Good morning we have a very wet cooler morning here in K-town. It is 60 and Mr Ken officially turned on the furnace!!! Sure feels good in here now. Just long enough to get the chill/dampness out of here.

Or course the mean neighbor is going camping!!! What on earth is his problem anyway? Maybe they can camp FREE if it is raining and cold miserable out?

Joyce, I am so glad to read here too that you are so close to so many things that you can walk to them. I was hoping you were going to be able to do that...Sometimes the car situation gets to be one big mess doesn't it? But, of course the ones that work have to have a way to get there. We do sacrifice to much sometimes for our kids...I guess that is our job at times. I does feel so good to be able to help them out too...

Yesterday our DS Rick had us print out 20 pages to be sent to the IRS. I guess Rick owed them some money that it took them this long to catch it? It was way back from his 2014 taxes....So, since we have power of attorney, we could do it all here for him...Than get it to the post office and sent it priority mail and get a tracking number. He did it all on the computer but I guess they wanted a printed out form too. Not sure.

I had my mammogram done yesterday too. Boy we ever busy for one morning. First Mr Ken got his blood work done. The family dr nurse called and said that 130 isn't a low enough number for Mr Ken's sugar count. She wants it around 80. NO WAY, I have seen it that low and Mr Ken is almost stumbling around and sweating like crazy. I know Mr Ken better than the family dr does...Thank you very much LOL

I than had the last thing they can do now when I see the rheumotolist yesterday. Three injections my left knee. Why does Medicare make us go through all of this and than just ok's the knee surgery anyway? She said full of arthritis on the inside of the knee and a mencis tear on the outside and a cyst too...So had to sit yesterday to start and see if it will work. Hardest thing for me to do LOL....Than off to the chiropractor to get an adjustment too...Oh yes pneumonia shot too....I have to many extra holes in me now that the water might come out all over.....

We have a roast in the oven. When the mean man goes out and hooks up his trailer, I just love to open our side door a bit and let him smell Mr Ken's cooking...I can hear his live in girl friend asking him if he can smell our good cooking. Even when Mr Ken makes hamburgers LOL

Good morning,
Another cool, cloudy and rainy morning. It's suppose to be here for the next couple of days. Next week will be sunny and a little warmer.
Roz, it's great that you're able to get back to the swimming and walking on the beach. I didn't realize you lived in such a rural area. Glad you were able to make the trip to town and back before a storm.
Joyce, that's great that you're within walking distance of stores, especially since you're without a vehicle so often. Does Jim know when he'll get the company car? Did Brenda and Jim make it home last night? Did you do dinner? Enjoy the day/party on the lake tomorrow!!
Peggy, I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your sister. I'm really looking forward to my sister coming to visit in Nov. We always have such a GREAT time together.
Gwyn, I hope the commute to the new job isn't too bad. Good luck.
Merri, how did your Dr. visit go this week? Once a year isn't too bad since it's so far from where you live.
Sharon, take it easy and get your strength back. Pain equals NO exercise so, taking it easy is the way to go!!
Hi to all of you and everyone have a great day.

Good Morning Everyone....

Hi Roz - it's great you can get back to your routine of swim/walk. I love walking along a beach!! I just don't swim. I love that we have a grocery store that actually is in walking distance if I only need a few items. It's so strange being in a "city" yet have no feel of that here at the apt.

Peggy, sounds like you had a great visit with your sister!! The idea of sitting in the rain for soccer wouldn't appeal to me either! We had a real downpour during the night, but it's sunny this morning. Have you talked to Kathy??

Sharon, you're wise not to push yourself! But sounds like you had a good day yesterday! My hip was hurting last night after I went to bed, had a hard time falling asleep which is unusual for me! I'm usually out like a light!

Gwyn, how far away would that job be?

Sam's mother is coming here when she's done working today. She's been working in NC at a job for someone....normally she's in Ohio. I imagine she's just here for the weekend. Austin rented a pontoon boat for the day tomorrow so everyone can party on the lake with her. :-)

It is Friday and going to be a lovely sunny 70 degree day with light breeze. Sounds perfect to me. It was 48 when I got up and love the cool mornings. Today Marshall will mow the lawn when he gets done work and Tina will take me for groceries about 3:00 when she gets done work. I want to do some dusting today so I can finish cleaning over the weekend. I feel pretty good right now and back seems better. I will try walk 20 minutes today. Only did 10 yesterday. Taking it slow so I don't aggravate the back again. Well, hope you all enjoy you Friday.

Have not posted here for six days and it seems ages !
Desk top seemed to have crashed so I'm relying on tablet which is not my cup of tea but have no choice.

Have started back on my routine of walking & swimming this week.
Monday &Tuesday were great yesterday because of
the brewing storm the sea was so rough and fierce that I just walked in and walked back out.

Despite thunder storms I managed to travel by bus into town this mornl
ing (about65miles away ) but I was able to get there and back within six and a half hours which was very good because everywhere looked so grey dull and cloudy.
We are usually fortunate not to get a direct hit by the storms & hurricanes because we are the most southernly island but we get the rains and flash flooding in some areas.
Have a blessed evening everyone!
Roz.

Just back from my sister Mary's. I love when we start talking about our childhoods. She is 10 years older than I am so we really lived different lives even in the same family.

Zone5: Mission #5 Friday

Today is the last day of the Living Room Zone. Your mission for today is to place something pretty in the room that is just for you. I am thinking of some lovely flowers that are from your garden or a small bouquet that you can purchase for just a few dollars. Maybe you have a lovely arrangement or plant somewhere in your home that would be just perfect in your freshly decluttered living room!

Annie, that's so good to hear the system is working that well with and for you and your DH! Awesome that you don't have to miss out on the trip, too! Sounds like it is all going to be just fine!

Talked to Amy today - still nothing set for Chance's day in court. She said the fair board is out for blood and it could be a jury trial! WOW! Tough, tough lesson. I sure hope their attorney is on top of his game!

missed you Gwyn,, wondered where you went to,, so glad you figured out how to get "to us "

well the meeting went WAY above WONDERFUL..
there were 2 criminal advocates,, both were SO good.. Right now, Shelby Reinhart,, the sguatter, homeless person is locked up in a mental facility..

they had BOTH DH and I write down why//what.. and they will "stand in " for us,, due to we have those free airline tickets,, and 4 days at the Peppermill in Reno,NV (( IF we didn't go to Reno,, we would have to PAY for plane tickets,, and hotel room,)),, that is how the contract with the Peppermill is set up,,,
so the 2 advocates will "stand in " for us,, and then we are to call them to see how the court hearing went..

THEN we DO have to be at the final court and will have to both go before the judge and speak {they can speak for you,, but said it is much better if a "victim" speaks directly to the judge , gives him more of a personal feel to ,, WE WANT her getting mental help and KEPT locked up.}.

both advocates said they saw/heard her in court before,, couldn't reveal WHAT she said, but it was NOT nice and they had her removed from a different court REAL fast..

so long post for , I was very impressed about how they are handling this,, and that they gave DH and me each advocates,, that are working for US...

Hi all,
Cool, cloudy, rainy day here. Fall is making itself felt!
Welcome back Gwyn, I'm glad you found your way back!!
Joyce, I think you answered your own question. You were too tired to mess with the computer stuff yesterday!! Glad everyone is doing well. Good luck to Sam finding something in the short term.
Barb, keep that dentist. I've never heard of a nice thing like that happening!! Enjoy your gift card too!!
Annie, I, too, had forgotten about that crazy woman. Do keep us posted as to what happens. I hope the meeting goes well for your husband.
I'm trying soup again. My standard veg. soup. We'll see if this goes any better than the last try. I hope so, it's a great day for a nice bowl of warm soup.
Just another 12 days and I'll be off to Portland. I can hardly wait to hug my honeys out there!!
I'm going to make some pumpkin bread. I have a new recipe to try.
Everyone have a great rest of the day!!

Hi all....welcome back Gwyn! Computers can be such a blessing and such a royal pain sometimes.

I thought my bigger computer had crashed yesterday. I couldn't get it to boot up for anything and I needed to print some papers for the credit union that holds our van loan. They needed proof of insurance with our new company. Finally got it to boot up after a dozen tries, then I couldn't print anything! Re-set both the computer and the printer and still nothing. I was SO frustrated. Asked our agent to fax the pages to the company and she said she would, but then said she got the FAX back as undeliverable. Geez! I just gave up, after a full day of babysitting I was in no mood to deal with it anymore. Got up this morning and decided to try one more time. Computer booted right up, the printer printed about ten copies of the letter I was trying to print yesterday that were still in the print queue. I got online, found the insurance pages and printed them with no problem at all. What the heck? I sure don't get what was wrong yesterday!

Andrea's off today but has a dr. appt. later so we'l have the kids for a couple of hours. Brenda and Jim are on their way home. I should figure out something to cook for dinner for everyone so they don't have to worry about it and can visit with the kids. Hmmmm

Annie, I'd forgotten all about that crazy woman!!! Keep us posted!

Peggy, enjoy the time at the Archives!

Sharon, genre is a pretty unusual word for a 10 year old! LOL

I'll tell Sam to be aware of the interviewing conversations - thanks Frances!!

Well, better get moving here - I'll check back later.

Good morning! Just checking in to see how you are all doing.

Not much to report here: rain, rain, rain - and predicted to continue right through the weekend. It's fine - aside from having to keep the kidlets occupied indoors - since we've had a bit of a dry spell this year.

Joyce, you are correct - interviewers cannot ask about pregnancy or any other personal details. But, the saavy ones have ways of engaging prospective hires in conversation that will elicit information without any direct questions, so she should be aware.

Barb - wow! What a great dentist you have!

Will pop in later...

Yesterday turned out to be a nice day. It was 67 degrees in my house when I got up and 37 outside. It did warm up nicely throughout the day. Going to be another lovely day today. I will take every one of these days because soon enough it will be cold and the white stuff will be around. Not looking forward to that. Evan came and we had a great time. He is such a nice young man. He is so grown up for his age. He is 10 and talking about different book genre and I had to laugh. He likes to read and when I asked him what kind of books he just told me he liked to try different genre. What can I say. My back was good yesterday and hope it stays that way. Will go slow again today but still get some things done. Hope everyone enjoys their day.

I think your dental office did something I think ALL dr-dentist offices should do,, to apologize and then to give a GC.. makes you feel like they DID care that you were way over your appointment....

I have Women's Bible Study, but gona have to leave early to take DH to the advocate,, She called and said she wanted to meet with him, and go over things that will be at the court over the squatter who attacked DH..
There is a Nov. court ,, to see if the homeless women can even be at court, mentally.. The advocate sounded good on the phone,, .

Barb, Sam isn't "obviously" pregnant yet.....I understand they aren't allowed to ask about it when you apply for a job, but not sure. I would think she could at least get a "seasonal" job at the area malls, hoping so anyhow. I know she hates just sitting at home.

We had a quick storm blow through with some heavy wind, now we're just getting heavy rain off and on. It's needed though.

That was really nice of the dental office to give you that gift card. More places should be like that when they inconvenience you!

Zone 5: Mission #4 Thursday

Check the floors in your living room. Look at that two inches all they way around the walls and baseboards that seems to get missed with the vacuum and the broom. Your mission today is to use the vacuum and really concentrate on that area, you can also use a vegetable or toilet bowl brush (not the ones that you are currently using on veggies or the toilet, lol)to loosen the hair and dirt that gets caught up against the wall.

Hi All;

LOL .... I stayed in today and did my exercise from the safety of my home!

Most of the trees are already starting to turn, some are already dropping. I don't think it will be a pretty fall - not enough rain this summer.

Went to the dentist today - just for a cleaning. Appt was at 5:00, 5:20 I'm still sitting in the waiting room. So I asked and they said it would be another 10 minutes. Imagine a 30 min wait! When I was done and went to the desk to pay, they kept analogizing and then they gave me a $10 GC to Panera - they said to enjoy lunch on them for making me wait. I thought that was very nice of them.

Sharon, hopefully the back spasms have left and you can enjoy Evan's company.

Trudy, so glad you enjoyed your company. Perhaps he can come back soon for another visit. Or maybe you can visit him.

Annie, it's hard when your hubby is sick - it's a worry. I'm along with you - I'd have just burned that pallet!

Joyce, we'll keep reminding you - afterall you're no 'spring chicken'! And I'm sure they would feel terrible if something happened to you because you were run down. Will someone give Sam a job now? because she's pregnant?

Yeah, Andrea posted a pic on FB today that said grandparents who babysit are less likely to have dementia or alzheimers. I wanted to say yeah, because they don't live that long! LMAO! Really, Brenda is doing a lot more right now, just that she insists on going on these business trips with Jim. It's funny, when SHE has them for the day, she ends up bringing them here for a couple of hours so they get a "change of scenery" and then comes back after them. Funny how that works.

Aiyden and I walked over to Food Lion to get a gallon of milk. It's not a bad walk at all. That's another thing that has to change soon - we are without our vehicle most of the time! Jim still hasn't got his vehicle allowance finalized so their van is gone all the time. Michael sold his old car before we came down so he drives Andrea's every day. Andrea takes our van to work. It's either that or Andy has to take her and pick her up and it's half an hour each way. He's not that familiar with the driving here yet. Naturally they can't afford another car right now. She's trying to get Sam a job at Burger King with her so they could ride together. Sam and Austin both have cars. She's going a little stir crazy not finding a job yet. Just as well with her Mom coming this weekend, I know she wouldn't want to miss time with her. Monday she can hit the road job searching again.

good morning everyone:

Thank you for all the kind words you said about the planter (pallet ) box that Kathy made me..

I am not "crafty" so my idea of this old pallet was..... use it for fire wood in my burn pit,, and roast smoors...... LOL...

Trudy:
excited for your up coming volunteer recognition luncheon,, you are well deserved of that luncheon.. with your volunteering..

I hope today is a good one.. DH 's health issues have been all over the place.. I know this sounds like a "poor me",, but somedays I just go,, I need a break... ok,, now that is that and I will go peddle my exercise bike, and read....

everyone have a SUPER ~~ WONDERFUL DAY emoticon

Good morning,
Well, the end of the visit has come! My friend and I have had such a great time.
Barb, I guess you DO have too many critters to walk when it isn't light out!! Goodness.
Hopefully the end of the week will go smoothly for your two big projects/orders.
Joyce, I'm with the others. Don't take on all 4 kids. You and Andy do actually deserve some time on your own. If you weren't available other arrangements would be made.... emoticon
Annie, that planter is beautiful. Lucky you....more painting!! emoticon
Merri, so glad the new mattress is working out so well!! Yay!!
Sharon, hopefully the back spasms will NOT return! Enjoy your time with Evan.
Peggy, enjoy the day.
France, Gwyn, Roz I hope you all have a great day too!!
I'm volunteering this afternoon. Next Tuesday is a recognition luncheon.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hope it's a great day for you Sharon with no spasms and you can enjoy Evan. Sounds like you have it planned out well.

Pretty day here again. Have the kids today, so don't expect to accomplish much. That's OK. Andrea is off tomorrow and Brenda will be home tomorrow night, so I get some time off the next few days. :-)

Annie, she is indeed a crafty person. It is a great idea for a lovely planter box.
I am feeling better today with no spasms as of yet. I will go slow but do a few things today. I did rest most of yesterday and that usually helps. I have a load of laundry to do and will do some more dusting today. I will have Evan after school today so that breaks up my day. Will put a roast in the crockpot and that doesn't take any time at all either. Enjoy you day today and see you tomorrow.

You gals will have to keep reminding me.......LOL

Michael got home before Andrea did today so he picked the kids up then. Saved me an hour or so. Tomorrow she doesn't leave until 9:30, but works till 8. Not sure what time Michael will be home.

I think I told you all that Sam's mother is visiting this weekend. I guess Austin is going to rent a pontoon boat for everyone to go out on Lake Wylie Saturday.

Watching the ballgame - we're getting whalloped tonight. Clinched the division championship last night, so a lot of our regulars aren't playing tonight - giving them a break and getting a look at some of the younger players before the season is over.

Goodness Barb, guess you BETTER limit your walking to daylight hours! Yikes!

Hi All;

I decided this morning to do my exercise (walking) outside - not a good idea. This was at 5:30 in the morning and a little too dark. A skunk crossed right in front of me and a raccoon was on my front lawn when I go back. Too many critters for me! I'll stay inside until it gets light out! But I did get a good walk in!

Work has been so very busy! This Friday are 2 big deadlines, final adjustment orders for Valentines and first order for Easter. Too much work in too little time!

Have a dentist appt tomorrow, not looking forward to that.

Peggy, hope you had a great time with your sister. In fact I just got off the phone with one of mine - it is her bday today, she is 62.....can't believe she's that old!! (But I'm older!!)

Joyce, that's a long day for you! You must sleep like a rock! How will you ever handle 4 of them??? They will just have to find other options - that would be so much for you!

Frances, you have lots of activities for your GC, they must really like spending time with you.

Sharon, hope your back feels better!

Trudy, sounds like you're enjoying your company - good for you!

Merri, so glad your hubby likes his new mattress! Afterall - better to have a happy hubby than not!

Annie what a cute planter, and to be so clever to think it up and do it!!

Annie, I sure envy crafty people like that! It's beautiful!

Trudy, that's one thing I'll miss is our Amish community. I grew up with the Amish in Middlefield, they are still a very large group there - always had to avoid "Winkie Day" at Wal Mart! LOL

Merri, glad you're liking the new mattress! We didn't go look at the beds yesterday. Probably not till Thursday now, when Andrea is off.

Babysitting not going too badly - only four hours to go! Whew! Did get a couple loads of laundry done at least. Folded on our bed, I'll put them away after the kids leave. Both of them LOVE to unfold them on me! Adalyn just went in for a nap (hopefully) so a little quieter. I can't even IMAGINE things here next year at this time with two more added!

Good morning from a bit cooler K-town. It is 52 and going to get to around 70. A good day to cut the grass..

Ok report in on Mr Ken and his new mattress. He seems happier this morning LOL...He said it was a great sleep, but do you think he would tell me any different? I woke up a few times thinking I was falling out of bed. I can roll over so much easier now. I guess it was a good change for both of us...

I found $10 yesterday and we have made our minds about five times at how we are going to spend this darn $10 bill LOL...My gosh, it is like we found gold...

Joyce, Oh my that does make a very long day for you and Andy. I know the kids are good and all, but still alot of work for both of you...

So far we haven't had to wear a jacket here. But than, we don't go anywhere at night either.

Tomorrow we have to make the trip for me to the sleep apnea dr...It seems so far to go, but only have to go once a yr. Otherwise, Medicare won't pay for me supplies I have to use for my sleep...I also really like this dr too...

Good morning,
It's cool this morning. 49 It's suppose to get to 70. Beautiful fall weather. Peggy, I, for one, really enjoy the light jacket weather!!
My friend and I went to our Amish community yesterday. He enjoyed it. Then we sat on the deck for a bit. The neighbors came over. I had put a roast and veg. in the crock pot. It was really good. We could go play and still have a nice dinner.
Tonight we're going for pizza and pool with the neighbors and possibly another couple. It'll be fun.
Sharon, I hope the back spasms go away.
Frances, enjoy making airplanes with the kiddos.
Joyce, I'll be the 10 plus hour day was rough, you haven't had to do that for a while. Take care of yourself.
LOL Annie!! Are you better rested today?
Peggy, have fun with your sister. Enjoy the tea room!!
Everyone have a great day.

Got a couple loads of laundry done yesterday and made a big crockpot ful of chili. It was very good. I had muscle spasms in my back last night so had a tough night sleeping. Fell asleep about the time I would wake up and then only slept for about an hour and a half so will have a very quiet day today. Hopefully I can get rid of these spasms today. Hope you all enjoy your day.

Good morning! My goodness you are a busy, busy group. I've only been away a few days and trying to catch up takes time. LOL. It all sounds like "good" busy at least.

It's only in the 50s here - but will be 70 before noon. The kids and I are making foam airplanes this morning, then heading out for a walk - probably to the playground. And yes, Peggy, I do have things on a table that need to be moved - specifically, some framed pictures that I think would be better on the wall. The sad news is that I actually bought new frames to hang them - and just never got around to it. So flylady will move me once again.

We had fun at Texas Roadhouse last night. I even had to sit on the horse or whatever while everyone sang

Thanks for the anniversary wishes.

Isn't it great Barb to have to put on a jacket in the morning and evening.

We had a great time at Adin's game yesterday too! It was nice being outside watching the kids run up and down the field.

I'm sleeping over my sister Patty's tonight. We are going to Harney Brothers tea shop and restaurant for lunch and to pick up some tea.

Peggy, Happy Anniversary from us too here in K-town. I am so glad to read that you are going to the Texas Roadhouse. We were there last with our son Rick. We had better get there soon as Mr Ken doesn't like to drive in the dark. We usually try and get there right at 3:30 PM...

Hi all.....

Trudy the play was AMAZING! Would never have believed they could bring it to life as well as they did. The dancing was truly incredible!

Glad you're having a good time with your friend in spite of all the delays! Goodness! And yes, it's a shame that young man didn't make the call as usual, but certainly it made sense and he can't dwell on it. That's really sad!

Sharon, a day like that does you good!

Peggy, have a great time with the family at Texas Roadhouse - one of our favorite places!!

It was very windy, cloudy and cool yesterday and just a plain old indoor day. I sure did enjoy. I gave Hailley (my dog) a bath and scrubbed out the shower. I then sat down to watch the football game and ended dozing off and on throughout the whole thing. Missed a lot but was glad that we won. Today will do some laundry and see what else I get done. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning,
It's a cool 58 this morning and it rained a bit earlier. I think it's suppose to clear up later.
I'm enjoying my visit with my friend from WA state. He was delayed by rain twice in Dallas on Sat. He was suppose to get here (Champaign,IL) at 4:59 pm on Sat. Ended up getting to Springfield, IL (75 miles away) at 11:30 pm. Then we came here. He didn't have his luggage of course because the checked luggage didn't make the delayed flights.....so, it was suppose to arrive at the airport in Champaign last night at 10:45. We decided to get it today. We went to my nieces for dinner last night. What a nice time.
My sister's ex husband died yesterday from a heart attack. He was 65. Their son lives near Springfield. He said he and his dad always talked on Sunday before the Bears game but, the Bears didn't play till 7 last night so he delayed his call and now he wishes he'd called as usual. I hope he's able to let go of the guilt soon. Poor kid.
I went to see the movie Sully on Sat. A fantastic movie. If you go stay for the credits and you'll see the real Sully and the real passengers of the plane. Very much worth your time and money.
Merri, so glad you decided on a mattress. I hope after all of this that it does help Ken's back.
Annie, you made quite the haul didn't you!! Sometimes things just work out right. Good for you!! Glad you had some help on the high parts of the garage too.
Joyce, it sounds like you're having quite a good time getting to know your new area!! I'm so happy for you. How was the play? I hope it was everything you had hoped for!
Peggy, thank you for Fly Lady! I'm glad you're enjoying your time in NY so much.
Barb, isn't it GREAT getting the closets under control. It just HAS to be done once in a while. Now other people who need the clothes can enjoy them and you don't have to look at them everyday!!
Sharon, I hope you have a better day today and can get some rest.
Hi Roz, Gwyn, Frances.
Everyone have a fantastic day!

Hi All;

Lots of chatter going on here!!

Had a very busy weekend. Thursday night I cleaned out my closet. What I thought was going to be a 30 minute job turned into a 2 night job! BUT - I got both of my closets all sorted and cleaned. Separated the clothes; 1 group goes to 'Dress for Success' (my good business clothes) and the other group to a clothing drive. Well I have 3 huge bags for the clothing drive and LOTS of clothes for the other group! And I haven't started with my shoes yet! I got tired of looking in my closet, seeing LOTS of clothes - but having nothing to wear.

Sorted thru them all - got rid of all my size 10 clothes (I'm currently a 14). I am aiming for the next size down - but it could take me alot longer to get to a 10, and by then I might not even be working - or the clothes will be out of style!

Saturday went to a concert; called the DooWop Project - it was great! Singers/Actors from both Jersey Boys and Motown got together and formed this group. The did songs from the 50's up to the 70's - what a wonderful time we had!

Today went to a Christening. - another generation is starting, that just warms my heart. The mass was very good - all the babies were good and no one cried! Then went back to 'Grandmas' house' for a great meal. These are all Jerry's relatives, but they are sooo nice and treat me as if I've been part of the family for years.

I will catch up with everyone tomorrow - it's been a long couple of days.

Peggy, that's sure quite a coincidence, isn't it???

Plans changed - we went to the AT@T store to get our sim cards replaced. Andy pulled his out of his pocket and one of the arrow keys broke off. Brenda decided it was time for us to upgrade our phones. Every time we'd been due for one, we'd let the kids use it. So, for about $5 more a month we have new phones with internet capabilities and the works. Now to figure out how to use them! LOL

Austin had asked Jim and Brenda what they were doing today - they said they thought they'd go check out Lake Wylie and asked if they wanted to follow along. Then Jim decided he'd just as soon take the van as the Harley today, since it was pretty hot. So we went along. From there we went to three more furniture stores. Did find a loveseat I think I like better than the one yesterday - still "pondering."

Zone 5: Mission #1 Monday

This week we are in Zone 5, The Living Room and I want each and every one of you to go into your living rooms and stand there. While you are standing there I want you to look around you and look at the flat surfaces (end tables, coffee tables, tops of tv's/entertainment centers, bookcases, mantles, etc)

What do have on these surfaces? Are they the same decorative things that you have always had? Do you really love them? Are they cluttered up with too many things? Too many ducks, bunnies, candles, cows, precious moments etc? I am not condemning those things but asking you if they still bring you joy and do you still love seeing them in your living room? Or are you just used to them.

What about the piles of magazines and papers? Do you NEED those? You would be amazed at how much neater your living room will appear by just removing a few things.

How much easier would it be to dust these areas without all that stuff?

Your mission is to get rid of the stuff that is cluttering up your living room. Take 5 minutes to let go of some things. I am willing to bet that more of you will find you do want to get rid of some things because they do not bring you joy and you are just used to them being there.

Have fun!

Zone 5: Mission #2 Tuesday

Back to the Living Room we go! One of my all time favorite missions for the living room is to go sofa and chair diving. This is where we start digging through the furniture and pluck out the cheerios and old socks. I am always amazed at how much stuff I can pull out of the couch in just one short month! I think the couch is kind of like the clothes dryer, it seems to keep things!

Have fun, this should not take longer than 5 minutes!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #3 Wednesday

Let's have a Fire Drill! Go get the hotspots cleared off in your Living Room! You know the piles that I am talking about. The ones that just grow and grow!! Put that fire out!

Take 10 minutes and put things away where they belong and toss the rest.

Zone 5: Mission #4 Thursday

Check the floors in your living room. Look at that two inches all they way around the walls and baseboards that seems to get missed with the vacuum and the broom. Your mission today is to use the vacuum and really concentrate on that area, you can also use a vegetable or toilet bowl brush (not the ones that you are currently using on veggies or the toilet) to loosen the hair and dirt that gets caught up against the wall.

Oh how exciting for you Merri!!! I'll be waiting to hear what the gender is! It was cute last night at the play I asked Sam if they had picked out names yet. She said Brynlee Noel for a girl and Bryson James for a boy. I don't know if Andrea has decided on names yet, have to ask her today when I see her.

Good Sunday morning everyone. It is 66 degrees here right now and sunny. They are saying it will get to be around 80....That's ok with me...

I have one load of whites to do wash today. I will let them soak in the washer for a few hrs first

Ok now I have two things to share today...First, Mr Ken has found a mattress that he likes. Rick yelled really loud at him yesterday over Skype to get a darn mattress so your back and hips will feel better. Oh my how this kid can get his dad to listen all of the way from Afghanistan!!! So now, that Mr Ken has thought it all over yesterday afternoon, we are going back to the store today and use Rick's debit card...

OK, now for the second thing going on today...Between 3PM -3:30 PM our DGD is suppose to come on Facebook and tell us the gender of our first new great grand baby!!! What they can do today on the internet....She has been married 6 yrs now and so this is going to be so special as there is a great grandma on the other side of the family too...

This is our Debbie's daughter who is on here too...Her daughter's name is Jaimi Parker. Hubby John Parker.

Joyce, You are like Mr Ken & I. We have to come home and think about the purchase before we buy it..Not a bad idea tho. I bet the sales lady thinks she won't see us again LOL...They also wanted $65 dollars to bring it here. Mr Ken's brother will bring it for us. Our DS said to get him a gift card for the grocery store for bringing it here...A good idea...

Sharon, sorry you had a rough night and hope you get some good rest today!!

Peggy, sounds like you're "fun busy" today!

Another pretty day here, don't know if it's usually this dry this time of year or if it's just a fluke. It's 75 at the moment.

Andrea's working, Michael has the kids. Brenda and Jim are getting the van ready for their business trip and then want to take a bike ride later today I think. Not sure what Sam and Austin are up to. Her Mom is going to be here next weekend, I think. She's on a job in NC and then plans to swing down here to see them before going home. I'm sure Sam's excited about that!

Marshall did get the lawn mowed before it rained. I will watch the game this afternoon and get a little cleaning done. Have a good Sunday.

I knew it was close Peggy - LOL So, I'm a little early......

We ended up going to River Park here in Rock Hill this morning and took a nice long walk with the family along the Catawba River. Be REALLY enjoyable when it's a bit cooler, but was still fun. Then we did go look at furniture. Found a love seat I like - going to "ponder" it a day or two before deciding. We went to two or three places.

Home for a bit and leaving in about 45 min. for the play in Charlotte. Thinking I'll be one tired gal tonight!!

I thought we might all need some nice warm coffee or tea...It is 64 here this morning and they say only as high as 70 and cloudy...Fall is here for sure by us....

Joyce, Good luck with your furniture hunt. That is so nice to have something new in your new apartment too...

Annie, Wouldn't that be nice if we could just pass things onto our friends on here? I would love it. I have these really nice pair of snow boots that I have to find someone to pass them off to too. I had to buy them when my foot got wider when my little toe got so bad...Now the dr took the bone of of the little toe and I can wear all of my old boots again...

Not much going on here today. Might just go and look at mattress again tho. Mr Ken's feet were swollen yesterday with him just sitting by his computer and his feet hanging. Have to get him out and moving today. Oh yes, he did see now at Menards that his carbon monixode sensor is on sale after he bought his...Have to go and get a price adjustment. At least that will get him moving. The swelling goes down once he moves....He is a diabetic and we have to get him to M...O...V...E LOL

Hi everyone!

Annie glad you had such a good day and sounds like a great weekend ahead, too.

Have a safe drive back to Rockland County, Peggy. Isn't today your anniversary??? If not, I know it's right around here, so
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PEGGY AND JERRY!!!

Sharon, slow and steady is pretty much how I've been "settling in" here. Figure if I clear out a couple of boxes each day, I'm making progress. LOL Beautiful blue skies here this morning.

We're going to go look at furniture today, I think. Then tonight we're going into Charlotte for the stage play of "Dirty Dancing".

Have a great day everyone!!

We did get some rain late yesterday afternoon so Marshall was unable to mow after he got off work. I am hoping that the rain for today will hold off long enough for the grass to dry so he can get it done today. I walked for 35 minutes yesterday and then did some dusting/polishing furniture. I also got the bathroom cleaned. Today I need to get some groceries and then will finish the dusting/polishing and vacuum the furniture. Slow but steady.

So much catching up after only3 days!!!

Peggy------------Thank you for the sentiments expressed :)
Thanks for the posting of 'Fly Lady' I had to smile to myself when I saw today's because only last night I gave my dressing table a thorough going over and I felt like a load was lifted off my back !
Still have to tackle the ward robes though. emoticon

Today I managed to defrost my freezer and was surprised by some of what I found.......
Half a turkey and a large chicken among other food stuff. Now I've posted a list of the items
so at a glance I will remember what is in there.

Does anyone know about Sorrel ?

This is a 'herb' I think, but it is used to make a local drink in Trinidad at Christmas time. I found that I have about 6-8 lbs so no need to buy this Christmas . It makes a lovely drink and I just love it..

Have a blessed and good week end everyone! emoticon
Roz.

Frances these challenges come from Fly Lady.com and I just post them for the group.

There is one where she says pick any room and do it.

The lady in the sour dough bakery where we eat lunch every day gave us a loaf of her sourdough bread to have with our soup tonight. She usually puts in little ends of different bread but she asked what kind we wanted. It should be a good supper

Hello, everyone! Just grabbing a minute before I have to start preparing lunch.

Joyce, you must have been meant to be in SC for all those "pieces of the puzzle" to fall into place at once. And it sounds like you really like it there, too. Terrific! Did you know you can buy magnetic paint for your magnets? You can paint a wall or door - or just a small section of one, depending on how much space you need. If you use the magnetic primer, you can also paint over it with your normal wall color and it will still work.

Seems like a lot of you are changing up beds and mattresses, too. I have a good mattress here (in Virginia) but need to look for a new one - and probably a new bed - when I go back to NY. I find it hard to pick a mattress and am not fond of the new "pillow-top" types that you can't flip. Too many decisions to make. LOL.

Peggy, I love the colors you're knitting. And please give me warning when we get to cleaning the "craft room." That's going to be my big challenge!!

Annie, enjoy your visit with your friend. Should be fun catching up!

I have a 3 year old having a melt-down, so must go.

Good Morning! We had a nice rain here last evening. Cracked me up though, when the rain stopped, the sprinkler system turned on in the apt. complex across the street from us. Hadn't seen that running at all before!

Trudy, things were pretty peaceful in Charlotte last night, so hopefully the worst is over. Showed film of the protesters all shaking hands and hugging the National Guard that was there.

It's 77 here and cloudy, but it's almost always cloudy in the morning for some reason, then the sun comes out and it's gorgeous.

Next week will be a bit challenging with the kids. Brenda is leaving Monday on a business trip with Jim and not coming back till Thursday. Andrea and Michael are both working 10 hour days. Oh boy! This is a lawsuit from Jim's former company that he has to testify at. He's driving there and back and Brenda doesn't want him making the trip alone - worries about him pushing the drive too hard or falling asleep. With her, he'll stop half way. LOL

Not much going on here - more sorting and settling.

Sharon, I'm sorry you weren't up to going to dinner last night! Enjoy the rain and cooler temps though.

Merri, I used to love buying a lot of that travel stuff to send to soldiers when I did the "Soldier's Angels" packages. They loved it!`

Good morning everyone from K-town where we are at 64 right now and a light rain. They are saying we should only get in the low 70's...Yup, fall is here!!! We love it cooler tho...

Trudy, Ken & I were just talking about that this morning about getting the things that Rick said and than look around for little things that she might not be able to find or get there. Great idea! I know we can find so many things like at Walmart where they have those small sample size things that you take with you when you go on a trip. I love looking at all of those anyway..

Joyce, That is so good now that Brenda can help with the kids now too. At least you know you can get some breaks during the day..Get back to getting your new apartment all cool and getting the "lived" in look...Oh yes, getting your new couch too...

So today, we are going to eat left over sauerkraut and I hope stay home...Mr Ken is starting in again on wanting to look for a mattress. We just get so confused when Mr Ken looks on the internet. I guess it is back to the stores and have him just try them out one by one. It really doesn't matter to me..Just so he gets a better sleep.
