My name is Pam and I was recently diagnosed by a nutrition therapist to have Leaky Gut Syndrome. I was having extreme fatigue, "foggy head", and a variety of other symptoms. She put me on an anti-fungal diet right away. The diet can be found on her website:
She also put me on an anti-yeast supplement for a while (SF722), an anti-parasitic, and a supplement to remove heavy metals. I felt MUCH better within a week (after the initial reaction to yeast die-off.) Now, she continues to watch the foods I am "sensitive" to, etc. I don't eat any "nightshades" (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers), corn, dairy, soy, caffeine, sugar or any other sweetners (I use Stevia drops with no fillers.). On my own, I avoid eggs, yeast and peanuts because I was sensitive to them in the past. I also avoid white flour because my regular doctor recommended it to me before. Finally, I am trying to avoid any pre-packaged foods because all the chemicals and processing just add to the problem. I am drinking only water, flavored water (I make by added fruit, etc.), and herbal tea.
Amy has a great testimony of her own having searched for years for something that would actually work to make her feel better. I will go back to visit her again soon to see if there is anything I can add back in to my diet, or if there is anything I have more recently developed a sensitivity to. I almost don't want to go back to any other foods because I am feeling so much better. I have been having a lot of fun watching pounds drop away (now that I am tracking food on Spark People and staying within a healthy calorie range,) and searching Pinterest and other places for beautiful healthy food recipes that don't include any of my "forbidden foods." It has opened up a whole new world!
Eveyone's needs are individual. I recommend finding a nutrition therapist near you. Mine practices muscle testing/kinesiology when testing for food problems. I have avoided this type of testing in the past, but it really has been working so far.
Everyone has their theories on the root causes of illness; Amy's premise is that our unhealthy bodies are due to problems with fungus, parasites, and heavy metals (I can forward you the article she sent me if you are interested.)
