Day 2 is in the books. So far so good.

Starting Day 2. No weight loss yet. Hoping it was because I weighed in before going to the bathroom (TMI).

I will keep the faith and continue. Hoping for some change tomorrow.

I had a very restless night and the TOM is coming this week. But I feel lighter and healthier already and discovered my son like sauteed kale! Can't be all bad! :)

Day 2 down:
Yesterday was a little better than day 1. I have always thought I had a very strong stomach, but not right now - I was slightly nauseated all day.
I was able to eat just about everything. But around 4pm, I started getting a slight headache. So dinner was a little challenging, but I did get the brown rice and roasted veggies down. But nothing else.
It paid off! Down 3 pounds!
I do have to balance this - these symptoms don't last forever, correct????
I am so excited there is chicken tonight! Any interesting flavors I should put on it for a day 3 meal?

Tricia, you know what else helps with the granola is to dissolve the cinnamon in the water first, then add the flax seeds. I can't remember if the recipe calls for it, but adding some vanilla extract is good, too.

Oh, and try and spread out the wet flax as flat as you can in the pan before you bake. If you can get it like a flat sheet, that's great. Break it up as you turn it while it bakes - if you do it right, you can make flat craker-like pieces. Last time, I even spread some almond butter on a couple pieces as a snack..

Greetings,

This is day 2 for me on TP... Day one went extremely well... When I weighed this morning I was down 2.8 lbs. Did feel sluggish and woke up with a headache this morning.

I noticed posts about the flaxseed granola... Before I started TP I played around with the recipes so that I was prepared when I actually wanted to start. The flax granola was one of the recipes that took a few tries to get it to where I liked.... My trick was first to add lots and lots and lots of Cinnamon and Allspice - add more than you think you should. The second thing I did was crumple the flax send onto the pan after it soaked for 7 hours... It makes for a nice actual granola.

I hope my day 2 goes as well as day 1... I will be writing about it on my biog.

Happy Journey to everyone on THE PLAN

Day 1 -1.2
Day 2 -.8
Day 3 -.8

Day 2 I felt much better than day 2 with less gas cramps and less lethargic. I like all the food though the carrot beet salad was a little tough to get down. My DH (not doing TP) put some rice vinegar on it and he liked it.

The first day I got very nauseated besides a really bad headache. Yesterday (Day 2) I felt better. Did have a headache but the nausea was gone. I CAN NOT drink the dandaloin tea. Just the smell makes me feel sick. I tried to drink some yesterday but couldn't.

I'm addicted to fitness. I need a 12 step program or just 12 good steps to run up and down on. DH

Sounds like you are doing great, PLUCKYMUM!

When you test a food, it is usually a smaller amount the first time, hence the 8 almonds the first time. BUT, if you lost half a pound having eaten the oz of almonds - almonds up to an ounce in a day have passed for you as a friendly food. No need to skip or retest them unless you want to test more of them at a time, or twice a day, or roasted, etc.

Day 2 done, 1/2 lb down, but I think I stuffed up because I had an ounce of almonds then read on the online menu that the serving was 8. I had about 20. So I am going to skip almonds today. Yesterday's food was better, but I couldn't eat the broccoli and didn't manage all the soup - loved the apple and avo salad and really enjoyed the brown rice with the coco sauce and veges. Had a headache most of the day, had a very hot bath to sweat out some of the toxins and another early night. I woke this morning feeling like I was rested for the first time in a very long time. My legs are aching though, could be to do with my hip problem or the detox. I can't wait till tomorrow morning's coffee!

Terrible head ache yesterday, and very very tired. I ended up taking a 3 hour nap, and biting my DD's head off when she woke me up.

As for the food, the flax was even worse, and it was homemade with spices (day 1 was store bought). Loved the salad with pears and sunflower seeds. Yum.

I get my flax at a store call the Nugget, but i believe they also sell them in bulk at Winco..... and you can probably find them at Whole foods and Trader Joes (although not sure of in bulk, but a good size bag) They may even have them at a regular grocery store in bags. Good luck!

Hi Japittard,

I'm making my own granola but the bags the flax is sold in are tiny, in the baking section - 100g. I think they imagine we're modestly sprinkling a few over our bread! Will find a bulk wholefood supplier - thanks!
My first batch stuck to the baking paper (bad idea!) and I hadn't left it to soak long enough. It really clumped solid after an overnight and worked much better. Haven't tried raisins yet but cranberries are good. Also great double batch suggestion - it runs out too quickly...

CELLO23- make your own granola it's super simple. If you have a bulk food store you can buy flax seeds there usually pretty cheap. I actually bought some dark flax and some golden flax seeds. Then made my own. My one mistake was not adding enough cinnamon to the mix, so now I just add extra cinnamon when I eat it! I only added golden raisins to my batch and made a double batch. I also cooked mine A LOT longer than the recipe called for to make sure it was dry enough. You want it REALLY DRY!!!!

Good job on days 1 and 2!!!!!

Go everyone!

Day 1 - 1 lb down
Day 2 - 1 lb down

Not as much as some, but delighted! Also sleeping well and feeling bright. Slight headache yesterday wouldn't shift, so had a cup of tea and it went. Surprised I'm having caffeine withdrawal as I drink v little!

Getting through the granola at a rate of knots - they only sell it in tiny bags in the supermarket. Must find a better source. The coconut veg is still tasty on day 2. Looking forward to chicken tonight... emoticon emoticon

PS Thanks for the soup tip, Javaflower - don't know how to reach you!

I thought being able to eat honey rice puffins so quickly during the plan was great since it was my usual breakfast pre-plan anyway!! I add cinnamon to them :)

Day 2 Water and Food done. Everything was fine, except hubby not wanting the flax granola anymore, like I mentioned earlier. I had a bit of a head rush while eating my salad at lunch - not sure if that was from avocado. I also had a difficult time staying focused today, as did Hubby, as he left work early because he as bored. We both feel a little tired this evening, but my sinuses seem like they are clearing out quite a bit - which is nice.

almonds reactive - yes? or no?
(avocado reactive, maybe)
We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Day 2 Morning Weigh In
Down 3 pounds!

Hubby and I slept in this morning - tired and a bit sluggish, but the book says that can happen, and we are going with the flow.

I really doubted the scale would be down, given I feel water-logged - emoticon

but the scale was down 3 pounds this morning! emoticon **HappyDance**
Hubby was down 2.2 (and he weighs quite a bit less than I do!)

So Day 2 Breakfast - Hubby ate a couple Tbs of the flax granola dry and refused to eat more. He ate the blueberries and drank some Silk coconut milk. So, if he tests okay with rice today, he will switch to rice cereal tomorrow. I think he could even just eat the leftover rice from dinner with the blueberries, Silk coconut milk and maybe some honey and cinnamon, but I did get some Barbaras Honey Rice Puffins, in case of just this.

I'm okay with the flax granola and the results are good, so I am going to stick with it.

Day 2 - More emoticon emoticon emoticon

The apple and avocado salad is delicious. Well...on the Plan you do get to eat DARK chocolate so next time, at the movies, bring your own with you.

Day 2 Morning weigh-in
Weight: down 2.4 lbs (seriously!)

Followed the diet to the letter during the day, but forgot to add the sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Rushing too much.

The Carrot Ginger soup was even worse today. I barely had any broccoli left from yesterday so I didn't get much of that.
I loved my salad with apple and avacado! I think the avacado was a bit over ripe and the texture freaked me out a bit, but it was actually better than I thought it would be.

I managed 13 cups of water today. It should have been 14, but we went to the movies and I didn't have time to drink the last cup before 7:30. Not worried about it. And I didn't have any popcorn or anything else, despite drooling at the smell and watchin my husband eat a chocolate bar. I did get to smell the wrapper though.

Onto day 3! Yay! Chicken tomorrow.

Day to
Lost 3.5 pounds

Last night was rough.

Today im skipping the avacado. I have my gall bladder out and the last time i tried avacado it made me extremely ill all night. Fatty. Ive also never liked it and have only tried it twice in my life. No love loss LOL

I am hoping for a better day.

Gonna stick this out tho. I believe the reason say diet plans dont work is that they dont stick to them. With The Plan however its short term so i can eat wisely from now on

And then life gets in the way ... Didn't complete day 1 to my satisfaction so I did it again yesterday and felt better about it. Therefore, I am now on day 2 and it is going well. But I'm locking the doors and turning off the phone until I get thru the cleanse. LOL

Dinner tonight looks doable. I need to hit the water hard between now and then. Good wishes to everyone. So glad this forum is here.

I cannot manage that much breakfast either - I have 1/2 cup of the flax seed granola and 1/3 cup frozen blueberries defrosted in the microwave. Top it off with some coconut milk.
On day 2 I only had 1/2 cup of rice - no way could I eat a whole cup!
I am 5'8" - so it's not height that makes the difference. My stomach just doesn't hold that much as I normally eat 5 small meals/snacks a day.
Your body will adjust to the water intake - give it a week :)
Good luck!

I ended up just cooking the brown rice since we had it on hand, but I added some seasonings, kelp, and a chopped onion. It was actually good enough that my husband said he would be happy to eat it that way in the future! I bought some basmati too though, so we have choices.

Day Two is over and I think I forgot to post that I lost 1.6 pounds after Day one. I wasn't hungry at all today and cravings for certain things are not here anymore so that's nice. I haven't been able to get down all the water no matter how hard I try. And if I didn't work from home I wouldn't be able to get down hardly any at all. I am peeing CONSTANTLY!!! How are you guys who have regular jobs dealing with this?

Another thing I've realized, I really don't think they take people of short stature into account with the plan. I'm only 4'9" tall and 1 cup of flax cereal + 1/2 cup of blueberries makes me very uncomfortably full. I think I'll cut it down to 1/2 C of each.

My suggestion is, if you don't like avocado - don't eat it. I love it, but it was a reactive food for me so I have to skip it if it's in a recipe and that hasn't hurt a bit! Good luck on your schedule!!

My days are a little screwed up because I sleep odd hours so I eat the lunch when I get up, dinner for lunch, and breakfast for dinner. That way my husband and I can eat the same lunch and dinner together. So that means I just finished lunch and omg.. I haven't read very far ahead on the menus but please tell me there isn't a ton of avocado!!! *gag* I had to choke it down with the salad today and never want to look at one again. Luckily my CSA delivered some butter avocados last week so they are not nearly as pungent as Hass, but still not pleasant. I am looking forward to the rice tonight, but I think I'll have to do the basmati instead of brown rice. My husband really doesn't like brown and I'm not about to cook two kinds.

I did learn that jasmine rice and basmati are not even close to the same thing. Basmati has a much lower glycemic index.

In a Plan 3 days article in More Magazine last year it had swiss chard sometimes...
perhaps check this out: www.more.com/lose-weight-fast-detox-diet

remembering that this was written BEFORE the book!

but maybe you can use the information for reasonable substitutes.

I cannot find kale and arugula here in Mexico but I did enjoy the collard greens instead. So far I like all the meals. (I do the thyroid menu in the back of the book)

I love the kale and arugula. I hope that raw kale will not be a reactive food.

Hello Lis & Kozi,

I imagine the days ahead to be better. I am going to see this threw no matter what. I have invested a lot of money and time to give up with only two days under my belt. The loosing weight is a big factor but finding something that I can do for real, for the rest of my life is really why I am doing this. I am so over dieting and finding a temporary fix, counting calories or eating frozen meals. I have to see this through and pray this is MY thing so I can be done with this yo-yoing once and for all. Yes, I have lost some weight.

I do like that I am cooking fresh. I also love green veggies. Call my plate the green (any veggie), white (potato or rice) and brown (meat) plate. I like squash too but green veggies are my thing except for green or snow peas. Carrots have never been my thing. I don't miss the protein as much but I do have a pack of lamb chops in my freezer that would be nice...thanks ladies :) emoticon

I can simplify my life and lighten my burdens by deciding realistically what I want to do and what I have time to do. (~_^)

Lily, sorry you don't like the meals. So many carrots, onions and broccoli. I guess I'm lucky - I like the meals as different as they are. I miss my protein and am delighted to have some chicken tonight (day 3) Losing weight is a good motivator - hang in there!

Awww, I feel so bad for you!! I was lucky enough to already like the foods, but can definitely imagine what you're going through. Once you start testing the things you love, it will be so much easier. Are you losing weight? Hang in there!

OMG! Day 2 is over; thank GOD! I am not enjoying the meals at all for days 1 & 2. The salads are so delicious though. As I said, I hate carrots raw or cooked, beets and definitely coconut. I thought maybe the coconut sauce would be okay since there are spices in it but it still sucks. It is 6:20pm and I have until 7:30pm to finish dinner for day 2 and it is going to take that much time. I am really forcing myself to eat the food since I do not want to be hungry and want to really do this for 20 days. I was nausea last night trying to get it all down.

I know the meals will get better. I am looking forward to day 5 where carrots are no longer in the Plan and day 8 where the granola is not an option for cereal. I hope all is well with ALL of you on YOUR Plan :)

Thanks! I am going to the local veggie market this morning and stop at the health food store on the way back (they speak english there - a big help!)
This plan is great, despite my worries about the rice I was down another 0.6 :)
I'm excited about day 3 - chicken!
Have a great day!

You're doing great Lis! I hope Day 3 is just as good - and easy! You may want to make a shopping list for the next week or so. I had some trouble finding some ingredients too.

Just finished day 2. Loved the meals! Yesterday I had the granola dry but today I added some coconut milk - very nice.
The carrot soup is so filling, I eat it last. I want to get the yummy veggies in first :)
I live in Mexico and certain ingredients I cannot find, like kale but I did find some collard green (or at least I think they are) ad the were great int he spicy coco sauce.
I do miss my protein and am glad we get to have chicken on day 3.
I started eating better on Jan 1st and had already lost 6.3 pounds, this moring after day I was down another 0.6. I can't wait to weigh tomorrow!

Thank you Lily! I'm hoping the scale is still going in the right direction tomorrow.

As for reading the book, I still haven't finished (not even close), so if you just read up to Day 3, you should be fine. I agree - it can be overwhelming to attempt to read the entire book. I'm just going to take it slow and stay a few days ahead for now.

Are you getting the veggies and doing any food prep this weekend? If you get stuck on anything, let me know!

Jacki

Saturday - Day 3 - I'll post tonight all about the third day but couldn't wait to post this - the scale is down another 1.5lbs today!! After all of the disappointment in the past, I was really skeptical that the loss would continue and was prepared for a gain, so this just made my day!!

emoticon cute about the mushroom! Wow, your day 2 sounds really nice. I am so happy for you. Please allow me to ask, would you recommend reading the entire book before starting or just those chapters that pertain to days 1-3?

I love reading but I do not like being overwhelmed and prefer to take it one day at a time.

Again, great job and I know that emoticon will tip in the right direction.

See you tomorrow...your day 3!

6:00pm and all finished with Day 2!

The Flax Granola and blueberries just surprises me because I never would have thought it would not only be filling, but last so long. I wasn't hungry at all between 7:30am when I ate it and noon, which is not usually the case.

Lunch, I've noticed, seems to take forever to eat - first the soup, then the broccoli and then salad greens, which now that I've read more of the book, realize I CAN use 'dressing' on. Ok, now I see why she recommends reading it first! emoticon

Dinner was just great - really loving the kale and today brown rice was also included. They go together so well. I did have a little boo boo. I used regular mushrooms instead of shi*take and then read that they may be reactive, so I guess the scale will let me know tomorrow if they were.

I also completely forgot (because I wasn't hungry) to eat the almonds as a snack, so I had them after dinner a little while ago.

Water is all done for the day and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the scale tomorrow morning!

*Funny it wouldn't let me post because apparently this particular mushroom is considered profanity!
