Adin and I finished making cookies. He and Jared were out plowing the driveway before and Adin plowed the whole driveway until he got to the top. Then he said ok Uncle Jared you can do it now. Neither one of them had gloves on and their hands were freezing.

I made macaroni and cheese for supper and oatmeal for Adin and I. I just started making the cooked oatmeal and I really like it.

Just like everyone else I am up and around getting stuff ready for Thanksgiving. Making pies later today, getting all the stuff cut up for stuffing so it goes quick in the morning, also getting potatoes peeled, squash ready, and started the giblets simmering. I need to deal with loose ends like getting the 22 quarts of chilled apple sauce in bags and in the freezer, and there are 8 or 9 quarts of turkey broth to can. For some totally unknown reason I started organizing my plastic containers this morning, it is much better now with containers without covers, and covers without containers all discarded, but today wasn't really the time to do it lol.
We might get snow tonight, I hope it doesn't get up this far, they were talking about 11", we just got rid of the white stuff from a couple of weeks ago.
Have a good day everyone, get lots done!

Up early to brine the turky and later I will make stuffing and start on gravy. Made one dash to the store. Panic shopping at publix has started.

Joyce, It sounds like you have everything under control at your house. That sounds like one house full for you. I don't think I have ever sat down at a table for 15..

We have always like eating at the Texas Roadhouse. I didn't know tho that they have sweet potatoes..Will have to have that the next time we are there.

Ken & I did get our hearing aids yesterday. Oh my, I am not sure if I like hearing all of these sounds I had not heard in so long. Even hearing the keys on the keyboard here makes a difference. I am going to have to have mine adjusted every ten days until she sees where I am more comfortable with them. She said my hearing is very sensitive. I have more power than Ken and wow how would have thought that my hearing would have been worse than his with him being a mechanic all of his life....I still think my hearing loss is due to this one pain med called Pamalor I took years ago for my leg...

Up early, trying to get everything done on the computer before I start my day's work. Making pies first thing and then cleaning house and make the salads later. They both need to set overnight. Actually that's a good thing - makes it easier for tomorrow to already have them done!

Hope everyone has a good "day before" - check back later.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

We invited the 2 brothers who are neighbors over for dinner.....I am going to make
my pies tomorrow after we run a couple errands in town....I am going to the health
food store and get another bottle of the Amish cramp remedy and a bag of their
gluten free oatmeal which are amazingly good....

The rest of the menu will be easy to whip up...and I told them to eat breakfast and
we would eat about 2 or 3 and I suppose they will pull up a chair and the men will
watch tv and yap while I put the touches on dinner.

Congrats on the loss Peggy - that's great. Well, you're back in your element, Adin there for a sleepover! Love it!

Trudy, you just keep that bucket list going - for sure!! Enjoy your Thanksgiving! We have 15 coming, maybe more - not sure yet about one GD.

We had a nice dinner at Texas Roadhouse tonight with Andy's brother and his wife. A late anniversary celebration for them. Not good timing with weigh in tomorrow, but I didn't have my usual margarita and I just had a small steak, sweet potato and green beans, so hoping I'll be OK.

Annie, you must be exhausted after those drives! Hope you don't have any coming up too soon!

Peggy, this time Brenda, Jim, Andrea, Aiyden and Austin's girlfriend are going with us. This is one of the times we have a "bring a friend free" for Dollywood and I'd bought half price tickets for the Smoky Mt. Christmas show when we were there in August, so it's a relatively inexpensive trip. Brenda and Jim haven't gone for 4 years, so she's excited to see all the Christmas shows again.

Jim we used to have German Shepherds. Love that breed! Now we have a Yorkie - she doesn't shed either. She's 14 though, so not sure how much longer we'll have her. :-(

I quit smoking in 1975 and my hubby quit about 10 years ago I think. It's funny how sensitive to smoke you are after you quit. You can smell it on people's clothes.

My SIL has boxers and I have to tell you, I can sure smell them in his house! LOL

Gwyn, good job on the weight loss!

Got up early for Aiyden, but he was still sleeping so I laid on the bed in his room. Didn't do much good. He slept another hour or more, but I couldn't get my mind to shut up - ever have that problem?? LOL Need to get busy cleaning. We're meeting Andy's brother and his wife at Texas Roadhouse tonight to celebrate their anniversary and his and my birthdays - a little late. Been trying to coordinate a date for weeks! Sure didn't want it Thanksgiving week, but is what it is. Have to make sensible choices!

Good morning everyone. Weather is moving in with a day and night of thunderstorms as we send it up to the north. Sorry about that. Maybe I should go ahead and get the last of the shopping donethis morning.

We have two lhasa apsa dogs and the nice thing about them is they do not shed at all. Previously we had german shepherds and springer spaniels. Now those breeds coulf fill up a vavumn cleaner bag every day.

My wife was a smoker, but always did it outside on the porch. When she quit abou ten years ago she commented how terrible she must have smelled coming to bed after that last smoke before bedtime.

Everyone be carecul if travelling. No visits to the er this week. Have a good day on your loss journey.

Peggy, My DH was smoking when I met him so I didn't realize the smell of smoke at that time. But when Ken quite smoking 13 years ago now and we even walk by someone who is smoking..Oh my God the smell is terrible LOL...

I would be like you too and had to come home and take off all of my clothes and hop in the shower. I am that way now with our DD & DGD dogs. When we go there for Thanksgiving, I will have to come home and take off my clothes that I wore over there. I guess I must not be able to handle the dog hair anymore....

Annie, Our DD lives 350 miles away and boy that is one long trip for us to do anymore. I think the only reason we will make the trip anymore is for emergencies only....

Got the shopping done for Thanksgiving today - goodness I hate that chore anymore! Store was crowded, lots of Amish there today.

The wind was strong all day - lots of trees down when we went to town. Our cable and internet were out when we got back. We were over 60 today, tomorrow high will be 38.

checking in late today. I went to the Archives and then my friend picked me up and we went across the river to visit a friend we went to high school with. The only problem was we walked into her house and I almost gagged because the smell of cigarettes was so strong. She didn't smoke in the room with s but kept going to the kitchen to smoke.

On the ride home I just wanted to stick my head out the window. I had to take off all my clothes, even my underwear. I washed my hair and washed up.

Oh well guess I won't be visiting there again.

Tomorrow I am going to WW's with my sister

Wow is it warm here this morning and very breezy - feels like spring. Until tomorrow! Back to freezing then. That's Ohio for you!

Austins's girlfriend is in the hospital with pneumonia, poor thing! Hope she recovers quickly, she's supposed to go to TN with us when we go.

Hope everyone has a good day.......be back later. Have to hit the store for the TG supplies at some point today. Ugh!

Joyce, One of the reasons we started putting a Christmas tree on our front porch is so that our DD could see it on her way home from work as she drove past our house. She used to have to stop in when we took care of our two grandkids. Now that they are 26 & 28, you got it, no more stopping in. She has just always been that way. Even when our son our her two sisters come to visit too. The poor white tree has taken it's toll and no reason to have to get another one anyway....

It is 46 here this morning and they are calling for snow later today and into the AM. Of course right when everyone is coming home from work and than going to work.

I love feeding the hummingbirds, they nest in a row of spruce trees, and bring out the babies twice a summer. They left kind of late this summer, there were still some here in late October, usually it is early September, they get here in May. I found several nests last fall after they left, so tiny! I have had to rescue several tiny hummingbirds from the barn spiders webs, one tiny male a couple of years ago was just covered with the sticky webs, took quite a while to pick them all off, and it was dark by then so I put him in a cage with a dish of sugar water. The next morning I took him out to let go and he couldn't fly, he roosted all night with his tail in the sugar water and it was all stuck together, so I had to wash it off. I was amazed at how trusting he was, he perched on my finger and sucked sugar water from a disto pipette, when I took him outside he sat on my finger for a while before flying off to join a female in a maple tree.

We got here at about1:45 and Jodi, Dave and Adin were already here. We had a great visit. Adin will be back on Tuesday to sleep over until Thursday.

After they left I went to visit my girlfriend Kathy for coffee.

Then I came back and finished putting things away. Tomorrow it's another crazy day. I go to the Archives, come home and Jerry drops me off at a local diner where my friend picks me up and we hop on the parkway and go across the river for a luncheon with a group of girls we went to high school with. Should be a fun day.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend

you can google or yahoo Amish leg cramp and it will show a bottle with leg and foot
cramp on it, old Amish remedy.....

I know for some reason it works. I looked to their website to find out if I could buy it
locally and it turned out a local store which carries vitamins, organic and gluten free items
carried it....so I bought it and tried it.....so far I have caught the cramps early on and it has
worked. Last night was the first time I ever had them and not in bed...was sitting in my chair.

I mix up a dose and keep it beside the bed....changing it out every couple of days to keep it
fresh.

I had one in my right thigh 4 months ago and still have a knot in my leg where it twisted
the muscle...and is still tender..

I take magnesium amongst my vitamins and still get the charley horses and also eat a
banana daily....still have them.

emoticon everyone for the anniversary wishes !!
I have been missing,, 2 reasons,, FIRST one,, we were w/out internet.. I thought it was due to the 70+ mph winds,, but it never came back on,, I had called the internet co when our DD and GD were coming and she asked for a password, so I have her one,(( I guess I CHANGED it , in telling her something else,)) so LONG story for it was ME.. my GD figured it all out,, and
today we have internet !!
and
DH and I took our anniversary trip.. after DD and GD made us a surf/turf dinner..OH my ,, and the trip was SO fun..
They announced over the intercalm about our being married 45 yrs.. then at the comedy club we went to 2 of the performers made jokes about HOW long we were married..lol

anyway,, now off to read posts.. DH and I don't ever want to be w/out internet.. so I will STAY away from the teck stuff for EVER !! lol

Jim, we love the hummingbirds here, too. We enjoy watching the other birds at the feeder and we also have a hawk that likes to sit in the chestnut tree and look for lunch. We have about the same thing with wildlife, although no armadillos and certainly no rattlers or moccasins thank God! That would totally freak me out! We get a snake every once in awhile but nothing poisonous! Whew! We get deer in our back field quite often, raccoons, possum, coyotes and of course rabbits.

Merri, we're cutting back each year on the outdoor decorations. Even the indoor. With the GC all grown up and Aiyden too young to think much about it, just a lot of work. We're on a back road, way off the road, so no point to doing too much.

Good morning everyone. Here in northeast Florida we had severe thunderstorms during the night. Loud enough to wake me. Checked to see if any pecan tree limbs fell. The weather change brought warmer temps into the 70's with a cool down beginning tomorrow.

I'm on the edge of a small residential area next to a strip of woods and creek. We get the normal suburban wildlife, possums, raccoons and armadillas. Also harris hawks and owls. I have two bird feeders I like to watch and the hawk sure has looked foolish at times. I did see it fly by with a snake in his talons once. Wish he woul have gotten the pygmy rattlesnake I found this spring under a trascan lid. Just last week a moccasin fell out of the shrubbery on my feet as I was trimming the tops.

Our hummingbird feeders are inside for winter. They usually leave in late september and return in may. They are so friendly and trusting.

I envy you having the farm garden. I am restarting my raised beds after several years of people stealing from it I quit gardening.

Okay time to go. Have a good sunday.
Jim

It is warming up already today, above freezing now :). The electricity blinked several times last night, everytime I woke up the clock was blinking and back to 12. I really need to replace that alarm, it is supposed to have a battery backup, but it doesn't work and our electricity blinks a lot, I don't like to leave waking up to go to work at a chance.
I got a lot done yesterday, Charlies pen is all cleaned out, just finished at dark with the help of a neighbor that arrived when I was half done! Only two more pens to go! I finally had to put the kitten Calliope in her cage for a while, she gets under the wheelbarrow and I was afraid she would get hurt. Last night when I was doing chores she was over playing with the feral kitten, and he didn't run when he saw me, maybe there is hope for him after all.
I got my bins all fixed in the cellar way, and put away onions, potatoes and carrots, and then took a bunch of stuff downstairs to the root cellar, the two baskets of squash, a pail of carrots and 4 bags of potatoes for my brother when he comes at Christmas. I also got some stuff rearranged in the cellar way and started putting together the wire baskets that are going on the door. I need to get the non-food stuff out of the way, I will finish that today.

Today's big project is to work in the garage, get the bush hog off the tractor and put away, and everything else it its place for winter. I just noticed last night that the frozen humming bird feeders are still out!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Rain but warm yet here today. It is 50 right now. So, hamburgers on the grill for us here today....

We have decided not to put any Christmas decorations out anymore. It just gets to be too much for both of us. We only have a small block here and two complexes across the street and one neighbor on both sides of us and none of them decorate outside either..

So, we went and got this 40" fence now by the side of our shrubs in the back yard. We seen this darn hawk trying to get out birds and bunny. It was just dancing around on the ground waiting for one fat bird...Boy, they know to stay still and wait for us to get out there and yell at it. There really isn't much more you can do to those darn hawks either..I have been known to throw an apple at them LOL..

Ken get those darn Charlie horses too. You can just feel the knot in his leg and we try and rub it out...I heard from a friend that tonic water is suppose to help some. We usually use this horse liniment on Ken's legs.

Good Morning all.....

Rainy day here, too.

Darlene, what is the Amish recipe for charlie horses??? I grew up in Amish country in Geauga County, OH. I know those are sure painful when they hit.

Safe travels Peggy.

Be back later.....another babysitting day.

Good early morning ....

We got our washer/dryer from Lowes...has been good....I am diligent about keeping it
clean with the stuff they recommend to clean internally though.

Jim the recipe sounds good...might have to look that one up.

It is thundering here in Alabama, we are expected to get some rain/thunderstorms later
this morning....I couldn't sleep(210 AM) so got up to check mail....makes for a long day
when I am awake like this but it happens and the more upset I get about it just makes it
worse.

I also had a new experience last night, usually when I get charley horses they wait until
I am in bed...but they have now hit when I am sitting...I went dashing to the kitchen and
mixed the Amish cramp recipe formula and it took care of the right then had the left one
hit(haven't had both legs at once)so took another dose and so far so good. it is supposed
to work for 24 hours.

Well hopefully off to sleep again. night all.....

My exercise today was chasing after my GGS from 8 AM till about 10 PM. His mother worked all day and then had a jewelry show tonight - she sells jewelry on the home party plan.

That recipe sounds good, I'll have to check that out!

Everyone get a good rest tonight - catchya tomorrow.

Well I finally got my treadmill walk in. Halftime of some boring football games so I got busy. Tonight for dinner we had leftover casserole from yesterday, the Healthy Chicken Pasta from the recipe area. Broccoli and zucchini are the main vegetables mixed in. Time to get some and relax.

We're in Staunton VA

we had a great ride today I slept thru the last hour or so. We got here early so we went to the Mall across the highway and walked around. We saw Santa and he waved to us no kids around.

After lunch we took a walk over to Tractor Supply and got Adin a pickup truck in John Deere green.

Now we're hunkered in. I am really quite the trend setter. I have my pajama bottoms, long sleeve shirt and a scarf around my neck. Oh yeah I have my slippers on too.

Congratulations Roz and welcome to Jim

Good afternoon to all of my Sparkler friends once again:

It is a balmy 45 here right now. It is one yucky day but at least NO snow at all...I can take the rain.

Joyce, We have both Maytags here. We got them almost 15 years ago from Best Buy. I do believe that we had to have a pump put on once and a belt. But it was under warranty. So, it had to be very early after having both of them. I never overload by washer and am very careful with both of them.

Rick felt very special that I even let him use them all by himself LOL. He is very careful tho too..So no problem. I would rather use more water than normal and safe my machines...

Hi everyone.....

Late getting on the computer today. Andy had to go to the union hall to get his free turkey this morning and Andrea was at the salon, so I had Aiyden to myself and he's a full time job!! Can't look way from him at all! LOL

We had freezing rain here this morning, was not nice for awhile. Andy waited as long as he could to go in to Cleveland. He said they were OK when he went.

Austin and a couple of his buddies were here last night working on the venison some more. He was grinding the leftover pieces and then had some he sliced up for jerky. So I was in the kitchen at midnight making burgers and fries for them. They were all gone when I got up. I think Austin had fire duty in Hiram. He's working two fire departments as well as riding with the Community Ambulance Service when he can.

Jim, I have 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. One granddaughter, Andrea, and our great grandson Aidyen live with us, so he keeps me hopping! He's 19 months old.

It is so cold I am having a hard time getting started this morning! I am thinking longingly of a nice warm bed. Guess I need to go brave the cold regardless, winter is going to be long at this rate.

Have been busy for a while ,I have come to the realisation that as I get older I can only do one major project a day. Before, I could do so much more before I needed to rest, so when ir's house cleaning I do just that as a main project, have a rest and do minor ones later.I find that once I start early in the morning I'm really energised, even more so if it's after my exercis ing session. How many of you also have this experience?

Our younger daughter and her husband made me a grandmother for the third time yesterday,Older daughter has two girls , so now I'm grandmom to 3 beautiful little girls.
We are all so happy and thanking God for the safe delivery. She had C/S and will be at my home for a couple weeks until they get the hang of it.Thank God for my nursing/ midwifery experience.I'm so excited!

Hope everyone has a blessed & warm night,
Stay blessed!
Roz.

I am kind of half muzzy asleep, got home later then usual for a last night of work, lots of errands. I stopped at Sears to look at front loader washers and dryers, I really like the LG pair and it is on clearance sale. They had a Kenmore on sale but the reviews were really bad, and a person at work said she got that one a couple of years ago and it was nothing but trouble, she doesn't even use it anymore, pulled out her old one instead. Decisions decisions, my mind is too scrambled to deal with it today! I am going to check home depot also.

It is so cold, way cold for this time of year, snowed again last night, but we are supposed to warm up the beginning of the week. The cows were being stubborn last night when I was doing chores and wouldn't come down to the barn before I left for work, I ended up leaving them out because I ran out of time, which was probably what they wanted! Guess it is not so cold when you are a 2500 lb Angus cow! I just like to have them in for the night!

Mary Ann, That prime rib made my mouth water, sounded so good! That was nice to have dinner with your Dad!

Peggy, Glad your first day went fine, hope it continues, what a long trip!

Joyce, That is great that Andrea's anemia is coming around with the iron pills, hope she gets the nose bleed thing under control!

Hope everyone's weekend is starting great!

So happy to see you posting again Mary Anne! That dinner with your Dad sounded awesome!! We used to always go to Brenda's MIL's for Christmas Eve dinner with her hubby's family and it was always a prime rib dinner. YUM! Unfortunately she is in a nursing home now and that tradition has ended, but it was a good time to share with them for those years.

We're a bit warmer today and supposed to get into the 50's over the weekend I think. I worry about those people in Buffalo when it warm up, the weight of the snow will be even heavier on roofs, etc., and then the flooding. Poor people will never forget this winter!!

Thought I'd say a quick hello before I'm off and running. The facility where my folks are living did a "thank you" dinner for residents and family. Dad and I went but did not take mom since she needs to be fed the all the people would have been too much stimulation. Dad and I were very impressed and had a wonderful time and the food was fantastic. We both ordered the prime rib which I haven't had in years - so tender and juicy and the rub was mouth watering. This was there Thanksgiving give to everyone and it was done very nicely.

Got up to 24 this morning and nice and sunny with the wind still hanging in there. Not sure if I'll be able to get the rest of the leaves up before real winter sets in and they're still coming down.

emoticon Annie. Hope you had a great day.

Merri, I'm still laughing at your story and Annie's was funny also.

Barb, have you been hit with much of the snow that Maine got. My friend that lives in Levant had sent my some pictures on fb of their snow.

Joyce, sorry to hear Aiyden is dealing with a cold but glad to hear that things have improved for Andrea. That has to be a relief.

Steph, I still haven't tried the juicing but I love doing the smoothies with yogurt, blueberries and strawberries and a little protein powder. It's my treat for the day.

Safe travels, Peggy and hope you have nothing but great weather.

Have a great day everyone!!! emoticon

Good Morning!!

Merri, it's 24 here and we have some sunshine. A few inches of snow overnight, but nothing major!

Hi Gwyn!

Peggy, what time are you leaving? Safe travels.

Andrea's appt. went well. He said her blood levels were fine except for a protein level that was high for her age. Apparently the iron pills did their job with the anemia. He wants her to see an ENT about her nosebleeds since they're not related to anemia. Thinks it may have been an injury when they did her wisdom teeth. She has an appt with the ENT on Monday.

Good morning Sparkler friends:

It is only 6 here this morning. We are suppose to have a heat wave this weekend. Of course the snow will melt and the rain is on it's way. They are calling for sleet in the morning. At least most everyone will be home on a Sat morning...

We have decided this year not to put any decorations outside. It just gets harder and harder each year. Our once beautiful white artificial tree is now getting yucky looking and the lights are getting old...

OMG Merri, that is the funniest story ever! Well, I'm sure it wasn't funny for you or Ken, but OH MY! I've come close to getting into the wrong car before, but that one takes the cake!

Been dealing with our cable company a couple of days. We lost some of the Encore channels and poor Andy was in withdrawal not having his Encore westerns! Did live chat sessions with the company and did all the trouble shooting, they reset the channel signals, etc. and nothing was working so they scheduled a tech to come out today. Wouldn't you know the cable went down last night for about fifteen minutes and when it came back on - the channels were back! LOL So I had to call and cancel the service appt. Of course this all happened AFTER Andy took the safety gates down around the entertainment center so they'd have access to the boxes. We have the gates up to keep Aiyden from pushing any buttons - he is fascinated with buttons!

Speaking of Aiyden, I guess he's got a cold. He was with his Dad yesterday, then stayed at Brenda's last night. Andrea came home to get his cough medicine. Sad thing is he has to go back to his Dad today - I hope he does OK with him. :-( Andrea has her follow up with the hematologist today. Praying there's nothing seriously wrong. Worried me a bit when they had her come back in for a second blood draw.

Well, Aiyden's new bedding came in for his twin beds. I washed the sheets and I'm going to go make up the beds.

Have a good day everyone.

Oh my, I almost forgot to tell you gals about our embarrassing situation yesterday coming out of the grocery store. It was all Ken's fault tho LOL.

As some of you might know that Ken had done some body work to our 99 van this summer. He put new rails on the bottom of both doors on the passenger side.

Well, It was so nice that Ken had parked right outside of the exit door and it was so cold out. Right away I heard a few not so nice words coming out of his mouth. He was stating that the rails that he had just fixed this summer were coming off with the cold weather. Or better yet, did I knock them lose getting out of the van.

He went over and gave the rail one good kick!! Than another kick and the darn rail wouldn't go back in place. He got the passenger door open and just started yelling at the darn rail....

WELL,It wasn't our van and you should have seen this man look at Ken when he not only kicked his van and now the man thought for sure he was yelling at him!!! LOL Oh my gosh, Ken could not apologize enough...The guy just sat there and said nothing. Boy, did we get out of there fast. It was the exact same van as ours and of course the same color...

Good morning, very cold and windy here today, burrr. Had to lug water to the horse shelter, sort of a long walk with a 5 gallon bucket and one arm with a pulled muscle. I can't seem to get that to heal up, seems like the littlest thing sets it off hurting again. I have work tonight so off to sleep I go, have a good day everyone!
