I try everything I possible can. If one thing doesn't work, I go to the next.

I weigh myself.
Take measurements.
Take progress photos.
Try on a tight pair of pants.
Try a new exercise. (Would I have tried a new exercise last year?)
See how far I can run this week. (Is it further than last week?
Look at a change in my life. (Do I have more energy? Do I have more confidence?)


And.. if this doesn't work.. I still try. Because sooner or later, if I keep at it, it WILL work! It has no choice!

I know what you're saying, but patience demonstrates much more maturity and awareness of the long run.

I've gained 8 lbs since college (I was pretty skinny before) and lost only 1, so I definitely knows how it feels to want to see the results immediately. But the most important thing SparkPeople taught me is that lasting change often means slow physical results but dramatic changes in other areas: your mood, self-esteem, happiness, and everything.

I want to get this weight off by spring break as well, but just knowing that I am this challenged and making this much effort to battle bad college eating habits makes me proud of myself. I am trying and succeeding - the results can come whenever they want to. One day I'll look in the mirror and see the old me again; it won't be validation, it'll be the beginning of a much healthier future and relationship with food.

I know exactly what you're saying, I've been dieting practically since thanksgiving and I've lost 2 lbs. It's so frustrating!! I want to be 120 (starting weight 125, current weight 123) before my spring break trip (FL and the bahamas) in the beginning of march but tha tmeans I have to lose 3 lbs this month! It shouldn't be that hard right? :(

What do you do when it feels like it isn't happening fast enough?

I've been on here 2 weeks and lost 6lbs and I know that its pretty good but I just want to be thin already!!! Anyone else know how I feel? What keeps you going? How do you stop from being bored? How do you keep the courage not to give up?

I keep on thinking of how confident I'll feel in a bikini this summer. I want to wow my old friends. Has anyone ever avoided hanging out with old friends because you got so big that you're self conscious or ashamed? I can't wait to show those people how great I look. I'm just frustrated its not summer already...

Size 14- GONE
Size 12- Gone
Size 10- Perfect fit!
Size 8- Almost there!
Size 6- A fine goal
Size 4- Goal!
Size 2- Only if I'm not too skinny
Size 0- Too small for any adult!
