Holy smokes, the Day 3 crash at 10 am! Whew! It hit me too.

The chicken was phenomenal tonight! I asked my husband to grill it while I oven roasted the veggies. Just Italian seasonings, and it was so good. I didn't want to stop at 3 oz!
Veggies were good too.

Doing day 3 again, ( I reacted on day 4) so am happy to report no lightheaded feelings around 10 am , this time I was prepared! thanks for the advice!

Mel, I have had the same happen. Once I passed almonds, I have introduced an am snack of 5-10 almonds and that has really helped.

On Day 3 and 4 I experienced a crash around 10 am , ( after having my 2 glasses of water and then dandelion tea, waiting 30 min to have my breakfast of flax granola) then another water and then the crash! )

Is it too much water, or hypoglycemia do you think? Should I drink less?

I snack in the morning and then have a later lunch, because I work over the lunch hour.

Anyone have this experience?

crazy, you have all sorts of protein options: duck, lamb, fish. Plus cheese & all the veg protein sources.

make sure you were truly reactive to the chicken, and not some high-sodium chemical filler that was pumped into the chicken.

to thmrsh -- chicken is on Day 3, last day of the cleanse (that is what I reacted to, so I have to substitute steak for the chicken days). And there are 4 other days w/ chicken!

Cindy wasn't much help of fb, said I can only have steak 1x wk. what do I do with the next chicken days??? emoticon

I followed the book at first and did both chicken and chickpeas on day 3 BUT a lot of people seem to be reactive to the chickpeas which is why I think online they separated them out. The online information is ALWAYS the most up to date. As they learn more and find new recipes the update the online menus and cookbook.

Have a great night!

Is the online much different later than the book? I haven't looked that far ahead. So you are saying I should make the broccoli soup, test chicken and do chickpeas on day 7?

Mandi, follow the online menu rather than the book. Test chickpeas seperately, a few days later. I did and reacted to them. I prefer the broccoli soup, going to make another batch today.

Planning ahead for day 3. I believe the difference between the online instruction and the book are that one is the Spring Thyroid menu and one is the Winter Thyroid menu. I don't have either the Spicy Veg soup made or the Broccoli. I'm leaning toward the Broccoli.

I'm a little confused why the online version shows Chicken as a test for day 3. Chicken is just added to day 3 with the Chickpeas in the book, not a separate test. So I'm thinking maybe I will eat them both but do the chickpeas in the form of hummus instead of the soup. Any thoughts on this? Did anyone else eat both chickpeas and chicken in the same day?

Down 3.8 pounds for the first 3 days. Was so happy to have coffee this morning. That kale with the coco sauce was gross. I subbed roasted veggies instead. I love kale but that sauce is hidious. Have a great day,

My Day 3 was excellent weight-wise, down 1 1/2 pounds. I skipped the almonds yesterday and had an apple instead. Food was all fine, but oh my caffeine withdrawal. I realised this morning that the awful pains in my lower back that were running up and down my legs and stopping me sleeping were from no coffee, as well as the industrial-strength hangover I had for day 1 and 2. And then I got honest with my coffee intake - my coffee cup is 16oz, and I would have 2-5 of these a day, possibly followed by 1-2 espresso coffees if I went out. And this is a years-long habit. My poor body, what have I been doing to it? Upsides of less coffee and no drinking after 7.30pm - not getting up twice in the night for a pee! So 4 1/4lbs down for the cleanse.

Hi KRILEA3,

The cookbook online omits the chickpeas from the soup altogether. (pg24)
lyngenet.com/wp-content/uploads/2013

1/Cookbook-TLGP.pdf

and if I recall correctly, it has been said that broccoli and chickpeas have proven to be more reactive than the book originally suggested.

The menus online now also read the cream of broccoli soup for Day 3, as well.
lyngenet.com/tips-for-book-readers/

As I can't seem to find that info, hopefully, someone who can remember this will share it here for you.

Hi all. I am new to The Plan and new to Sparkpeople altogether. I am trying to prepare for my Day 3 tomorrow but am confused by the Spicy Vegetarian Soup. The Kindle version of the book says we are to have the Spicy Vegetarian Soup with 1/2 c of chickpeas. But the recipe calls for 3/4 cup I think. So, do I add the 3/4 cup to the soup and then have an extra 1/2 cup on the side? Would appreciate any help or advice on this. Thanks!

Tanya- if you have a cold there is a good chance that added the weight. When you are sick it adds inflammation. Try to eat friendly while you are getting better and then redo day 3 after you feel better.

Up a pound from yesterday, and woke up with a bad cold and fever.

Have to figure out where that pound came from: the avocado or almonds.

Could not face the flax, so had the cream of broccoli soup for breakfast and lunch. I'm leaving the almonds out today to see.

Drinking tons of water, I'm very thirsty, and was yesterday, too.

I thought I could do this for just 3 days, but yikes, this is hard. I'm craving all kinds of things.

Day 1 - 1 lb down
Day 2 - 1 lb down
Day 3 - 1.1 lb down

Total for cleanse: 3.2 lbs. Amazing!

The chicken on Day 3 felt like such an indulgence - made mine with lemon zest and it was great. Also went slightly over at 4oz, thought it might affect things - but no!
Today I have so many veg left over, not to mention chicken and chickpeas, that I'm going to eat that, and add in the goat's cheese. I really like this bulk cooking - makes life so much easier as you don't waste time in the morning, and then get tempted when you're hungry - there's always something healthy lined up in the fridge.

Had hot flushes after camomile tea - anyone else had that? Never noticed it before.

Ooh - chocolate today...

Water and Dinner Done for Day 3

I don't love the Spicy Vegetable Soup - but it was okay. I may blenderize my next bowl. Hubby may have reacted to the chickpeas - he was gassy right after and then complained of a stomach ache an hour later - so chickpeas or butternut squash may be an issue for him.

Dinner was good. We both enjoyed it!

I would love a piece of chocolate, but that is tommorrow! emoticon

Day 3 Morning Weigh In (after completing day 2)
Down 1.2 pounds!

Hubby and I slept in again this morning - tired and sluggish. Because we slept in it will take a more concentrated effort to get all of my water in today!

Hubby is also down another 1.2 pounds today.

Day 3 Breakfast - Because he tested ok with brown rice, Hubby ate leftover brown rice warmed with cinnamon and Silk coconut milk with added blueberries instead of the flax granola. I think the flax granola is way better for the digestive help it gives, but each must find their own way within the guidelines!

So far so good: new foods for later today include butternut squash, chickpeas and chicken, and I'll be paying attention to the avocado as it "seemed" to give me a head rush yesterday.

On we go!

I'm going to report my 3rd day on my 4th day today. It went well and especially enjoyed the food. I am on the Thyroid Menu so I had the Cream of Broccoli soup and it was amazing. Loved the addition of avocado to my salad. It was awesome to have chicken, too! I lost .9 lb so I had a total loss of 4.2 lbs during the 3-day cleanse. I am jazzed! Today's food is even better. Having no problems whatsoever. Yay! Drink that water folks! emoticon

Beginning of day three and have gained. I used a bit of sea salt yesterday and wondering if that was the problem...Also temp is 94.5 consistently so thyroid definite issue. However yesterday I was down 2 lbs. so am disappointed with this morning. Hopefully tomorrow will be back down.
I so need this plan to work. I like the flax granola dry. The coconut milk makes it slimy in my opinion. the carrot soup I can tolerate watered down and the kale salad is ok but according to the thyroid diet it is likely a reactive food. I am not sure why it is on the 3 day plan. Looking forward to chicken tonight.

Day 3
Morning weigh in
Down (0.3 lbs)

Again, the day was pretty decent. I had the regular flax granola breakfast and I am starting to like the taste. I find it quite filling and I am barely even hungry when lunch rolls around.

Lunch was romaine, some of the carrot beet salad and a handful of pumpkin seeds. I use the Maine coast seasonings – Kelp and It really adds tons of flavour to salad. The spicy veg soup was great – I had almost 2 cups and was stuffed.

Snack was ˝ gala apple

I was so excited for the chicken that I had more than I should have, just over 4 oz. I also loved the roasted winter veggies although I didn’t quite roast them long enough – the carrots were still a bit hard.

I found myself hungry in the evening so I turned to some chips – kettle chips, sea salt. I didn’t eat that many, maybe 20. But I am disappointed with myself. I was really hoping this doesn’t show on the scale tomorrow.

I drank 13 cups of water - one short, but honestly I used to drink about 2, if that. So a huge improvement.

End of Cleanse. Onto day 4 and Cheese testing.

Day 3 and im down another pound.

That first day really was aweful but yesterday i have to say i was pretty thrilled with dinner and my brown rice

Today has been awesome too. I feel great, have energy and just ate lunch. The spicy vegetarian soup. I just put my baby romaine right in the soup. So far i havent been impressed with the salads. Dont like orange oil and i tried avacado but seriously had to choke the slimy flavorless thing down LOL so funny how people like different things

I couldnt find unsalted pumpkin seeds so i have to shell them.

Dinner will be tough because i havent eaten meat in nearly 4 years. But i did used to love chicken so as i said, im totally doing this 20 days no matter what

I have just ended day 3 as well. In spite of all the nonsense that went on today, and I use that term VERY loosely, I managed to eat everything and get all the water in.

Hope the stress response doesn't interfere with my weight loss.

Thanks everyone! Day three is over and I am looking forward to Day Four. I wasn't totally sure the first two days if I could stick it out but it looks better from here on. Switching to the other menu listed on her website is helping. I made the cream of broccoli soup tonight which was quite good (next time I'll skip the avocado though). I will probably continue eating flax cereal even when I don't have to. I like it. I was tired and had headaches the first two days but today was all good.

I see that on Day Four we are allowed coffee, but I much prefer matcha. Anyone know if that's okay? I would make it with rice milk instead of regular.. I'm hoping it is, I miss my morning matcha :(

Do you have a scale that also measures body fat %? I have noticed my number going down there as well.

Day #3... emoticon no more carrots & beets!
So, before starting the Plan, I weighed 193lbs. When I weighed on Sunday, my day 1, I was back to 191.

Sunday #1
97.9 BBT
191 weight

Monday #2
98 BBT
189 weight

Tuesday #3
97.9 BBT
186 weight

I take the probiotic as well. I am beginning to like the foods more. I was wondering about losing only water weight so I asked Dr. Boyer (my consultant) from Lyn-Genet's office. She told me, "Some of the weight you are losing right now is inflammatory water weight - but the fat loss on the plan is usually larger than the actual weight loss! Your whole body is shifting."

Best to YOU on YOUR Plan emoticon

Good morning day 3!

I woke up this morning and another 1.2 lbs gone. Yay!

I have 2 full day meetings at work. I got an email that they weren't able to order my kosher meals in time so I'll need to bring my breakfast & lunch. How awesome is that! I don't have to feel guilty that they bought me food that I boulder eat!

So to the office I go with lunch in tow.

More good news - BBT was 97.05. Let's hope it stays up.

Have a great day all!

emoticon on another pound gone!

Yes, the book does speak about eating more calories than usual. I do not mind that as much because the food is really vegetable/fruit based and those calories can add up geeze...I cannot wait to start the Plan and stop having to count calories. I am so over it.

You say that it will be easy to incorporate into a regular routine. So, if you are out and about, what do you suggest since almonds will not be a snack food every day? Like, I have to figure out how to work out running errands then being home to eat the food on the Plan for the next 21 days.

Lunch did sound odd. I hope you feel better'.

emoticon work on ditching the cupcakes and cookies (for now) at the meeting.

Did you create your Word Table on the computer? I would like a copy.

The only thing I do not like about the book is the fact the foods you need to eat could have been laid out versus spread all over the book so that I could make copies. A layout sheet for those days and their foods would have been so helpful. Yes, I can imagine the first week being the hardest!

Best to you in Phase 2!!!

Woke up on Day 4 and lost another pound! Total of 4 lbs in the 3 Day Cleanse - all while eating more calories than when I normally "diet" AND drinking so much water that I was sure some would hang on as water-weight - very happy to be proven wrong. I know we don't need to count calories but I still wanted to track for comparison purposes.

Day 3 started out as usual and will be easy to incorporate into a regular routine.

Lunch was a bit odd. Today's lunch added avocado and chick peas, so I'm not sure which food caused it, but about a half hour after eating, I felt very, very nauseous. So bad that I had to go lay down for a while and actually took about a half hour nap. It was better when I woke up but my stomach still was a bit 'off'.

I had a 3 hour meeting late afternoon (4 1/2 hours including driving time), so I brought my almonds for a snack and made the chicken and roasted vegetables before leaving the house and just left them in the oven. There was coffee (hard to resist but I just drank water), cupcakes, fruit and cookies at the meeting, but I had absolutely no craving for them, so that was good.

When I got home, I had dinner and made sure to finish up any water that I needed and Day 3 is done!

I did make a Word Table for the next 5days with the meals at the top row and the menu's for the days going down the columns. I think this will help during the work week. I'm a little stressed about not having the right foods for lunchtime at work but the first week is always the hardest!

And that's it - on to Phase 2!!!
