QOTD What is the weirdest or strangest thing that ever happened to you or around you.

I think the only thing I can think of right now is when I seen the lady next door stark naked in her back yard yelling at her live in boyfriend....The crazy mean neighbor LOL

QOTD I don't usually go "on vacation" very often, usually in July I go to Vinalhaven Island for a week visiting my husbands family, and sometimes a weekend at my younger brothers but that is the extent for the last few years. I enjoy staying home but when I am home I feel pressured to work at all the stuff that is not done, which is the reason I do go to Vinalhaven at least once a year, they let me sleep in, take me out to eat and let me cook all I want and clean up the dishes after me lol!

QOTD: No plans here to go anywhere. I go on vacation in about 3 weeks. Then i won't have another until late September. No one has a vacation at my job in the summer. That's our busiest time, so it's all hands on deck.

A beautiful day here in Maine. High teens and very sunny. It's so nice to have the sun out later and later in the day.

Lives in Central Maine, USA, just outside of Bangor, ME

You folks are a going bunch! I've got nothing on the calendar this year except the trek up north over the holidays to visit family and friends, much later in the year.

Ah, just saw on TMZ site that Leonard Nimoy died this morning from complications due to COPD. RIP Mr Spock

Good Morning all.....

Terry, I did see that horrible pileup on the news! A true miracle no one was killed. God surely was watching over them!

My GS leaves for FL around 10 today. Praying travel mercies for him. They're making three stops on the way for the lady who hired them to visit friends - won't be in FL till Monday. I believe he said Coral Beach was where they were headed. He'll fly home next Friday. His first flight, too.

Trudy, that storm is supposed to hit here Sun. afternoon into Monday. Hoping the wind direction changes a bit - Andrea and Jim have tickets to take Aiyden to see Jake and the Neverland Pirates stage show. I don't know what time the performance is or whether it's in Cleveland or Warren, but doesn't sound like a good day to be on the roads. :-(

Sunshine and blue skies here this morning, but only 7 degrees. Somehow sunshine makes it all OK.

QOTD: We're going to TN in May with Andy's son and his girlfriend, Andrea, Aiyden and Austin's girlfriend Sam. In July we're going to Myrtle Beach for a week to DDs time share and then in Nov. we have rented a cabin near Dollywood for my 75th birthday! We've always wanted to try a cabin, so Jim/Brenda found a nice 10 person cabin with a hot tub, game room, etc.

Good morning, we have beautiful sunshine this morning. It's -1 and not suppose to get higher than 16. Spring IS coming!! emoticon
QOTD: I went to FL last week for 4 days. BUT....in April I'm going to visit my sister in Adelaide, South Australia!!! I'm looking forward to that so much!! emoticon
I'm not going to the Y today. My right arm hurts really bad, I have a Dr. appt. Monday so, I'll talk to him about it. Who knows....maybe it won't hurt by then!!
I hope everyone in the path of these latest storms stay safe. We's suppose to get 3-6 inches of snow on Sunday.....then rain on Tuesday.....crazy transition to spring....but, I'll take it IF spring comes!! LOL!
Everyone have a great day and weekend!

QOTD Does anyone have any vacation plans: So far nothing planed for us here. We really don't travel very well and if we do, it is to our childhood city, Marquette, MI where we both were raised....

We used to go to Omaha, NE when Rick was stationed in the Air Force there...

We have -7 here right now. It is going to be sunny tho. We had to shovel about 4" of snow yesterday. It was nice light snow tho..

Terry, I did on the national news about the big pike up of cars by your house. Oh my, what a scary time that had to be for so many drivers. I bet some had to wait in cars for hours before they could even clean a clean path for the cars to get through there...

Good morning all. -1 degree here this morning. But no snow for at least the next few days. Not sure how many of you saw on the national news the 75 car pile up in I-95 here in Maine. That was only about 5 miles from my house. It's the entrance/exit we take when traveling the interstate. Thank God no one was killed.

QOTD: Since a child I've lived in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, Hampden, Maine, and now Hermon, Maine. They are all with 45 miles of each other and Hampden and Hermon are next door to each other. Not very nomadic.

Hydrate: count each glass of water
Touch Base: with teammates
Strength: Build muscles 15 mins each day

oh my I feel like we are moving in here,, I have got things done /// stuff out of boxes that have set in bedrooms since we moved here..LOL... and DH has worked in his shop/garage now and has a WALL up/ and a cabinet.. this is WAY to LOL

Hi everyone....

I was about to come looking for you Merri - not like you to miss a day.

Snow here, but not bad. I see the VA - SC area is really getting hit hard. 6" in Virginia Beach. Hope it's cleared out before GS heads south tomorrow.

Trudy, time flies by, that's for sure! I remember your GS was still nursing when I met you! Can't believe Aiyden is going to be 2 in a couple weeks. Whew! But then my eldest GD is going to be 26! Yikes!

Austin was on EMT calls last night - he loves that work. I think he intends to become a paramedic in the future.

QOTD: I've only lived in Ohio. We keep talking about moving south, now my daughter is starting to talk about finding a duplex in NC and all of us moving. LOL She said if they found something half way between their time shares in Myrtle Beach and the Smoky Mts., it would only three hours to either. Sounds tempting. I've only lived in four different towns, I'm not big on moving. Grew up in one town, left there when I got married the first time and moved to a farm in Hiram. Lived there 32 years, then went to the apartments in Garrettsville until Andy and I bought this place and we've been here 20 years.

Hope you all have a great day........

QOTD Have you lived in more than one state? or town?

It would be too long to go into it all, my Dad worked as a trouble shooter for Agway, and GLF which was what Agway was called years ago, and we moved and moved and moved. After I left home I moved only 3 times all in Maine and have been here on the farm 22 years. I have lived in Iowa, New Jersey, New York, MA, Conn, and PA in various towns. Sometimes we would move back to a state in a different town, but it was 18 times before I left home. My Dad was from Maine so that is where we started and ended.

Looks nice outside, but it is cold, the wind gets ya! I am off to get stuff done, work tonight!

I lived in the same county until I was 45 and moved to Florida. Everyone was surprised when we moved but Jerry got a job transfer to Florida. We kept our house in NY because we were going to move back in 5 years when Jerry retired. That was 26 years ago.

Glad you're feeling better Terry. That's an awful feeling - I've had head spins a few time for no reason, thinking it might have been my inner ear - I took Benadryl and it would clear up. But never had vertigo and agree, not something I want.

QOTD: Our house (is a very very very fine house) Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

6 more inches of snow today. Then around lunchtime someone flipped the swith and withing minutes of the snow stopping, we had blue sky. At least it was in the 20's and no wind. It actually felt quite nice.

My vertigo is almost gone. I think by tomorrow I'll be good as new. Never had it and wouldn't wish it on anybody.

Everybody have a good day.

you remind me of my Mother Joyce. If she didn't have someone to worry about she went looking for someone.

You just have lots of love to share.

I'm working on another spark friends family tree and having a great time.

LOL Annie - maybe you should have invited the friends earlier. Sounds like a fun time! I've been putzing around clearing things out, pitching stuff I know we won't need to take with us, etc. Slow process, but we're not in any big rush yet.

I worry about GS making that drive to NY tomorrow and then FL on Friday - they're expecting another heavy snow in the south today I think. I don't think I'd know how to behave if I didn't have something to worry about. emoticon

Good Morning....

17 degrees here and falling instead of rising and snowing again. Geez! Our driveway is a mess. A gas company meter reader came down it yesterday and went off the edge and really got buried. She called another truck to come pull her out. We weren't even the right driveway!! Then last night the neighbor kid came in to give Austin a ride home and HE went into that same huge rut. Going to have the neighbor plow the drive down today - there's just too many ruts and stuff, the snowblower can't clean it out good enough. Grrrr. Should send the bill to that gas company, but I don't even know who it was.

QOTD: Our wedding song was I Swear by John Michael Montgomery. I love the music from Grease and Dirty Dancing.

Joyce, there is ALWAYS hope. I'm glad JJ has stepped up. Maybe he's growing up. Is he still going to nursing school? God has a way of taking care of each of us. I know we can all count on Him. So, the fb thing you saw today was perfect for you today and just be at ease, things do have a way of working out exactly the way they're suppose to!! Hugs my friend.

Trudy, bless your heart for helping with the animals! And thank you for understanding about Andrea, we're hoping things will be good eventually. Saw a pic on FB today and it really hit home. Pic of an infant that said "Not a mistake, not a problem, not a burden, not an inconvenience, not a nuisance, not an accident, not a punishment, a MIRACLE." Just what I needed to see. She was using the birth control patch - it failed. It was with the Marine we all thought was such a great guy - he bailed on her. To JJ's credit, he has stepped up to the plate and is being very supportive. He's been in therapy and on anxiety meds and seems to be doing so much better - so we are cautiously hopeful.

Hi again,
It's just plain FRIGID out today!! I had to go to the lab and decided to run a couple errands....
I was so cold I just came home. I need to go to water aerobics this afternoon. At least the sun is shining!
Joyce, I know what you mean about not the best situation with Andrea, but, I know he/she will be very loved. I just hope, for Andrea, that she can find a way to support her young family.
You asked about my son and dil's animals. They have a cat named Otis. He's a big, beautiful gray and white cat. Very laid back. They also have a 5 year old dachshund who is crippled. She's a very long dog and her back was injured and she's paralized from about half way down her spine to her back feet. She has a little wheel chair she gets around in. She doesn't seem to mind the injury. The main thing is having to help her go to the bathroom.
But, they're great animals and I don't mind helping out so the kids can travel.
I fixed a meat loaf for supper. I've been hungry for one and since I'll have some company it's a good day to fix it....plus...I can have the oven on!!
Take care everyone!!

Qotd. Moving around in a navy family really disrupted my early childhood and making best friends, later I lost three good friends to the drug culture and I basically found one that helped me through some bad years before I finally settled down.

Our weather is warming every day, meaning the low is getting higher and the ground is warming up for gardening. I am mowing today to add something to my compost drum.

Never quit dreaming.

Qotd, I guess I didn't really have best friends when I was a child, other then my brother, it is hard to make friends every 6 months to 3 years, we moved 18 times before I left home in college.
I can't remember a scary time, not sure why, but I remember some of my happiest times were out in the woods riding my horse, so I was kind of a loner even then.

It is very cold today, -20 earlier when I got up and -15 right now. I was making a cake for my mothers 87th birthday yesterday and my cold water in the kitchen froze, the wind was blowing 15 to 20 mph with the cold, kind of tired of frozen water! Seems like a bad joke to have Sunday be so nice and then go back into this. I need to go out and plow better, I just did enough to get the car out because it is kind of cold on an open tractor with that wind no matter how you are dressed, but it is going to have to be warmer then this!

The cake I made was from Eating Well, they have such good recipes, it was a Sunny Citrus Chiffon cake, with lemon, lime and orange, if you like non-chocolate type cakes I would recommend this one, and the plus is only 285 calories for 1/12 cake which is a good sized portion in a cake this tall. Sounds like an add, but this is the link: www.eatingwell.com/recipes/sunny_cit

Morning All, VERY cold here! This morning was -8 !

QOTD: I did have a BF all thru elementary, middle and into high school - then in 11th grade we had a BIG fight (over a boy) and stopped talking. Have not reconnected with her - but it is sad that a friendship that long could be thrown away so fast ...... perhaps it just wasn't as strong as I thought.

Can't imagine having 19 grandbabies - how blessed you are!

So, we had some really nice talks on our way...One of the friends is still my best friend yet today. We now keep in contact on Facebook....

Good Morning All....

Annie and Trudy, thanks for the congratulations! Not the best of circumstances for Andrea, but I am concentrating on that precious little life and know it will all work out. Things are SO different these days in so many ways!

I do miss the "good old, simpler days!!"

Peggy, you've done a great job with QOTD! I did have a best friend in school. She was always a different personality though. She could get mad at the drop of a hat and not talk for weeks. Actually got to be a joke. We lost touch for a lot of years and then reconnected about ten years ago I think. She's in AZ now. We emailed daily, she visited here a couple of times, we met in Branson, almost again when we went to Vegas but that didn't work out. In Sept. I got an email saying she was busy getting ready to move and her computer was giving her trouble and she had to set her priorities. Haven't heard from her since except a Christmas card! LOL But that's the way she is and she'll surface again one day. She has a sister and niece she doesn't talk to, is on the outs with her granddaughter, her son and DIL moved to WA to get away from her. Like I said, she's a "different" personality. LOL

A little bit warmer today - a whopping 3 degrees. A lot of schools closed again. Many in our county but ours just did a two hour delay. The one my daughter drives for is open today.

Good morning, we've hit a record setting low of -12 this morning. It's sunny and clear. I need to go out later to get blood drawn for a Dr. appt. next week....I think I'll wait awhile!!
QOTD: I had a best friend through my childhood and until I was in college. We lost track of each other for a few years and reconnected after we both had children. Se passed away in 1994. Her sister and brother are still in my life.
Congratulations on the impending arrival of 3 more great grand children Joyce!! Your family tree is growing new branches!!
Annie, you're STILL right that kids enjoy time with grandparents as much if not MORE than a constant stream of gifts.
I hope you all have a good day.

I'm really enjoying the answers to the QOTD too. We really did grow up in a great time.

Good thing it's nearing the end of the month because I am running out of questions.

QOTD
Did you grow up with a "best friend"? are you still in touch with them? if not maybe you could find them or one of their siblings if they have died and maybe get in touch.

Good morning all. I went to the doctor yesterday with what I thought would be an inner ear infection and found out I have vertigo. Can't drive, so no work. emoticon Dr. did some manipulating of my head yesterday and she said to sleep sitting up last night. Sadly it hasn't helped. Start PT today to see if I can get my balance back.

I will say my prayers for Jared. Also prayers to all who are going through your own personal struggles.

I've missed a couple of QOTD: Don't laugh, but my scariest moments that I can remember is having to walk under or around those grey barn spiders when it was my turn to carry water to the beef critters we raised.

My happiest memory was going for a Sunday ride with my then 2 brothers and mom and dad. Dad would get each of us a Payday candy bar. What a great joy it was.

OH CONGRATULATIONS on the official news !! # 19 !! You are so blessed with all these precious little ones coming into your life !!

I love the answers to the QOTD,, seems like we all grew up in more simple times, and we all appreciated the happy things that came to us,, in a time or a gift,, but we were ALL happy to have the love that came with whatever came to us..

some different than now when if they don't get the RIGHT XBOX or the RIGHT smart phone, ect.. I told a friend who was buying her GS everything in site,, that he would enjoy a time of her taking him to the park, or for an ice cream cone,, she did that one day and he said it was his fav. time w/his GM ever.. he is now 26 yrs old,, and STILL remembers the day when he was 5 that she and I took him to Target on Black Fri and he got a free max box car and free basketball for being the first 100 customers.(( at 4 AM.))

QOTD: A very happy memory from childhood is visiting my great grandparents. They farmed and lived about an hour north of us. My mom and sisters and I would take a train so dad could have some peace and quiet and then dad would come on the weekend and pick us up.
Not much on the docket tomorrow. My son is coming with their animals for me to watch for a week.
A couple of dr. appts. and I want to get back to the Y. I hate missing over a week.
Have a nice evening everyone.

Bonnie - I guess Dad really got your attention with that one! LOL

Hi Barb and welcome to the chat thread! Indeed your grandbaby is ADORABLE! I can imagine how excited you were to get that Barbie doll! How bad has your winter been there?

Scary moment: Dad and I would take walks on Sundays. One time we went to a play ground and I played on the swings. It was time to go home but I didn't want to leave. I looked up and I was all alone, Dad had gone. Finally he came back for me and after that when he said it was time to go I left with him.

Hi, OK my first post to this. So, a little about me - I moved back to NJ after living in Florida for 30 years....I know, I went backwards! Born & raised in Trenton - so now I'm back, but not to Trenton - I'm now in the NW corner of the state, or as I refer to it 'The Yukon'. Have 1 daughter and 1 darling grandson (see picture). Also have a great guy that I'll be sharing the rest of my life with - so I need to make it a long life because we have lots to catch up on!

Now for the QOTD: The Christmas I received my Barbie Doll - my birthday is in October and I had asked for a Barbie, but was told that there wasn't enough money. So I didn't even ask when Christmas rolled around.....which made it even better because it was a TOTAL surprise!

QOTD Let's get off scary and go to happy. What is your favorite, happy moment from your childhood

my parents were farmers , so we didn't get much,on gifts,, the money had to go back into the farm to keep it going,
BUT
on our birthdays our Mom tried to save her selling eggs $$ and make our birthday special.. and my HAPPY TIME was she invited the kids in my first grade class and made all sorts of special "kids" food.. and I got to open presents,, and in the mail , my GM sent dimes taped to a card,, and I got to spend the dimes, 50cents any way I wanted.. OH MY presents and 5 dimes !!

I hope you are right Jim, that cold stuff was making me crazy. And to think I once put in for active duty in Alaska! That would have been a mistake. It would have tuned out to be yet another saga like The Shining only I would be the one with the axe saying "here's Johnny."

I'm planning on going to the midwest for Thanksgiving this year. Hopefully the weather will just be on the chilly side and not brutally cold. My cousin drives from Phoenix to Spokane doing family business 2 to 3 times each year which I thought was not that bad of a trek. Turns out she has to go 500 miles more each way than I do when I go back for family things. My trek is way easier.

Well, I'm still alive, so there's thatů..

Well I believe we have passed the winter time when our daily temps start staying higher and the lows get higher also. Will plant seed potatos this week.

Qotd. One memorable holiday we each received a new bike. This was a major purchase at that time for us.

Never quit dreaming.

Hi all....

Hope your back isn't sore today Barb!

It's -8 here, but sunny. I guess wind chill was -20 and a lot of schools closed again.

Enjoy Bagel King Peggy!

QOTD: I think maybe one of my happiest times was when I got a brand new pair of roller skates for Christmas. I loved to skate, went almost every weekend. We never had very big Christmases when I was a kid, so that was a BIG deal for me!

QOTD, Oh I have an answer right away.

My most happiest moments when I was young when this big 400 steam engine would come around the corner of the bend with it's big light flashing and my grandma would be on that train!! It would be around 2 AM and our mom would wake us up while we were waiting for it to come. It was WAY better than Christmas morning and getting our gifts. She was the only living grandparent that we ever had and she raised me until I was five since I was 7 months...

Good morning everyone from our really cold WI weather. It is -7 here with the wind chill of -17....School is still on tho. Those poor kids have sure had a hard winter once again... Our DD in Marquette, MI has -24 this morning...

Not much going on here today. We will wait until tomorrow when it will be a bit warmer and than go to Walmart to get Mr Ken's oranges, bananas and bread once again...He does drag me out at least once a week besides church...Oh yes, and pay both car ins and get some gas...We have been starting the van each day to make sure it has been all warmed up for 15 min and than it goes off by it's self...Oh how we love that remote starter we got for Christmas.

I'll have to think of that one.

I'm off to get my hair cut and then we are off to Bagel King. I think it will be a lazy day but I'm not sure right now. We went for our walk early because it is 59 this morning and that's a great temperature to walk in.

Just a quick Hi, it was a nice sunny day and above freezing, the animals sure liked being out for a change. Spent way too much time with a fork and wheelbarrow today and my back is sore so to bed for me after a hot shower!

Nice to have good neighbors like that Trudy!

UGH on those snakes Jim! Don't see many snakes here except garter snakes and that's fine with me!

Annie, that must have been an awful feeling! I know I lost my footing in the ocean at Myrtle Beach and didn't like that at all!! Those waves can be pretty strong!

Peggy, I can see why that would be scary for a little one!

Went to GGDs birthday party. Those are pretty crazy at the Jump Palace. They have several huge bounce houses in there, some arcade games, some of those quarter operated rides, etc. Aiyden liked the bounce house if there were only a couple in it. Too many kids and the bigger ones just don't watch out for the little ones. He had more fun on the quarter operated bull dozer and fire truck. LOL

We topped out at 80 today. Working in the yard with shorts on.

Qotd: when I was about 7 yo. We lived on a farm in Rosemark Tenn. while my father was stationed nearby in the navy. Everyday we encountered moccasins in the yard, on the gate top, picnic table, in with the chickens. Always cotton mouth moccasins. Had some close calls and to this day if a snake has a diamond or arrow head shaped head in our yard it is dead.

Never quit dreaming.

Wow Trudy there was nothing scary?

QOTD My scary thing was probably what I remember from pictures and not from a real memory. My picture was taken as I sat on the railing of the Bear Mt. Bridge. My Mother stood next to me and held onto me but I can remember looking down and into the water far below.

I also LOVED the Red Skelton show..
They just dont make shows like those anymore.

QOTD:
I am thinking most of us had "water" experiences!! Mine was jumping waves in the ocean,, and the tide was going out,,, the water/sand started out, and I fell and felt like I was going into the ocean forever.. even today when I clam dig,, I go for a sand bar to dig on, NOT the water.

DH and DS went to Home Depot and got us a new riding lawn mower, the old one was 30 yrs old..I had to jump start it and the transmission was out so no reverse, but we got 30 good years ,, and I drove that ol/' mower up and over ROCKS,/ took the kids for rides to the mail box ect !! EXCEPT this new one is all computerized, oh my ,, going to try it out this afternoon.. DH tried it last night(( has fancy head lights)) and it went so fast he almost hit our boat..LOL We ALL screamed, !!

Good morning,
Happy Sunday!! It's a beautiful day here!! We had about 6 inches of snow Friday night. All day yesterday I thought I'd shovel today (Sunday) Then about 3:30 I looked at the forecast and it was 35 yesterday and today was predicted to be 19....So, I decided to go do it yesterday.
I had about 1/3 of it done and my neighbor came to help. We finished by 4. Yea!! I'm so happy that it's done and I really appreciated my help!!
After I/we shoveled, I went to their house (the neighbor). His significant other had a hurt Achilles tendon and is down for 6 to 8 weeks. This has been a long haul and she has such trouble getting around that she is really getting depressed. I was over here for a couple of hours. I came home and had tuna casserole for dinner.
Today I need to work on a baby blanket that I started yesterday. I have a of dvr'd television. I may get caught up on my shows!!
QOTD: I don't remember any scary things from my childhood. Boring life I guess!!
Merri, so glad Ken's eyes are so much better.
Joyce, have fun at the "jumping" birthday party!!
Terri, great compromise!
I hope you all have a good Sunday and great week!!
