing already about all the stuff I have to get done, I have 6 days off then a horrible schedule for over the holidays, I work the weekend before with a 4 night stretch, then one night off and back, I do get 4 days off after that but one will be a sleep day, then I am back on Sunday, and working the Sunday after that too, so 3 weekends in a row. In my days off I need to get to Bangor at least twice, once to pick up the washer and dryer and once to get my car inspected, wish I could shove it in the back of the pickup for the ride down and only do one trip lol. I also need to take the Lambs to market, loading them up and going down to Millinocket. Then there is the whole Christmas thing, need to go shopping, wrapping and all that stuff. I was planning on doing a lot of picking up and straightening up the house but that always seems to go by the wayside. I would so like to quit this job, the schedule is so erratic, you never know what is going on for days off. sigh, I really liked retirement much better.

Peggy, Brenda and Jim might still want to have their parties here, but I guarantee you Austin won't be the one getting things ready for them. LOL

Well, the cataract surgery will be the latest in laser surgery, and we will have to
check on the insurance, because I have medicare and military insurance for backup.

I am blessed with the insurance thing....David is retired and before that I couldn't afford
much, maximum deductible and all that.

I don't think it is my meds, I take one blood pressure pill and thyroid, no cholesterol problems
since I have lost weight....I still have some to go but my numbers are all good.

They have been telling me for 10 years I had some cataracts and someday they would have
to be corrected, but he said it was totally up to me as to when. So I will hold off on it for now.
I hope they would knock me out because anybody gets near my eyes I become combative...
LOL

Thanks for commenting.

Good Morning to all! I'm still on vacation...and starting to sweat getting everything done in time for Christmas. I am enjoying my time away, though. I'm planning on attending a WW meeting tomorrow - we won't be home until Sunday and I don't really want to miss any meetings. I'm not losing any weight - I just want to use it as a deterrent to gaining!!

I'm interested in all of the cataract conversation. When I return home, the first thing I'm going to do (Monday) is take my almost 90 year old dad to get his cataract surgery. I know he's a bit worried - he keeps asking his neighbor about the surgery. I can't give him any insight because I've never had it - but will sometime in the future. My mom (deceased) had cataract surgery many years ago, but my dad can't remember any part of her care. That cracks me up because if she had drops to use in her eye, which I'm assuming she did, my dad would have had to help her because she didn't like doing anything for herself. My dad is pretty sharp - and my husband and I laugh about how clueless he is about Mom's surgery. We figure she probably just didn't follow the doctor's instructions which would have been so like her!

Have a great day everybody - I think we're going to go to Costco this morning, then lay out by the pool later. It's supposed to be in the 80's today - and raining by Friday. Better get it while we can.

Good morning,

Hello all.....

Day off from babysitting and wouldn't you know I still woke up at 7 and couldn't go back to sleep! Even stayed up watching a late movie, thinking I could sleep in. LOL

We're in the 30's today and could get a little snow. Looks like another nor'easter heading to Ohio. Looking like the worst of it will stay north of us tomorrow.

Got a couple of online orders placed for Christmas gifts and will work on cards today, so I'm getting there - slowly!

Have a great day everyone!

Annie, It was me that mentioned that Home Dept wouldn't my DH's old Military card for the 10%. He won't go back there anymore. We have Lowes and they are so good about it. All the women had to see was Ken's hat and asked if he had a military card...

I was just told in Oct I believe that I need cataract surgery soon. I am seeing this halo around everything. Our dr asked me if I drove much and I told her that Ken does all of the driving tho..So, I am waiting a bit yet. Ken goes now next week for his 6 month checkup and we will see what she says about his cataracts....

It seems like I am doing a lot of aching this week. I haven't been doing a lot and that might be why. We got some of our shopping done on Mon and will do on Fri when Ken has to go to his "man" dr LOL....We will get our 6 month blood work done than too...

I have a question. I receive group mail and when I check group it states I am not a member. I joined more than once and confused. Why am I receiving group mail if I have not joined and not a member?

Darlene,

I can't comment on before and after surgery since I have not had it yet. My vision seems to fluctuate every 6 months. When I had eye check last Dec, my doc said I needed cataract surgery. In June she said I probably would not need surgery for several years. I had a terrible time seeing yesterday because I took cholesterol medication the night before. No problem with vision today. Could your vision problem be from medication? My past eye doctor told me my fluctuation in vision was due to cholesterol medication. Insurance only pays for surgery when you can not pass DMV vision test. I passed eye test with glass.

I think you should be aware that if you have cataract surgery too early, you may need another surgery later in life. That is what happened to several of my elderly friends.

Good luck.

Go for it Jim. You only live once and might as well enjoy the season.

Welcome Rmahan8! (what would you like us to call you?) You've got the idea, just jump in and get acquainted!

Darlene, I have to get an eye exam soon - way past due. I have cataracts, too. The one in my left eye is more advanced than the right. See what the eye doctor thinks when I see him again. He suggested removal last time, but said it wasn't a necessity. I think I'm chicken. LOL

Annie, that sounded like some really wicked weather to be driving in!

Jim, be waiting to hear what you decided to do!

Christmas is here again - should be the last year I have to be the hostess for all the holidays and parties. Not sure what the family will do when we're in an apartment! LOL

I got my Christmas card labels done and printed today and ordered the stamps from the post office, so can say I did accomplish "something".
