Back in November I met with a Registered Dietician and started following an Insulin Resistance diet Plan and finally started losing weight. I thought I was "hopeless" and then someone gave it a name.

At the time I started researching and reading everything I could find on insulin resistance.

That's when I learned about Metabolic Syndrome.....it hit me over the head when I realized I was reading about me.

Since then I have found information everywhere from The AHA to The Mayo Clinic.

Some carbohydrates are good, some are bad. Learn about the glycemic index and glycemic load. This will help you choose the carbohydrates that have the lowest impact on blood sugar levels and therefore cause you to store less fat. Low GI foods also keep you full for the longest amount of time. Avoid simple carbohydrates, such as in sugar, white breads, rice, pasta and potato. These types of carbohydrates lead to large spikes in your blood sugar levels and cause you to store calories as fat.

I have every symptom for Metabolic Syndrome. The cure is the same thing we all need to do to maintain a healthy body anyway.

I have "The Spark", "SparkPeople Cookbook" and "Spark Solutions"

I set my ticker to my highest weight of 210 lbs because it gets upset and doesn't want to save when I gain weight instead of lose.
on Dec 30, 2012 I joined SparkPeople and weighed 195.8
