I got my beads in 78-79 and was on my first staff of a class that made it in 85.

I am a Buffalo. I received my beads back in the late 90's. I am married to a Bobwhite.

I finished my Wood Badge course in December 2013 and am currently working on my tickets. It's been a great experience so far and I'm looking forward to wrapping it up later in the year so I can count myself among the great scouters who have earned their beads!

I used to be an Eagle, a good ol' Eagle too... And married to a Fox.

I took the course Fall 2012, got my beads in February 2013. Worked my tail off to get those tickets done, as I wanted my father to be there. He's a good ol' Eagle, too, and took it at Central Region Canoe Base in Wisconsin back in July, 1969... when they got out of the course, they were hearing on the radio that Neil Armstrong was walking on the moon. When I took the course, our SPL told us at dinner that Neil Armstrong had passed away. Talk about a Woodbadge connection that spanned the decades!

Excellent training course, great way to build friendships, and one of the best experiences of my life. My husband has been on staff twice, and while I'm not a staffer yet, I am helping with recruiting for this year's course in our Council. I recommend WoodBadge to *all* Scout leaders - Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Varsity Scouts! There's so much you can take away from it, even if you're relatively new in your position.

Wood Badge course was very good for me as a leader. Being on a couple of staffs was also very educational.

I am troop guide for the Eagles now. I wanted the Eagles because I can never be an Eagle Scout and it was the closest I could get LOL. I keep joking with my patrol that I am Bearly an Eagle since I am actually a bear.

I was an Eagle and and I am Eagle Scout and can can honestly say that Woodbadge was on of my high-lights of my adult scouting career. Even with all the scouting experiences I already had I learned a lot of organizational skills that even carried over to my professional career. If you are invited to attend Woodbadge, by all means do not turn it down. Its been fifteen years since I went through the program and still look back on it fondly.

I used to be an Owl, and a good ol' Owl too...

I did my Woodbadge in 2005 in the Tuscarora Council (SR-662). Although a lot of the leadership training was similar to training I received in the Air Force, I still learned a lot. The camaraderie with everyone is what really makes it special.

I can't begin to tell you how much fun wood badge was and how much I've learned! Even though I live some distance away in a different council, I consider my patrol member as some of my best friends in Scouting. We all were beaded together as a patrol once the final member finished his ticket.

Wood Badge is leadership training. You learn about scouting, goal setting and team building. You can do that as a cub leader.

I am currently a Weblos den leader. I don't know if I will be able to continue helping when my boy moves on to Boy Scouts, but it was suggested to me at my Weblos leader training that I try to get my Wood Badge. What is it exactly & can I get that as a Cub Scout leader?

Our Troop Guide said that she was an Eagle to help us. Then when we were "all grown up" She went back to being a buffalo. It was awesome on the last day when all our leaders joined their groups for the song. Love it.

3 of us got together for our Court of Honor. We sang the song with those that had gone to wood badge. That was fun too. (I am not a singer by choice usually.)

We were told we will always be our critter. I am an eagle.

My doctor is big into scouting. He took his wife camping as part of his ticket. but, it did not work out so well. They hiked in and it ended up taking longer than he thought it would. So the camped near a lake not far off the trail. some kids hiked in during the night after they went to bed and had a beer party. I think there were other issues.

so if you decide to do something that involves your wife and caping make it better than my doctor.

I used to be a Bear!!! Now a staffer really cool.

We had an amazing artist in our patrol who helped us with our project. It was amazing. Not sure who has it now I should find out.

My personal ticket was to do a walking program consistantly for 3 months. I had to restart it twice but it wasn't the last ticket done.

I used to be an Antelope.......

I think I have most of my ticket items figured out but I will have to flesh them out a bit more. I think the hardest ticket item will be to figure out a way to prevent my wife from feeling she is a Scouting Widow.

I also don't know whether our patrol can agree how best to present our Patrol project.

Good luch with your patrol project and if you need any ideas for your ticket item let us know.

You will have a great course director to work with. We camped at a neighboring camp from Ed Goff's Troop at Tomahawk last summer. Talking with him was the last straw to convince me to sign up for Wood Badge.

I attended our Council's annual Wood Badge breakfast yesterday. We also had a pre-course meeting with most of the participants in attendance. We will have a full course of 48 participants. We got to see the staff (and meet a few) as well as meet some of the attendees. I can't believe the course starts in only 12 days!

I was in the first ever Winter Woodbadge. It was great!!!! Make sure you have the layers you need to be outside all day. Of course I don't know what state you are in but I live in MN. I loved it! Our scoutmaster took woodbadge twice because the first time was a bad experience but it was because of people in his patrol. He thought it was worth doing again.

I've heard some leaders rave about how great an experience the Wood Badge training course was. I am enrolled for our council's winter course starting in about a month.

Has anyone here attended Wood Badge, and do you have any advice for someone starting the course?
